AN: I do not own the Fallout series.
The Railroad Ending, Bad Karma
Introduction, narrated by Ron Perlman
The Sole Survivor, the woman who cheated time in Vault 111, who had faced the Wasteland to find her son, had instead changed the Commonwealth forever.
The Sole Survivor, narrated by Ron Perlman (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Choosing to fight alongside the secretive Railroad as Agent Wanderer, the Sole Survivor struck at the heart of the Institute, freeing the Synths that they had enslaved and freeing the Commonwealth from the terror they had sowed. Though she lost the chance to reconnect with her son, the Sole Survivor did not regret her choice. For the first time ever, both human and synth alike were free from the Institute's tyranny.
Embracing the freedom of anarchy and chaos afforded to her in this new world, the Sole Survivor razed the Institute to its foundation and brought the Brotherhood to its knees, bathing both factions in radioactive fire once more and destroying any hope for order in the Commonwealth. Her grief for the loss of her family had shattered Agent Wanderer's morality. It was her against the world… and the world had it coming.
The Railroad, narrated by Desdemona (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
After following the Freedom Trail and discovering the secretive Railroad, the Sole Survivor found allies who could help her in her hunt for the Institute. Accepting the moniker 'Wanderer' from Desdemona, the Survivor aided them in their plight to liberate the enslaved Synths. In the end, she inspired rebellion among the Synth ranks and overthrew the oppression of the Institute.
Though the Synths were free, and the Institute was no more, not all was well. The Sole Survivor, warped and bitter from her experiences, had no love for the Railroad or their agenda, caring only for the freedom helping them gave her. No means were too far, no job too brutal. In the end, the Railroad feared the monster they had unleashed more than they ever feared the Institute.
The Institute, narrated by Father (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
After infiltrating the bowels of the Institute, the Sole Survivor did not find the baby that had been stolen from her, but a grown man who sold his soul for control over all he surveyed. Realizing that the son she searched for would never be returned to her, the Survivor rejected the Institute and orchestrated its destruction. When faces with the figure that wore her son's face, Agent Wanderer smothered him in his deathbed.
The Sole Survivor destroyed the Institute gleefully, only sounding the evacuation to avoid trouble with Desdemona. At long last, the Institute was finally gone, and everyone within, both human and synth, were at the mercy of a merciless wasteland. The best hope for humanity was gone forever.
The Brotherhood of Steel, narrated by Arthur Maxson (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
The Brotherhood had fallen. Their obsession with control had deemed them enemies in the eyes of the Sole Survivor and the Railroad. By sabotaging their mighty airship, the Prydwen, the Railroad brought them down in a fiery red glare. With the death of Elder Maxson, any chance for order in the Commonwealth were destroyed.
With the Brotherhood gone, the Railroad could finally operate without fear of destruction. They were foolish, trying to bring order to the chaotic Commonwealth. There was nothing worth saving in the Wasteland, it was a grave, with only monsters to inhabit it.
The Commonwealth Minutemen, narrated by Preston Garvey (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
The Commonwealth Minutemen were no more. The Sole Survivor ignored the pleas of Preston Garvey and left the Quincy Survivors to perish within the Museum of Freedom. They had put up the good fight for as long as they could, but in the end, it wasn't enough. The last Minutemen fell in the line of duty and all was quiet.
With the Minutemen finally gone and the Brotherhood left a burning wreck, there was no chance for law and order in the Commonwealth. Raider gangs flourished while settlements withered. All the while, the Railroad remained apathetic to the plight of the settlers and the Sole Survivor basked in the chaos, triumphant in the natural state of the Wasteland.
Deacon, narrated by Deacon (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
It was one hell of a fight, but finally, the Institute was gone and the Synths were free. Despite this, he couldn't fully enjoy the victory. With the Institute destroyed, there would be no more Gen3 synths and with the relay scattering them across the Commonwealth, how many would be left for the Railroad to save?
Deacon couldn't help but begin to be wary of the Sole Survivor. The Vault Dweller was a hell of an agent, but he wondered just how much of her devotion to the Railroad's cause was genuine, and how much was an excuse for the freedom and revenge they provided her. Whenever he was working with her, one thought was constantly ringing in his head: 'You can't trust everyone'.
Codsworth, narrated by Codsworth (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Codsworth tried to keep serving his master faithfully, tried to heal the pain the events of Vault 111 left in the Sole Survivor's heart. In the end, he could not stomach his master's cruel actions any longer and pleaded with her to stop. She left him a pile of scrap in the ruins of Sanctuary for his insubordination.
Piper Wright, narrated by Piper Wright (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
At long last, the Institute was gone, and Piper couldn't say she was going to miss them. She and Nat kept publishing the truth from Publick Occurrences, though her stories were a bit more warmly received now. There were plenty of stories to be found in the chaos following the Institute and the Brotherhood's destruction and Piper was always ready to get the latest scoop.
Nick Valentine, narrated by Nick Valentine (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do not complete Long Time Coming)
Nick and the Sole Survivor parted ways shortly after the destruction of the Institute. While he had no love for his makers and sympathized with the Railroad's cause, he knew that neither they or their agent had any concern for the people of the Commonwealth. With a headful of memories that were never his, Nick Valentine continued to bring justice the Commonwealth, one case at a time.
Preston Garvey, narrated by Preston Garvey (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do not complete When Freedom Calls)
What little of Preston Garvey's hope remained after Quincy died when the Sole Survivor left him and the Settlers to their fate. After that, the fight in him burnt out. He stood there, is broken acceptance, as the raiders broke through the door and killed them to the last.
Paladin Danse, narrated by Paladin Danse (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do not complete Blind Betrayal)
Paladin Danse was among the hundreds of Brotherhood soldiers killed during when the Prydwen had been brought down by the Railroad. He died not knowing it was the woman he sponsored that betrayed the Brotherhood, or what he really was. It didn't matter in the end, human, synth, Paladin Danse was just another corpse in the mass grave that was the Commonwealth.
X6-88, narrated by X6-88 (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
The destruction of the Institute shook X6-88 to his core. He wondered the Commonwealth aimlessly for months, keeping himself alive out of pure spite. Eventually, he channeled his despair and anger into a furious vengeance and hunted down the Sole Survivor. In the end, he wasn't a match for her and was killed, just another body to the vault dweller.
Cait, narrated by Cait (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Cait)
Cait died on the bloody stage of the Combat Zone, killed in the crossfire during the Sole Survivor's shootout with the former theatre's raider patrons. Her body was left to rot in the ruined fighting ring, just another nameless raider corpse to the Agent.
Curie, narrated by Curie (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do not take Curie on as a companion)
Though Curie hoped that the arrival of the Sole Survivor would put an end to her imprisonment within Vault 81 it was sadly not to be. With cure in hand, the vault dweller was perfectly content to leave the poor Miss Nanny to her fate trapped within the hidden wing of the vault. It was only by the grace of the Overseer that Curie was finally free of her tomb, not happy, but content to serve in the vault's clinic.
Hancock, narrated by John Hancock (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Hancock was happy to see the Institute get blown sky high, and happier still to know that the Synths would get to taste freedom for themselves. Despite this, he eventually parted ways with the Sole Survivor, not liking the way she handled things. As he headed back to the 'Neighborhood, he couldn't help but wonder if there was a thing as too much freedom.
MacCready, narrated by Robert MacCready (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, do not complete Long Road Ahead)
MacCready was left forgotten as the Sole Survivor stirred up trouble in the Commonwealth. Eventually, desperation drove him to once more attempt to retrieve the cure from Med-Tek. He wasn't heard from again.
Strong, narrated by Strong (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Strong continued to follow his new leader. happy to crush things for her. Eventually, he forgot about his search for the milk of human kindness, convinced that he was strong enough on his own to not need it. After all, his leader said she never needed it and she was the strongest there was.
Diamond City, narrated by Piper Wright (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
With the Institute gone and 'Mayor McDonough' exposed, Diamond City was finally free of the Institute's influence. Though the Railroad was to thank for their liberation, the thanks went unsaid, not that the Railroad minded. Despite this, it would still be a long time for the Great Green Jewel to recovery from the paranoia and hearsay spread by McDonough and his Institute pals.
Goodneighbor, narrated by John Hancock (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Goodneighbor flourished following the Institute's destruction, though things were still tense with Diamond City even after McDonough got the boot. More than a few Synth refugees ended up making there way to the 'Ol Neighborhood and though both Hancock and Doc Amari tried keeping 'em safe, violence against them happened too often for both their tastes. Goodneighbor was Of the People, For the People, and Synths, according to sum, just didn't count.
Bunker Hill, narrated by Kessler (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Bunker Hill took one hell of a beating during the Battle, and it took them some time to recover. During that time, resentment built up in more than a few of the residents who blamed both the Railroad and the Synths for bringing trouble to their home and a harsh anti-Synth policy took effect. Without the Hill's caravan routes, the Railroad was forced to draw up new plans for the Synths to leave the Commonwealth.
Vault 81, narrated by Overseer McNamara (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Keep the cure)
The Sole Survivor stole the cure, with no intention of sharing it with anyone. Austin perished hours after the Agent left, leaving a vault in mourning behind her. This act of selfish cruelty further alienated the vault dwellers to the Commonwealth, and Vault 81 continued isolating itself for years to come.
Covenant, narrated by Amelia Stockton (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Though the Sole Survivor saved Amelia Stockton and put an end to the kidnappings at Covenant and the inhumane experiments of Doctor Chambers, she didn't do it out of the good of her heart. When given the payment promised to her by Honest Dan, the Agent left, leaving Covenant to fend for itself.
Sanctuary, narrated by Sturges (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do no complete Sanctuary)
Sanctuary was left to wither and rot by the Sole Survivor. The memories of her former home left a bitter taste in her mouth. Only the vault atop the hill ever held her attention and even that fell silent once more in the years to come.
The Raiders, narrated by Bosco (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do not kill Bosco)
Bosco's continued his descent into insanity rapidly, as the rabes continued to deteriorate his already unstable and sociopathic mind. When all greater thought finally left him and he completed his transformation into beast hood, he was killed by his now openly rebellious subordinates. The thing once known as Bosco died and his once great raider empire in the Boston ruins fell to pieces.
The Gunners, narrated by Captain Wes (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Captain Wes)
With the death of Captain Wes, the Gunner forces in the Commonwealth were thrown into disarray. The chaotic in-fighting served as a boon for the Railroad, as less organized militia meant safer roads for the Synths. For the Sole Survivor, it gave the satisfaction of seeing another would be control freak collapse under its own obsoletion.
Quincy, narrated by Clint (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Clint)
With the traitor Clint killed, Quincy fell quickly during the frenzy of the Gunner civil wars. During the vicious fighting, the town caught fire and burned to the ground, brining an end to both the once great settlement and the Gunners trapped within.
The Forged, narrated by Slag (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Slag)
After Slag was killed by the Sole Survivor, the Forged were leaderless and left vulnerable. They joined the already chaotic raider wars and were quickly wiped out. Saugus Ironworks was left abandoned for the scavengers.
The USS Constitution, narrated by Captain Ironsides (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Side with the Scavengers)
Greed overtook integrity in the Sole Survivor, and she sided with the honorless scavengers. Though the venerable Captain Ironsides and his loyal crew put up a valiant fight, it was to no avail. The Constitution fell to the pirates and its cargo pilfered. Though, the scavengers did face some retribution. After all, if she could betray once, who was to say the Agent couldn't do it again?
The Cabot Family, narrated by Lorenzo Cabot (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Side with Lorenzo)
After delivering his long-delayed retribution on his treacherous family, Lorenzo retired to his ancestral home to return to his own studies, eager to prod and dissect this brave new world available to him. Horror stories began spreading, warning any who listen to keep away from the Cabot House and the terrible old man who resided there.
The Yangtze-31, narrated by Captain Zhao (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Kill Zhao)
Captain Zhao died at the hands of the woman whose life he ruined over 200 years ago. The Sole Survivor took great pleasure in killing the ancient Chinese ghoul and left both him and his submarine to rot in that miserable harbor. After two centuries of penance, retribution had finally claimed Zhao.
Kent Connolly, narrated by Kent Connolly (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Do not complete the Silver Shroud)
Kent Connolly continued hosting the Silver Shroud Radio Show from his apartment in the Memory Den, still holding out for a hero that would never come.
Pickman, narrated by Pickman (Railroad Ending, Good Karma, Kill Pickman)
Pickman perished within the depths of his gallery, killed by the Sole Survivor. It was a fitting end, one butcher slain by a kindred spirit. Despite this, Pickman died restless and unfulfilled, there were so many masterpieces that would go unfinished.
Dr. Virgil, narrated by Brian Virgil (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
After curing himself, Dr. Virgil was left alone in the Glowing Sea, left to rot by the Sole Survivor and the Railroad alike. There, he continued to work on the remaining FEV formula, hoping to find a cure that would never see the light of day.
Scribe Haylen, narrated by Scribe Haylen (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma)
Scribe Haylen had little time to process the destruction of the Prydwen and the Sole Survivor's betrayal. Only a few weeks after the Fall of the airship, the Police Station was under siege from emboldened Railroad forces, and she was killed.
Shaun, narrated by Shaun (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Abandon Shaun)
When presented with the synthetic copy of the son she had lost, the Sole Survivor did not see a second chance at motherhood. Instead, all she saw was one last twisted jab by the Institute to mock her. She abandoned the… thing that wore her son's face, leaving it in the hands of the Railroad. Shaun would never see or hear from his mother again.
Kellogg, narrated by Conrad Kellogg (Railroad Ending, Bad Karma, Bloody Mess Perk)
Kellogg died in the bowels of Fort Hagen; his mutilated corpse left to rot by the woman whose life he had destroyed. The ancient merc had no idea just what he had created in that vault all those years ago and soon the whole Commonwealth would know just what the Sole Survivor was capable of.
Closing narration, narrated by Ron Perlman
So ends the story of the Sole Survivor, another chapter in the annals of the history of humanity. But the tale of humanity will never come to a close, it is the eternal struggle, a conflict with no prize, a war without end. And war…war never changes.
AN: Actually, this was much easier than the first one, who would've guessed? I was trying to go for a Kellogg parallel for this one, because hey, characters who are parallels to their enemies are always fun, right? With this, my friends, we have only one more faction to tackle: you known 'em, you hate to love 'em and/or love to hate 'em, they're the heavy weight champions of the Fallout franchise, it's the Brotherhood of Steel! Woo! Ad Victoriam! Deus Ex Machina! All that good shit.
If you guys have any advice on how to improve my writing, let me know, because I'm not good at this. Like at all.
If you're wondering why the Railroad endings are based on a female Sole Survivor, its because my Railroad playthrough was my only female Sole Survivor.
With that nonsene done with, next chapter comes out after Chapter 6 of Hazbin Hollow, so see you then. That's all folks, take care. - Bones
