Owl House Season 1 Episode 18 – The Golden Guard
This is it! The debut of Belos' right-hand man, the Golden Guard. The boy who will become Luke's arch-rival.

In the centre of the Boiling was a square out surrounded by large white teeth or rib bones with a plus shaped piece of land right in the middle. In the centre is a combination of a castle and citadel of buildings with some sort of gold platform to its front. This is the castle of Emperor Belos, the ruler of the Boiling Isles.
Wild witches were being held in cages and dragged towards the emperor's castle, likely getting ready to be punished. A bunch of Coven Scouts are escorting them and have surrounded the entire building.
Inside a dark room, flames become alit, slowly lighting it up. Knelt down on the carpet was a coven scout, different from all the others. He's wearing a white hooded cloak with a golden triangle clasp like other members of the Emperor's Coven. Under the cloak is a gold tunic with darker sleeves, black leggings, and wears brown gloves and knee-high boots. He wears a golden pauldron on his left shoulder and a pointed two-faceted mask with a thin slot across it.
A shadow of a powerful figure can be seen looming above him, the head vaguely looking like a reindeer. It's obvious this particular Coven Scout is knelt down in front of Emperor Belos.
Belos: For 50 years I have been working to ensure the perfection of the Coven System and keeping wild magic under control. Yet…in all my years, only one wild witch keeps eluding me, the Owl Lady. But she is not my true concern. I've heard rumours of her student, the boy who hails from the Human Realm and his power. It intrigues me and I wish to learn more about him. And I think the best way to do that is through a test. I have an assignment for you…nephew. I trust you can complete it.
Gold Scout: Yes, Lord Belos.
Owl House Intro Music
As the portal gate opens and the camera zooms in on it. Luke opens his eyes to see his falling down, causing him to freak out before something zoomed past and caught him. Luke saw he was saved by Eda along with King, who smirked at the human boy as they flew to her house on her Palisman staff with Luke raising his fist in excitement.
The door where Hooty was opened as Luke steps outside now wearing goggles, twirling his Rebellion sword and struck a pose, aiming his Glyph Gun at the screen. Eda came out with her staff, sharing a grin with Luke. King popped up in front of them in a pose.
A Boiling Isle mural appears, three windows flipping to briefly reveal Gus, Willow, and Amity striking their own poses before burning away to show King commanding an army of stuffed toys, which all fall on him.
Luke rode on Eda's staff like a surfboard, zooming past Bonesborough, flying past Tinella Nosa, sharing a high-five with Gus, Willow being beside him with a plan releasing vines and evading guards that chase him down. Eda and King join in on the fun and they have blast taking to the skies…until they hang on for dear life as a massive monstrous worm-like monster, mouth wide open, lunges at them as they scream in horror.
Then the scene changes back to the Owl House, where it's night-time, and stars twinkle in the sky as the trio are on the roof and looking up into the sky, Eda holding her staff beside her, Luke holding Rebellion downward and King riding his shoulder. Luke opens a hand, sending a ball of light floating into the sky where it bursts to release a blinding flash.

Meanwhile, Luke, Willow and Gus are walking through the streets after finishing another day Hexside, excited with how well their day went today, especially Luke and Willow, the two having won 5 straight victories in their witches duel.
Luke: Woo-hoo! Hell yeah! 5 straight wins in a row. We are on fire today!
Willow: Willow laughs. You better believe it, baby!
Luke and Willow share a high-fives.
Gus: Those were your best records yet! You guys are on a roll.
Willow: Ever since we beat Boscha in Grudgby I've been feeling better than ever!
Luke: And I've been on a real roll since enrolling at Hexside!
Gus: Boy, I'll say! You haven't lost a single witches duel ever since you came here! And you're a human! No offense.
Luke: None taken Gustonimo. But yeah, I've never lost a single fight! Luke brings out Rebellion. I'm totally unstoppable with this baby! There's nothing this place can throw at me that I can't handle!
Gus and Willow smile in admiration at Luke's enthusiasm until they hear a commotion. They look to see a bunch of citizens gathered in front of a store.
Willow: Hey, what's with the commotion?
The trio ran up to the citizens, pushing their way to the front to see they're gathered in front a window displaying crystal balls. In those balls is an afro man who looks similar to Gus, wearing glasses. He speaks through a microphone.
Perry: This is Perry Porter with today's breaking news.
Gus: Hey, that's my dad!
Luke: You're dad!?
Willow: Gus' dad is a newsman. He provides all the news given out through the crystal balls to the Boiling Isles.
Perry: Tonight, another Covention will be held, this time featuring an appearance from our beloved Emperor Belos!
Everyone gasps in shock, even Luke is surprise.
Demon 1: The emperor's making an appearance!
Demon 2: We rarely get to see him!
Perry: And furthermore, the Emperor's Coven will host an event showcasing the emperor's right-hand man: The Golden Guard!
The crystal balls now display the Golden Scout, now known as the Golden Guard, adding to everyone's surprise.
Gus: No way!
Willow: Emperor Belos!? The Golden Guard!?
Perry: Entry to the Covention is free so all citizens are welcome to come! This is Perry Porter, signing out.
Perry's image is replaced with that of the Golden Guard again and crowd disperse, conversing in excitement. Willow and Gus clutch hands together, bursting with energy much to Luke's confusion.
Willow: This is so exciting!
Gus: We're gonna see Emperor Belos and the Golden Guard!
Luke: Okay, I know who Belos is, but who the hell is the Golden Guard? Eda never told me about him.
Willow: The Golden Guard is the emperor's right-hand man, his second-in-command.
Gus: He's one of the most powerful and respected witches all around the Boiling Isles, second to Belos himself. Half the cells in the Conformatorium are full because of him.
Willow: They look to his image again. I wonder what he looks like behind that mask?
Luke: I'm guessing ugly.
Willow and Gus widen their eyes as Luke laughs only for both of them to cover his mouth, shutting him up.
Willow: Luke, I know you and Eda aren't fans of the Emperor's Coven but you've gotta be careful what you say about the Emperor or high-ranking coven officials.
Gus: Yeah! Almost everyone in Bonesborough loves them for bringing peace to the isles. Trust me, you don't want to get on their bad side. You know what I mean?
Luke nods, acknowledging their words as he knows badmouthing the emperor or his subordinates in public might paint a bigger target on Eda's back. His friends release his mouth.
Gus: Anyway, we've so gotta go to the Covention, tonight!
Willow: I'm gonna message Amity! Luke, are you gonna come too!?
Luke: Maybe. I'll ask Eda and see what she thinks. He walks off, waving to his friends. See you around amigos.
Gus & Willow: See ya, Luke!
At the Owl House, Luke kicks open the door.
Luke: Heyo! Luke the Human in the Owl House!
King jumps next to Luke excitedly.
King: You're back! King crawls up Luke and stops on his head. I mean, not that I care. It's not like I missed you anything. I didn't miss you one bit.
Luke: Luke grins, patting King's skull. Uh-huh. Whatever you say little buddy.
Eda is sat down, scrolling through her Penstagram while wearing a straw hat, looking to Luke.
Eda: Hey, kid, how was school!
Luke walks over, tossing his backpack.
Luke: Awesome, teach! I had an amazing day! I aced some quizzes and was chosen for 5 witches duel. I won every one of them!
Eda: 5 straight wins a row!? Dang, kid! You're really coming along! I'm impressed!
King: Forget Grom King! You're like the King of Hexside now!
Luke: I know, right!? I've dominated every fight ever since I came to this world, from Wrath all the way to now! At this rate, I'll be the ultimate witch-warrior in no time! Eda recoils in surprise when Luke grabs the arm rest, leaning close to her face. Ooh! When do I get my witch's staff!?
Eda: Whoa, whoa, kid, dial it back a little. Eda gently pushes Luke back. We're not quite there yet.
Luke: What do you mean? I'm a fearless fighting machine! I'm unbeatable!
Eda: Fearless fighting machine, you are but unbeatable…eh…not so much. I used to think of myself as unbeatable when I was your age until a special new student ended my winning streak. Luke and King widen their eyes, surprised by that. Now kid, believe me, I love your enthusiasm and I'm proud to see how far you've come along with your spells and the Rebellion. But as much as I admire your confidence, overconfidence can be dangerous.
Luke: Says, the most overconfident lady in the Boiling Isles.
Eda: Eda narrows her eyes at that. Hey, I'm not that arrogant. The point is, while you're making good progress, you've still got a long way to go. Trust me. I know.
Luke is a little annoyed but out of respect for his teacher he decides to stop his bragging for now.
Luke: If you say so, teach…
King: Don't worry, Luke. I think you're totally unbeatable.
Luke: Luke smiles gratefully at King. Thanks, little buddy. By the way, E, did you hear about the Covention that's happening tonight.
Eda: Eda becomes bemused. How could I not. It's all over the news and on Pensta.
Eda presents her account filled with texts and pictures showing other users' excitement over the Covention. Luke gives a knowing grin.
Luke: Let me guess, you're not going because they "suck your independence", right?
Eda: Actually, I am going.
This was so shocking, Hooty pops up next to Luke, gasping with King, all of them with their eyes and mouth widened in disbelief. Eda…actually wants to go to the Covention.
Luke: Teacher say what?
Hooty: That's not Eda! That's an imposter!
King: Get her!
Eda: Wait, what?
Luke, King and Hooty all lunge at Eda, causing her to scream as they tackle her to the floor. She cries out in pain as Luke pins her, Hooty whacks her with his body and King pulls her hair.
Eda: OW! OW! OWWWW! STOP IT!
With all her strength she yanks Luke and King off, got up and stomps on Hooty, pinning him and holding up the human boy and little demon, her annoyed face covered in dirt.
Eda: I'm the real Eda you morons!
Luke: Prove it.
Eda releases the three of them and she twists her head around, popping it off much to King and Luke's disturbance.
Luke: Okay, you've convinced me.
King: But Eda, why would you wanna go to a Covention?
Hooty: Yeah. I thought you hated those.
Eda: I do. But the emperor's going to make an appearance and I wanna be there to see if he gives away anything about whatever plans he has. Plus, I wanna see what this lapdog of his is all about.
Luke: You mean the Golden Guard? What's so special about him, other than being Belos' right-hand man.
Eda: Eda looks down with a frown. It's…complicated kid.
Luke: History with the guy?
Eda: Not exactly. But I need to be there, regardless.
Luke: Then, is it alright if King and I go with you. I wanna see what Belos and this Golden Guard guy are all about.
Eda: Sure, why not. Eda bends down with a grin. I could use the extra hand to help me with some pickpocketing.
King: Yay! Pickpocket!
Luke: Yes! I'll tell Willow and Gus! He held up his finger. We leave tonight!
Hooty appears, leaning against Eda's face.
Hooty: Can I come too!?
Luke, King & Eda: NO!
Later at night, a bunch of witches and demons are heading inside the Covention, murmuring in excitement over the events about to happen. Luke and Eda are among those people, both disguised, the former having his hood up, his goggles put away and wearing sunglasses and the latter wearing a cowl again. And King rides Luke's shoulder.
Luke: Man, there's twice as many people coming here than the last time we were here!
Eda: That's because Belos is making and his lapdog is making an appearance this time.
King: And he has like thousands of supporters around the Boiling Isles.
Willow: Luke!
The trio look to see Willow, Gus and Amity stood together, all in their casual clothes. Waving at them.
Gus: Hey, Luke!
Luke: Yo, amigos!
Luke ran over and Willow and Gus each took his hands.
Willow: You came!
Luke: Yup. Eda walks over and Luke thumbs over. Turns out, Eda actually wanted to come here. What are the odds?
Eda: I wanna see what this lapdog of Belos is all about.
Amity: Amity ran over. Hey, Luke!
Luke: Luke lets go of his friends and walks over to Amity. Hey, hey, Ams! Look at you up and about. How's the leg treating you?
Amity: Amity happily skips, presenting her healed leg. It's all better now. Thanks for all those secret visits you made to my room… She brings out a blue get-well cards Luke made that makes her blush. And for the get-well-soon cards. It was really sweet.
Luke: Luke gives a dismissive hand wave. Don't mention it, Ams.
Eda & King: Ooooh!
Luke and Amity comically tense up, widening their eyes and blushing, seeing where this was going.
Eda: You dog, secretly paying your girlfriend a visit while she was recovering. Meow.
Luke & Amity: She's/I'm not my/his girlfriend!
King laughs. Amity clears her throat, changing the subject and looking to Willow and Gus.
Amity: Anyway, I was so excited to hear the news! I can't believe the emperor is making an appearance today!
Willow: I know! Isn't it amazing!
Amity and Willow squeal, causing King to cover his ears and Eda to groan.
King: Girls squeal too loud!
Eda: Ugh. Enough fangirling. She walks ahead. Let's just get this mess over with.
Scenes shift to the arena, the seats are all filled, some with overcrowding due to the amount of people present for this special occasion. Luke and the gang were sat at the back, Eda still had her cowl up and Luke had his hood removed, goggles back on his head. The citizens were all erupting with cheers, some waving flags and merchandises of their emperor.
Luke: Yeesh, these guys are going all out, aren't they.
Eda: I'm not surprised kid. Belos rarely shows himself to the public.
On the podium in a flash of navy-blue lightning appeared a robed figure with the emblem of the Weaponry Coven.
Abomination goo converges next to them, forming into another figure with the emblem of the Abomination Coven.
A third figure reveals himself out of nowhere, having hidden behind an illusion and he wears the emblem of the Illusionist Coven.
Vines erupt from beneath, opening up to reveal a fourth figure walking down and showing she has the emblem of the Plant Coven.
Everyone but Luke, King and Eda give an applause.
Luke: Who are those guys?
Eda: 4 of the 10 main coven heads. A few of them actually used to be old friends of mine 'till we went our separate ways.
King: I'm surprised your sister hasn't made an appearance.
Everyone looks up to see a blue raven emerge from the skies. It flew down, landing in front of the coven heads and spreads its wings, releasing energy. It dissipates to reveal Lilith on stage in her robe and removing her mask, presenting herself to everyone.
While the audience give an uproar at the sight of their favourite Coven Head, Luke and gang don't applaud, remembering what happened in the Covention during Luke and Amity's duel. Eda merely narrows her eyes at the sight of her sister.
Luke: You were saying?
King: I stand corrected.
Amity looks away with conflict and sadness, remembering what Lilith did to her in the Covention last time, the humiliation she suffered because of her mentor.
Lilith walks over to the mic.
Lilith: Thank you, citizens of Bonesborough for attending this Covention. Today is a very special and joyous occasion. Not only am I accompanied by some of my fellow coven heads… The people cheer as the Coven heads give small waves. But, Emperor Belos himself is making a special appearance.
The moment Lilith finishes her announcement, blue swirls form a tornado at the back of the podium. Everyone gasps in awe and amazement as the tornado forms into a connection of a huge and powerful figure…Emperor Belos, presenting himself to the audience.
The emperor wears a golden mask with two long upward-facing horns. His eyes are hollow through the mask, creating the appearance of having empty eye sockets. He wears a large white and brown cape with gold trim. He holds a mechanical staff in his hand. This one is not like other staff, in the place of a Palismen was a large red orb connected to a red wire and large, sharp wing. He raises his staff and the orb glows red.
Belos: Greetings, children of the Isles!
The citizens' shock turn into the loudest eruption of cheers ever, people waving their flags, some crying out tears of joy and other chanting Belos' name. Luke and the gang look up in amazement, Eda is merely in contempt as she crosses her arms with her student.
Gus: It's Emperor Belos!
Willow: Ohmygosh!
Amity: I can't believe we're seeing him!
Luke: So, that's him. That's Belos.
King: Yup. The emperor of the Boiling Isles.
Eda: The man who's been trying to capture me for years.
Luke: Hey, teach, what's up with that staff? It doesn't have a palismen on it.
Eda: That staff contains artificial magic. The emperor wields a form of magic even I've never seen before. It may not have a palismen but it's very powerful.
Luke gives Belos a deep stare. This is the ruler of the Boiling Isles he's been hearing about. The sight of this man is giving Luke a strangely familiar feeling. One he can't quite put his finger on.
Belos: Thank you, everyone for attending this special event. It heartens me to have all of you here. 50 years I've been your emperor, doing everything in my power to ensure the purification of magic just as the titan intended.
Eda: Pfft. Eda whispers to Luke. He always says that. He claims he has the ability to hear and speak to the Titan. The same one that makes the Boiling Isles.
Luke: Seriously? And everyone buys that?
King: Unfortunately.
Belos: Know that as harsh as my methods may be, I am no ruler. I am a simple messenger here to serve you, children of the Isles and enforce the will of Titan himself. And it warms my heart to know I have your support. Even as we speak, we are working to perfect the coven system, for the Day of Unity is soon to be upon us.
The audience cheer with joy, Eda and King give grim looks and Luke, Amity, Willow and Gus share confused looks.
Luke: Day of Unity?
Belos: Yes, that is right my friends. The time to finish the purification of magic is drawing near and I have all of you to thank for your support and helping me get this far in my mission for the Titan by joining a coven. The culmination of all your hard work will soon result in a new era of peace for the Isles. So, I urge to those who have not, join a coven and if you're lucky enough you may join my coven, be more, avoid the path of destruction led by wild magic. Eda growls at that. The Emperor's Coven awaits you!
The audience erupts with more cheers, chanting Belos' name and voicing their love for him. The gang are merely in awe except for Luke, Eda and King.
Luke: This guy sure knows how to win over a crowd. These guys are worshipping him like he's some kind of god.
Eda: Tell me about it.
Belos: Unfortunately, I cannot stick around much longer. I have duties to perform. He gestures to Lilith stood in front of the mic. So, I will now hand things over to Lilith who will introduce to you all my right-hand man and most loyal follower. Until then, I bid you farewell for now, Children of the Isles!
And with that, the projection of Belos explodes into fireworks, causing more immense cheering from the audience. Lilith taps the mic and speaks.
Lilith: I hope you enjoyed that citizens. Now, as the emperor just told us, he wishes to introduce and showcase to you all… Lilith grumbles and growls underneath her breath. The genius teen prodigy, the Golden Guard!
Lilith gestures to arena, an earthquake occurring and surprising everyone.
Luke: What the hell!?
Erupting from the ground is a massive stone fist coated in red aura that smashes into the ground, dissipating to reveal the Golden Guard knelt down. He held a mechanical staff like Belos. The main difference is it's shorter, the wing is smaller and the gem at the top is more pointed.
The Golden Guard ominously lifts his head, revealing himself to the people who all stare at him in awe. That soon turns into an explosion of cheers.
Willow: It's him!
Gus: It's the Golden Guard!
He slowly stood, holding his staff up and the gem flares with electrifying red energy that he releases in the form of a massive blast up the arena. The blast forms into a cardinal bird which explodes into fireworks that make the people cheer louder.
Lilith gives an unimpressed scoff while some of the hooded coven heads nod.
Luke is a little impressed while Eda gives a blank frown.
Luke: So, that's the Golden Guard.
Eda: Yup. Belos' right-hand man in the flesh.
King: Hey guys, look! King points to the staff. His staff is like Belos'. No palismen.
Luke: Hey, you're right, King. That must be an artificial staff too then.
Eda: Definitely. Less cooler but likely just as powerful.
Amity: Amity whispers to Luke. To be honest, I don't really like the Golden Guard all that much.
Luke: Really? How come?
Amity: From what Lilith told me, this guy's an obnoxious jerk who loves taking advantage of his rank.
The Golden Guard silently waves to his audience and without anyone noticing, he spots Luke in the stand, giving him a stare. Only Luke realizes he's staring at him. Everything around them becomes black, the audience cheering becoming muted as Luke and the Golden Guard share a stare, like some kind of meeting that was destined to happen for some reason.
The gang notice Luke spaced out much to their concern.
King: Luke?
Amity: Luke, are you okay?
Eda: Eda shakes his shoulder. Hey, kid, are you alright?
Luke: Huh? What?
Willow: You…kind zoned out there for a bit.
Gus: Is everything okay?
Luke: Oh, sorry. It's weird, but…I think that guy was staring at me for some reason.
They look to the Golden Guard who continues waving to the people, his staff in hand.
Lilith: As you're aware, the Golden Guard is our strongest coven scout and emperor's right-hand man…unfortunately. The emperor wishes to inspire those of you who haven't joined a coven with a demonstration from our champion…which we will begin now.
Lilith looks to the Golden Guard who has his head slightly turned, giving a nod. He dismisses his staff and moves his cloak a little to reveal a long katana sheathed into a black scabbard attached to his tunic, catching Eda's eye which she narrows in anger.
Gus: Hey, that looks like a sword.
Luke: More like a katana.
Amity: A what?
Willow: What's a katana?
Luke: It's a type of sword they make in another country in my world.
Eda: The Yamato.
Everyone looks to Eda in surprise, her expression cold and angry.
Gang: The what?
Eda: The Yamato. That's the name of the sword.
King: That sword has a name?
Eda: It does. It may look like a simple blade but it's VERY powerful. Almost as powerful as the Rebellion.
Luke: As powerful as Rebellion? How do you know this Eda?
Eda: Because…that sword belonged to my friend, and I've seen it in action. The gang widen their eyes at this. And whoever this punk is, he has no right to hold it!
She clutches her seat hard which Luke notices, worrying for his teacher. This is the first time he's seeing his teacher look so personally enraged. He looks back to the Golden Guard and his sword in curiosity.
Luke: The Yamato…
Meanwhile, Lilith nods to the Coven Heads. The Abomination and Plant Coven Heads trace spell circles. Vines and abomination goo form around the Golden Guard until he's surrounded by dozens of plant monsters and abominations with scythe for arms. Despite being overwhelmingly outnumbered the scout remains silent, calm and unfazed. He merely clutches the Yamato.
Amity: Whoa…that's a lot of Abomination and plants.
Gus: The only one I know who can handle that many monsters are Luke and Eda.
Luke: Let's see how good this guy really is…
Eda: And if he really knows how to use that sword.
5 seats form for Lilith and the other coven heads to sit on which they do, watching the fight about to unfold with blank looks.
The monsters all approach the Golden Guard as he brought up Yamato, flicking the sword out its scabbard, revealing a glint of silver. One of the Abominations lunges behind but in an instant the Golden Guard disappears in a flash of red and the Abomination strikes the ground. A flash of red zooms past the abomination and a bunch of monsters all the way to the other side. To everyone's shock, it's revealed to be the Golden Guard, posed and with his katana slightly unsheathed.
King: What…just happened!?
The Golden Guard slowly sheathes Yamato back into his scabbard and the moment he does the Abomination that tried to attack him is sliced into pieces. Everything happened so fast it took a couple of seconds to settle in. The audience gasps in shock, before erupting with cheers for their champion. Luke and his friends are the only ones that are shocked with what they just witnessed.
Amity: How did he do that!?
Gus: Did anyone even see him move!?
Willow: I could barely see anything! He moved so fast it's like he disappeared!
King: How did he cut that Abomination without drawing his sword?
Eda: No, he did draw his sword.
Luke: But he so fast we couldn't see it. And that was more than just speed. It's like he teleported.
Eda: He did. What the Golden Guard just did was a flash-step. It's a short-range teleportation spell that allows him to disappear and move through the air at super speed. It's a rare spell. Even Lilith and I can't do it.
King: Must be a perk of artificial magic. What do you think, Luke?
Luke says nothing, watching the Golden Guard closely. Something about him and the Yamato has caught his interest, but he can't put his finger around it.
Devil May Cry 4 – The Time Has Come
After sheathing his sword, the Golden Guard stood still and found himself surrounded by 3 Abominations and 2 plant monsters, the other creatures were on standby as to avoid getting in each other's way. The plants send out tentacles and the abominations lunge with their scythes at the Golden Guard on all sides but he stood calmly, doing nothing until swung and spun around his sheathed sword, deflecting them all and knocking them off guard before slowly drawing the Yamato as they attack him again.
In an instant, The Golden Guard draws his katana (silver with yellow patterns and gold ornament), slicing an Abomination that dove down from above in half. He then proceeds to slice incoming tentacles, deflect slashes from 2 Abominations with his scabbard before unleashing a powerful horizontal swing around him. At first, nothing happens but then the 4 creatures are slow cut in half, their bodies separating as the Golden Guard spun his katana and sheathes his sword, just as they completely collapse.
The time has come, and so have I
I'll laugh last 'cause you came to die
The damage done, the pain subsides
And I can see the fear, clear, when I look in your eye.
More Abominations form around the Golden Guard, surrounding and attacking him. One attempts to slice but he dodges by leaning his head then knocks it away with his sheathed sword which he slightly unsheathes to deflect a slash from another one then sweeps it off its knees with his scabbard, drawing his sword to slice it in half. He launches 2 more slashes, slicing off an Abomination's arms before cutting it in half.
He spun, performing a leg sweep to knock another incoming Abomination off its feet and slices it in half, then slashes through another one across its side. He then trips up another one by smacking it with his sword's handle and with expert precision, he bisects 2 Abominations at once, striking a pose to finish his combo.
I'll never kneel and I'll never rest,
You can tear the heart from my chest
He turns his head, seeing more Abominations and plant monsters behind him, he wasn't finished just yet. He turns around just as the plants unleash a barrage of tentacles and Abominations unleash sludge to engulf him but he flash-steps, moving through the air at high-speed to slash one plant in half, then another.
I'll make you see what I do best,
I'll succeed as you breathe your very last breath.
Facing away from them he tosses his scabbard which pierces through a couple of Abominations and impaling one so hard it sends it flying across the arena, the scabbard impaling another plant in the process. As they fly, the Golden Guard performs more flash-steps, following his scabbard in a flash of red while slicing through more monsters at high-speed until he reaches near a wallow his scabbard's about to hit, slicing another plant and then tossing Yamato.
Now I know how the angel fell
I know the tale, and I know it too well
I'll make you wish you had a soul to sell,
When I strike you down and send you straight to Hell.
It flies around, slicing through a group of monsters with ease and returns to the Golden Guard for him to catch like a boomerang. Just as his scabbard with the Abomination and plant monster still impaled to it is about so slam against the wall, the Golden Guard drives Yamato back, slamming it back into its scabbard and brutally destroying the creatures he had impaled. Once again it all takes a couple seconds to sink in until the monsters all collapse, getting sliced to pieces.
My army comes from deep within
Beneath my soul, beneath my skin
The Golden Guard stood where he is, victorious and most likely a poker face under his mask. The entire audience want to cheer but they, including Owl House gang are struck speechless with this scout's flawless and fast display of swordsmanship. Even Luke is amazed, he's never met anyone else who could wield a sword like that. It's beyond phenomenal. Clearly, the Golden Guard is Belos's right-hand for a reason and he certainly lives up to his reputation.
As you are ending, I'm about to begin,
My strength is pain, and I will never give in.
The Golden Guard walks forth, then more Abominations were falling from the air to pile onto the him but with a flash-step he leapt high up, performing a horizontal spin with Yamato and slicing every creature with a battle cry, kicking one straight to the ground and cleaving it in half with one strike. After he lands he spun his katana and slowly sheathes back into its scabbard as he stood up, the Abominations falling and collapsing around him.
I'll tell you now, I'm the one to survive,
You'll never break my fate or my stride
It wasn't over yet. The two Coven Heads trace more spell circles, causing more abominations and plant monsters to appear in front of the Golden Guard, furiously approaching him as they prepare to cut him to pieces but he grabs his sword's hilt, getting into a stance and his scabbard gathers gold electricity.
Golden Guard: Die.
I'll have you choke on your own demise,
I make the angel scream, and the devil cry.
Three Abominations lunge at the Golden Guard only for him to slightly draw Yamato and to everyone's shock, an invisible force travels through the air, engulfing each abomination and stopping them midair where high-speed slashes could be heard. The creatures are cut into pieces, falling on the floor.
The remaining group of monsters all approach Belos' right hand but he was ready to deliver the final blow, drawing Yamato and charging all of them head on. When he gets close, he flash-steps, zooming at high-speed and slicing his way through every single monster, striking a pose in the centre of the arena. The moment the monsters all fall to pieces the Golden Guard held his scabbard vertically to his back.
Golden Guard: Jackpot.
Luke widens his eyes in shock at hearing his favourite catchphrase coming from some other guy's mouth. He stylishly sheathes Yamato back into his scabbard, reattaching it to his waist.

The Golden Guard stood alone in the arena, having eliminated every monster effortlessly. The audience stayed stunned in awe and amazement, until…they explode with cheers, chanting the Golden Guard's name.
Student 1: He's amazing!
Student 2: MARRY ME GOLDEN GUARD!
Student 3: I WANT HIS AUTOGRAPH!
Some of the coven heads nod, showing they're impressed while Lilith just crosses her arms with a scoff.
Lilith: Oh, please. I could've done that in half the time.
Luke, Eda, King, Amity, Willow and Gus had their jaws agape in amazement.
Gus: Wow…! Just wow…!
Amity: He's so fast!
Willow: He's amazing!
Luke: Did he just say "Jackpot!" That's MY catchphrase!
King: There were like hundreds of those things and he sliced every one of them in less than 2-minutes! He's like a one-man army! And he didn't even need to use his staff!
Eda: Not bad. He may not deserve it…but he sure knows how to use Yamato. I'm a little impressed. This guy certainly lives up to his reputation as Belos right-hand.
Luke: That last time I saw sword technique like that was from a samurai? Amity, Willow, Gus and King look to Luke. They're a type of warrior in my realm. They're speedy swordsman. But this Golden Guard guy is beyond that.
Willow: Yeah, I'll say. He's really strong.
Amity: I knew he was powerful from what I heard. But this is crazy, even for a demon.
Eda: "And his fighting style with that sword…it's similar to his too. Just who is this guy?"
King: He's as strong as you, Luke! Maybe even stronger!
Luke: Luke shakes his head, trying to shrug it off. Meh. He's not that bad and all but I'm not that impressed. I've faced worse than this guy. I bet I could beat him in less than a minute.
Luke's pride refuses to let him acknowledge that he actually is impressed. The Golden Guard's fighting prowess rivals his own. He doesn't want to admit but if the two ever faced off the human boy may have his work cut out for him.
Lilith: Lilith speaks through her mic. Thank you, Golden Guard, for that impressive display. And now that that's out of the way we can get on with the main event. The emperor wishes to give one of you the honour to face his right-hand in a witch's duel. The citizens murmur in surprise at this announcement. Your surprise is most understandable. The Golden Guard will randomly select one of you to be his opponent. This battle is mandatory, but you needn't worry, this won't be a battle to the death. It's merely for show.
Lilith nods to the Golden Guard and he nods back, facing straight ahead as the entire arena goes dark. The audience are sat tensely, wondering which of them will be chosen to battle Belos' right hand. The most tense is Luke and the gang who find all this to be a little suspicious. The Golden Guard stood still like a statue for what seemed like forever…until he held up Yamato, grabbing the handle and slowly pulling it out of its scabbard. This is it…the people wait eagerly until the Golden Guard swung out his katana and points at his opponent without even looking.
A spotlight shines and to everyone gasps in shock to see it shine on Luke Noceda, the Golden Guard's selected opponent. Luke himself is surprised. His friends are especially stunned.
Eda, King, Willow, Gus & Amity: LUKE!?
Luke: ME!?
Lilith: Lilith grins in satisfaction. My, what a surprise. It seems the opponent our Golden Guard has chosen is none other than Edalyn Clawthorne's apprentice, the human boy.
The rest of the audience murmur in surprise.
Citizen 1: The Golden Guard chose a human?
Student 3: Can he actually win?
Student 4: Does Luke even stand a chance?
Citizen 2: Oh, this is gonna get ugly fast.
Amity: Luke! He chose you?
Luke: You wanna fight me?
The Golden Guard nods and after some staring Luke smiles. After winning all those duels in Hexside he's been waiting for a chance to face a strong opponent. No way was he passing this up.
Luke: Alright! You're on! Challenge accepted!
Student 5: Witch's duel!
The crowd cheers while Eda and the other kids share worried looks, not liking the sound of this.
Half an hour later, Luke is in a room with Eda and his friends, all trying to talk him out of this as he wipes his sword with a cloth.
Amity: Luke! This isn't a good idea!
King: Yeah! You can't fight that guy!
Luke: What are you guys so worried about? I can do this.
Willow: Luke, this is serious! This is the Golden Guard we're talking about!
Gus: Yeah! You saw what he can do! He's a one-man army!
Luke scoffs, collapsing his sword and crossing his arms.
Luke: Please, I could've done all that just as easily.
Eda: I have no doubt you could. Eda walks over and drops down. But they're right, kid. The Golden Guard is too powerful. You can't beat him.
Luke: And here we go with humans are fragile and crap.
Eda: It's not that! I know how strong you are and what you're capable. You took down Warden Wrath, Adegast, a Slitherbeast, a Basilisk and Grom, but this is different. The Golden Guard is Belos' most powerful Coven Scout and he's one of the strongest witches alive. And with the Yamato, who knows what else he can do. I know you've been on a winning streak, Luke, but you're not ready for this yet. And I don't like that this guy selected you as his opponent. Something's not right about any of this.
Amity: Luke…we're all just really worried for you.
Luke: I can't just back down. I accepted his challenge. I've gotta fight. Everyone looks anxious is right, now that he's accepted the guard's challenge, he can't back down now. Look, guys, I'll be fine! I've trained in Hexside and under the most powerful witch of the Boiling Isles. I have Rebellion and my Glyph Guns. I'm top student at Hexside for a reason. I've got this. I don't care who this guy is. I'm not afraid of him! I can take whatever he dishes out. Just trust me okay.
The gang share a look and relent, seeing Luke has made up his mind.
Eda: Okay…if you truly believe you can take this guy, then go for it.
Willow: We'll be in the stands rooting for you.
King: And if it looks like you're in trouble, Eda and I can bail you out.
Amity walks up taking Luke's hands, giving a pleading look.
Amity: Luke. Just be careful out there.
Luke: Don't worry Ams. Luke walks backwards, giving a two fingered salute. It's me.
And with that he runs out the door, leaving his friends to look anxious, especially Amity.
Amity: That's why I worry.
Eda places a hand on her shoulder.
King: Eda, do you think Luke can win?
Eda: I don't know King. I really hope so.
Another 15 minutes later Luke is stood in the arena where the audience are cheering their hearts out for a spectacular witch's duel to happen. Eda, King, Gus, Willow and Amity anxiously watch the battle about unfold, especially Amity who clutches her knees tightly for her love interest.
Luke and the Golden Guard are stood in the centre face-to-face, the human boy holding Rebellion and the guard holding the sheathed Yamato, sharing glares as Lilith speaks to the audience with the Coven Heads sat down.
Lilith: Citizens of Bonesborough. The Emperor's Coven is proud to present an exhibition match, featuring the Golden Guard…
The crowd cheers for Belos right-hand, who lazily waves to the people.
Lilith: Vs…the human boy.
Luke: Luke glares at Lilith. Okay, now you're just being mean, hag!
The crowd murmur, believing Luke cannot defeat the Golden Guard.
Student 5: I hope Luke's gonna be okay.
Citizen 3: Ah, I feel sorry for the human. He doesn't stand a chance.
Gus: It's gonna be a battle between two swordsmen!
Eda: Good luck kid. You'll need it.
Luke and the Golden Guard engage in a stare down.
Luke: So…you're the Golden Guard, huh? The Golden Guard says nothing. Silent type, huh? Gee, I bet you're fun at parties.
GG: So…you're the human.
Luke: Huh?
Luke is taken aback to hear the Golden Guard actually speak to him.
GG: The one I've heard rumours about. The Owl Lady's apprentice from the human world.
Luke: Huh. You talk. Hey, do you have a name behind that mask? Or is Golden Guard your real name. If it is, I bet your parents didn't like you very much, cause your name sucks.
GG: At least I look intimidating. Based on what I'm seeing from you, I'm not that impressed.
Luke: Yeah, well based on what I just saw from you, neither am I. Plus, you are a lot scrawnier than I expected.
GG: Hey, it's not like you're packing anymore muscles than I am.
The gang are surprised to hear the exchange of insults between Luke and the Golden Guard.
Gus: He's got him there.
Eda: Dang! I never thought I'd hear anyone who could match Luke's smart aleck mouth.
King: Yeah! And he's the king of smart mouths.
Luke: Huh. Looks like I'm not the only one on the Boiling Isles with a bigmouth.
GG: From what I've heard you're quite a smart aleck for a human.
Luke: Ha! Guilty as charged. But I wanna know something. Why did you pick me as your opponent?
GG: To see if you're worthy to be called a witch-warrior.
Luke: Luke narrows his eyes at that. Is that right?
GG: I've heard rumours about you, human. Your battle with Grom has been made known even to the emperor's coven, including your power.
Luke: You want power? I'll show you power by kicking your ass.
GG: You really think you can. I'll have you know I'm a prodigy. I'm the emperor's right-hand for a reason. And you've seen what I'm capable of. Do you really think you can defeat me, human?
Luke: Dude, I've faced monsters that are 10 times more intimidating than you. He points Rebellion at the Golden Guard. And with each one I beat, eventually I should hit the jackpot sooner or later.
GG: Well, for our sake I hope you live up to your reputation.
Luke: Why don't I show you.
Luke opens Rebellion, igniting and opening the blade.
Luke: Let's get this over with.
The Golden Guard grabs his sword handle and draws Yamato.
GG: Hmph. You took the words right out of my mouth.
Suddenly, Rebellion glows eerily blue, flaring with energy.
Yamato glows eerily yellow, flaring with the same kind of energy.
Neither Luke or the Golden Guard notice but the Coven Heads all do, as do the Owl House gang.
Gus: Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing?
Amity: Rebellion's glowing!
Willow: And so is the Yamato!
King: What's that all about!?
Eda: They're reacting to each other.
They all look to Eda, wondering how she knows that.
Luke got into a battle stance while the Golden Guard doesn't move an inch, much to Luke's annoyance as it means he's not taking him seriously. But they're both ready to fight in a witch-warrior duel. The crowd continue cheering and the bell rings and scream.
Tales of Vesperia – Bet on this Bout
Luke makes the first move, lunging at the Golden Guard with a battle cry, launching a slash that the Golden Guard blocks, locking blades with Luke and holding him back while holding Yamato with just one hand. Luke pushes with all his strength but is unable to overpower Belos' right hand.
GG: That's a fine sword you have there. Too bad you're no match for me and the Yamato.
Luke: It's a big mistake to underestimate me and the Rebellion!
Luke pushes him off and slashes, the Golden Guard leaning to dodge then parry the next slash, Luke launches a horizontal swing that the scout ducks before thrusting his sword, prompting Luke to bring up his to deflect before swinging again only to be dodged and blocked. The Golden Guard effortlessly pushes back and shoves Luke off but that doesn't stop him. Luke thrusts only to be blocked again, the Golden Guard does the same but the goggle wearing boy manages to barely parry. They exchange a couple more swings until they blade lock again and to Luke's dismay, his opponent is still fighting with one hand.
GG: You're seriously the human who I heard defeated Grometheus the Fear Bringer. I'm using one arm and you're barely putting up a fight.
Luke: I'm just getting started!
The crowd cheer at the amazing duel unfolding before them while the Owl House gang are left worried for Luke who's unable to land a single blow on Belos' right hand who's holding him back with one hand.
Gus: Uh oh. Luke's not doing too good.
Willow: I've never met anyone who could match Luke like that.
King: I've never even imagined it.
Amity: And the Golden Guard looks like he isn't even trying. I really hope Luke's gonna be okay.
Eda: Don't worry kids, he'll be fine. This chump may look like he isn't trying but my smart-mouth kid has got plenty tricks up his sleeve.
The Golden Guard goes on the offensive, launching quick swings that Luke struggles to parry. The human boy manages to duck a swing and thrust only for the masked boy to dodge left and stop his wrist.
GG: Either the Owl Lady is a poor teacher…
Eda: Hey!
Luke swung again only for the Golden Guard to dodge and swing, Luke barely blocking and saving himself from being beheaded but is slowly pushed back.
GG: …Or she clearly has a poor student.
Luke kicks the Golden Guard back and lunges for a swing only for the scout to jump and deliver a kick to the back. Luke drops to the floor with a grunt. He twists himself, glaring at the scout approaching him.
GG: I guess the second one is more accurate.
Luke: You're gonna eat those words, pal!
Luke kicks himself up, fanning out an Electric and Light Glyph, intriguing the Golden Guard. Luke tosses Rebellion, prompting the scout to deflect with a swing, sending it up just as Luke had leapt above, smacking his two glyphs together to send out a blast of gold electricity. The Golden Guard blocks but is pushed back. Luke catches Rebellion and it switches to Plant Mode. He reels his sword back and unleashes a barrage of vines. The Golden Guard sheathes his sword then quickly draws it, holding back the vines with a quick barrage of rapid slices. Rebellion is switched back to normal and Luke slams a Plant Glyph on the ground, causing vines to erupt near the Golden Guard, prompting him to flash-step, dodging them, he zooms left to dodge another, slices the next two then leapt up, performing a horizontal spin with his katana and scabbard which slices all the vines. He caught it and lands, looking up at his human opponent.
GG: Spells cast from paper? Never seen that before.
Luke: I'm full of surprises.
The Owl House gang smile to see Luke having a better chance of winning. Eda crosses her arms, nodding proudly at her student.
King: Did you see that!? He managed to surprise him!
Gus: Way to go Luke!
Amity: Go Luke!
Willow: We're rooting for ya!
Dragon Ball Super – Antagonstic Battle
Both warriors leapt up, the Electric Glyph glowing on Rebellion and coating it and electricity and Yamato also flares with gold electricity. Luke and the Golden Guard collide, creating a shockwave that forces the entire audience to shield themselves and eventually, the two warriors' recoil from their collision, their swords flown out of their hands in the process, prompting Luke to summon his Glyph Guns, firing 4 electric bullets. The Golden Guard summons his Artificial Staff, knocking away all the bullets with one swing. Both of them land, skidding back on the ground. Luke points a gun and the Golden Guard his staff.
Luke: Huh. Nice toy you've got there. It's not like any other staff I've seen.
GG: You like it. It's made of artificial magic, a gift from my lord along with Yamato.
Luke: Yeah. Well, here's a gift from me: a couple of bullets to the face.
Luke fires 3 bullets that the Golden Guard deflects with a couple swings from his staff. Luke fires electric, fire, water and light bullets from both his guns, prompting the Golden to deflect them all by expertly spinning his staff. He then aims, holding it with both hands. The red gem flares up with red energy and the Golden Guard unleashes a red energy shot that Luke dodges by flipping to the side, the shot exploding on the wall behind him and leaving a small crater.
The Golden Guard unleashes a barrage of energy shots that Luke ran around the arena to dodge, somersaulting over one, sliding beneath two, dodging through a gap between two with a horizontal twist, side flipping to avoid a couple more then ran along a wall. The Golden Guard kept firing shots that explode behind Luke until the human boy leapt high up into the air much to the awe of the spectators.
Luke unleashes a barrage of laser bullets from his guns and the Golden Guard retaliates with more shots from his staff. All the shots collide in small but epic explosions as Luke dove down. The Golden Guard spun his staff, gathering energy and tracing spell circle on the ground around him, sliding back and sending out a massive stone fist at Luke. The human boy flips, running down the fist and firing more shots that the Golden Guard is forced to deflect by spinning his staff. When Luke closes in inches away, the scout flash-steps, Luke rolling on his former positing and quickly looks up to see the Golden Guard in the air where he spun and unleashes 10 lightning bolts.
Luke frantically ran back, barely dodging them and then bounces off a wall, dodging the last one, flying straight for the Golden Guard who flash-steps and flew towards his opponent.
The goggle-headed and masked warriors unleash several more shots that kept colliding as they got closer. Both warriors meet with their knees, the recoil sending them flipping back and landing on the ground where they ran towards each other. Luke swung a gun, the Golden Guard bends back to dodge before swinging his staff the Luke ducks, followed up with 2 thrusts that Luke barely dodges. The human boy thrusts his gun and fires a shot only for the scout to guard and redirect with his staff, holding it diagonally. Luke tries to fire his other Glyph Gun only for the guard to grab his wrist and force him to shoot dozens of shots that miss him, forcing the audience to comically duck.
The two share a glare and Luke kicks off of the Golden Guard. When he lands they both charge each other again. The Golden Guard thrusts his staff but Luke knocks it down with a gun then swipes his other while firing a shot, prompting the guard to duck. The two the exchange blows with their weapons until Luke locks his guns onto the Golden Guard's staff, forcing it down and launching an elbow that the masked boy blocks and grabs Luke's arm, pulling him off. He launches a swing with his staff again the Luke barely stops and redirects with his gun, prompting the Golden Guard to deliver several kicks that Luke barely blocks, losing a Glyph Gun in the process and the masked witch pulls his staff back, yanking off Luke's other gun and sending flying behind him, landing next to his other lost Glyph Gun.
Before the Golden Guard could attack again, Luke quickly executed an upper flip kick, sending his staff flying into the air but the moment he lands, the masked witch leapt forward to deliver a kick. Luke crosses his arms, blocking but the force sends him flying back, hitting the ground with a grunt.
Amity: Oh no!
Willow: Luke!
King: Man, this guy's tough!
Gus: He's Belos' right-hand man!
Eda: Don't panic yet kids, this duel's far from over.
The Golden Guard flips up to catch his staff and swings at Luke but he kicks himself up to dodge. The guard follows up with another swing, aiming for his feet but the human boy jumps and rolls over the staff, rolling behind his masked opponent and snagging his Glyph Guns and firing ice shots, forming a floor of ice in front of him. The Golden Guard twists to fire a beam of red energy and Luke retaliates by sliding back on the ice floor and combining his guns to fire a beam if blue energy. Both beams collide in a big explosion, forcing everyone to scream in surprise and shield themselves while the Coven Heads remain unfazed, their cloaks whipping a little.
Luke comes to a stop and kicks himself up, separating and cross aiming his guns while the Golden Guard held his staff, taking Luke seriously now as the gem flares with red energy. The moment they do, both boys look back and kick the swords up by the handle. Luke leapt up and delivers a flip kick with Yamato and the Golden Guard does the same with Rebellion.

(Slow-motion) Both swords flew and collide, grinding against each other and glowing as they do, returning to their owners.
Luke catches Rebellion after dismissing his guns, getting into a fighting stance.
The Golden Guard catches Yamato after dismissing his staff, this time getting into his own fighting stance, a right hanging stance.
Devil May Cry 5 – The Duel
The crowd roar in amazement, even Eda and the others are equally astonished with how
Gus: Whoa.
Amity: Luke is so amazing.
Willow: Yeah, I'll say. He's really holding his own against the Golden Guard.
Amity: Amity can't help but blush and fawn. And he looks so dreamy while doing it.
Gus: I can't believe how evenly matched they are.
King: You know, there's something interesting about how Luke and this guy are fighting each other.
Eda: I see it to King. They're perfectly anticipating each other's moves.
Willow: You mean, like they share some kind of bond without ever having met.
Eda: That's exactly what I mean, Willow. They all give Eda confused looks. It's weird but there's something about this guy that I can't get my head wrapped around.
Luke and the Golden Guard stood still, ready and waiting. Eventually, they rush towards each other, giving out battle cries and swung their swords, engaging in a blade lock, the Golden Guard using two hands this time. They push with all their strength, sharing heated glares.
GG: Huh. Not bad…for a human.
Luke: You're not so bad yourself…for a stooge.
Luke pushes the Golden Guard off, then swings, prompting his masked opponent to leap up and drop back down for a cleave but Luke ducks and launches another swing that's parried. Luke and the Golden Guard are now in a frenzy, exchanging fast swing and parries. Luke thrusts, prompting the guard to parry with his scabbard, causing Luke to recoil and stumble. The Golden Guard flash-steps, disappearing and Luke is left searching for him.
The human boy looks up, his opponent reappearing in the air, diving down to cleave Luke who quickly launches a swing, barely blocking him. Luke struggles as the Golden Guard slowly overpowers him, almost forcing him to his knees.
GG: Guess I'll need to take you seriously after all.
Luke: What!?
The Golden Guard knocks Luke back, performing a spin midair, following it up with a breakdance spin on the ground, swiping Luke off his feet and kneeing him in the stomach. Luke cries out as he's sent flying across the ground. He barely manages to regain his footing and quickly summons a Glyph Gun, firing laser bullets at the Golden Guard which he evades by simply leaning his head. Luke fires more bullets but the guard flash-steps dodging every one of them as he heads for the human boy who dismisses his gun to switch his sword to Ice Mode, summoning a wall of ice in front of him with one swing. The Golden Guard dashes at his speed thrusting Yamato so hard through the ice that it shatters just as Luke ducks and lunges for a slash, prompting the Golden Guard to flash-step again and flip back. He does a couple back flips when he lands, sharing a glare with Luke, the Rebellion reverting to normal.
Luke: That all you got, Golden Chump!
The Golden Guard just sheathes Yamato into his scabbard, gathering yellow electrical energy into it.
Golden Guard: Come and find out human.
Luke: You asked for it!
Luke switches Rebellion to Light Mode and charges the Golden Guard once again, launching a couple swings the guard parries with his sheathed sword. Luke thrusts only to smack the handle, allowing the Golden Guard to draw his sword with a strong upper swing, smacking Rebellion so hard the force sends Luke flying and screaming high up into the air. He falls towards the stands, prompting some spectators to scram as Luke has hard landing on the seats.
Lilith nods, slightly impressed despite her obvious hatred and jealousy towards the Golden Guard. It satisfies her to see her sister's student getting humiliated like this. The Weaponry and Abomination Coven Heads both exchange unreadable looks. The Golden Guard sheathes his katana.
Luke is laid on his back groaning in agony as his sword reverts to normal.
Amity: Luke!
Eda, Amity, Willow, Gus and King all ran over to Luke, the former two helping him by his shoulders as he groans.
Amity: Luke! Are you alright!?
Willow: Are you hurt anywhere!?
King: Talk to us Luke!
Luke opens his eyes glaring angrily at the Golden Guard with a growl.
Gus: He's not saying anything!
Eda: Kid, say something!
Luke says nothing, panting and growling at the guard, knowing he's giving a mocking expression under his mask. Refusing to back down Luke leapt and spun off the stands.
Eda: Luke!
Amity: No, don't! Luke, he's too powerful!
Rebellion switches to Fire Mode and Luke drops down to deliver a flaming slash only for the Golden Guard to draw his sword again and block, cancelling out the flames and forcing Rebellion to revert to normal again. He swings harder, knocking Luke off balance and delivering a kick to the stomach that sends Luke flying and crying out in pain, hitting the floor hard and clutching his stomach with an agonised groan.
The gang are stunned to see Luke getting beaten, outmatched and outclassed by this high-level coven scout.
King: I can't believe it! No one's ever tossed Luke around like this!
Amity: But he was doing so well before!
Eda: The Golden Guard was holding back before to gauge Luke's skills!
Luke quicks himself up, panting and glaring at the Golden Guard. Getting truly serious now, Luke removes his goggles and clutches his hoodie, yanking it off him and tossing both clothing away. They hit the floor and Luke is now holding Rebellion with both hands with a fiery look and with a shout he lunges at the Golden Guard, the two exchanging fast swings, their swords glowing and unleashing surges of electricity with each collision, causing everyone to shield themselves.
King: Why does this always happen whenever they clash!?
Eda: The Rebellion and The Yamato are resonating!
Willow: But why!?
Eda: How should I know!?
The two of them blade lock, Luke pushing and holding back the Golden Guard with all his strength, both grunting and glaring.
Golden Guard: You're a stubborn one, human! You just won't stay down!
Luke: Guess it runs in my family!
Luke pushes hard enough to redirect Yamato to the ground, he and the Golden Guard sharing another glare.
Golden Guard: Ready to surrender, human?
Luke: Never!
GG: Oh well, guess I'll just have to finish you off the old-fashioned way.
The two quickly separate, getting some good distance from each other. Then, Luke charges The Golden Guard with 3 swings only to be parried. The two then trade blows, Luke barely dodges getting sliced by two swings and when they exchange another the impact sends them recoiling. Luke gives a battle cry, launching more swings that the Golden Guard dodges or parry. Luke's next swing causes the scout to flash-step, disappearing form his sight.
Luke: Huh!?
Luke looks around for any sight of his opponent but was too late to spot him high above him. The Golden Guard drops down, stomping Luke's sword wrist and pinning him down. Luke cries out in pain from the force, unable to escape
GG: That all you got human?
Luke: You wish, asshole!
Luke summons a Glyph Gun and fires a shot. The Golden Guard grunts in pain when it hits his mask, causing him to stumble back away from Luke who quickly kicks himself up.
His friends all cheer.
Eda: Booyah! That's my boy!
King: He made a hit!
The Golden Guard breathes, covering his mask and turning to reveal it to be slightly cracked in the one of the areas of his eyes. He gives a little chuckle, still unfazed.
Golden Guard: Oh…human, you're going to regret ever doing that.
This threat worried Luke's friends.
Willow: Uh oh.
Gus: I think he made him mad.
Luke: Luke remains determined. I'm not afraid of you.
Golden Guard: You will be human.
Luke dismisses his gun and the two of them got into stances with their sword. With a battle cry, Luke charges the Golden Guard once again and they engage in another fierce but one-sided clash.
Luke and the Golden Guard exchange a swing, the guard forces his sword down, grabs his wrist and sweeps his foot, sending Luke flying, spinning and screaming while he uses the momentum to do the same minus the screaming. The Golden Guard lands on his feet and Luke lands hard on his back, causing his friends to gasp in fear, Amity clutching her chest and Eda clutching her knees.
Luke kicks himself up and cries out, launching another swing but the Golden Guard slides behind him and delivers a kick to the back, sending him stumbling. He flash-steps to slash Luke only for the human boy to flip high above him. When he lands, he launches a spin kick the guard ducks before the two trade a couple swings.
GG: This is your last chance! Either you give up or end up getting humiliated in front of all of Bonesborough!
Luke: I've never quit before and I'm not starting now!
Luke forces the Golden Guard back with some kicks until the masked witch smacks the goggle-headed boy in the gut with the handle of his sword, causing Luke to gasp for air before swiping him off his feet. Luke lands on his back with a grunt as the Golden Guard sheathes Yamato and resummons his staff.
When Luke tries to slash the Golden Guard, he flash-steps, teleporting away from Luke and launches a red energy shot that explodes in front of the human boy, sending him flying and screaming. He lands on the floor hard, covered in bruises and dirt much to the horror of his friends.
Amity & Eda: NO!
Willow: This is horrible!
Gus: Luke's getting thrashed out there!
King: He can't win! He's completely outmatched! What do we do Eda!?
Eda: Eda is at a loss for words. I…I don't know!
Luke got on a knee, using his sword to help him up as he pants in pain. He looks up to see the Golden Guard stood in front of him pointing Yamato right at him.
GG: You put up a good fight for a human. But alas, this fight is over.
Luke: I'm not finished yet!
Luke bolts up, lunging and swinging his sword only for the guard to parry with his scabbard. When Luke swung again the Golden Guard dodges and pins Rebellion to the ground with Yamato, elbowing Luke in the shoulder and delivers a punch to his side, sending him sprawling across the ground. Luke claws on attacks only for the masked witched to deliver a kick to gut, grab Luke by his shirt and toss him over his shoulder, send Luke flying and screaming. Luke hits the ground, barely recovering with a roll and quickly summoning a Glyph Gun to fire 10 shots at the Golden Guard.
But to his horror, the guard rapidly spun Yamato around by its and with expert precision he deflects every single laser bullets. Luke could only look in shock.
Luke: How did you-!?
Before Luke could finish the Golden Guard flash-steps behind him in the air where he drops down to cleave. Luke manages to block but his injuries have weakened him and he ends up recoiling, allowing the Golden Guard to land on the ground to sweep Luke off his feet again and deliver a roundhouse kick that sends him screaming and flying. He manages to recover but just as he got up, the guard tosses his scabbard and it flies towards Luke who barely caught it with both hands but then the Golden Guard flash-steps, slamming Yamato into its scabbard so hard it slams into Luke's chest, causing him to gasp for air before he's sent screaming and sliding across the ground much to the horror of his friends while the rest of the crowd cheer.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – Sonic, Knuckles
Amity: NO! LUKE!
Gus: That had to hurt!
Willow: He can't last much longer!
King: Could…could he actually lose!
Eda: Let's not panic! Luke still has one last trick up his sleeve!
Luke is laid on his back groaning in pain, but he manages to get up, groaning in pain as he clutches his stomach. He's bruised and battered but despite that he manages to slowly get back, still groaning but determined as he clutches Rebellion and glares at the Golden Guard who has sheathed Yamato back into its scabbard.
Luke: "Oh man…I'm getting my ass kicked and this guy doesn't look like he's breaking a sweat.
GG: Pitiful. I'm not feeling one bit of the power you used to defeat Grom.
Luke gives the Golden Guard a hateful glare, having had enough of hearing this guy.
Luke: If there's anyone I can't stand, it's someone who has a bigger mouth than me. You want power. Here it comes.
Luke surprises the crowd by flaring up with electricity engulfing his entire body, his eyes becoming black, fangs and claws forming. In response, Rebellion glows electric blue as a silhouette briefly forms around Luke again.
The audience murmur in shock to see this from a human. Lilith herself gasps in disbelief at what she's seeing from Luke…the same look Eda had when she first saw Luke in this form.
Lilith: It…it can't be! This power! The way his sword is reacting! It's…! One good look at Luke and in his place, she sees a demon that looks like him again. But how!?
The Weaponry and Abomination Coven Heads are slightly moved by what they're witnessing.
King: Yeah! Now we're talking! Let's see Golden Boy handle Luke all powered up!
Willow: Go for it Luke!
Luke continues surging with electricity but underneath his mask the Golden Guard isn't all the impressed.
GG: This is it? This is the form you assumed when you defeated Grom. What a joke, all you've done is change your looks a little. I expected more from you, but you're unskilled.
Luke grits his teeth at that, his hair turning blue as if in response.
GG: Untrained.
Luke gets into a stance with Rebellion, surging with electricity.
GG: Undisciplined.
Luke lifts his sword up, becoming engulfed in a blazing blue aura.
GG: And unworthy!
Luke's eyes glow brighter, ready to attack.
Luke: You forgot one. Unstoppable!
Luke blasts off faster than bullet, engulfed in energy and collides with the Golden Guard. When he does, a massive white flash explodes and the most enormous surge of blue and yellow electricity surges, rocking the entire arena and forcing everyone, including Lilith to shield themselves from the flash.
When it all subsides, what they see next was astonishing, shocking for Luke's friends and Lilith. The Golden Guard had effortlessly blocked Luke's insanely powerful attack, simply by holding up his katana which is slightly unsheathed.
The force of the impact causes his hood to whip back, revealing blonde hair with a hair lock hanging above his forehead and the cracked area of his mask falls apart, revealing one of his eyes, the colour of which is red and slightly baggy.
What's more shocking is the Golden Guard is in the same powered up state Luke is. The whites in his eye turns black, he explodes with gold aura and surges with electricity. Yamato glows gold, surging with yellow electricity just like Rebellion.

Devil May Cry 5 – Bury the Light
The entire crowd is in awe, especially Eda, King, Amity, Willow, Gus and even Lilith.
King: No way!
Amity: Oh…my…TITAN!
Willow: Him too!
Gus: But how!?
Eda is beyond speechless, her mouth agape in sheer disbelief as she watches the Yamato glow and react, unable to understand how this is even possible. She gets why Luke is able to do this but Belos' lapdog! It doesn't make any sense. Even Lilith is just as stumped and speechless as the Golden Guard displaying this power.
No one could be more horrified than Luke right now,
Luke: No way…you too?
When the Golden Guard speaks his voice has the same distortion as Luke's.
GG: What? Did you seriously think you were the only one who could do this little trick. Sorry to disappoint you.
The Golden Guard drew and swung out Yamato, causing Luke to recoil and then cleaves into Rebellion so hard Luke is smashed into the ground, releasing a massive surge of gold electricity that forces the audience to shield themselves again, some of them blown away.
Luke bounces off the ground, gasping for air as he reverts back to his regular form. The Golden Guard then thrusts his katana, driving it right through Luke's shoulder. The young witch-warrior could only scream out in horrible pain and agony as half the sword sticks right through his shoulder, covered in blood.
Eda, Amity, Willow, Gus and King were horrified, the girls covering their mouths in shock and disgust.
Eda: No…
Amity: LUKE!
Luke continues crying out in pain, then glares at the Golden Guard while panting and groaning in anguish, right in the eye as blood seeps out of his shoulder and he clutches Yamato.
GG: And you call yourself a witch-warrior. What a laugh.
Luke reaches out only for the Golden Guard to twist Yamato, spilling more blood as Luke screams louder. The guard then tosses Luke behind him with a swing and he hits the ground with a grunt, clutching his bleeding shoulder in agony as he groans and cries out.
Willow: He's hurt!
King: My brother!
Eda: My kid!
Lilith: It would seem the victor of this duel is clear.
Luke scrambles to his feet despite his agony, Rebellion still clutched in one had. He thrusts his sword only for the Golden Guard to twist and swing Yamato, disarming Luke, sending Rebellion flying into the air and slices Luke across his chest, causing him to cry out and stumble in pain, clutching his stomach, a cut formed on his shirt. The Golden Guard surges with energy and prepares a finishing move with Yamato which glows with energy.
GG: I think I've played with you long enough!
With a battle cry he charges the weakened and stumbling Luke and flash-steps, flying through the air and in an instant, he slices Luke across his side, sliding to a stop far behind him.
Silence befalls the entire arena, everyone watched what just occurred with mouths agape in disbelief, especially Luke's friends, even Lilith while the Coven Heads remain stoic. Luke is frozen in shock, holding his side as he struggles to process what just happened as the Golden Guard stood away from him, posed with Yamato.
GG: It's over.
Luke slowly turns around, facing the guard as he spun his katana and slowly sheathes Yamato.
GG: Jackpot.
The moment Yamato is fully sheathed, the final slash sinks in and Luke screams in pain when blood spills out from his side. That scream turns into a groan of defeat when he stumbles and falls on his back, defeated and bleeding on the ground, Rebellion sticking to the ground right next to him and losing its glow.
After some more silence the entire audience of demons not caring about Luke's injury erupts with cheers for the Golden Guard and the end to the spectacular battle. Eda and the others on the other hand are horrified with Luke's loss and condition.
Owl House Gang: LUKE!
The Golden Guard turns around, bringing his cloak back up to hide his hair and facing his defeated opponent as he struggles to lift himself up, clutching his side as he glares at his victor, groaning in pain.
GG: It's all over human. But you fought bravely and for that I give you, my respect. But here's a little life lesson. It takes more than bravery to become a true witch. You need wits and strength. And you have neither.
Too injured and beaten to retaliate, Luke drops back, falling into unconsciousness.
Willow: IS HE ALRIGHT!
Amity: WE HAVE TO HELP HIM!
With a cry of rage Eda surprises everyone by leaping off the stands with King hanging onto her.
Willow, Gus & Amity: Eda!?
She lands right besides Luke whilst the crowd continues cheering, her cloak getting pulled back and revealing herself to everyone as she lifts Luke head and King jumps down, shaking his arm.
Eda: Luke!
King: Luke! Luke! Wake up! Say something!
Eda: Come on, kid! Don't you dare die on me! Stay with us! Luke!
GG: Well, well, well. Eda turns to see the Golden Guard resting the sheathed Yamato on his shoulder. The infamous Eda the Owl Lady, here in person. So, you came to this Covention too, huh? Eda growls and King glares in hatred. Quite a student you have there. Too bad he's proven himself to be quite a failure.
Eda: Eda got up, summoning her staff and her eyes glowing. You miserable little punk! Before anyone tries to capture me, I'm going to rip you apart!
GG: Don't be such a drama queen. Your human is still alive.
King: He's telling the truth! Eda looks to King who feels Luke's palm, after having brought his hoodie. I feel a pulse. Luke's not dead!
GG: Of course, he's not dead. I intentionally missed his vitals. This was a witch's duel, not a duel to the death. Though if you want him to stay alive, I'd suggest you take him to a doctor. Eda growls, wanting nothing more than to hurt this lapdog for what he's done. Unless you'd rather deal with them.
The Golden Guard points over to the Coven Scouts all running over with swords, spears and nets.
Scout: Seize! The Owl Lady!
The scouts all surround Eda, King and the downed Luke, the little demon jumping onto the former's shoulder.
King: We're surrounded Eda!
Eda looks around, clutching her staff to see how right King is. As much as she wants to rip the Golden Guard a new one, she can't risk getting captured. Right now, healing up Luke takes top priority. She gives her sister a glare which she returns before picking up Luke, holding her under her armpit and standing next to Rebellion, holding her staff up and giving the Golden Guard one last glare.
Eda: This isn't over Golden Boy!
She slams the butt of her Owl Staff, creating massive owl of orange energy that engulfs her and creates a blinding light that forces the entire crowd to shield themselves, the Golden Guard and scouts using their cloaks. When the light subsides, Eda is nowhere to be seen. She, King, Luke and Rebellion have all disappeared.
…
Scout 1: What the!? She's gone!
The guard walks up to wear Eda was, still resting Yamato over his shoulder.
GG: Impressive. I see the Owl Lady lives up to her reputation.
Two of the scouts ran up to their superior.
Scout 2: Sir, shall we do a sweep of the Covention and track her down.
GG: No. She's long gone by now. Besides, my work here is done.
The crowd of demons and witches all cheer for their champion again and he held up Yamato.
Lilith is still trying to process everything that just happened. She wants to be happy that her sister's student was beaten and humiliated but after seeing the power displayed by both Luke and the Golden Guard, her brains in a state of confusion.
The Coven Heads remain in their seats, the Weaponry Coven Head seems to have had taken a particular interest in this match.
Amity, Willow and Gus exchange worried glances before running out of the stands, then the Covention with one destination in mind…
At Owl House the door to Luke's room is flung open by Amity, Willow and Gus, all panicking.
Amity: LUKE!
They find Eda, King and Hooty by Luke's bed with distressed looks. The trio quickly ran over and gasp in horror to see the state their leader's in.
Luke is laid on his bed, his forehead, body, right arm and wrist wrapped in bandages and one bandage covering a part of his face. Rebellion and his amulet are laid next to him and his goggles, coat and t-shirt are all hung up. Amity drops down to Luke, softly rubbing his face.
Amity: Ohmygosh…Luke…
Willow: Eda…is Luke gonna be okay?
Eda: He took a real beating today, but he'll be fine. I used healing spells and provided as much medical care as I could. He just needs to rest for a couple days and he'll be back on his feet.
Amity: Thank goodness. Amity keeps rubbing her face. Poor Luke, he must be feeling horrible.
Gus: I knew the Golden Guard was strong. But I can't believe how badly Luke was beaten out there.
King: Me too. This is the first time he's ever lost a fight.
Hooty: Yeah. I'll bet Luke's feeling really ashamed and humiliated over losing like that.
Amity: Eda. Even if Luke recovers…is he gonna be okay.
Eda: Eda smiles. Hey, don't worry. Luke's a tough kid. Sure, he might mope a little since this is his first loss but I'm sure he'll move on and use this to get stronger. She gently rubs Luke's forehead. For now, he just needs to rest.
Eda gently rubs her student's forehead, then frowns, thinking about what happened in the Covention, mainly the Golden Guard, the way he wields the Yamato, the power he unleashed and the Yamato reacting to him the way it did.
Eda: "None of this makes sense. Only one man can use the Yamato like that. The Golden Guard…just who is he? And how was he able to get the sword to react to him the way it did? Just what is going on here?"
In the emperor's castle, the Golden Guard was making his report to Belos.
He's knelt down in front of the emperor in the throne room, his mask repaired. We get a good look at the massive throne room for the first time. Belos is sat on a gold throne at that back. Behind him was a beating MASSIVE GREEN HEART far larger than one would belong in any current living creature. It's hooked up to pipes above the golden throne, which is flanked with flaming braziers.
Belos: I watched your duel with the human. Well done, nephew. You displayed brilliant power and ferocity today just as I had taught you.
GG: Thank you, sir. But it was nothing, really. The human was no match for me in the end. Still…he did put up a good fight. Enough to force me to use my power. I have a feeling this human's going to be a worthy opponent down the line.
Belos: Yes. I agree. His power and his sword are quite formidable. He holds a gift that no human should normally possess, especially at his young age. And the way he fought…it brought a sense of nostalgia to me. It's quite intriguing.
GG: Should I send our forces to bring him before you?
Belos: No. I've seen all I needed to see from him. The human will come to me, eventually. Right now, my primary focus will continue to be the Owl Lady and making preparations for the Day of Unity. That will be all for today. Go to your chambers and await further instructions.
The Golden Guard nods and walks out the throne room, his cloak wrapped around him, leaving the emperor alone.
The Golden Guard walks down the golden coloured hallways. When reaches a corner, Lilith emerges and they both come to a stop, facing each other. Lilith gives a glare and the guard's expression is unreadable.
GG: Can I help you?
Lilith: How?
GG: How, what?
Lilith: That power you displayed. How did you do that with the Yamato?
GG: Because I'm too good.
Lilith: Lilith crosses her arms. Don't toy with me, brat. I want to know why the Yamato reacted to you like that. It should react like that to the original owner, and anyone descended from him.
GG: How should I know? I'm not his descendent. And I don't care either. I have the power and I intend to use it however I like. Shouldn't you be focusing on capturing the Owl Lady instead of asking me annoying questions. The emperor is getting impatient with your lack of progress. Lilith grits her teeth. I wouldn't wanna be in your shoe if you keep delaying. Now if you excuse me…
The Golden Guard takes his leave, leaving Lilith to growl in annoyance at his rudeness. This punk keeps receiving special treatment from the emperor not only because he's a teen prodigy but also he's the emperor's nephew. Something Lilith found unfair and annoying due to the Golden Guard taking advantage of it and teasing her whenever he got the chance.
Lilith: I hate that brat.
Lilith looks down with a frown, thinking back to the duel.
(Flashback)
Luke flares up with electricity engulfing his entire body, his eyes becoming black, fangs and claws forming. In response, Rebellion glows electric blue as a silhouette briefly forms around Luke again.
Luke surges with electricity.
His hair turns blue.
Luke gets into a stance with Rebellion, surging with electricity.
Luke lifts his sword up, becoming engulfed in a blazing blue aura.
He blasts off towards the Golden Guard for his big attack.
(End of Flashback)
Just like Eda, Lilith is hit by an epiphany the moment she saw that form and the Rebellion react to him the way it did.
Lilith: That boy…could he be what I think he is?
Lilith feels someone grab her shoulder and gasps when she's twisted around to face the cloaked Head of the Weaponry Coven.
Coven Head: I have a little favour I need you to do for me…Lily.
