11:50 PM

Ten minutes until his shift began, aside from the weird buzzing everything was silent, but he couldn't relax. He sat in his chair, tense and vigilant, waiting for the time on his watch to hit midnight. It was weird how scared he felt. He had just spent the last two nights fighting for his life and having his world torn asunder, yet he couldn't remember feeling as unnerved as he was now. Sitting there, waiting for something to break the silence and start coming for him. That was exactly what happened, 9 minutes ahead of schedule.

He perked up to a light clunking sound he recognized as the door to the dining area closing, strained his ears to hear the light clicking sound of shoes against the floor through the buzzing, felt his breath hitch as it abruptly stopped. Not wanting to make a sound, he gently reached over to his security tablet and powered it on.

Who the hell would be here at this hour? Were the robots already moving?

When the camera powered on, he switched the feed to the show stage and then Pirate's Cove. Surprisingly, everyone was still in their places. But what the hell was that sound?

He flipped through the cameras trying to find any evidence of an intruder or anything that could have made that noise, Nothing.

He turned off the camera and listened again. The clunking sound could be heard in what he believed was the dining area. He gripped his head and tried to avoid screaming. After having fended off literal haunted animatronics, he was now getting scared by a mystery intruder, something he would have prayed to experience the first 2 nights of his shift rather than the hell he was put through.

12 AM

He nearly jumped out of his seat when the phone rang, signifying the beginning of his shift. He powered the tablet on and began looking at the cameras to see when the animatronics would start moving.

"All right, what do you want to say to me tonight, Clay?"

But when he picked up the phone, the call abruptly ended.

"Nothing?" he stated, staring blankly at the phone.

What the hell was going on tonight? First the footsteps now this? Who was fucking with him this time?

He slammed the phone back into its holder and got back to looking at the cameras. He looked at the show stage camera and noticed Chica was missing.

"Finally, something normal's happening for once!"

He went about his routine, trying to ignore what happened before his shift started. After all, if the intruder was still here, the animatronics would probably get them. So, he sat there, checking the cameras, and turning on his hall lights. An oddly calming routine. That would change when he turned on the left door light, and was greeted with a female figure standing outside of his door.

He screamed and slammed the door in front of the figure who let out a scream herself, a scream he recognized.

"Veronica!?"

She was the mystery intruder?! What the hell was she doing here? He needed to get her out of that hallway to keep her safe and get some answers.

He leapt up and opened the door.

"What the fuck Michael?!"

He grabbed her by the scruff of her shirt and threw her into the office before closing both doors.

"Ok! Do you want me outside or inside the office?! Also, that is no way to treat a lady young man!" she shouted in between coughs.

"What the hell are you doing here?!"

"Looking for you!"

"How did you even find me here?!"

"Well, I figured you'd either be here or at your house. And since I don't know where you live, I'd… I figured I'd try and look in this place instead. And my intuition was correct!"

"Oh fuck! I forgot about Freddy and his gang!" Mike exclaimed, picking up his tablet again.

"You mean the robots on stage? What the hell do they have to do with anything?"

"Because they're inside them Veronica!"

"Ok, Imma need some context for that statement right now!"

"The kids that went missing! My father and his weird cultist terrorist buddies crushed them to death in the robots and now they're haunting them, and they're coming for us!"

Veronica went silent, remembering that article written by William Afton. The ending section where it talked about the A.R.R.S.H and how it would be used to kill people and merge their Remnant Signatures with the machine. Was that what this was about?

Mike was too busy flipping through the cameras to notice her silence. Fortunately, none of the animatronics were near the office yet. He breathed a sigh of relief and began to calm down, until he clicked on Cam 2B.

There, at the end of the left hallway, right outside his office, was a poster showing the head of Fredbear, the vibrant yellow of his suit contrasting heavily against the dark voids where his eyes should have been. His breathing quickened and a sense of confusion overtook him. He was certain that poster had never been there before, he figured he would have remembered something like that, right? But aside from the creepy imagery depicted on the poster and the fact he had never seen it before, there was something else about it that seemed off, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

He thought about it for what seemed like an eternity before it finally occurred to him. Fredbear's head was visibly yellow on the camera, the grayscale camera.

"Ohhhh… fuck!"

"What do you mean 'oh fuck?'" Veronica asked.

"Something very bad is about to…"

Before he could finish his sentence, the slumped over figure of Fredbear appeared in front of them. The humming sound became louder, the phrase 'It's Me' began flashing before his eyes and the same robotic mumbling he heard when he saw Fredbear in the armored car accosted his ears.

"Oh, fuck you!" Mike screamed.

"Oh God!" Veronica yelled.

"What the fuck!"

Mike held the camera up to his face and Veronica turned away, not wanting to look at the horror that had invaded the office. Surprisingly, when they looked back to where Fredbear had been, it was gone. Mike sat there in silence, stunned at what happened. Veronica on the other hand wasn't so quiet.

"What the fuck, ok! Not ok! We were just having a nice conversation!"

She stood up and continued her rant.

"Can we just not have to deal with bullshit for one fucking second!"

As if on cue, the phone began to ring.

"Nope! Well fuck all this then!"

Mike laid the tablet down and picked up the phone, dreading who he might hear on the other end.

"So, you think you can just go and bring someone else into our business, Micheal?"

He remembered that voice, it was the little girl's voice he heard during his first vision, the one that interrupted Evan after his cry for help.

"Who am I speaking to?"

"Yellow bear"

Yellow bear? That had to mean Fredbear, but that was impossible. Evan was the one possessing Fredbear unless something happened to him.

"What the hell have you done with Evan?"

"Who's Evan?" Veronica inquired.

"'Evan' has been locked away inside our new body. Soon we will become one again, then you will join us, and we can get our revenge on Kane and anyone who stands in our way."

"What the hell are you on about!? Evan has nothing to do with you! The only one who deserves any form of punishment is me and my bastard father!"

"No! If anything, we owe William a favor. Thanks to his work we can finally exact revenge against the one who betrayed us. For the sin you replicated!"

"If you think I owe father anything, you're a complete loony!"

"Good to see you're still just as naïve. I can help fix that. But for now, don't fear the pain, don't fear death, don't fear the reaper."

1 AM

The phone went dead, and Mike slowly put it back in its holder.

"Mike?" Veronica called out to him.

"Mike!"

"Earth to Michael Afton!"

He turned to her.

"I understand you have a lot of questions right now. But I need you to do exactly as I say for the next 6 minutes or so. Otherwise, I won't be able to answer any questions because we'll both be dead!"

"Ok then, what do you need me to do!?" She replied, clearly irritated.

"Click on those lights and see if there is anything outside those doors. Keep checking them until the night ends. If you see ANYTHING outside of them, close the door."

As he finished his statement the two of them heard a clicking sound and a song began to play. He could see Veronica looking around trying to identify the source of the music. Her irritated expression changed to one of confusion and mild panic. He hated that he couldn't give her more context right now. She had every right to be confused, but if he tried to describe everything now, they would both die. Fortunately, it didn't matter all that much, she just needed to follow his instructions for a few short minutes, or hours, who really knew at this point.

"Hope you're ready for Freddy." He said, looking back to the cameras.

He immediately recognized the song as Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear The Reaper" a song he loved under normal circumstances, but in this dark dingy place, it sounded oddly unsettling.

All our times have come

He checked to see where Chica had gotten to while he was distracted. To his dismay he was instead greeted with the yellow figure of Fredbear. Staring at him with those black soulless eyes. He heard the little girl laughing at him before the camera cut to static and he disappeared.

Here but now they're gone

He could hear the ghostly echo of that little girl's laughter echoing through the halls. Coming in and fading out like the wind.

Seasons don't fear the reaper

Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain

He heard the buzzing of the lights and felt Veronica move past his back as she checked the doors to either side of them. He smiled, reassured that she took his advice.

We can be like they are

He clicked on the dining room camera and noticed both Chica and Fredbear standing in the main room. The camera feed cut out for a bit before coming back to reveal that Fredbear was gone while Chica was still there.

Come on, baby

(don't fear the reaper)

Baby, take my hand

(don't fear the reaper)

We'll be able to fly

(don't fear the reaper)

Baby, I'm your man

The guitar riff at the end of the chorus seemed to echo through the halls. A reminder that they were alone in there with these things, and no one could help them if they got caught.

La, la, la, la, la

La, la, la, la, la

2 AM

Veronica was now starting to regret coming here. She knew there was something going on here, but she didn't think it was this bad.

Valentine is done

She heard the sounds of metal thumping and clanking pots and pans. She could only guess those were the sounds of the robots moving around. Coming to do God knows what to them.

Here but now they're gone

She looked over at Michael, staring at that tablet with unblinking eyes. She was starting to get an idea of what had happened. Mike's dad had done some fucked up experiments and the machines in this place were now coming to kill them. But several questions remained. Who was that on the phone? What did the puppet have to do with this?

Romeo and Juliet

"Oh fuck! Right side, right side right side!" Mike called out.

Also, who was this 'Evan' Mike mentioned.

Are together in eternity

(Romeo and Juliet)

She ran over to the right side and turned on the light. Nothing. Mike told her he would explain everything later, but if she didn't get some information now, she wouldn't be able to focus. One question couldn't hurt, right?

40,000 men and women everyday

(like Romeo and Juliet)

"What did you see?" She asked him.

40,000 men and women everyday

(redefine happiness)

"I saw that yellow version of Freddy from earlier walking towards that door, but then it disappeared. Again!"

Another 40,000 coming everyday

(we can be like they are)

They were relatively safe, now was her time to ask.

"So, who's Evan?"

Mike suddenly went still and pale.

"He… he was my brother ok. He's dead now and it's my fault. Can we just get through this night before I share what happened to him and you can call me out for the monster I am!"

Come on, baby

(don't fear the reaper)

Baby, take my hand

(don't fear the reaper)

We'll be able to fly

(don't fear the reaper)

Baby, I'm your man

She stopped and stared at him. What did he mean Evan died because of him? She had known him for years, he wouldn't kill anyone! Would he?

La, la, la, la, la

3 AM

Mike saw Veronica freeze. He had said too much. He said to much and now he was going to get them both killed. He needed to get her attention so they could get back to fending off the robots.

"Veronica! Veronica snap out of it and work with me here! All I ask is that you bear with me until this night is done!" He pleaded with her.

He had no doubt she was going to leave him after this, he wouldn't blame her, but he couldn't have her die here, he couldn't have her blood on his hands to.

"Mike, why would I think you're a monster just because of an accident?" She told him, trying to be reassuring despite having no context as to what happened.

"Veronica please God I can't get into this right now! We have to focus…"

He looked at the Pirate Cove camera feed and saw Fredbear peeking out of the curtains like Foxy normally would be. He was then accosted by that robotic droning sound, the solo section of the song, and visions of the animatronic heads.

"No! Oh god! Fuck fuck fuck!"

The visions stopped and Fredbear was gone.

"Mike! I know you. you were the most subdued person I knew, you wouldn't hurt a fly."

Hearing that sent him into a spiral of irritation and guilt.

She had no idea what he went through. How he changed.

"Yeah! Well, I did! I didn't know how to handle moving in with my arsehole father, so I took it out on my brother just to get back at him! You're right, I wouldn't have hurt anyone back then, but this place changed me!"

He saw her confused expression change to one of irritation. She wasn't letting this go.

"Mike! I refuse to believe I travelled all this way just to see a monster! You're not a bad guy! You never were and never will be! You have to stop blaming yourself for everything your fucked up father did!"

He couldn't take it anymore! He couldn't stand her insisting he was a good person after what he did! She didn't even know what happened and here she was telling him he should stop blaming himself for fratricide!

"You don't even fucking know what happened! I killed him, Veronica! I shoved his head into the mouth of that bloody fucking suit and it clamped down on him! I wanted him to freak out and embarrass himself and next thing I know I've shed his blood! That was me! I'm a murderer!"

He felt himself getting a headache. The pain in his head growing and growing until he could barely stand it. He stumbled over to the tablet and checked the cameras, determined to keep going about his duty despite the pain. He switched to the show stage only to find it empty.

"Fuck, they're all out! Oh my god they're all out!"

He looked over and saw them all outside of the door, their eyes glowing, staring in at him.

"Oh, they are all out!"

He repeated that phrase like a broken record. The pain in his head making it hard to even think.

"They are all out!"

He saw Fredbear appear in the room once again. The soulless voids containing 'Yellow Bear' and the remains of Evan's soul staring back at him.

"They are all out!"

He felt himself collapsing to the floor. Watched as they all came into the office and closed in on him. As the pain overtook him, he closed his eyes and waited for death.

4 AM

Veronica watched as Mike gripped his head and collapsed onto the ground. Looked on, not knowing what to do as he flailed on the ground repeating the same phrase over and over again. The solo section of the song blared in the background until he finally stopped, and the solo ended.

Love of two is one

What had she done! She had done this! She pushed him too hard and now he was having some sort of panic attack on the floor or maybe being attacked by that yellow bear thing he mentioned earlier. She had to do something to help! Anything to make sure her mistake wouldn't kill him!

She flipped him over and checked his pulse. Thankfully he was just unconscious. She got up and tried to call 911.

The line was dead.

Here but now they're gone

She picked up the tablet on the desk and saw it was pointing to an empty show stage. She heard the animatronics walking around out in the restaurant. She noticed the time on the tablet said 4 AM and a power indicator at the bottom of the screen said they had 38% power left.

"Well, looks like I have to hold out until Freddy's happy fun time is over."

Came the last night of sadness

And it was clear she couldn't go on

She remembered seeing Mike press the buttons with his finger to change the camera feed. She looked through all of them, slowly identifying where each of the rouge robots were.

Then the door was open and the wind appeared

Several of the camera feeds with animatronics in them cut to static briefly before returning to show the robots missing.

"Oh god they're moving!"

The candles blew and then disappeared

She searched through the cameras trying to identify their new positions, breathing a sigh of relief when she realized all of them were in rooms away from the security office. Except for Cam 2B, where a mysterious yellow bear animatronic seemed poised to strike them at any minute.

The curtains flew and then he appeared

Saying don't be afraid

"Oh, he's close, he's coming in soon."

She clicked back to the camera and noticed he was gone.

"Oh god he's here!"

She said, turning on the door light and being greeted with the loud sound of a little girl's laughter and the visage of a yellow Freddy robot.

"There you are!" She shouted, closing the door on it.

Come on, baby

(and she had no fear)

5 AM

"Ok! Ok! I've got this on lock! You stay there all you want you fuck!"

And she ran to him

(then they started to fly)

She looked around trying to find the other robots, finding all of them except the yellow bird, duck animatronic.

They looked backward and said goodbye

(she had become like they are)

She turned on the door light and saw the duck standing out there. A split second later she closed the door. They were locked in and running out of time.

She had taken his hand

(she had become like they are)

She ran over and clicked on both the door lights several times. Each time a new robot showed up. One more of Freddy's gang cornering them both. She sat down and put her hands over her face. She should have just listened; she shouldn't have pushed Mike too hard. He was right, she had no idea what he was going through! She was impatient about getting answers and now both of them were going to die.

Come on, baby

(don't fear the reaper)

The song reached its climax and the haunting guitar waves rippled throughout the room, heightening her sense of impending doom. The only thing she could do now was sit and wait. Praying for something to get them out of this situation. She would even be ok with something happening to her as long as Mike got to live another day. This was her fault.

5%

Would he be able to forgive her?

4%

Would they end up haunting the place along with these things?

3%

Was he even still alive right now?

2%

How would she get him help if they did get out of this alive?

1%

If the power went out and the robots were right there, would they get them?

6 AM

The lights suddenly turned on and all went silent. The haunting sounds had dissipated, and the robots now stood still.

They had made it.

They had survived the night. Hadn't they?

She looked over at Mike, still unconscious on the ground. A defeated look overtook her face as she looked at his near lifeless form. His mouth agape and his eyes closed. If not for his pulse and light breathing she would have thought he was a corpse. She felt like crying. She had done this to him. She pushed him too hard, and this was the result.

She sat there stock-still, wallowing in her own negative thoughts unable to do a thing to help him. She tried get up, call 911, pick him up, grab his hand, but she was unable to do any of those things. She was paralyzed.

So, she sat there looking at him. Until he opened his eyes.
