yh915: You will see ;)
Blast: Right? So proud of him. Also, wont abandon this one, just slow updates.
Ninja-dude1: Ta-da! here is the long awaited update, I will hopefully become better with these.
I woke up in a different room. Wait. Where was Peter? We were breaking into the Penta- Pen- whatever. When did I get here? I was barefoot, which was new. It was cold and dark. The floor was cement. My throat hurt, like I went a long time without water or talking for far too long. My head hurt as well. I've dealt with headaches before, mostly because of Mutation overuse. This definitely felt like that. Dunce face, as he would call it. Wait. Who?
I remember his red eyes. Or silver? Were we not breaking into the government place. To free… to free someone. Why? I cried out as pain laced through my skull. My brain felt fried. What happened? I looked around the room and that's when the realization hit me. Not a room. A prison.
Four cement walls, cement floor, cement ceiling, and one door. Heavy metal, definitely locked. I was wearing a simple black tee and black shorts. A shiver ran down my spine. I was completely alone, but that is fine. I was trained for this; I got this. I was being trained for this? Pain sparked through my brain again. I do not remember.
The metal door creaked open, and there were two people standing in the doorway. One is a young woman, wearing the same clothes as me, with loose blond hair falling down her back and a collar around her neck. I reached for my neck. There was a collar there as well, but it felt different than hers. She had a steady blue light on hers, but mine was simple iron all the way around. Weird.
The other was a small man. Dwarf. He was dressed in a suit, clipboard in hand. He held a small remote in the other hand. He looked at the remote, and then at the girl, saying "You know the rules. Step out of line, and you will regret it. Now, read his mind, and tell me everything you see."
He pressed a button on the remote, and the blue light blinked off. I looked on as she stepped towards me. The pain in my head increased. I let out a gasp and dug my fingers into my hair. I can't let her in. I cannot. I have to protect- I have to. Tears rose into my eyes. Who? Who do I have to protect? Why can't I remember? The pressure disappeared as I sank to my knees. Despair wrecked my body. I cannot even remember who I was protecting.
"He.. he is blocking me." The women sounded surprised.
"Try harder." The short man hissed.
"N-no" I stuttered out before the pressure increased around my head, like a vice encircling my brain. A sob escaped as static seemed to build in my head, sparking against my fingers that were threatening to pull out my hair.
The pressure released for a second time, the blonde woman said, "I cannot? His brain feels like the collar."
The small man sighed. "You are dismissed." I heard the press of a button on the remote, and heard one pair of footsteps faded.
"Well. That was certainly a possibility of this experiment. Just disappointing. I guess I will have to find out where you came from the old fashioned way"
I stared at my trembling hands. "Ex- Experiment?" My voice came out scratchy, as if I was yelling for way too long.
"Yes. We have been over this before, I'd hope you'd remember, it was yesterday after all." He drawled. I heard him scribbling on that clipboard he carried in. The pen suddenly paused, "How do you feel right now?"
"Head hurts." I whispered out.
"Hmm. You were much more defiant yesterday."
"I don't remember. I don't know who you even are." I responded.
The pen stopped scribbling again, "That is concerning. It's not like you can get rid of memories, you have an electric Mutation not a Telepathic one. Unless… you figured out how to tap into your neurological functions given that the brain is just electro-chemical reactions. Theoretically that would be something that you could do."
I shrugged, drawing shapes on the floor with the dust. His science talk went straight over my head. I always get distracted in class a lot, and this felt like a lecture.
"That was a smart move Denki." He said. I raised my head looking at this man who knew my name. At least I remember my own name. "But unfortunately for you, that maneuver is going to cost you. Greatly."
He pressed another button on the remote. I flinched.
"Interesting. You might not remember, but it seems like your body does." He turned and walked out of the door.
I froze on the floor, not sure what to expect. The door locked behind the man, and I was left alone again. The collar around my neck started to feel warm. It slowly increased. Oh. Oh no. It started to burn. I gasped, clawing at the contraption around my neck, choking on the sensation. I wheezed, trying to call out for help. Smoke curled around my neck as I cried out in pain. My body sparked as my electricity flickered weakly around me. Nearly unresponsive.
The heat from the collar started to fade after a minute, but the pain was still there. Every time I swallowed; I felt the burn. Blisters had formed around the collar, and it hurt to move my neck in any direction. Tears burned in the back of my eyelids, but I did not have the energy to cry. I laid back on the concrete staring at the blank ceiling, thinking.
How did I even get here? If the mean dwarf was telling me the truth, and I was part of some experiment, this was definitely something that happened against my will. Not to mention illegal. I have no memories, but I did know of the world. I know what school is, I know that I attended one at some point. I just did not know the name of the school, my teachers, peers, or friends. I had friends… Right?
He said we talked yesterday. I tapped my nails against the cold cement. He remembered our supposed conversation. I must have lost my memory, somehow. Theoretically, it is something I can do. I lifted one of my hands in front of my face, watching the sparks flicker weakly between my fingers. My mutation was only this weak when I overused it. Maybe I wiped my memories on purpose to protect someone. A friend, perhaps, or a family member.
I must have come to the conclusion that I could not escape on my own, or that I did not have the time to escape before the mind reader arrived. Not that she could read my mind anyways, but how was I supposed to know that? There is always the possibility that I ended up memoryless for no reason. Stupid.
I rubbed my eyes and wiped the tears out of them. I am nothing more than some puppet for that sick dwarf to experiment on. That was obvious by the red hot collar around my neck. A shiver ran down my spine. Man, this room is ice cold.
The next several weeks, as far as I could tell (it wasn't like they were going to be helpful enough to hang a clock on the wall), were hell. To be called a puppet in the experiments was not a totally accurate description. A better one would be a weapon. They turned me into a weapon.
That night, they gave me a butter sandwich and a glass of water for supper. An attendant, or at least someone in scrubs, placed it in the room for me to have.
"Why thank you." My voice scratched out, "A meal fit for a king!"
The cell door slammed behind them. Alone again. I drank the water slowly. It felt like heaven. Small sips remember, the body absorbs more water that way. I ate slowly too, hoping that maybe since I don't have my memories they will leave me alone for a while. I had no interest in repeating the burning collar of death, so helpfully dubbed by myself.
I do not remember falling asleep, but I very much remember the cell door banging open, as the dwarf man walked in. In his tow was another attendant dragging another collared Mutant. This Mutant looked like a normal woman, with long unwashed dark brown hair.
"Good morning." The dwarf stated, "Today's experiment is to see if you can actually block other Mutants' powers." He clicked the remote, and the blue light disappeared from her neck. "Hover."
She sighed, but took off her shirt.
"Woah!" I quickly turned my back. I heard a sound like a very large hummingbird taking off.
"Turn around Denki, and stop her from flying."
"I am NOT turning around. I am not going to perv on her!" I crossed my arms across my chest.
"If you don't do as I say, I will activate your collar." the dwarf said in a bored tone.
I turned back around slowly, eyes trained to the floor. Her feet were a few inches off the ground. Wait, how? I glanced up and saw wings, like an insect coming out of her back, blurring with effort. I saw why the shirt would get in the way. Thankfully, she was wearing a bra.
Okay, think. They wanted to have me 'stop' her Mutation using electricity of course. There was a frequency that blocked Mutations, not that I know what the frequency is. I bet the collar does. I walked up to her, looking straight in her eyes, thank you very much. I tapped the collar activating it. Her wings seemed to stop and glue right onto her shoulders, turning into tattoos. She dropped an inch down to the ground and landed on her feet.
"Ta-da" I deadpanned. She pressed her lips together, seemingly holding back a smile. The dwarf sighed, writing down on his clipboard. He clicked the remote, and her collar opened up and fell to the floor. The attendant came and picked it up.
"Again." The dwarf said sharply. Well, shit.
