August 28th, 845 AT. A date that is seared into the memories of so many people. It was the day the Colossal and Armored Titans first appeared. The day Shiganshina was overrun. The day Wall Maria fell. The day we realized the walls wouldn't last forever. But there's one more reason this date is burned into my mind. It was the day the Armored Titan murdered my parents. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. All I remember was the bastard busting through the inner gate, my father pushing me away, and a chunk of the gate crushing my parents.
Now it's July 847. I've been employed by the Courier Service for the past few years, though in reality, I'm really just drifting. In some ways it feels like I've just been walking through a dream for the last 2 years. No purpose, no direction. So, I've decided to join the military. The Scouts, specifically. Maybe there I can find a purpose to my life. Hell, maybe I'll even run into the Armored Titan. Wouldn't that be funny? Most people would probably call me suicidal for joining the scouts, but I really don't care. Fate will decide when it's my turn to die, and who am I to deny it?
- An excerpt from the journal of an Eldian soldier, 847
Greetings, weary web surfer! This chapter was a teaser for a little pet project I've been doing on and off for just under a year now. Recently, the story underwent something of a rewrite, but I'm back on track now.
Cheers,
Echo
