I do not own the Fallout series
AN: Another new fanfic, this one about the endings of Fallout 4 given a more traditional spin, complete with karma meter. I say Karma, as in only good or bad karma, no neutrals here, that's boring. Let the extremism flow.
Minutemen Ending, Good Karma
Intro, narrated by Ron Perlman
The Sole Survivor, the man who had cheated time in Vault 111, who had faced the Wasteland head on to find his son, had instead changed the Commonwealth forever.
The Sole Survivor, narrated by Ron Perlman (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
With the aid of the Commonwealth Minuteman as their General, the Sole Survivor destroyed the greatest threat the Commonwealth had ever faced: The Institute. Though the Commonwealth was now free of its boogeyman, the Sole Survivor had sacrificed the chance of reconnecting with his son. Despite this loss, the people were free and for the first time in centuries, could make their own choices without fear of the Institute's shadow looming over them.
Supporting the ideas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the Sole Survivor gave rise to a truly free Commonwealth. He broke the Institute's tyranny and prevented the people of the Commonwealth to suffer from either the Brotherhood's dogma or the Railroad's indifference. Though he had lost his family, his home, and the world he knew, he did not fall into the vice and despair as others might have. Instead, he did something else, something better: he gained and gave hope for this brave new world.
The Commonwealth Minutemen, narrated by Preston Garvey (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
When faced with the remnant of the Commonwealth Minutemen, the Sole Survivor was reminded of a soldier's first and most important duty: to protect. Taking command as General, the Survivor rebuilt the Minutemen stronger and more determined than ever. When it became apparent that they could no longer afford to turn a blind eye to the Institute, they attacked and brought Commonwealth justice to the boogeyman.
With the Institute destroyed and the Castle once more in their hands, the Minutemen rose to become the dominant power within the Commonwealth and their ranks swelled. Soon, a new nation would grow from the ruins of Massachusetts, as it had so many centuries ago. And the Minutemen would always be its defenders, ready to protect the people at a minute's notice.
The Institute, narrated by Father (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Once reunited with his son after searching for so long, the Sole Survivor did not find the baby who had been stolen from him by the Institute, but a grown man who had spent a lifetime under its guidance. When faced with the choice of his own happiness or the safety of the Commonwealth, the Sole Survivor found he could not make the selfish decision and destroyed the Institute. At his son's deathbed, the Sole Survivor made one last attempt to reconcile with his child, but to no avail. Shaun perished moments before the Institute's destruction, cursing his father's name.
Despite his staunch opposition to the Institute, the Sole Survivor was not merciless. He activated the evacuation protocol and many of the Institute's personnel, both human and synth, managed to survive the detonation. Now stranded in the Wasteland they so feared, time will tell if 'the best hope for humanity' can embrace the humanity that still exists within the Commonwealth.
The Brotherhood of Steel, narrated by Arthur Maxson (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
The Brotherhood had failed in its mission. Their victory was stolen from them by the Sole Survivor and the Minutemen. What would have taken the Brotherhood their elite forces and greatest weapon, the Minutemen achieved through sheer determination. While many of the Brotherhood soldiers saw this as a betrayal, others saw it as a much-needed reminder of just what the Brotherhood was fighting for since its formation: hope for humanity. With the Minutemen's rise, so too rose the tension between the two factions. Thankfully, what might have been another war in the making was soon turned into a peace agreement for the betterment of the Commonwealth.
Though both Elder Maxson and the Sole Survivor respected each other greatly, too much had occurred for either man to ever fully understand the other. Eventually, both Maxson and the Prydwen returned to the Capital Wasteland, leaving only a small detachment of Brotherhood personnel at Boston Airport and the Cambridge Police Department. As the Citadel grew closer in sight, Maxson reflected on the events of what happened in the Commonwealth, the loss of two of his most promising Brothers and the Minutemen's victory over the Institute. For the first time in many years, Maxson wondered if he had strayed too far from his mentor's teachings.
The Railroad, narrated by Desdemona (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
When exposed at Bunker Hill, Agent Fixer could no longer aid the Railroad in their plans for a Synth rebellion within the Institute. Nor, did he want to, as his and Desdemona's visions for the future of the Commonwealth were too different to console. Though they hadn't meant to, the Minutemen had freed the Synths from the Institute and every Railroad agent who had fell to them had been avenged.
Desdemona was proven right in one regard, however. Despite the Sole Survivor's faith in them, many of the people of the Commonwealth, after centuries of fear and suspicion, were reluctant, and even unwilling sometimes, to accept Synths as equals. Violence occurred too many times and the Railroad continued to operate from the shadows to aide the Synths. Still, after fighting for so long, the Synths were free at last and that, at least, was enough for Desdemona.
Preston Garvey, narrated by Preston Garvey (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Evacuation sounded)
After fighting for what seemed like a lost cause for so long, the sight of the Minutemen returned to glory brought a tear to Preston's eye. They were the good guys once again and this time, they weren't going anywhere. Preston continued to fight alongside the man who made it all happen for years to come, always ready to protect the people at a minute's notice.
It was the Institute's fall that proved to Preston just how far the Minutemen had gone and just what kind of man the Sole Survivor was. In less than a year, he had turned the Minutemen from two men armed with laser muskets, to an elite militia that could go throw hands with with the best of them. And when the fate of the Institute was in his hands, he sounded the evacuation. Preston knew just how much his General had lost to the Institute, he knew what lesser men might've done in his shoes. Preston Garvey was honored to call the Sole Survivor General and friend.
Codsworth, narrated by Codsworth (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Codsworth continued to serve his master faithfully, as he had all those centuries ago before the Great War. Though he had no heart, he felt as though it was swelling with pride as he saw the Sole Survivor give rise to a new day for the Commonwealth. The two old relics had found a place for themselves in the new world at last and Codsworth couldn't have been happier.
Piper Wright, narrated by Piper Wright (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Romance Piper)
At long last, the Institute was gone and Piper couldn't say she was going to miss them. She and Nat kept publishing the truth from Publick Occurrences, though her stories were a bit more warmly received now than before. She still made sure to travel with Blue when she could, though. After all, what's a better way to get the latest scoop than with someone you love?
Nick Valentine, narrated by Nick Valentine (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Complete Long Time Coming)
After decades of struggling with muddled memories of a life he never lived, Nick Valentine finally found some form of peace with the help of the Sole Survivor. Though both Eddie Winter and the Institute may have been gone, there were still plenty of cases left in the Commonwealth for Nick and his partner to crack and plenty of justice to be dealt.
Paladin Danse, narrated by Paladin Danse (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Spare Danse during Blind Betrayal)
Danse eventually came to accept his true identity, though he never fully abandoned the Brotherhood ideals he had held so dearly. Though he was somewhat disappointed to see the Brotherhood fail in its mission, he was proud to see the man he considered a true brother bring down the Institute. He and the Sole Survivor continued travelling together, purging the Commonwealth of abominations and making it a safer place for humanity, what ever form it may take.
Deacon, narrated by Deacon (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Even if it wasn't the Railroad that dealt the final blow, Deacon was glad to see both the Institute blown sky high and the Synths freed. Despite sticking to the idea that you can't trust everyone, Deacon was happy he could at least trust the Sole Survivor and the two kept helping Synths and having adventures on behalf of the Railroad. Though, which ones were real and which ones he was lying about was anyone's guess.
X6-88, narrated by X6-88 (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
The destruction of the Institute shook X6-88 to his core. He wandered the Commonwealth aimlessly, keeping himself alive out of sheer spite. Eventually, he channeled his despair and anger into a furious vengeance and tracked down the Sole Survivor in order to avenge the Institute. In the end, X6 was no match for him and was killed, his body buried in an unmarked grave south of Sanctuary.
Cait, narrated by Cait (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Cure Cait of her addictions)
After getting her addictions purged at Vault 95, Cait kept travelling with the Sole Survivor. After a lifetime spent only looking after herself, it sure as hell was nice to finally have someone she could trust to watch her back. She was surprised (and a bit impressed) to see him rebuild the Minutemen and take down the Institute. Still, she shouldn't have been too surprised. If he could fix someone as broken as her, the Commonwealth couldn't have been that much more difficult.
Curie, narrated by Curie (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
After the Sole Survivor freed her from Vault 81, Curie quickly embraced the freedom offered to her by the Commonwealth and her new synth body, only occasionally forgetting things such as breathing and sleep. As she had said she would, Curie continued to discover new innovations in the field of medicine and even began teaching it to others. At long last, Curie felt as though she had contributed something to the world.
Hancock, narrated by John Hancock (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Hancock was happy to see those Institute bastards get what they deserved, happier still to know it was the Sole Survivor who sent them sky high. He kept travelling with the Minutemen General, helping the good folks and hurting the bad ones. Of course, he still had a town to run and he never strayed from Goodneighbor for too long. It would take him a while, but Hancock did eventually realize that anarchy didn't equal freedom and, reluctantly, starting giving the neighborhood a bit more rules. Still, he always made sure Goodneighbor was of the people, for the people.
MacCready, narrated by Robert MacCready (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Complete Long Road Ahead)
After getting Prevent from Med-Tek with the Sole Survivor, MacCready was relieved to hear it worked a few weeks later and that Duncan was alive and well. Eventually, MacCready left the Sole Survivor's company and returned to his home to reunite with his son. As he left though, the-mayor-turned-merc was impressed to see the Minutemen succeed despite his doubts and couldn't help but be reminded of another mungo who pulled off a similar trick a long time ago…
Strong, narrated by Strong (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Strong kept following his new leader, happy to crush things for him. He was eventually told that the Milk of Human Kindness wasn't really milk, but a met-a-for. At first mad at being tricked, he was also told that the Milk was why Minutemen won against Institute, because they helped each other. Strong was confused at first, but he figured it out, at least he thinks he did.
Diamond City, narrated by Piper Wright (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
With the Institute gone and 'Mayor Mcdonough' exposed, Diamond City was finally free of the Institute's influence. With the Minutemen defending it and the City Council running it, the city prospered and even began allowing Ghouls within the walls once again. The Great Green Jewel of the Commonwealth had been polished to a shining gem and it was thanks to the Sole Survivor.
Goodneighbor, narrated by John Hancock (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Goodneighbor flourished following the Institute's destruction, and even began patching things up with Diamond City after Mcdonough was exposed. More than a few drifters went back to the Great Green Jewel when the Anti-Ghoul ban was uplifted, but most stood by Mayor Hancock, even as he began enforcing more laws to rein in some of the neighborhood's chaos. In any case, Goodneighbor kept on as it had before, "of the people, for the people".
Bunker Hill, narrated by Kessler (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
With the Minutemen's help, Bunker Hill quickly recovered following the battle. Kessler, after Judge Zeller's attacks, the battle and the Minutemen's victory of the Institute, felt she was no longer capable of properly leading the Hill and stepped down as Mayor. She was quickly replaced by Old Man Stockton, who's caravan ties and Pro-Synth leanings not only turned the Hill into a bustling trade hub, but also a haven for Synth refugees in the Commonwealth.
Vault 81, narrated by Overseer Mcnamara (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Vault 81 began opening up more and more to the Commonwealth following Austin's recovery thanks to the efforts of the Sole Survivor. With discovery of the hidden wing, the Vault's maintenance problems diminished rapidly at the presence of spare parts and tools and Vault 81 began thriving again.
Sanctuary, narrated by Sturges (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
After helping destroy the Institute, Sanctuary continued to prosper and expand, led by the now Mayor Sturges. The Longs and Mama Murthy stayed there, even after the Gunners were kicked out of Quincy, having settled into their new lives there. Despite welcoming the Sole Survivor with open arms, (you can't exactly kick a man out of his own place, after all), he never visited too often and even then, he only stayed long enough to pay his respects.
The Raiders, narrated by Bosco (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Kill all named raider bosses)
Following his death, Bosco's raider empire in the ruins of Boston fell to pieces. Gangs splintered and went to war with each other and were easy pickings for the Minutemen. By year's end, most of them had been driven out of Boston and only a few gangs remained in the outskirts of the Commonwealth.
The Gunners, narrated by Captain Wes (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Kill Captain Wes)
Captain Wes, after years of leading the Gunners in the Commonwealth, was finally killed. Shot down in his own HQ by the Sole Survivor himself after the Plaza was invaded by the Minutemen. Without his leadership, the Gunners fell to pieces, with dozens of would-be warlords attempting to take his place. Nearly all of them would be wiped out by the Minutemen. Those who survived, fled the Commonwealth for greener pastures.
Quincy, narrated by Clint (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Do not kill Clint)
Quincy was one of the last Gunner holdouts after the Plaza was seized by the Minutemen and Captain Wes was killed. The traitor Clint and his lieutenants attempted to rebuild a retaliatory force as quickly as possible, but it was too late by the time the Minutemen came. After a three-day siege on the town, Clint was captured by Preston Garvey himself. After a quick military trial, he was found guilty of murder of civilians, murder of his commanding officer, wanton destruction, plunder and treason. He was publicly hanged in the town square before being buried in an unmarked grave. The town was swiftly resettled and began prospering once more and a memorial was constructed, dedicated to the brave men and women who had lost their lived during the Quincy Massacre.
The Forged, narrated by Slag (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Kill Slag)
After Slag's death, the Forged fell into disarray and joined the already numerous raider wars spreading across the Commonwealth. They too were killed by the Minutemen and Saugus Iron Works would be abandoned to the scavengers.
The U.S.S Constitution, narrated by Captain Ironsides (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Side with the crew of the Constitution)
The loyal crew of the U.S.S Constitution celebrated its successful venture and escape from the dastardly Weatherby Savings and Loans. The sight of the mighty vessel careening through the Boston skyline was surely an awe-inspiring sight for all. The good Captain Ironsides began drawing plans for the next voyage to the Atlantic to begin its approach to China.
The Cabot Family, narrated by Jack Cabot (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Kill Lorenzo Cabot)
Jack and his family mourned Lorenzo, none more than Jack himself. Despite everything he was and did, Jack loved his father greatly and was devastated he could not free him from the cursed crown. Despite his ideas of an expedition to the Mojave, Jack found he could not abandon his family now that Lorenzo was dead. He and his family passed away peacefully after several centuries of life. Only Edward Deagon inhabits Cabot House now.
The Yangtze-31, narrated by Captain Zhao (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Captain Zhao returned to his home in the Yangtze, after 200 years of penance in the ruins of the city he had destroyed, his heart swelled as he approached China's shores. There was much to be done in his homeland and he would rebuild her house by house, just as his capitalist friend would rebuild his own home.
Covenant, narrated by Amelia Stockton (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Save Amelia Stockton)
After killing Dr. Chambers for her crimes, the Sole Survivor returned to Covenant with a garrison of Minutemen in tow. Despite the townspeople's efforts, the settlement fell to the Minutemen and the settlers were arrested for their actions. The town was resettled following the Institute's destruction. Ironically, its new inhabitants were Synth Refugees and the once Synth-fearing town became a new safehouse for the Railroad.
Ronnie Shaw, narrated by Ronnie Shaw (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Ronnie Shaw, now Colonel Shaw, was sure as hell pleased to see those Institute bastards get the boot. After the Minutemen's victory, Shaw kept looking after the Castle as it was restored to its former glory, training recruits and keeping everything in line when the good General was out. Ronnie was proud to see the Minutemen brought back from the brink and even a bit proud of the new General, though she kept that to herself.
Dr. Li, narrated by Madison Li (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
Madison Li returned to the Capital Wasteland alongside most of the Brotherhood following the Institute's destruction. Though furious at the loss of knowledge and potential, she was somewhat relieved to find that many of her former colleagues survived the her disappointment, the one person she had been hoping to make amends with was nowhere to be found in the ruins of DC. Finding herself at odds with the Brotherhood once again, she left the Citadel and the Capital Wastes once more, this time seeking out the person she had abandoned ten years ago.
Kent Connoly, narrated by Kent Connoly (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Complete the Silver Shroud)
After the fight at Milton General, Kent knew he had his fill of adventure. Seeing the Minutemen restore peace to the Commonwealth reminded him that there were still heroes out in the world and he found himself leaving the Memory Den, no longer needing to escape to the past. Still, he would never forget that for just a moment, the Silver Shroud had leapt out of the comics and been made a reality.
Pickman, narrated by Pickman (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Spare Pickman)
When confronted with the artist Pickman in the bowels of his gallery, the Sole Survivor -albeit reluctantly – spared the madman. Pickman continued to hunt down raiders, turning the monsters into works of art whose beauty only he could appreciate.
Dr. Virgil, narrated by Brian Virgil (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
After curing himself, Brian Virgil was recovered from the Glowing Sea by the Minutemen. Initially upset to learn of the Institute's destruction, he was at least satisfied to know that any remnants of the FEV lab had been completely destroyed, as well as relieved to know the evacuation had been activated before the detonation. The loss of the Institute's equipment set back any immediate hope for an cure for the FEV virus for some time, however.
Scribe Haylen, narrated by Scribe Haylen (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Spare Danse during Blind Betrayal)
Scribe Haylen was grateful to the Sole Survivor for sparing Danse's life. When the Minutemen defeated the Institute, she was one of the few who openly defended the General and actively tried maintain a diplomatic relationship between the two factions. When the majority of the Brotherhood returned to the Capital Wastes, Haylen stayed behind. She couldn't bring herself to abandon Danse, though eventually she did eventually leave the Brotherhood, no longer able to stomach their dogma after they so callously turned on her friend and mentor.
Shaun, narrated by Shaun (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma, Adopt Synth Shaun)
Shaun returned to the Castle alongside his father. Though he didn't realize it, while he wasn't the Sole Survivor's real son, the man loved him as a son regardless. After fighting for so long, the General had his son, regardless of what form he took. Synth, human, it didn't matter. Shaun was the son of the Sole Survivor and that was all that either of them cared about.
Kellogg, narrated by Conrad Kellogg (Minutemen Ending, Good Karma)
After over a century of life, Kellogg finally met his match in the bowels of Fort Hagen and the grizzled old merc faced the justice that had he had evaded for so long. His body was buried in a unmarked grave a few miles south of Hagen. Those who knew him agreed it was far more than he deserved.
Closing narration, narrated by Ron Perlman
And so, the Sole Survivor of Vault 111 changed the Commonwealth forever. Despite this change, even in this new world, things continued as they had before the bombs felled. Blood was spilt and people lived and people died. Because war…war never changes.
AN: And that concludes the first chapter of Fallout 4 Epilogues, did you like it? Did you hate it? Let me know. Also let me know if you feel like I missed anything. Next chapter will explore the Bad Karma Minutemen ending, but that will come out after the next chapter of Hazbin Hollow. Until then, take care. – Bones
