The Brotherhood of Steel Ending, Good Karma

Intro, narrated by Ron Perlman

The Sole Survivor, the man who had cheated time in Vault 111, who faced the Wasteland to find his son, had instead changed the Commonwealth forever.

The Sole Survivor, narrated by Ron Perlman (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

Joining the exalted ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel as Sentinel, the Sole Survivor struck at the heart of The Institute, ending their reckless experiments and freeing the Commonwealth from the terror they had sowed for decades. Though he had lost the chance at reconnecting with his son, the Sole Survivor did not regret his choice, for he had struck down the Boogeyman of the Commonwealth.

Choosing to embrace the tenets of valor, the preservation of human life and the safeguarding of dangerous technology, the Sole Survivor gave rise to a Commonwealth that was safe from both the machinations of the Institute and the fanatic delusions of the Railroad. Though he had lost his family, his nation and his home, the Sole Survivor did not fall to vice and despair as others might have. Instead, he stood among his new Brotherhood, clad in energy and steel, as a shining defender of humanity from its most dangerous enemy: itself.

The Brotherhood of Steel, narrated by Arthur Maxson (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

The Brotherhood had won. After aiding Recon Squad Gladius and fighting alongside Paladin Danse, the Sole Survivor once more found himself a soldier, one fighting not for pride and for oil, but for the future of humanity itself. And with his aid, the Brotherhood of Steel had once more saved humanity from its own self-destruction. Their mission was accomplished, both the Institute and their Synth abominations had been destroyed, the Commonwealth was now secure, and its dangerous technology contained until the day that humanity could use them responsibly, should it ever come.

Though he loved his new Brotherhood, and believed in their tenets wholeheartedly, not all was well with the newly christened Sentinel. Though both men admired each other greatly, neither the Sole Survivor nor Arthur Maxson could fully trust each other again; their views on synths, on the people of the Commonwealth, on the Brotherhood's nature itself, were too opposed to be reconciled. Each dubious act weighed on the Sentinel's soul, and though he shouldered them and kept carrying on, as a soldier should, he still found himself divided between what was ordered, and what he felt was just.

The Institute, narrated by Father (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

After infiltrating the bowels of the Institute, the Sole Survivor did not find the innocent child that had been stolen from him, but a grown man whose very nature was the antithesis of everything the Brotherhood believed in. When faced with the choice of his own happiness of the safety of every living soul in the Commonwealth, the Sentinel found that he could not make the selfish decision and – with the aid of the mighty titan, Liberty Prime – destroyed the Institute. At his son's deathbed, the Sole Survivor gave his final goodbye and Shaun perished moments before the Institute's destruction, cursing his father's name.

Despite his loyalty to the Brotherhood, the Sole Survivor was not merciless. Defying the orders of his Elder, and in an attempt to preserve as much life – human and synth alike – as possible, he sounded the evacuation. With many Institute personnel surviving, time will only tell if they will survive the brave new world they had a hand in forming, or be consumed in the Brotherhood's pursuit of judgement.

The Railroad, narrated by Desdemona (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

The Railroad was no more. Agent Fixer proved to be a liar and a traitor, dealing a devastating blow at Bunker Hill before finishing them off when the Brotherhood stormed the Old North Church. With their leadership dead, P.A.M stolen and many of their agents dead and safehouses raided, the Railroad was finished. Only a small handful of operatives would survive and try to rebuild but it would be for naught. It was the end of the line for the Railroad and only darkness greeted them.

With the Institute destroyed and the Railroad wiped out, it seemed as if the Synths of the Commonwealth had a not an ally left. Or so they fought. Time after time, just when it seemed the Brotherhood was closing in on them, something would occur that either through the soldiers off their scent or gave them time to flee. Perhaps, just perhaps, the Synths still had a friend left out there.

The Commonwealth Minutemen, narrated by Preston Garvey (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Do not help rebuild the Minutemen)

Though he saved the settlers from Jared's raiders and helped them establish the settlement of Sanctuary, the Soke Survivor had no interest in rebuilding the Minutemen. At the time he was too concerned with finding his son, and later aiding the Brotherhood of Steel in their battle against the Institute. In the end, the Minutemen were left to fade away as the Brotherhood rose to power.

Even if the Minutemen were done for, there place as defenders of the people would not go unfulfilled. With the Sole Survivor as Sentinel, the Brotherhood of Steel would become the stoic and dauntless protectors of the Commonwealth. Their technology and discipline gave them a unique advantage over the threats plaguing the Commonwealth, an advantage not even the Minutemen in their prime could compete with. The Minutemen were no more, but in their place stood the indomitable will of the Brotherhood, ready to protect the people, at a minute's notice.

Paladin Danse, narrated by Paladin Danse (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Spare Danse during Blind Betrayal)

Though he could only watch from afar, Paladin Danse stood witness to the Brotherhood's triumph over the Institute. At long last, the people of the Commonwealth could live without fear of the malevolent organizations and its dangerous technologies, something that Danse could still find faith in, even if he himself was one of those technologies. Danse would continue to fight alongside his brother, bringing the light of the Brotherhood to those who would resist them, even if he could no longer call himself one of their numbers.

Overtime, Danse would slowly come to accept his true nature, aided at all times by the Sole Survivor and Scribe Haylen alike. What could have been a miserable life of isolation was made just a bit more bearable by the presence of true siblings such as them and it was nothing short of outstanding.

Codsworth, narrated by Codsworth (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

Though Codsworth has his reservations about the Brotherhood, he was glad to see his master achieve some closure after all he had been put through. He continued to serve the Sole Survivor faithfully even as he rose to the rank of Sentinel. The antique Mister Handy was seen as a remnant of the failure and decadence of America before the war, but out of respect for the Sole Survivor, no one said a word against him.

Piper Wright, narrated by Piper Wright (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

At long last, the Institute was gone, and Piper couldn't say she was going to miss them. She and Nat continued to publish the truth from Publick Occurrences, though her reports were a bit more warmly received by the residents of Diamon City now. She and Blue kept wandering the Commonwealth now and then, always on the lookout for the next big scoop.

Nick Valentine, narrated by Nick Valentine (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

After decades of struggling with muddled memories of a life he never lived, Nick Valentine finally found some form of peace with the help of the Sole Survivor. The Brotherhood stiffs may not have cared much for him, but there wasn't much they could do between Diamond City and the Sentinel. Though both Eddie Winter and the Institute may have been gone, there were still plenty of cases left in the Commonwealth for Nick and his partner to crack and plenty of justice to be dealt.

Deacon, narrated by Deacon (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

When Bunker Hill went bust, you didn't have to be P.A.M to know what was coming next. Sure enough, the next time Deacon saw the Sole Survivor it was with a squad of Brotherhood Knights at his back. The Survivor gave the Railroad one last chance to stand down and turn over any knowledge of 'dangerous technologies'. Needless to say, Des's answer was a big no. Deacon died with the rest of the Railroad in the depths of the Old North Church. His last though? You can't trust everyone.

Preston Garvey, narrated by Preston Garvey (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

Though Preston Garvey was grateful to the Sole Survivor for saving him and the settlers at Concord, the death of the Minutemen was a harsh blow. The Brotherhood's new stance on defending the Commonwealth both eased and fanned his fears for the future. He tried to be content with being Sanctuary's defender, but he spent the rest of his life thinking about what could have been.

X6-88, narrated by X6-88 (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

One of the few coursers to survive its destruction, the fall of the Institute shook X6-88 to his core. He wandered the Commonwealth aimlessly, keeping himself alive out of sheer spite. Eventually, he channeled his despair and anger into a furious vengeance and tracked down the Sole Survivor in order to avenge the Institute. In the end, X6 was no match for the Sentinel and was killed, his body buried in an unmarked grave.

Cait, narrated by Cait (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Romance Cait)

Before getting her addictions purged in Vault 95, if someone had told Cait that life would send her her own knight in shining armor after all the shite it dealt her, she would've laughed. Now though, well, even a tough Irish gal could use a knight in shining armor watching her back. Even if the Brotherhood were a bunch of humorless arseholes.

Curie, narrated by Curie (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

After the Sole Survivor freed her from Vault 81, Curie quickly embraced the freedom offered to her by the Commonwealth and her new synth body, only occasionally forgetting things such as breathing and sleep. As she had said she would, Curie continued to discover new innovations in the field of medicine and even began teaching it to others. At long last, Curie felt as though she had contributed something to the world.

Hancock, narrated by John Hancock (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

Hancock was happy to see those Institute bastards get what they deserved, happier still to know it was the Sole Survivor who sent them sky high. Even if he didn't care for the Brotherhood throwing their weight around, he still kept traveling with the Sentinel, helping the good folks and hurtin' the bad ones. Still, he never strayed too far from Goodneighbor, even with the Institute gone, someone had to make sure it stayed free after all.

MacCready, narrated by Robert MacCready (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Complete the Long Road Ahead)

After getting Prevent from Med-Tek with the Sole Survivor, MacCready was relieved to hear it worked a few weeks later and that Duncan was alive and well. Eventually, MacCready left the Sole Survivor's company and returned to his home to reunite with his son. As he left though, the-mayor-turned-merc was impressed to see the Brotherhood succeed despite his doubts and couldn't help but be reminded of another mungo who pulled off a similar trick a long time ago…

Strong, narrated by Strong (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Kill Strong)

Strong was killed at the top of the Trinity Tower by the Sole Survivor, another mutant put out of its misery by the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood and its bucket-heads would wipe out nearly all mutants in the Commonwealth. To them, the milk of human kindness was for humans only.

Diamond City, narrated by Piper Wright (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

With the Institute gone and 'Mayor McDonough' exposed, Diamond City was finally free of the Institute's influence. To the relief of everyone who lived in the city, the Brotherhood had little interest in the settlement's affairs and left the city council to manage. For the first time in decades, Diamond City could chart its own course, and be the Great Green Jewel of the Commonwealth once more.

Goodneighbor, narrated by John Hancock (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

The Brotherhood never had much interest in Goodneighbor, saw the dirty ghoul-ridden city as a waste of time and resources, and that was just fine with Mayor Hancock. Still, even with the Institute gone and the Brotherhood in its place, one thing would always remain the same in Goodneighbor: the city was Of the People, For the People.

Bunker Hill, narrated by Kessler (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

Following the battle and the destruction of both the Institute and the Railroad, Bunker Hill was left to be temporarily occupied by the Brotherhood, in hopes of catching any rogue Synths and Railroad Agents ignorant of the organization's fall. This proved to be a surprising boon for both traders and Brotherhood, however as the Knights stationed at the Hill made quick work of any enterprising raiders and the Caravaneers gave deals that favored the Brotherhood as thanks.

Vault 81, narrated by Overseer McNamara (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Give Austin the cure)

Vault 81 slowly began opening up more and more to the Commonwealth following Austin's recovery. The Brotherhood thankfully had little interest in the Vault and with the discovery of the hidden wing, Vault 81's maintenance problems soon diminished with the presence of spare parts and tools. After seemingly being condemned to a slow stagnation, Vault 81 began thriving again for the first time in decades.

Covenant, narrated by Amelia Stockton (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Save Amelia Stockton)

Despite the Brotherhood's stance on Synths, the Sole Survivor had no love for Dr. Chamber or her inhuman experiments. After killing the mad doctor and destroying the Institute, the Sentinel led a detachment of Brotherhood knights to siege the town, scattering its settlers to the winds. Amelia and her father fled the Commonwealth during the Battle for Bunker Hill, fearing retribution from the Brotherhood.

Sanctuary, narrated by Sturges (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

Sanctuary continued to grow and thrive following the destruction of the Institute. It took a while for the Quincy settlers to grow accustomed to their new homes, but in time, they grew fond of their little island settlement. For whatever reason, the Sole Survivor very rarely visited his former home, only ever having eyes for the vault on the hill.

The Raiders, narrated by Bosco (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Kill all named raider bosses)

With the death of the rabid warboss, Bosco, the raider empire in the Boston ruins fell to pieces. A hundred different splinter gangs formed and fought each other for the scraps, easy pickings for the Brotherhood. Like Old World knights, the Brotherhood purged Boston of the vandals that had plagued it for so long. Only a handful of gangs remain in the outskirts of the Commonwealth, too frightened of the Brotherhood to ever set foot within the marching distance of the Prydwen.

The Gunners, narrated by Captain Wes (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Kill Captain Wes)

The Gunners, after years of unchallenged domination in the Commonwealth, were finally defeated. The Brotherhood, realizing that a rogue paramilitary organization could not go unchecked in the Commonwealth, went to war with the Gunners mercenary company, with Captain Wes killed in his own headquarters by the Sentinel himself. With their leadership killed, the Gunner forces occupying the Commonwealth splintered, with dozens of would-be warlords attempting to take Wes's place. Nearly all of them would be wiped out by the Brotherhood, with the few survivors fleeing for greener pastures.

Quincy, narrated by Clint (Brotherhood Ending Good Karma, Kill Clint)

With the death of the traitor Clint and his lieutenants, the Gunners in Quincy were easy pickings for the Brotherhood. Before they even had the chance to join the already chaotic succession wars, the town was swiftly claimed and the Gunners within killed. In the end, Clint's might makes right worldview, the same worldview that led to his betrayal of the Minutemen, proved to be his undoing.

The Forged, narrated by Slag (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Kill Slag)

After Slag's death, the Forged fell into infighting and disarray, joining the already chaotic raider wars scattered throughout the Commonwealth. What remnants were left following their leader's death were soon wiped out by the Brotherhood, to who Saugus Ironworks made too valuable a target not to secure. In the following years, the forges of Saugus would continue to bellow, manned by scribes and knights instead of raiders and pumping out new materials for the Brotherhood of Steel's crusade.

The U.S.S Constitution, narrated by Captain Ironsides (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Side with the Scavengers)

Though he bore no ill-will to the good crew of the U.S.S Constitution, the Sole Survivor knew that the treasures aboard the ship were too great a bounty to ignore. Siding with the honorless scavengers, the Sentinel laid siege to the ship, destroying the robotic crew and taking the wealth for themselves. When the putrid vultures obeyed their cowardly natures and turned on the Sole Survivor, he bested them as well. The U.S.S Constitution and all its riches were now property of the Brotherhood of Steel.

The Cabot Family, narrated by Jack Cabot (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Side with Jack)

Jack and his family mourned Lorenzo, none more than Jack himself. Despite everything he was and did, Jack loved his father greatly and was devastated he could not free him from the cursed crown. Despite his ideas of an expedition to the Mojave, Jack found he could not abandon his family now that Lorenzo was dead. He and his family passed away peacefully after several centuries of life. Only Edward Deagon inhabits Cabot House now.

The Yangtze-31, narrated by Captain Zhao (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Spare Zhao)

Captain Zhao returned to his home in the Yangtze, after 200 years of penance in the ruins of the city he burned. As he reached China's shores for the first time in two centuries, his heart swelled. Zhao could only hope his capitalist friend would find his more fulfillment with his Steel Brotherhood than he had serving with the Ghost Fleet.

Dr. Li, narrated by Madison Li (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

With great reluctance, Madison Li continued to work alongside the Brotherhood as a Scribe. The destruction of the Institute and the massive loss of life and knowledge sickened her, and she isolated herself away from her so-called 'peers'. An outcast among them, she nevertheless continued to serve, researching technologies and knowledge that the war-mongering Brotherhood would never seek to adopt.

Kent Connoly, narrated by Kent Connoly (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Complete the Silver Shroud)

After the fight at Milton General, Kent knew he had his fill of adventure. Seeing the Brotherhood restore peace to the Commonwealth reminded him that there were still heroes out in the world, and he found himself leaving the Memory Den, no longer needing to escape to the past. Still, he would never forget that for just a moment, the Silver Shroud had leapt out of the comics and been made a reality.

Pickman, narrated by Pickman (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Kill Pickman)

Pickman died within the bowels of his own 'gallery'. The mad artist had been put out of his misery by the Sole Survivor. Despite this, raiders and wanderers alike would avoid the Pickman Gallery for years to come, terrified that they would be the serial killer's newest masterpiece.

Dr. Virgil, narrated by Brian Virgil (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Convince Lancer-Captain Kells that Virgil is cured)

It was not long after curing himself that Brain Virgil was once more visited by the Sole Survivor. Though initially furious to learn of the Institute's destruction, he was quickly relieved to know that the evacuation was sounded and any remains of the FEV labs were buried under several tons of irradiated rubble and water. Offered a pardon by the Brotherhood, Virgil was recruited to their cause, his knowledge now devoted to undoing the many wrongs the Institute had wrought.

Scribe Haylen, narrated by Scribe Haylen (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Spare Danse during Blind Betrayal)

Scribe Haylen was grateful to the Sole Survivor for sparing Danse's life and stayed with the Brotherhood out of respect for both him and Danse, even though her faith in the organization had been irreversibly shaken. Often times, while returning from a tech-recovery mission, she and the Sole Survivor would visit the former-paladin at Listening Point Bravo, because synth or not, Danse was her mentor and friend, and Haylen would respect that, even if the Brotherhood would not.

Shaun, narrated by Shaun (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma, Adopt Synth Shaun)

Shaun returned to the Prydwen with his father, reunited at last. Though he didn't know that he wasn't the Sole Survivor's real son, it didn't matter, the sentinel loved his as his child regardless. While no one could prove that Shaun wasn't human, not everyone believed it, though they never dared to address the Sole Survivor on it, not even Elder Maxson himself. In any case, after so long apart, father and son had reunited, and nothing was gonna change that again.

Kellogg, narrated by Conrad Kellogg (Brotherhood Ending, Good Karma)

After a century of life, Kellogg finally met his match in the bowels of Fort Hagen and the grizzled old merc faced the justice he had evaded for so long. He never thought he'd ever hear of the Brotherhood again after leaving New California, but then again, he never thought he'd see the Sole Survivor again either. Kellogg's body was buried in an unmarked grave a few miles south of Fort Hagen. Those who knew him agreed it was far more than he deserved.

Closing narration, narrated by Ron Perlman

So ends the story of the Sole Survivor, another chapter in the annals of the history of humanity. But the tale of humanity will never come to a close, it is the eternal struggle, a conflict with no prize, a war without end. And war…war never changes.

AN: The Brotherhood everybody, don't ya just love 'em? With this, the final chapter is upon us with the Evil Karma ending of the Brotherhood of Steel. After that, I don't know honestly. I'll probably do the DLC endings and then think up my next fic. Until then, it's back to Hazbin Hollow for me and desperately trying to improve my writing skills. For now, though… that's all, folks. Take care. - Bones
