Beach
Summer, synonym of suffocating heat, scorching sun rays, water and of course, the beach.
Yoshiko grunts annoyed, shielding her squinted eyes from the bright sun.
Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to make a trip to the beach in their summer holidays instead of staying at home, chilling with the AC running and new videogames to play?
Chika, of course it had to be Chika.
As soon as she said her brilliant idea, You and Ruby supported it excitedly, and in no time, they've got the rest of the girls to join them, leaving Yoshiko grumbling alone about it until Riko's pleading eyes made her begrudgingly agree to be part of the trip.
And it's exactly because of that, that she finds herself in the beach, suffering the suffocating heat. She barely put a feet on the sand and already feels her body sticky with sweat.
Yoshiko grunts again, thinking about how this feeble vessel of hers won't be able to bear the high temperatures, much less the scorching sun.
She's pretty sure her lovely pale skin will end burnt under its rays, or even worst, she'll end melting into a puddle in the middle of the sand, without any possibility to return to her original human form, disappearing from existence.
Yoshiko shivers just thinking about it.
Damn, don't these mortals know how a majestic fallen angel like her isn't made for such high temperatures? She's pretty sure even hell is colder than this place.
She whines, kicking the sand before she feels how hot it is and quickly tiptoes over it, making her way to find refugee under a nearby beach umbrella to then lay down on a deck chair, crossing her arms across her chest and huffing, looking at the sea.
- Aren't you going to play with the rest in the water?
Suddenly, a kind voice asks her. Yoshiko gazes up at her silhouette, having the sun against a backlight.
- No thanks, this feeble vessel of mine will burn under the scorching sun rays and I can't let that happen for such trivial thing.
Yoshiko says, hearing Kanan laugh and roll her eyes at her words.
- Well, if you change your mind, just come to play with us, Yoshiko-chan – Kanan yells at her as she gets away, running towards the sea with the rest of the girls.
As soon as she enters the sea, she starts splashing water to Riko, making Yoshiko envy her.
- It's Yohane! – Yoshiko yells back at her, huffing more and pouting, before she sighs and leans back on the deck chair, watching the girls play happily.
The truth is that part of her envy them and wants nothing more than go and have fun with them, but her skin is so pale and sensitive that she knows she'll end up sunburning in no time.
She sighs heavily, sinking further onto the deck chair before she gazes at Riko, taking in her beauty as she watches her play in the water with the rest of the girls.
Yoshiko gets lost in the way her smile and eyes sparkle with nothing but pure happiness. The way the sun hits her burgundy hair making it shine brightly under it, and how the water drops roll down her magnificent slender body…
Her breath gets caught in her lungs as magenta meets golden, and she notices Riko grinning at her before waving at her. Yoshiko waves back at her awkwardly, happy that Riko can't see the blush tinting her cheeks from afar. Then, she notices two shadows hanging over her, almost scaring her.
- What the hell!? – she exclaims, placing a hand over her frightened heart as the shadows come out, seeing them giggling at her outburst.
- Yoshiko-chan, come to play with us! – Ruby exclaims cheerfully, making Yoshiko sigh.
- Ruby-chan, I just told Ka-
- Yoshiko-chan, admit you also want to play in the water, zura!
Hanamaru soon joins the red haired pigtailed girl. They look one another briefly and smile sweetly at Yoshiko, before between the two of them start to pull her of the deck chair.
- W-Wait! W-What are you two doing!? I'm good here, really. And it's Yohane! Yo-ha-ne! – Yoshiko yells at them, struggling in their grip, making the girls laugh while they keep trying to drag her to the seashore.
Eventually, they get tired and let her go, and even though Yoshiko tries to escape back to the refugee of her beach umbrella, she finds her body being lifted up effortlessly by another person, throwing her onto a muscular shoulder. She yells and grips the shoulder of the responsible tightly, afraid of falling at any moment.
- Kanan when did you… put me down now! – Yoshiko yells frantically, hitting Kanan's shoulder lightly to oblige her to put her down. But instead of doing that, she hears her laughing and watches with horror how Kanan keeps approaching dangerously to the sea with her on her shoulder and under the scorching sun.
- As you wish master Yohane – Kanan says playfully, dropping Yoshiko onto the cold water.
The fallen angel squeals while Kanan, Ruby and Hanamaru laugh altogether, seeing her sat on the water not very gracefully.
She quickly stands up, glaring annoyingly at them and starts splashing water at them with her arms and legs, unfolding a water war with laughs echoing around, filling the air.
Yoshiko is so focused on her revenge, soaking them as much as she can, that one of the times, she kicks particularly too hard what she thinks is the water, to find out she just kicked the sand, making it move under her and ending up losing her balance and fall deep into the sea.
She swallows water accidentally, and then, she quickly observes a girl coming to her rescue, her burgundy hair flowing as she dives deeper towards her.
Riko…
She thinks, a soft smile playing on her lips despite everything. Then, she feels Riko's soft and plump lips finding hers to give her oxygen, gathering her petite body in her arms to propel the both of them back to the surface.
Yoshiko coughs the water up she just swallowed, holding onto Riko's shoulders as if her life depended on it.
- Are you okay, Yocchan? – Riko asks her worriedly, with such a soft expression on her face that Yoshiko finds hard not to blush.
- Y-Yeah.
She has a lot of witty comebacks, but one look into those worried golden eyes and they all fade away, turning her into mush in the pianist's arms.
- Yoshiko-chan, are you okay!? You're red!
- She's getting sunstroke, zura!
Ruby and Hanamaru exclaim almost at the same time, quickly approaching to where the two girls are, making Yoshiko groan embarrassedly and hide her face and the present blush on it into the crook of Riko's neck. She hears the pianist giggling cutely as well as Kanan's laugh in the background.
- I guess it's time for the fallen angel to get some rest. She can't take more sun, can she? – Riko says playfully, knowing full well her redness isn't a product of getting sunstroked. Yoshiko groans even more at it.
- You aren't funny – Yoshiko mumbles, hiding her deep blush and embarrassment further into the burgundy haired girl's neck. Riko keeps laughing, walking towards the beach with the grumpy and blushy fallen angel in her arms, taking the young girl back to the refugee of the deck chair under the beach umbrella.
Maybe coming to the beach wasn't so bad after all…
