Sorry this took so long...
Aizawa POV: Present Day
I came to slowly, static crackling in my ears. It solidified into a more normal sound, a heartbeat monitor. My head pounded relentlessly, and sounds came in more muted. I pried my eyes open. Unsurprisingly, a hospital room. I shifted slightly, scanning the room. Same hospital Denki was in, with the electronics back on, so it seemed. I slid my eyes to the left, meeting the blue eyes of none other than Hizashi Yamada. His hair down, dressed in civilian clothes with concern in his eyes.
"You know, I usually like watching my husband wake up, but these are less than ideal circumstances." He spoke softly, aware of the headache I had.
I let out a soft chuckle before asking the one question I needed to know, "Denki… where?"
"We don't know." Hizashi said, handing me a glass of water. "He vanished into the wind, or the city, I guess. No one can find him. He apparently picked up some disappearing skills while in an alternate universe. Neither the cops nor Pros have picked up a trace of him after you… engaged with him."
Uh oh. Zashi was speaking carefully. He usually never does that unless something was up. It wasn't good that one of my problem children vanished without a trace, but it was fixable. It had to be. "Zashi. What aren't you telling me?"
My husband sighed, running his hair through his hand, "You'll have to do damage control Shouta. For Class 1A. They are probably spiraling right now, considering the news anchor, who by the way, is calling for UA's head. UA has yet to tell the public this was Parallel's fault. Parents are going nuts. It's bad Sho!" He pinched his nose with a long sigh, "I figured I'll deal with the press, vultures though they are. You deal with Class 1A, they are not listening to anyone else, but I'm sure they will listen to you."
I nodded, not overly surprised by the fact that this was already public, just disappointing. Kaminari should be fine out by himself without memories, I cannot help him at the moment, but there are nineteen other children who needed me now, more than ever. Kaminari clearly leveled up his abilities greatly, so as long as he doesn't fall into the wrong crowd, he will be okay.
"Well, let's get going then." I said, smiling slightly at Hizashi. He grinned back.
Twenty minutes later, we walked out of the hospital and were heading back to UA. Hizashi handed me an iPad, displaying a recording of the news. I needed to be prepared for what my students might be thinking of Denki when I arrived.
The news intro music filled the car as the speakers came into view. "UA is at a downfall after a recent attack at a hospital! One of their students, who will go unnamed due to the police barricade stopping our investigation," Zashi snorted at that line, "managed to shut down a hospital electrical system completely. One of UA's teachers who was apparently trying to 'help' managed to lose the student as he fled the building! We suspect this timing so close to the villain attack means only one thing: the student might be working with those villains! Tune in later tonight for more-"
I clicked the iPad shut with a long sigh. "Really? Villain?" I muttered.
"No one really knows what happened Shouta. You were the only person to talk with him before he vanished. Except the nurse he held at knifepoint." Hizashi pointed out. "What really happened?"
I stared out the window for a bit, collecting myself, "Kaminari is in pain, and scared. He didn't remember me."
"What do you mean?" Zashi asked.
"I mean, he doesn't remember me at all. It's like his memory got erased while he was in that other universe. I don't know how. He was skittish and distrusting of every nurse in there, going as far as treating them as threats. He called quirks 'mutations' and accused me of working with the humans."
Zashi hummed, thoughtful, "I think this might make more sense if we could interrogate Parallel. She was the one to put him into the universe, she probably knows some things about it."
"Yes, but she is unbalanced. I doubt she would give us anything. Have the police tried to get anything out of her?"
"Result have yet to come back. We might have to wait until tomorrow."
"Well then. I guess I'll talk to 1A. Shouldn't be too hard… I hope."
"Good luck Sho."
I sighed, adjusting my capture scarf outside the door of Class 1A dorms. I knew this would be the hardest part of the day. I'm sure that none of the students will think of Kaminari as a villain, and if I played my cards right, they would stay out of trying to help. Not that this will be an easy conversation at all.
I walked into the dorms, and immediately all voices hushed. Iida motioned for everyone to sit down before he followed. This was the quietest I have ever heard this class.
"What have you heard about the incident at the hospital?" I asked, scanning my eyes over all the students. I might as well find out how much they knew first and go from there.
"1s Denks really okay?" asked Mina
"Did he put out the power?" asked Kiri
"Did you get hurt?" asked lida
"Why are they saying Denki is a Villain?" asked Sero.
I put up a hand to stop that thought process. The room fell completely silent, after that. "Here is what happened." I started, "Denki did kill all the power at the hosiptal."
Several people gasped.
"He held a nurse hostage and escaped all Pro Hero interaction and police. He is somewhere out on the streets in Japan, and no one knows where he is."
"Yeaḥ right! Like Dunce face could even evade practice villains during training!" interrupted the explosive resident of 1A.
"He managed to best me, Bakugo. He is considered a villain by the media at the moment." I explained.
"He's NOT though!" Kirishima was on his feet.
"I do not consider him to be one." I corrected. They all let out a sigh of relief.
"He is dangerous, however. I don't want ANY of you looking for Mr. Kaminari. He has no memory of Japan or UA and will consider you all as threats."
"What?" exclaimed half the students.
"How does he not remember?"
"That doesn't make sense!"
"How long was he over there?"
"We have to help him!"
"Listen up!" I interrupted, "None of you will do anything! This is extremely serious. He has at least two years of experience over all of you."
Silence fell over the dorm for the second time.
I closed my eyes a took a deep breath before starting again, "Look. The truth of the matter is we don't know what's going on with Kaminari. He does not remember the world the way it is. We don't know where he is, what happened in the parallel universe, or how his memory disappeared. Much less if we can get it back. Nothing I did seemed to trigger his memory. What we do know is that he very wary of any authority and views it as the enemy. His skill with his quirk and knowledge in the field has improved greatly. If you encounter him anywhere, let Present Mic or I know immediately as we are going to be assisting very closely with this case. Do not engage him. Most importantly, do not underestimate him."
"Are they treating him like a ranked villain?" asked Bakugo.
"No. We are trying our best to bring him home, but please. Leave this to the Pros." I responded.
It was quiet again. The students were nodding their heads in acceptance.
"I'll let you all know any updates as they come. Now, get some rest. We still have the training camp this weekend." I left with that sentence. At least my students seemed to grasp the seriousness of this issue and was going to let the Pros take control of the situation. I can only hope this will be resolved soon.
Meanwhile Dabi POV…
There was a kid wandering outside near the base. Probably just lost. Can't fry the brat, the League didn't need that kind of attention. I scooted out on the street, skirting around the corner to scare the brat off. He was small, golden-haired somewhat masked by a black hoodie and black face mask. Something about him seemed almost familiar. No.
When he spotted me, I walked closer holding up a hand towards him palm up and let a small ignite of blue flame leap between my fingers, "You are in the wrong neighborhood kiddo."
He tilted his head, unafraid. "No. I'm really not. After all … I am just like you." He held up a hand, and bright electricity darted around his palm.
It clicked where I have seen him. UA brat, last on the leaderboard of the school. Apparently he's 'just like me'. Whatever could that… wait. I extinguished my fire. This was a potential recruit, and we have all already seen the news. Shigaraki will be very pleased to hear this.
"Well then. Come on kid, we got work to do."
