Thank you to everyone who continues to review and continues to read this story! I don't own Divergent and any military-related mistakes are mine! Happy Reading! I hope you enjoy this chapter. It is on the shorter side, but when I was editing this chapter was massive and needed to be cut somewhere.
Chapter 5:Today is A Fairytale
"Tris, will you stand still, please?" Christina asks frustratingly tapping her heels in her navy blue knee-length dress. Her blonde hair curled to perfection like always.
"Leave her be." A male voice says from behind me. Rough fingers curl around my shoulders, keeping me from jumping out of my skin. Will.
"I want to see, please," I say excitedly, bouncing onto the balls of my feet once again as soon as his fingers leave my shoulders which were keeping me steady.
Christina smirks at me, she says maternally, "No, not until your look is completely done." Chris touches her makeup brushes to my face a few more times, and I feel like I am going to jump out of my skin with each stroke of her brush, she turns to Will winking, "Get! Go, entertain our special guests. I need to get her into her dress now."
"Who?" I ask, wondering who Chris has in this house. "That is for me to know, and for you to find out." She smirks. "Now close your eyes, Tris!" I cross my arms, replying, "Not until you tell me who is here."
"Close your eyes! If you want to marry Four in this wedding dress!" Chris commands, my eyes snap shut instantly, knowing there is no way in hell she is going to let me see the dress until it is on my body. We have already had the dress argument when she arrived, and I wanted to see the dress. She wants it to be a surprise. The door squeaks open and closes. I try to calm myself, thinking of Tobias, wondering what he is doing at this exact moment, wondering if he is as nervous as I am right now.
"You can open them now," Chris sings happily, pulling away, looking me over from head to toe. She smiles, yanking the cloth off the mirror, the cloth that has been keeping my reflection from my eyes. In the mirror, I see a girl who looks nothing like myself. My makeup is done in such a way it enhances my natural beauty. My shoulder-length light brown hair is pinned back, away from my face and curled. My wedding dress is tea length, off the shoulder with three fourth sleeves, a little broach on the left side of the waist. Christina smiles adding a simple pearl necklace, studs, and a bracelet to complete the look. My eyes begin to tear, she says sarcastically, "You are going to ruin your makeup, and make us run late to town hall."
"I'm sorry Chris. I can't believe, I get to marry him today. I didn't think I would be able to before he left. For so long, I never dreamt of marriage or even happiness, but Four, he showed me that I was worthy of love. He showed me I was worthy of his love and everyone's love. It wasn't until I met him, I started to dream about my future or getting married." My voice cracks with emotion, my fingers fly to my eyes, dapping the tears away.
Chris smiles, "I know, Tris. I see how happy he makes you, and I see how you light up when you are around him. He is a breath of fresh air. I am so so happy for you. You should see him dressed in his formal dress blues." She giggles slightly, wiggling her eyebrows making my cheeks heat. "Don't tell Will, but it makes him even better looking."
"Don't tell me what?" Will asks, coming through the door in a black suit with a blue tie, the tie matches Chris's dress.
"Nothing!" Both Chris and I say at the same time, Will eyes us with suspicion.
"Whatever you say. If I really wanted to get it out of you, I could. Just remember that." Will smirks at both of us, he walks over to me, kissing me on the cheek quickly, continuing, "Four is a lucky man."
"You ready, Tris?" Christina asks, handing my bouquet of red roses to me, smiling confidently. Will grabs my hand with his fingertips, placing it onto his elbow, he grabs Christina's hand in his other hand and does the same to her hand placing it into the crook of his elbow. "As ready as I will ever be," I reply to both of them before we exit the room arm in arm.
Thoughts and opinions? Who is excited to see Tris and Four get married? Who do you think the special guest is waiting for Tris downstairs? Next update will be on the weekend of Feb. 29, 2020.
