AN: Hi. Oh god, this is awkward. I'm very sorry it's been a few months, college and writer's block isn't a fun thing to deal with. To make up for being MIA since June, take this chapter. Now I know what you're thinking: How can you make the Minutemen Ending bad? Well to start off I think the Well-Intention Extremist trope is a good place to begin. How far can a hero fall? Let's see, shall we?

I do not own the Fallout series.

Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma

Intro, narrated by Ron Perlman

The Sole Survivor, the man who had cheated time in Vault 111, who had faced the Wasteland to find his son, had instead changed the Commonwealth forever.

The Sole Survivor, narrated by Ron Perlman (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

With the aid of the Commonwealth Minuteman as their General, the Sole Survivor destroyed the greatest threat the Commonwealth had ever faced: The Institute. Though the Commonwealth was now free of its boogeyman, the Sole Survivor had sacrificed the chance of reconnecting with his son. Despite this loss, the people were free and for the first time in centuries, could make their own choices without fear of the Institute's shadow looming over them.

The Survivor, a remnant of the brutal and ruthless militantism of Pre-War United States, brought order to the Commonwealth through discipline and brute force. He broke the Institute chains, shattered the Brotherhood as a threat, and wiped out the Railroad's anarchy. His grief for the destruction of his family, his home and his nation became the driving power behind a vicious crusade that would either tame this new world or perish with it.

The Commonwealth Minutemen, narrated by Preston Garvey (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

It was in the Museum of Freedom, a shrine dedicated to the might of the Pre-War world, that the Sole Survivor discovered the last of the Minutemen. In these settlers, the Survivor saw potential. Taking command as General, he rebuilt the Minutemen anew, stronger and more disciplined than ever before. The Survivor saw the threats that plagued the Commonwealth and disposed of them. The Institute, the Brotherhood, the Railroad, each tested their mettle, and each fell under the onslaught.

At the height of their power, the Minuteman had transcended. No longer simple farmers armed with pipe pistols, they were the making of a new army, a siege engine that would subjugate the Commonwealth and bring order to the ruins of Massachusetts. Each sacrifice was a necessity, each right taken an acceptable loss, and each death was a martyr to their just cause. Peace came to the Commonwealth, but at the cost of freedom.

The Institute, narrated by Father (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, evacuation not sounded)

After infiltrating the bowels of the Institute, the Sole Survivor found not the innocent boy that had been stolen from him, but a man whose hands were soaked in the blood of the Commonwealth's citizens. Realizing that the son he had lost would never be returned to him, the General rejected the Institute and had it destroyed. He paid no heed to the figure on his deathbed, the son he had wanted had already died long ago.

The Sole Survivor was so disgusted at the Institute's atrocities that he took it upon himself to raze it to its foundation. Nothing, not even a single soul, could be allowed to leave and threaten the Commonwealth again. The evacuation went ignored, and everyone, both human and synth in the Institute, perished in nuclear fire. Their deaths were met with thunderous applause by the people of the Commonwealth. The best hope for humanity was gone forever.

The Brotherhood of Steel, narrated by Arthur Maxson (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Brotherhood is Destroyed)

The Brotherhood had fallen. The Sole Survivor deemed them a threat to the Commonwealth's safety and brought them down in fiery blaze. With the Castle's artillery, their mighty airship, the Prydwen was shot down, killing all aboard. Among the dead, was Elder Arthur Maxson. Though a small retaliatory force attempted to avenge their brothers, they too were destroyed, and the Brotherhood of Steel was no more in the Commonwealth.

While the Minutemen celebrated the fall of the Prydwen as a great victory, to the Citadel in the Capital Wasteland, it was the ringing of a death knell. Not only did this undo a decade of progress, it was the end of an era for the Brotherhood as a whole. With the death of Arthur Maxson, an ancient dynasty of elders dating back to before the Great War, has finally ended. Life in the Brotherhood of Steel is about to change. And nothing will ever be the same.

The Railroad, narrated by Desdemona (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Railroad is destroyed)

The Sole Survivor turned on the Railroad, to him, their radical ideology could not be tolerated. Like the Switchboard before it, the Old North Church was breached and wiped out. The attack killed many of the Railroad's leadership, including Desdemona. Those who survive tried feebly to rebuild, but it was for nothing. The Institute's destruction killed nearly all the Synths the Railroad hoped to free and their cause withered away.

The remaining synths who survived the Institute's destruction fled the Commonwealth for safer waters, those that were discovered were mercilessly gunned down. Few people knew of the Railroad, even less mourned its destruction. Their name was swiftly forgotten by the annals of history. It was the end of the line for the Railroad and there was only darkness to meet them.

Preston Garvey, narrated by Preston Garvey (Minutemen Ending, evacuation not sounded, Bloody Mess Perk)

At first, seeing the General bring the Minutemen back was a dream come true for Preston Garvey. As time went on, however, Preston became more and more aware of how far the General was willing to go to secure peace and how much he was willing to sacrifice. Preston Garvey realized with dread just what he had let loose on the Commonwealth.

It was the Institute's destruction that broke him. All those people, innocent civilians, killed. When he confronted the General, the Survivor listened patiently as Preston scolded and belittled him for his crimes. When he was done, the General calmy shot and killed him on the grounds of 'treason'. Preston Garvey's death was falsified with a report claiming he had perished serving the Minutemen. He became a martyr to their cause and remembered as a hero for all the wrong reasons.

Codsworth, narrated by Codsworth (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Robotics Expert Perk)

Codsworth tried to keep serving his master faithfully, tried to heal the pain the events of Vault 111 left in the Sole Survivor's heart. In the end, he could not stomach his master's cruel actions any longer and pleaded with him to stop. What happened after, the Mr. Handy couldn't remember. Was there a fight? No, of course not. His master was wise and knew best. Codsworth continued to serve his master faithfully, loyal and unquestioning, just as he should.

Piper Wright, narrated by Piper Wright (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

Though Piper was ecstatic to see the Institute gone, what replaced it was something much worse. The Minutemen, under their new General, went from a force of justice to siege engine looking to subjugate the entire Commonwealth. Piper tried fighting this new enemy the only way she knew, through the paper. The Sole Survivor's tolerance for her antics was far less than the Institute's. One morning, Diamond City woke to find Publick Occurrences abandoned, the Wright Sisters missing and their printer in shambles. The city took the message to heart very quickly.

Nick Valentine, narrated by Nick Valentine (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, do not complete Long Time Coming)

Nick Valentine severed ties with the Sole Survivor following the destruction of the Institute. While he had no love lost for the Institute, Nick knew the General had gone too far. Even as the Commonwealth changed around him, Nick kept keeping on. With his head weighed down with another man's memories, the detective took a case near one of the Minutemen's patrol routes. The next day, one of the patrols happened upon several 'spare parts' ripe for salvage.

Paladin Danse, narrated by Paladin Danse (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Danse during Blind Betrayal, Destroy the Brotherhood)

Danse, after being revealed as a Synth, was killed at the hands of the Sole Survivor. Perhaps this was a mercy, as he never lived to see the Brotherhood's destruction at the hands of the Minutemen. Despite this 'betrayal', the General remembered the Paladin fondly and thanked him for inspiring him to begin his crusade. He even went so far as to give his fellow soldier a proper burial, a luxury the Survivor rarely gave to his enemies.

Deacon, narrated by Deacon (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Destroy the Railroad)

Deacon was among the dead killed during the Minutemen's raid on the Old North Church. He watched as the Railroad, everything they had worked towards, was destroyed once again. Only this time, he knew there was no recovering. It was the General, Agent Whisper himself, who dealt the killing blow in the end. As he laid dying and watching the Sole Survivor's bloodied form leave the crypt with his soldiers, only one thought crossed his mind: You can't trust everyone.

X6-88, narrated by X6-88 (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

X6-88 was one of the few coursers to survive the Institute's destruction. When the news reached him, he took action quickly and hunted down the traitorous Sole Survivor. The Minutemen General dispatched the Synth swiftly and left his body for the buzzards. To X6-88, the man was the monster who destroyed everything he knew. To the Sole Survivor, the Synth was just another body.

Cait, narrated by Cait (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, kill Cait)

Cait died on the bloodied stage of the Combat Zone, killed in the crossfire during the Sole Survivor's shoot out with the former theatre's raider patrons. Her body was left to rot with the other corpses in the ruined fighting ring, just another nameless raider to the Minuteman General.

Curie, narrated by Curie (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Robotics Expert Perk)

When discovered by the Sole Survivor in the bowels of Vault 81, Curie at first thought her luck had turned around. Her hopes were soon dashed, however. After taking the cure, the Sole Survivor dismantled Curie and took her data stores for himself, her vast medical knowledge sure to prove invaluable to the Minutemen.

Hancock, narrated by John Hancock (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

Hancock was glad to see the Institute blown sky high at first, until the Minutemen decided that the Commonwealth's anarchy had to go. Hancock spoke out against the Sole Survivor's self-righteous crusade and like usual Goodneighbor listened. The city held out for a while against the Minutemen's forces as they purged the Boston ruins, but in the end, the neighborhood fell, and Hancock was gunned down inside the Old State House. His dying words? 'Of the People, For the People'.

MacCready, narrated by Robert MacCready (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, do not complete Long Road Ahead)

MacCready was left forgotten as the Sole Survivor waged war on the Commonwealth. Eventually, desperation drove him to once more attempt to retrieve the cure from Med-Tek. He wasn't heard from again.

Strong, narrated by Strong (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, kill Strong)

Strong was killed by the Survivor on top of Trinity Tower, just another mutant to the Minute-Man. The Milk of Human Kindness had soured in the General's heart.

Diamond City, narrated by Piper Wright (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

After destroying the Institute and killing the imposter Mayor McDonough, the Sole Survivor exploited the uncertainty and fear that plagued Diamond City by establishing marshal law on the city. To the citizens of the Great Green Jewel, this was a comfort, having their city protected by the Minutemen. In truth, it just tightened the General's grip on the Commonwealth. What was liberty for a little better night's sleep in the end?

Goodneighbor, narrated by John Hancock (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

It goes without saying that Goodneighbor didn't take too kindly to the Minutemen throwing their weight around. When the Sole Survivor turned his sights to the Boston ruins, the ol' neighborhood put up a helluva fight. In the end, though, the city fell and those that didn't surrender were hanged from the Old State House. A few drifters did escape with their lives and carried on Goodneighbor's message: Of the People, For the People.

Bunker Hill, narrated by Kessler (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)
Following the battle, Bunker Hill was left so battered that they had no choice but to accept the Minutemen's help or be swallowed up by the raider gangs surrounding them. By the time the city was back on its feet and the raiders wiped out, the people realized the Minutemen weren't going anywhere for better or worse. Still, the roads were safe and secure for the fist time and few people complained. Those that did, though? They learned to keep their mouths shut quickly.

Vault 81, narrated by Overseer McNamara (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

Vault 81 tried to remain neutral during the Sole Survivor's crusade throughout the Commonwealth, but in the end, they too fell to the Minutemen. For centuries, they acted as though the world never ended, keeping the American dream alive. Now, the reality of life in Pre-War America, a life filled with fear and uncertainty under a ruthless military machine, made it clear they had lived a lie.

Covenant, narrated by Dr. Chambers (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Let Chambers continue her work)

Covenant continued to thrive following the Sole Survivor's visit and they celebrated the Institute's destruction. While the rest of the Commonwealth teemed with uncertainty, Covenant eagerly and fervidly supported the Minutemen's crusade.

Sanctuary, narrated by Sturges (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

Out of all the settlements under the Minutemen's banner, Sanctuary held a special place in the Sole Survivor's heart. This fondness might explain why they managed to avoid the brunt of his wrath. A memorial would be built over the ruins of Vault 111 in the years to come.

The Raiders, narrated by Bosco (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill all named raider bosses)

The Raiders were slaughtered like cattle by the Minutemen under their new general. Each hideout and den in the Commonwealth was pillaged and ransacked, and their occupants killed. Their bodies were strung up on telephone poles along trade routes, a message to any would-be bandit that things had changed in the Commonwealth.

The Gunners, narrated by Captain Wes (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Captain Wes)

The Gunners had finally met their match in the Minutemen. Under their new General, the reforged militia drowned their hated rival in sea of blood. The few that survived the relentless onslaught fled. Wes himself was gunned down in his own headquarters. His body dragged out and burned with those of his subordinates. The death knell had been rung for the Gunners, and the Sole Survivor held the bell rope in his hands.

Quincy, narrated by Clint (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Do not kill Clint)

Quincy was given special attention by the Sole Survivor. Instead of throwing bodies at the town's walls in a siege of attrition, the General took the simpler solution. The Gunner-infested town was leveled under a furious barrage of artillery fire. The town's destruction deemed an 'acceptable loss' by the General. Thanks to his power armor, the traitor Clint didn't die when the overpass collapsed under him. He was instead, buried under the rubble and drowned in his own blood when a collapsed rib punctured his lung.

The Forged, narrated by Slag (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Slag)

Slag was killed by the Sole Survivor in the bowels of Saugus Iron and his body was dumped into his beloved crucible. After the Forged were wiped out, the Ironworks was seized by the Minutemen, becoming the first of a new industry in the growing nation of the Commonwealth.

The U.S.S Constitution, narrated by Captain Ironsides (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Side with the Scavengers, Robotics Expert Perk)

The U.S.S Constitution fell to the scavengers and its cargo pilfered by the pirating scavengers. The robotic crew, however, were claimed by the Sole Survivor, their mechanical forms repurposed into robotic infantry for the Minutemen. The good Captain Ironside's himself was used to repair the Castle's old guardian, the mad Sentry-bot S.A.R.G.E.

The Cabot Family, narrated by Jack Cabot (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Lorenzo)

With the death of Lorenzo the Cabot family could run from death no longer. The long years finally caught up to them, as a new day broke over the Commonwealth. Thankfully, they didn't live long enough to see the Minutemen's rise to power and the subjugation of the Commonwealth under the rule of the Sole Survivor.

The Yangtze-31, narrated by Captain Zhao (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Zhao)

Captain Zhao died at the hands of the man whose life he had destroyed 200 years ago. The Sole Survivor took great pleasure in killing the ghoul and leaving the Yangtze to rot in the harbor. After centuries of penance, retribution had finally claimed Zhao.

Ronnie Shaw, narrated by Ronnie Shaw (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)

At first glad to see the Minutemen brought back to power, it soon became clear to Ronnie Shaw that the new General was worse than any idjit, he was ruthless and cruel. When she tried to give him what for, the bastard had her killed on charges of 'treason'. Her body was walled up in the tunnels under the Castle.

Dr. Li, narrated by Madison Li (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Recruit Dr. Li to the Brotherhood, Destroy the Brotherhood)

After years of serving the Institute, Dr. Li had been persuaded to join the Brotherhood by the Sole Survivor. When the Minutemen General turned on the Brotherhood, she survived the Prydwen's destruction by chance. However, she was left buried under rubble, with no way out and no way to be heard. Madison Li died, alone and afraid under the ruins of the Brotherhood's hubris.

Kent Connolly (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Do not complete the Silver Shroud)

Kent continued to host the Silver Shroud Radio show from his apartment in Goodneighbor. He fell into despair, though, when the Minutemen began subjugating the Commonwealth. When the 'neighborhood fell to them, he took his own life. Heroes can see themselves become villains if left uncheck and the Sole Survivor stopped being a hero 200 years ago.

Pickman, narrated by Pickman (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Pickman, Bloody Mess Perk)

Pickman perished within the depths of his gallery, killed by the Sole Survivor. It was a fitting death, one butcher slain by a kindred spirit. The mad artist died with a smile on his lips, knowing that the raiders he so despised would soon face something much, much worse than what he was. His one regret? Not being able to see the Sole Survivor's magnum opus.

Dr. Virgil, narrated by Brian Virgil (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma)
After curing himself, Dr. Virgil was retrieved from the Glowing Sea by the Minutemen. When the Sole Survivor destroyed the Institute and killed all personnel, the doctor was given two options: Be killed for his crimes or earn a pardon by creating Anti-Mutant weapons for the Minutemen. He chose the latter and spent the rest of his days making new agents and toxins for the Minutemen.

Scribe Haylen, narrated by Scribe Haylen (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Danse during Blind Betrayal, Destroy the Brotherhood)

Scribe Haylen had little time to mourn Danse's death, as the Brotherhood was soon under siege by the Minutemen. Two weeks after the Prydwen fell, the Police Department came under fire, and she was killed in the attack.

Shaun, narrated by Shaun (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Abandon Shaun)

When presented with a synthetic copy of the son he lost, the Sole Survivor did not see a second chance at fatherhood. Instead, all he saw was one final twisted jab by the Institute to mock him. He left the…thing that wore his son's face to burn with the rest of the Institute. With Shaun's death, so to did any remaining humanity die in the General's heart as well.

Kellogg, narrated by Conrad Kellogg (Minutemen Ending, Bad Karma, Bloody Mess Perk)

Kellogg died in the bowels of Fort Hagen, his mutilated corpse left to rot by the man whose life he had destroyed. The merc had no idea what he had created in that Vault and soon the whole Commonwealth would know just what the Sole Survivor was capable of.

Closing Narration, narrated by Ron Perlman

So ends the story of the Sole Survivor, another chapter in the annals of the history of humanity. But the tale of humanity will never come to a close, it is the eternal struggle, a conflict with no prize, a war without end. And war…war never changes.

AN: There you go, a Bad Karma Minutemen Ending. I like to think of it as Enclave meets Caesar's Legion with just a hint of the Imperium of Man and Templars for flavor. I'll be going back and fleshing out the last chapter as well as changing the fic's title to Fallout 4 Epilogues. Next chapter is the Institute, Good Karma Ending. That'll come out sometime after Chapter 3 of Hazbin Hollow.

One last thing, a review asked me what I was gonna do for the DLCs. At least, I think that was what they were asking. They didn't write it in English, but I recognize DLC when I see it. To answer, the DLCs well get their own chapters for each faction/karma ending after the six primary faction/karma endings are complete, it saves time and gets these chapters out quicker. That's all, folks. - Bones
