Owl House Season 1 Episode 10 – Escape of the Palisman
Response to a guest reviewer, I have actually thought of original episodes but only for Season 2. I have 2 original episodes planned for Season 2. None for Season 1. If anyone has any ideas for Season 1 and Season 2 episodes, I'm open to them. Tell me their A-plot and B-plot. I'm not sure if I'll do them so best not to get your hopes up. But I'm all ears.
For now, enjoy these next 2 episodes. I'm publishing two episodes at once this time since these next two weren't exactly all that important. They were pretty much filler episodes in my eyes.
Our troublesome trio was currently at a playground in Bonesborough, alternately named, the "Slayground." It was a circular park that has gates in the front, and then walls bordering the grass. There's a slide adjacent to a strange monster like building with its mouth open, a sand pit with tentacles coming out of it, and a swing set made of large bones connected to a bone made structure with a pointed shingle roof. Sitting on the side on a wooden bench was Luke and Eda they watched King play/conquer the other younger children of the playground. Eda had a calm look on her face with her staff prompted next to her as Luke plays his Nintendo Switch Console, taking a glance at King from time to time.
Luke: You sure there's no need to worry? What if the kids pick on him? My newfound brotherly instincts will kick in if they do.
Eda: He's fine. Look at him.
King is trying to climb the slide.
Luke: It does look like he's having fun. And of course, he's struggling. Aww. Look at the little guy trying to be King of the hill.
King: Stand back, cretins. King finally reaches the top of the slide. Yes! Yes! This is a throne worthy of a tyrant. Bow to me you snotty underlings. Bow!
Kids: Okay.
One does a handstand while the other does a backbend which pleases King.
King: Yes, appease your master.
A child with red hair and runny nose comes up from behind.
Usurper: This isn't for standing, it's for sliding. You try.
The kid shoves King and he rolls down the slide screaming and grunting. Annoyed, he runs over to Luke and Eda, clinging onto the former's leg.
King: Eda! That monster took my throne.
Eda: You mean the baby?
King: No, the usurper. The usurper is riding a spring rider. Luke, I need you to use your karate moves to beat him up.
Luke: King, I'm not beating up a little kid, that'll make me look like a bully.
King: Fine then. Eda! I want you to go over there and blow him up. Kaboom!
Usurper: Kaboom!
Eda: Eda unscrews Owlbert from her staff. Yeah, I'm not using Owlbert to blow up a five-year-old. Owlbert hoots and comes to life. He's got better things to do. Like this...
Eda scratches Owlbert's belly a little and he hoots in enjoyment, Luke watches this with a smile, looking away from his game again.
Luke: That's pretty cute. Say, Eda, how exactly did you get Owlbert?
Eda: Get? I made Owlbert from the branch of an ancient tree. Owlbert hops onto Eda's hand, hoots and Eda fondly smiles. Oh, he's my palisman and we're bonded for life. Owlbert hops to her shoulder, nuzzling her cheek. She then gets intense. I'd ANNIHILATE anyone who'd hurt him.
Luke: Whoa…mama bear alert.
King: Fine. Don't help. Revenge will taste all the sweeter if they fall by my hand alone.
King laughs as the Usurper child walks up from behind and shoves him.
Usurper: Tag, you're it!
The kid laughs and runs off.
Eda: Oh, man. Here we go. King's squeak of rage.
King: Nyeh... nyeh...
He got back on his feet before falling back to the ground, throwing a tantrum while screaming like a tea kettle steaming. Still screaming he charges the boy who pushed him as Luke and Eda laugh at the scene.
Eda: He's like a little teakettle.
Luke: Oh my god! How's that even possible!?
Owlbert scratches at his face. Luke noticed a hole on the bottom of Owlbert's right foot, sort of oval with a triangle tooth pointing in.
Luke: Hey, what's that?
Eda: That's his interlock. So, he only fits on to my staff. Every palisman has one.
As she speaks, everything but her, her staff, and the bench disappears. She gasps to once again find herself in a dark void.
Eda: Luke?
She stands and looks around the void, both her staff and the bench disappear and Eda's starting to get scared.
Eda: Hello?
Luke: Eda?!
Eda: Luke!
In the real-world Luke and Owlbert are looking over an unconscious Eda.
Luke: Eda! Eda! Wake up!
Eda's eyes open, laid down on the bench. Luke helps his teacher up. Eda becomes afraid, that black void only means one thing.
Luke: Are you alright?
Eda: What? Oh, no. The curse. Hey, we have to get home. Now!
Eda grabs her staff and walks away, followed by Owlbert and Luke who's calling out to King.
Luke: King, playtime's over. We have to go!
King is back in the jungle gym, about to get into a fight with the Usurper.
King: Five more minutes, please!
Luke: You can take your throne back another time! We have to leave NOW!
King: Ah, man. He glares at the kid. This isn't over.
Usurper: Okay, let's play again real soon.
He hugs King much to his dismay.
King: No, no. Keep those sticky hands away! Oh, no! He's touching me!
King screams from the hug.
Owl House Intro Music
As the portal gate opens and the camera zooms in on it. Luke opens his eyes to see his falling down, causing him to freak out before something zoomed past and caught him. Luke saw he was saved by Eda along with King, who smirked at the human boy as they flew to her house on her Palisman staff with Luke raising his fist in excitement.
The door where Hooty was opened as Luke steps outside now wearing goggles, twirling his Rebellion sword and struck a pose, aiming his Glyph Gun at the screen. Eda came out with her staff, sharing a grin with Luke. King popped up in front of them in a pose.
A Boiling Isle mural appears, three windows flipping to briefly reveal Gus, Willow, and Amity striking their own poses before burning away to show King commanding an army of stuffed toys, which all fall on him.
Luke rode on Eda's staff like a surfboard, zooming past Bonesborough, flying past Tinella Nosa, sharing a high-five with Gus, Willow being beside him with a plan releasing vines and evading guards that chase him down. Eda and King join in on the fun and they have blast taking to the skies…until they hang on for dear life as a massive monstrous worm-like monster, mouth wide open, lunges at them as they scream in horror.
Then the scene changes back to the Owl House, where it's night-time, and stars twinkle in the sky as the trio are on the roof and looking up into the sky, Eda holding her staff beside her, Luke holding Rebellion downward and King riding his shoulder. Luke opens a hand, sending a ball of light floating into the sky where it bursts to release a blinding flash.
The title card appears:
Owl House
The trio are back in the Owl House where Eda tosses her staff to the couch. She yawns and flops face first onto the couch. Luke quickly walks up to her.
Luke: I'll go get your elixir.
Eda: Don't worry about it. I'll get it myself in a bit.
Luke: Do you need me to stay home and take care of you? My Mom's a nurse so I've learned a thing or two. King could help too.
King: King was drawing on stacks of paper. Hey, leave me out of this!
Eda: Look, I know how to take care of myself. I've had this curse longer than you've been alive.
Luke: So, how'd you get it?
Eda: I don't know.
Luke: You don't know?
Eda: Somebody gave it to me. I don't know who and I don't care because I'm fine, all right? Anyway, don't you have plans with Tweedledum and Twerpledee?
Luke: Well, Willow, Gus, and I are going to the grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus High.
Eda: Eda screws Owlbert back onto the staff. Since when are you into sports outside of your little fighting sport?
Luke: Hey, I'm interested in a lot of sports back home. The fighting ones are just more exciting, plus I'd love to see magic being added into sports. Besides, since I'm going to be a student at Hexside I should try and learn about rivalling schools too. But if you need me to stay...
Eda: Gross. Sympathy. Go! Go have fun at sport. As you teacher and landlord I order you to go have fun with your lame friends.
Luke: You're the boss, teach! He runs off past King. Hooray for sport! King, keep an eye on her and don't spend all night plotting revenge!
King: That drooly faced heathen will know my wrath.
Luke ran towards Hexside where a line of students was lined up behind a strange gondola like creature that sort of looked like a Viking ship with a dragon head and six legs. Students were sat on it. Luke wasn't paying attention as he ran.
Luke: Need to come up with something cool! Maybe, "Hexside's gonna wreck your side!" Hmm, no, that's dumb. How about, "Hexside is the best side in the west side."
He comically yelps when the dragon bus roars and bites at Luke. He cautiously goes around and gets past other students. He goes to Willow and Gus, Willow wearing a yellow baseball cap and Gus wearing a yellow sweatshirt, both have "HEXSIDE" written on them.
Luke: Hey, Amigos!
The trio of friends roar with cheers for Hexside and pose.
Luke: Happy game day, fellow, uh...wait, do I call you guys Hexsidians or something? Ooh! Hexolios!
Willow: Actually, most people call us...winners.
Luke is taken aback by the intensity in Willow's voice.
Luke: Whoa…you demons take sports as seriously as we humans do.
Gus: Grudgby games are the best. The players go through these action-packed trials. And the audience gets to wave flags. Look, I practiced.
Gus pulled out two purple flags before humming and doing a twirl with his arms out before bringing them in and shimmying his shoulders with a serious face. Luke wraps an arm around him.
Luke: Gus, my main man. You've just perfected a human culture. Flag routines are quite common in my world.
Gus squealed in glee, happy to know that he already practiced a piece of human culture.
Luke: Anyway, since I'm gonna be rooting for Hexside, mind telling me where I can find some memorabilia to get into the spirit.
Gus: There's a lost and found box in the cafeteria.
Luke: Ah! The place where mouthguards go to retire. Thanks guys. Try and keep…whatever you call that here till I get back.
He runs off inside the school, leaving Willow and Gus to share confused looks.
Gus: I believe it's called a bus.
A few minutes later Luke has located the lost and found, a giant chest. Luke opens it and pulls out a hat with soda cans attached to it and a yellow #1 foam glove.
Luke: Bingo!
Luke bursts out the door wearing the hat and foam glove, cheering his heart out.
Luke: Woo-hoo! Hexside rules, baby! Let's get this party started! His excitement drops when he notices the ship is gone and only Willow and Gus are left. Uh…where's our ride?
The dragon bus is flying away, with a large student hanging onto the Hexside banner
Giant Boy: HEXSIDE RULES!
Luke: No, wait! Come back! I thought I told you guys to keep it here!?
Willow: Sorry, Luz, they said they were on a schedule, we couldn't get them to stay longer.
Luke: Oh man! That totally sucks! Well, you tried. But why didn't you guys board the bus?
Willow: Willow smiles sweetly. You're our friend Luke. We weren't going to leave you behind.
Gus: I was.
Luke: Willow elbows Gus. Can't we take another bus or maybe even walk to Glandus?
Gus: We'd never make it in time. Glandus is all the way out in the middle of the island.
Luke: Ugh! Slag it!
Willow: And my parents are working, otherwise I'd see if they could give us a ride on their staff.
Luke: A staff? An idea comes to Luke's mind. Oh, I get it! Because staffs fly! We could use Eda's staff to get to Glandus!
Gus: Would she be okay with that?
Luke: If we explain the situation to her! Come on!
Luke and Willow run with Gus leaping after them like a ballerina.
At Owl House, King walks into Eda' bedroom with a stack of paper.
King: Eda! Great news. I thought of the perfect way to get revenge on that usurper. He holds out a piece of paper reading "FIRE?". Now, don't be put off by the complicated premise. I'll break it down for you in small pieces. Huh?
To his horror Eda is in her Owl Beast form on her nest. She growls and advances onto King who screams and falls on his back.
King: Owl Beast! Stay back!
Eda stops right in front of him and backs up, much to King's surprise. She just did what he said and in monster form.
King: Did you just listen to me? He stood up. Uh…come here. Sit.
Eda takes a step forward and stops in front of King, warbling. King notices that only one of Eda's eyes are pitch black and the other is her normal colour. She hasn't fully transformed.
King: Oh, this is an interesting development. Eda's only partially transformed which means she's totally suggestible. He chuckles in delight. Yes. Yes! I think this will do nicely. Forget fire. I've got a greater force to unleash. He points to Eda. You! You're going to help me regain my throne. I mean, if that's okay with you. Right? Eda responds with a growl. I'll take that weird grumble as a yes. I'm just gonna grab a little bottle of elixir in case you go rogue on me.
He grabs a full bottle of elixir and a messenger bag. Several empty bottles fall out of the bag as he drags it, stuffing the elixir inside.
King: Now, to destiny's battlefield: the playground!
Luke: King! Eda! You guys' home!?
This is the last thing King needs right now, Luke finding out about his little stunt.
King: What?! Sit. Stay.
Eda doesn't move and King comes out to close the door and look to Luke approaching him.
Luke: Is Eda up?
King: Who? Oh. That Eda. No, no. She is out like a light. Eda can be heard growling. Oh, man. Can she snore!
Luke: Crap I wanted to ask if I could borrow her staff to fly me, Gus and Willow to Glandis, but I know she needs her rest.
King grabs Eda's staff and hands it over to Luke.
King: Oh, I'm sure it's fine. It's fine. Just take it.
Luke: I can't just take Owlbert without Eda's permission. She said she'd annihilate anyone who hurts him.
King: Don't worry, Eda will understand if it's for a grudgby game. By the time you get back she'll probably still be sleeping.
Luke looks to Owlbert, rubbing him slightly.
Luke: I really owe Gus and Willow one. They missed the bus for me. And it's just for the afternoon. I'm sure Eda wouldn't mind.
King: Not our generous, kind-hearted Eda. Big heart on her.
They stare at each other for a second.
Luke: You know it's pretty obvious you're lying or hiding something from me, but I so do not care right now, I've got a game to get to. Luke runs off. If Eda wakes up, just tell her I'm just borrowing Owlbert.
King: You got it! He talks to himself. Close call.
Luke: What?
King: Luke didn't fully leave yet. Nothing.
Luke: Oh, whatever.
This time Luke leaves for real and King rubs his hands.
King: Close call. He opens the door. And now revenge. Right, Owl Eda? Eda munches on a chair and King chuckles sheepishly. I'm feeling confident about this plan.
Luke opens the front door.
Luke: To Glandus High!
He raises the staff, accidentally hitting Owlbert against the house, waking him up.
Luke: Oh! Sorry, Owlbert. It's okay. We're just on our way to help some friends.
Willow and Gus look at Owlbert in awe, never having seen a real Palisman before.
Luke: Who's ready to board Air Luke?
The trio board the staff.
Willow: Feel that power-to-weight ratio.
Gus: Gus raises his flags. Boys, prepare to fly.
Luke: Next stop, Glandus High. Take flight Owlbert
Owlbert spreads his wings, and the staff rises into the air.
Luke: Now step on it.
Giving a slight slap to the side of his base, Owlbert took off faster than any of them thought as their hats flew off. The kids scream as the staff does a loop-de-loop, then dives into forest, crashing into several trees. It ends when Owlbert smashes into a tree head on. This causes Willow and Gus to fall directly into a bush and Luke gets caught on a branch. His weight causes the branch to snap and he fell on his back.
Owlbert falls directly on top of his head. He looks to see a large crack formed in the middle of his head much to his pain and sadness.
Luke: Luke stood up looking upset. Owlbert! What the hell!? I said step on it, not go full throttle! Huh? Luke notices the crack in Owlbert's head and becomes worried. Owlbert, a-are you okay?
Owlbert hoots in fear, twists himself off the staff, then flies off into the forest much to the horror of Luke runs after and reaches out for him.
Luke: Oh, no. No, no, no! Owlbert, wait! I'm sorry, come back!
Moments later Luke, Willow, and Gus running through the forest with the human holding onto Eda's staff as they chase after Owlbert.
Luke: Owlbert!
Owlbert hoots flies into a foreboding cave, disappearing from sight. The trio stop running, panting.
Gus: Man, humans can run. Must be their dorsal fins.
Luke: He went through those trees. Come on.
Willow: Willow grabs his wrist. We have to be careful. It's really easy to get lost in this part of the forest.
Luke: This is Eda's palisman, Willow. If we don't get Owlbert back she's going to kill me! Let's go!
The trio are now walking through some sort of cave covered by trees, bones crunch under their feet.
Willow: Wow. I keep stepping on a lot of crunchy twigs.
Luke: Those are bones, Willow.
Willow: Willow looks up. Not if I never look down.
A shadow swiftly passes them. They yelp, and step closer together. Luke pokes a spiderweb with the staff.
Luke: This is definitely not like any forest I've ever seen.
Willow: That's because this isn't a forest.
Luke, Willow and Gus look down to see three babies familiar to Luke approach them, the Bat Queen's babies.
Willow: It's a nest!
Luke: Hey, I remember these little guys. They're Bat Queen's babies.
The bat babies screech and Willow and Gus step back in fear.
Gus: Wait. The Bat Queen?
Willow: I think I'd rather take my chances with Eda.
Luke: Not me. Luke walks up. Can you three help us? We're looking for a little owl and... Luke spots Owlbert standing a bit behind the bat babies. There he is!
Owlbert quickly steps back into the shadows.
Luke: Owlbert, you're okay. Sorry about before little guy. Come on pal, let's go home.
To their great horror the Bat Queen herself stomps up in front of Owlbert, walking towards the trio. They all gasp as the beastly woman head gives Luke a displeased look.
Bat Queen: Hello, small human.
Luke: Luke gulps in fear. MAJOR momma bear alert.
(Timeskip)
Meanwhile, King is using Eda's Owl Beast form to scare away all the little kids at the Slayground, especially the Usurper child, allowing him to take back his "throne". But to his dismay and annoyance Eda isn't listening to him anymore and is just biting a slide when he said no.
Back at the Bat Queen's nest, queen herself exhales in anger. Willow and Gus are in fear behind Luke.
Willow: It's the...
Luke: Bat Queen. I know. We kinda babysat her kids once. Don't worry. I got this. He speaks to BQ casually. Yo, BQ. Your hair is looking slick! You apply grease to it recently? And your kids are as hideously healthy as ever.
Willow and Gus were thinking the same thing…they're doomed.
Gus: You know, that coulda gone worse.
The Bat Queen growls, unamused with Luke's poor attempt at flattery. Luke can see he made a poor choice of words.
Bat Queen: I suggest you leave now human! The likes of you are forbidden in this land! You who are powerless, weak and pathetic are not worthy to set foot here!
Luke: Okay, that is just super offensive lady. Plus, I'm not here by choice. Long story short, Owlbert ran away, totally my fault for accidentally hurting and yelling at him. But I've come to take him back and make things right. I'm just gonna grab him and we'll be on our way.
But just as he reaches out for Owlbert, Bat Queen puts a claw on Luke's chest.
Bat Queen: To be careless with a staff, it's very serious. I protect him.
Luke: And thank you for that, but…he belongs with Eda the Owl Lady. He gently removes Bat Queen's claw. And you owe her a favour, remember?
Bat Queen: Owl Lady is careless. Her staff left her sight. Taken by human who steals, hurts, frightens!
Luke: WHAT!? How the hell did you-!?
Bat Queen: HE TOLD ME ALL!
Bat Queen's eyes glow yellow and in response so does Owlbert's.
Luke: Owlbert, I'm sorry! I never meant to hurt you. You gotta believe me!
Owlbert expresses his discomfort by perching on Bat Queen's head and both their eyes glowing yellow, signifying their connection.
Bat Queen: Trust must be earned... She flies onto a large perch on the ground surrounded by gold and treasure with her babies. THROUGH TRIALS!
Fiery pillars bursts from the ground with the final words, signifying the sheer intensity behind her protectiveness and trials.
Gus: Trials?
Willow: Luke, the Bat Queen is well-known for her impossible trials. I've never heard of anyone winning against her.
Luke: But I have to get Owlbert back. This was fault, my mistake so I need to fix it and regain his trust. He looks back to Bat Queen. I accept your challenge.
Willow: And we'll be right there with you.
Gus: Let the flags raise you up.
Luke: I appreciate the support amigos, but this is something I have to do alone.
Bat Queen closes her claw and webs encase Willow and Gus, immobilising them.
Gus: Hey!
Willow: What?
Bat Queen: The human is right, no helpsies. Now, let the trials begin! The flames become more intense. Milk the spider demon.
A spider with udders approaches Luke, holding a bucket. The spider demon growls and Luke is seriously weirded out by the sight of it. He knows he should be used to this sort of stuff by now, but it still freaks him. One look at Owlbert reminds him why he's doing this, and he steels his nerves, preparing to milk the spider.
Luke: Alright, pal. Let's do this!
The spider demon runs, squealing and Luke chases after it.
Luke: Hey, get back here! If you run, you'll just make this harder for yourself!
Luke summons his Glyph Guns and fires a rapid bullet barrage at the spider.
After successfully milking the Spider Demon the 1st flame gets extinguished.
Bat Queen: Remove bee's nest.
Luke climbs a tree, empty staff in hand. A giant buzzing bees' nest is sitting in one of the branches. He raises the staff to smack the nest, but it turns into a giant bee that screeches at him. He yelps and falls out of the tree. Luke runs past Willow and Gus, screaming as the Bee chases after him.
Gus is trying to use his flags to cut through the webs.
Gus: Come on. Almost got it. Eventually Gus succeeds in freeing himself. I am free! Bat Queen, you will rue the day you tried to trap—!
Bat Queen traps him in webbing again, this time suspending him in mid-air like a cocoon. Luke quickly drops on his back to dodge a bee sting and summons his Glyph Guns, firing light orbs at the bee, blinding it. He follows up with shots of electricity that continuously electrocute the bee until it flies away in fear.
After getting rid of the bee, the 2nd flame goes out.
Bat Queen: Give babies a bath!
Luke is in the hellish process of bathing the bat babies. Luke scrubs one baby bat, sitting on another, a third biting her shoulder. It was like a war between Luke and the babies as he struggles to keep them together. They're all covered in suds and the babies constant screeching gives Luke a headache.
Willow: Go, Luke!
Gus: Luke, we're here if you need us.
Willow: Yeah. Cut us free. We can get Eda.
Luke: No, I was selfish, and I hurt Owlbert. I need to do this alone, so he knows I care about him. He dumps the barrel of water over the baby bats, causing them to screech until they turn around to show their hair neat and faces shiny.
Luke: And done.
But the bat babies shake their heads; return to normal and screech violently.
Luke: OH, COME ON!
(Timeskip)
Things get bad for King. Eda's disobedience and eating everything in sight causes him to kick her in anger and that provokes Beast Eda into attacking him. Realizing that this little plan for power was a huge mistake King tosses the Elixir into Eda's mouth but to his great horror nothing happened, Eda is still the Owl Beast and proceeds to rip King apart. Even worse is when the Demon Hunters get word of the Owl Beast in the Slayground and easily captures her, locking her up and preparing to sell her. King is horrified to see that his actions may just lead Eda to her untimely death.
Back at the Bat Queen's next the third flame goes out after Luke successfully finished giving the babies their bath. Gus frees himself from the web again, landing in a handstand.
Gus: Yes, I am free again. I-
Webs encase him yet again and since he was in handstand his face is trapped this time, muffling his screams. Luke is stood before the Bat Queen, staff in hand.
Luke: Okay, Bat Queen. That's the last one. I've done all your chores. And I've proved my dedication to Owlbert. Bat Queen silently narrows her eyes as Luke approaches Owlbert who's perched right next to the Queen now. Owlbert, I'm sorry for the pain I caused you. I promise to never borrow you without permission again. And I'll be more careful. So, will you please come back home with me?
Touched by how much Luke was willing to put up with in order to regain his trust Owlbert nods, accepting his apology. He flies off of Bat Queen's perch to the ground to join Luke but in a shocking twist Bat Queen encases him in webbing and he squawks in protest.
Luke: Owlbert! Luke glares at Bat Queen. WHAT THE HELL, LADY!? I COMPLETED YOUR TRIALS! YOU SAID YOU'D LET HIM GO IF I DID!
Bat Queen: No! More trails! Last trial! You must face...ME!
She expands her wings, a jet of flames going up behind her, more intense than the other flaming pillar.
Luke: What?!
The Bat Queen roars and lunges at Luke, prompting him to make a run for it. The Bat Queen lands, and Luke jumps out of the way.
Bat Queen: You will never get him back!
Luke lands on his back and when he stood up his face becomes red. In a fit of rage, he screams at the ceiling before yelling at Bat Queen.
Luke: I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU, YOU SNOOTY DESPOT! I PASSED YOUR TRIALS! I MILKED A SPIDER DEMON! I GOT RID OF YOUR BEE PROBLEM! I GAVE YOUR BABIES A BATH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I DID EVERYTHING YOU WANTED AND REGAINED OWLBERT'S TRUST! AND NOW YOU'RE GOING BACK ON YOUR WORD! THAT'S NOT GONNA FLY QUEENY! YOU WANT A FIGHT, THEN YOU'VE GOT ONE!
Luke sheathes the staff in his back and brought out Rebellion, extending the blade with a swing. With a battle cry he charges the Bat Queen and slashes her, prompting her to fly back up. She drops down roaring and lunging at Luke with her claws, but Luke quickly holds up his sword to block, struggling to hold back against the queen's larger size. He pushes off and rolls out of the way before leaping and slicing the Bat Queen again. She blocks with one of her wings and Luke flips behind her.
He quickly activates the Light-Glyph embedded in the sword and it lengthens while becoming coated in light. The Bat Queen turns as Luke sends out a beam of light that she barely avoids. He charges again and delivers a stronger slash attack. The Bat Queen blocks with both wings but Luke's strengthened sword was strong enough to make her flinch and send her stumbling back.
The human boy switches his sword out for his dual Glyph Guns. He activates the Electric & Light Glyph for each gun again, firing a barrage of electric and light bullets that strike the Bat Queen, making her flinch and cry out in pain from electrocution. One of the bullets explode in her eyes, blinding her and making her cry out in pain. She turns around rubbing her eyes in pain.
Willow: Luke, get us out! We can help! Luke frees Willow and she frees Gus who gets back on his feet. Look out!
The bat babies screech, preparing to attack the three of them.
Gus: I'll hold'em off with my flags. Gus brings out his flags only for the babies to attack Willow and Gus. No! That was a bad plan!
The Bat Queen roars in anger, regaining her eyesight and she lunges at Luke again, prompting him to run off. She chases Luke through the forest, sword in one and gun in the other. He fires bullets as he ran, barely affecting the Bat Queen. He goes through a couple trees that the Bat Queen tears into.
Owlbert struggles to free himself from the Bat Queen's webbing, eventually freeing one of his wings.
Luke continues running through the forest as the Bat Queen roars and continues attacking. He dismisses his gun and his sword charges with electricity, the Electric Glyph glowing on it.
Luke: I won't let you imprison Owlbert!
Luke swings his sword a blade of electricity is sent out at the Bat Queen who flew up to evade drops down to attack Luke. He stops her claws with the sword but gets pinned down on his back. He struggles against the Bat Queen's large claws and as he does, he spots something that shocks him, underneath the Bat Queen's foot was an interlock hole.
Luke: Is that an interlock?
He kicks the Bat Queen away, then kicks himself back up. Luke held his sword up, summoning a bolt of lightning the engulfs the blade before leaping to smash Rebellion against the ground and send a rupture of electricity through it. Electricity erupts beneath Bat Queen, engulfing her and causing to cry out in agony from the electrocution. When it ends, she drops to her knees, groaning in pain and defeat.
With Bat Queen tame, Luke stood straight, retracts his blade and gives her a serious look.
Luke: Bat Queen, you used to be on a staff, didn't you? You were a Palisman!
As she got up, the Bat Queen gasps in dismay to see that her secret has been discovered. The winds blow around them both ominously, representing the cold silence between them.
(Timeskip)
King is in a very dire situation. Eda's been captured by demon hunters because of his actions and now he must save her. Deciding to give up his "throne" to the Usurper, King chases after the vehicle imprisoning Eda and slips inside, trying to reach out to her with words. When that doesn't work, he does his rage squeal which put Eda into hysterical laughter even in her Owl Beast form. That combined with the elixir was enough to bring her back to normal and the two escape from the Demon Hunters.
Back in the forest, Luke and Bat Queen were stood away from each other, the former staring down the giant demon recently revealed to have been a Palisman.
Luke: You were once a Palisman, weren't you?
Bat Queen looks at her claw with the interlock on it. She turns away from Luke, crestfallen as she prepares to tell the truth now that her secret has been discovered.
Bat Queen: Yes, I was once part of a grand staff. A staff made for a giant. But I was broken, discarded.
Luke: So, that's why you're so protective of Owlbert.
Bat Queen: Her eyes glow again. I protect ALL!
Multiple eyes glowed in the darkness of Bat Queen's nest, revealing hundreds of animal shaped Palismans with their interlocks revealed and their wounds displayed. Cracks, limbs lost, large scratches marks, chips from their bodies as birds, insects, mammals and amphibian type palismen filled Luz's sight.
Bat Queen: I made home in forest. I'm here to take the lost. The forgotten.
Luke: I understand, I get it. But Owlbert isn't forgotten. Eda loves him and so do I. He already has a home waiting for him.
This does not sway Bat Queen as she turns and walks away.
Bat Queen: He will not go back with you.
Luke: That's not your decision to make!
Bat Queen: I won't let him!
Luke's blade reappears from the handle and he prepares to fight again but to his surprise Owlbert flew in between them and stood with his wings spread, protecting Luke. Bat Queen halt's her attack as she stares at Owlbert in astonishment. His eyes glow and later so does hers.
Bat Queen: You... The winds howl. You care for him.
Owlbert nods to her Queen and hoots. He walks over to Luke who picks him up. Owlbert nuzzles him in the cheek which he accepts.
Luke: Thanks buddy.
Seeing this touching display was enough to finally convince the Bat Queen.
Bat Queen: Very well. Go. And take your friends.
Willow and Gus, still being attacked by the bat babies, run to Luke. The Bat Queen whistles and her babies fly to her, leaving Gus covered in spit.
Gus: I don't think I'll ever be clean again.
Owlbert grabs Eda's staff and brings it to Luke. Gus wipes the bat babies' spit off of him with Willow's help. They all look to Bat Queen.
Luke: Bat Queen, do you know what happened to your owner?
Bat Queen: It has been thousands of years. I've forgotten.
Luke: If you ever want to search for the truth, I'll help you.
Bat Queen: Thank you, strong human boy.
Bat Queen was about leave but then looks back to Luke. Like with Eda and Lilith, for a brief moment she sees in his place a boy that looks like him but with Demon Realm clothes and blue hair.
Bat Queen: You…you are not an ordinary human, are you child?
Luke: The trio exchange confused looks. What do you mean?
Bat Queen: I sense something about you, child. Something familiar. And at the same time something…unique. You remind me of someone I knew over a decade ago. He was a spirited young man like you. I have a feeling we'll meet again soon. She smiles. Until then, I look forward to hearing of your exploits during your time here.
And with that the Bat Queen flies away, leaving the trio and Owlbert to process everything that just happened. Luke fought the Bat Queen and won.
Willow: I can't believe you took on the Bat Queen! And won!
She tackles Luke for a hug which he accepts and Gus dances with his flags.
Gus: I can't believe we're not dead!
Luke: Thanks for helping me get Owlbert back. Sorry we missed the game amigos.
Gus: Are you kidding? That was better than any grudgby match. There were action-packed trials. I got to do my flag wave, and I'm slightly traumatized. Hooray!
Luke: Luke chuckles. Come on, let's get this little dude home.
After a more controlled flight to the Owl House and waving goodbye to Gus and Willow goodbye, Luke is on the couch placing a bandage on Owlbert's crack.
Luke: There we go Owlbert, you should be good as new in a couple days.
Owlbert hoots in appreciation but that's cut off when Luke hears and see Eda come in, both looking exhausted.
Eda: Owlbert, why are you off the staff?
Owlbert hoots and flies over to Eda, telling her a story.
Eda: Luke took you to get ice cream? Aw, that's...a horrible lie.
Owlbert gives Luke a look, saying "I tried". Luke chuckles nervously.
Eda: Well, lucky for you both I don't care right now. I'm going to take a nap.
And with that Eda leaves for her room.
King: I'll…uh…be at the playground.
King walks off to take his "throne" back. Owlbert flies back to Luke's shoulder.
Luke: Let's just keep today's mishap our little secret, 'kay little dude.
Owlbert warbles, nuzzling Luke's cheek again.
Eda is in her room not feeling well. She coughs up the empty bottle she swallowed with the Elixir, looking at her reflection in fear. Even after King gave her the elixir it didn't turn her back to normal straight away. A bad omen that could only mean one thing, her curse is getting worse, and it'll take more elixir to manage it now.
Eda: The elixir... It isn't working on the curse anymore. This is bad! She then vomits out part of the swing she ate. When did I swallow a swing?
And as for the Bat Queen she puts her babies to sleep, tired from her encounter with Luke. Today was full of mishaps but Luke was able to bond with Owlbert and understand how much a palisman means to a witch as well as the fact they're living beings like them, not tools. As for Eda she'll needs to be more careful than ever with her curse. If it keeps getting worse, she may be the Owl Beast forever.
Luke's just been given the experience of what it's like to bond with a palismen. Wonder what it'll be like when he gets his own palismen. (A/N: You guys are in for a surprise to see how I handle Luke's palismen).
Up next, while Eda races with against Lilith for the Bloom of Eternal Youth, Luke and King enter a writing contest. But King's lack of team spirit and thirst for fame has created an argument between him and Luke, resulting in them being put in a tight situation (pun intended). Can they make up in time to get out of this?
