The Storm rage on. Danny was lucky that there was no lighting out. However, he had to make sure that Harp is healed before moving on. He turns and saw Harp sitting near the fire. He walks over to her and sat down next to her. Harp wraps a wing around him, pulling him closer.
"Hey, Harp? You told me how Queen met her mate. You didn't tell me how they fell in love." Danny asked.
"That's true. As you know, Queen never liked humans. She always killed the ones that attacked her. She never hurt the human's hatchlings or anything that didn't attack her." Harp said, thinking.
"Yeah, she was attacked by a few people that wanted to kill her, but she was saved by another human that took care of her," Danny said, recalling everything he heard so far.
"Yes, and she didn't know it at the time, but she was starting to fall for the human over time.
623 BC,
Queen sat on a tree trunk as she watch Marcus cut up some wood. It's been five days since she was brought out of his house and allowed to roam around. She was still unable to fly, but her wing was healing nicely. She looked at Marcus and saw him chop another piece of wood in half. The human made her feel strange. She could feel something in her chest beating faster when he treats her to dinner and even brings back some fish for her.
A few days ago, he was walking through the woods, looking for some berries when he was attacked by wolves. Sensing he was in trouble, Queen ran/flew to him as fast as she could. She was about to fight off the wolves and he thanked her. Queen felt her face warm up when he did, not sure what to make of it. And now, here she was, trying to figure out what was wrong with her as she watch Marcus chop wood.
'What is wrong with me? Why did I feel so strange around him? What do I want to get closer to him? Why does my heart beat like I'm flying when I'm not?' She asked in thought.
Queen didn't understand it. What was wrong with her? Marcus grabs some of the wood he chopped, and notices the harpy growling to herself. As much as he wanted to ask what was wrong, he knew that Queen won't tell him. They made have gotten closer over a couple of days, but he did understand that Queen still didn't trust his kind. So he left her alone unless it was really bugging her.
As he set the wood down, he thought about what happen during the past few weeks. He was out in the forest searching for berries he need when he heard someone groaning in pain. He partly ran over and was surprised to find a Harpy. She glares at him and tries to make it look as if she wasn't going to deal without a fight. But he knew that she was unable to. He picks her up and took her back to his home, where he nursed her until she was fully recovered. He never tried anything with her, he didn't even care that she was the Harpy that killed humans. He helped her because it was the right thing to do.
A few days ago, the Harpy saved him. The one known as the Human Killer saved a human. When he thanked her, he was surprised to see her blush. He didn't know that harpies could blush.
However, he did start to notice something else. Almost every time Queen looked at him, she was giving off a look that he has seen on many other women. But unlike those women, Queen would growl to herself and turn away. He had to admit, he didn't think that a Harpy would fall in love. Yes, he was aware that harpies do have families, but it was mostly with their own kind. He won't lie, even if she was a dangerous harpy, Queen was kind underneath.
He steps outside, surprised to see that more Harpies were in his yard, fussing over Queen.
"Thank the skies we finally found you!"
"We thought you were a goner!"
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine! My wing still needs to heal, but I'm okay." Queen told her kind.
One of the harpies saw him and growls, making the others do the same.
"Stand down!" Queen ordered, surprising them.
"What?! But he's a human!"
"He's the one taking care of me," Queen told them.
"WHAT?!" The Harpies shouted.
"I know who she is too. Just a few days ago, she saved me from a pack of wolves." Marcus spoke up.
"You SAVED a human?!"
"He saved me. I am not without honor." Queen remind them.
The harpies looked at each other, confused.
"I'm afraid she can't fly yet. Her wing needs some more time to heal." Marcus told them.
The Harpies looked at each other again before nodding.
"We'll inform the queen about this." They said in unison.
They soon took off, heading for the mountains. Marcus watched them before turning back to Queen.
"Is everything alright?" He asked.
"I don't know," Queen told him.
It was a few minutes before the harpies return, along with their queen! Marcus saw surprised to find her bigger than most Harpies before he bowed to her.
"Well, off to a good start, human." The Harpy Queen said, looking down at him.
"My warriors tell me you helped one of my top warriors." She said, making Marcus look up.
"Yes, unlike the other humans, I see no point in attacking the Harpies. I find this war between us pointless. It won't solve anything." He said.
"Pointless? You humans are trying to wipe us out! We trying to survive!" The Harpy Queen told him.
"By killing humans? What will that prove?" Marcus asked.
"My queen, he's right," Queen spoke up.
"What?" The Harpy Queen asked, shocked.
"We have been fighting each other for a long time. Even before I hatched. This war, it's just so tiring. Now that I had a chance to think about it without being drawn into battle every five minutes, I realized that this war isn't proving anything. All we're doing is killing each other. Not all humans are like the ones we started this war with." Queen told her.
The Harpy Queen looks surprised, one of her best warriors was agreeing with a human. However, she spotted something that surprised her.
'Wait, is she?' She thought before thinking to herself.
"This war has been going on since my great-grandmother ruled. Stopping this war will not be easy." She said.
"No one said it will," Marcus told her.
"Very well, I do what I can. Until then, I want you to care for my warrior until she can fly. If you do anything to hurt her." She said before growling dangerously as she got in his face.
"You will suffer my wrath!" She warned him.
"She'll be safe. I promise." Marcus said.
The Harpy Queen nodded before turning to Queen.
"Take good care of your mate." She whispers.
Queen's eyes widen in surprise as the Harpy Queen flew off with her soldiers.
'Mate?!' She thought in shock.
One week later,
Queen tested her wing and felt no pain in it. She started to hover off the ground and smiled. She took off into the sky, blowing through the clouds, doing sharp turns, and even dives. She flew back down and pass, Marcus, who smiles as she flew around.
A few days after the Harpy Queen left, Queen came forward and told him how she felt about him. Marcus was surprised. He admitted that he never thought that a harpy would fall for him, but he wasn't bothered by it. He even admitted that she was starting to fall for her as well.
Queen landed on the ground, looking at him. She knew that she was free to leave, but she felt like she needs to reward him for all he's done. She decide to wait until tonight so she could collect her thoughts a bit more.
The day went okay, Marcus was busy getting things done and Queen started helping him, finding this peaceful style relaxing. She was so used to fighting, she never knew that relaxing made her so tense. But Marcus helped her understand it, and soon Queen learned that she was far more tired than she thought.
Night soon fell, and Queen made up her mind. Marcus was so kind and caring to her she couldn't think of what would happen if he didn't find her. However, she didn't want to scare him and decide to talk to him first.
Marcus toss some wood into his fire pit as Queen walked up behind him. She sat down behind him and wrapped her wings around his shoulders.
"Is something wrong?" He asked her.
"Marcus, I need to tell you something," Queen said, sighing.
"What?" He asked, looking behind him.
"When you found me, I was very distrusting about you. I thought humans were not more than mindless killers and they were my enemy for all time. But there you came along. I already told you that I fell for you over time, and the queen helped me figure it out. However, I know I can't stay here forever, given that the humans have heard of my return and will hunt me down. But I wanted to thank you for everything you have done for me." She said, surprising Marcus.
"You don't have to. I was doing what was right." Marcus said.
"Marcus, for tonight, I'm yours. A harpy never lets her true self be known, except for our families and loved ones. And I love you, Marcus. Even if you don't take the reward, I'll never forget you." Queen said.
Marcus was surprised, but he did smile. He cups her cheek, seeing her melt into his hand as he softy rubs it.
"Please, I don't care about a reward. I'm just happy to see that you're okay." He said.
Queen was surprised, but she smiled. She reached over and kissed him. Marcus was surprised at first but could tell that she wasn't trying to rush. Plus, her lips did feel nice. He soon kissed back, turning around so he could bring her closer.
They kiss for a few minutes before breaking for air. Queen smiles before standing up, she slips her wings through the shirt she was wearing before pulling it off, letting her breasts free. Marcus blinks at the size of them before looking back at Queen.
"I'm yours." She whispers, sitting back down.
"You're a free bird." He told her.
After making out for another few minutes, Marcus and Queen head for the bed, with Marcus touching Queen's body. Queen was surprised to feel how nice his fingers were when they touch her body. Since Harpies don't have fingers, this was a new feeling for her. Marcus then feel her bird-like legs and was surprised at how smooth they felt. He even felt her wings and feathers, making her coo.
Marcus smiles before Queen pulled him into another kiss. Queen was starting to feel restless, she wanted to take her time, but she knew she was starting to go into heat. They broke the kiss before Queen sighed.
"Please, I can't wait any longer. I'm going into heat." She told him.
Knowing that Queen was part bird, he knew what she meant. Marcus pulled off his shirt, showing his muscles from all the work he's done over the years. Queen was surprised, but she smiled. She felt something poke her and looks down. Marcus blushed, he thought he had control over himself.
"It's okay," Queen said, knowing he was unsure.
Marcus nods before he kissed her again. That night, a human and harpy mated. The first of their kind to do so.
Present,
"Um, you didn't have to tell me that much." Danny blushed, looking away from Harp.
"Sorry. Guess, I went too far in." Harp blushed.
Still, it was something. Danny could hardly believe that Queen for a human that was just being himself. Now that he thinks about it, so was Harp. Danny was being nice and helpful, just like Marcus. And Harp was trying her best to make him feel comfortable. She mention that she was in a bit of heat in their nest, but she also didn't want to force it.
He looks outside the cave, seeing that the rain was letting up but it wasn't light enough for Harp to fly. He felt Harp wrap a wing around his shoulder, leaning on him.
"I'm glad to meet you, Danny. I promise that I'll do everything I can to help you." She said.
Danny smiles. Maybe this won't be too bad.
"Let's get some sleep. I'm sure the rain will clear out in the morning. And you're still healing." Danny told her.
"What about a nest?" Harp asked.
"Looks like we're sleeping on stone tonight." Danny sighs.
Harp looks down before taking off her clothes.
"Um, Harp? You can leave your clothes on this time." Danny told her.
"Use to it." She said, making him sigh.
"Well, I'm keeping mine on. You know, in case you go into heat again." Danny said.
"Talons." She reminds him, looking at her feet.
Danny sighs. He lay down with Harp once more wrapping her wings around him. He hopes he could still reach his family in time.
And that ends another chapter. More about Queen and how she fell for Marcus. Now as a reminder, Harp is telling the story, so some parts might look rushed. Queen has fallen in love and learned to relax after fighting for so long. I didn't write the lemon with them because I wanted to save it for Danny and Harp later in the story. The next time I return to Queen it won't be a happy ending for her. Remember when Harp mention that she lost him when she was going to have an egg? And just a reminder, there is no Tucker, no Sam, and no Vlad in this story. That means, they don't even know what's happening.
