The Bitter Few 3 - or 'The Plight of Human-Kivouackian Circumstances' (The August Few: Amygdala, Human!SI)
Lucy Lacemaker hated herself. Or rather, she hated knowing she should have stopped when she knew this could have only gone bad.
Her going after Goldune, her behaving like a fool, and now her self-loathing each step she took- or should be taking as she was being carried. She wasn't weak- she refused seeing herself as such, but the dreadful feeling of tiredness had deprived her of any mental strength to be a cocky little shite with the one friend she got left.
The only one that she could trust and that trusted her.
Jo' was the truest one. The one that Lucy knew she could trust her world to. That and her thoughts. It was ironic as she doubted any other Kiv would be just as open as she was around the 'hoooman', but she was also sure no one like Jo' could trust him as much as she could. They were going through the worst possible situation as tightly as possible.
The cold path through the humid forest that led to Miviam was just a testing ground for peace. She hadn't been stabbed yet, and she was too weak to even contemplate something of the kind- actually, it horrified her she was considering that. Jo' was the only one left for her- the only one that survived the stupid mindboggling onslaught she caused. Like a damn bellend!
The somberness of the stroll left her numb to her own anger, but as they continued to walk, as they continued to... well, get out of sight and range from their old 'home', Lucy felt that this wasn't truly the end. Unlike she felt mere hours ago. She was still feeling horribly, but gone was the deep urge of roll over and just die.
Strangely enough, the warmth she felt while confined within John's arms felt awfully pleasant. It was weird to think she had been so afraid of being kept in there for too long, but those hours had truly given her a sense of peace that Lucy loved and... hated at the same time. It made her feel so vulnerable. That and his new eye- the eye she gave him through that stupid ordeal.
Once again, a wave of upset struck the weary Lacemaker, but the fowler was content to just think and not say. Not much because she was 'afraid' of talking, rather she was quite sure any self-hating would be rebuked on the spot. Jo' was like that- he would never let her 'be too much for herself'.
Idiotic as a sentence, but so damn fitting with what was going on with her. Right now, all of this, was because she thought herself able to hold back. She didn't and she got screwed by this. Then John picked her up and gave her the 'new deal'. It wasn't any different than the old one beyond that they continued to live.
Life was shitty for Lucy, but it was also far from 'calm and quiet' as she would love it to be. Even after mere hours from their recent near-death experience, trouble was soon upon them. She heard the source of it before the bastard could get a shot at them, with the kiv swiftly screeching.
"DUCK!"
Jo' moved fast, his reaction time just as impeccable as usual while he retorted the sudden attack from the side with a rapid kick to the head of the attacker. Surprise appeared on the tall Kivouachian's face before he found his forehead slam against one of the nearby trees and... just fall unconscious.
The adrenaline was still running as Lucy's claws were growing bigger and far deadlier than usual since she knew that had been a far too close call to be happy about it.
"Should we kill him?" Lucy asked almost mindlessly.
It was another silly thought, but one not born without merit. Especially when she was sure that this could be the first of many troublesome steps to shed away the 'old skin' they were ditching after the most recent fiasco. Plus, she was tired and the lanky wanker was just a hurdle to their peace, but Jo' held a finger up at that proposal.
Silence and... attention.
"No."
"He could be a witness."
"Of what?" The human rightfully interrupted. "No. I think it's best to leave him be."
A frown adorned the Fowler's face. "Why?"
"He may not be alone, and he was clearly trying to do something to us despite not being Yolsh. Maybe a criminal."
That was also a fairly interesting issue. Miviam was a big place, one where ink on paper was valued together with other products, but it also had a sizable amount of dangerous thugs and kidnappers that would turn some fancy resources by capturing and selling them. John in particular would be highly valued, while Lucy- Well, Lucy was a tiny Fowler with little skin on her bones.
She would hardly be of worth to those people, but she was more concerned about John. After all, he was the one that she was stuck with by her own choice and, perhaps, destiny. So, her voice bubbled again, this time with renewed confidence.
"We should kill him."
"Lucy-"
"We need to give a sign."
"For what?"
For not hurting you, you knobhead!
But her voice failed to muster those words as it would make her pass as the clingy little shit she truly was deep down. And she refused being such a 'doll' with those feelings.
"Nevermind," Lucy admitted with a nervous giggle. "I just... Tired."
That was so dumb, but it seemed to work as John's posture softened and he appeared understanding. Normally this would give her relief, but she felt actually bad within for lying to him. And she knew that she couldn't just take things like they used to be less than a day before.
"Let's get going," The human announced calmly, deciding to just let this troublesome witness... be.
And hopefully not have him hunt us down.
Another hour went by, but this time they were finally there. The sprawling Miviam was now around them, its tall walls of metal and other resources greeting the duo as they proceeded to be 'tourists' as Jo' called it. To be 'visitors for fun' just to know what kind of mess they were waddling into.
But as they were turning the corner, someone... stumbled upon them.
"Ihhhh!" The screech surprised Lucy, but the ensuing request left her baffled. "H-hide me, please!"
The feminine voice seemed to have the edge as Jo' just yanked this azure-haired Kiv from the ground and brought them all to a nearby alley. The tense silence was briefly shredded by two taller and bigger Kivs rushing around the alley and failing to notice their target currently burrowed into Jo's chest... and right in front of Lucy.
This female Kiv's eyes were made by dark pools with silvery irises, akin to two pale moons that were mirroring the pure fright running through the bipedal kiv. She was wearing an open jacket that revealed some curves within her slightly dirty white fur, her hooved feet kicking softly as she nervously stood in wait, ignoring the glare Lucy was giving her for claiming a spot that wasn't hers.
But as the worry was over, it was the female Kiv herself that pushed away.
"T-Thank you. I didn't think that someone- I mean, I wasn't sure you- you would have helped."
"It's alright. Just keep out of trouble and we'll be on our way," John rightfully cut the interaction short, allowing them to finally leave this pathetic excuse of a-
"W-Wait!"
Oh, what now?!
John stopped and turned at the bipedal kiv. "What?"
"Y-You two are newcomers? I know this- this is weird, but I would be happy to be your guide."
No-
"Affiliations?"
"N-None. I don't- I don't exactly have a job-"
"But plenty of enemies," Lucy interjected. "We don't need that."
"I-it would just be as a guide. Nothing more!"
...
"You really want to help us. Why?" The human pressured and the azure-haired female offered a nervous smile.
"You helped. And- And I appreciate that."
There was more to it, Lucy had a nose for that. But she had reasons to hold back her tongue in this interaction. She already stressed her point- any further and she may sound too assertive and... she wasn't ready for that conversation. Now, it was best to prepare for the least pleasant addition to her current struggles-
"B-By the way, I am Luna. What are your names?"

Miviam! And a new friend tags along.
For long-standing readers, this is indeed the Luna you remember (except smoller and less jaded).
To those that have not read 'The Unwanted Visitor', Luna was actually a Kiv that was present in the original Satellite City but got removed when her creator, HalieDoobles vanished off after asking her OC to not be used in the series beyond Satellite City. It seems this happened amicably, and the character has a good design and personality so... she is back and she will be the 'anti-Lucy' so to speak.
