An: I'll be using canon characters and locations only. If you never heard of them, search on Wiki and I promise you they would appear. Doesn't matter whether they came from anime, LN, manga, spin-offs, or even the game. So yes, be prepared.
If I actually added some OC or new places to fill some plotholes, I would let you know. Cause as I mention in my previous writing, the geography of konosuba is pretty much close to zero. Not exactly, but close enough... Yes, that Intermediate is an OC.
The Sinner
The Sin of Greed.
Widely known as the most hazardous sin, by its title as the embodiment of desire. Unlike other sins, it embodies every single type of yearning. It doesn't matter what sort of aspect the sinner craves, this sin would arise, fueling the sinner to crave and pursue for what they yearn for. No matter what sort of methods they use.
Of all sins, Greed is one of the sins that held the most depravities. It could encompass almost all desires a person possessed. In that one term, literally, any desire could be linked to this sin. Although most people would associate it with materialism, that's just a shallow way to view it.
Greed. In its essence, is desires. To have what one's desires. To act according to what one covets and possesses. Even if it costs them everything.
Even if it costs their lives.
Gradually opening his eyes, Kazuma found himself in some sort of room. A wood ceiling greeted him, with the same material used for the room's walls. It gave off a cosy atmosphere within the room.
Blinking to adjust to the light level in the room, Kazuma looks around in perplexion. Trying to recall what caused this current spectacle. A moment later, he lets out an 'Ah!' in realization.
His memory turned blurry when he went to recall the event after he charged toward the Adventurer, but other than that, he could still conclude the event. Kazuma looked at his hand, which he remembered was embedded by a shard of glass, was healed. Immaculately, even.
'Healed and leave no scars nonetheless. Huh, I almost forgot that I now live in a fantasy world. A fantasy-themed world, precisely.'
Kazuma was impressed. For his hand to be healed so thoroughly. He tried moving the hand in multiple ways, and found no issue in doing so. Not even a single discomfort.
"Amazing..."
His shallow experience still hasn't been used to this sort of thing. Kazuma could only sigh and wondered in amazement every time he witness some sort of mystical occurrence like this. Maybe there would be a time when he could treat it as an everyday thing.
His mind assumed spontaneously, but when doing so, it subconsciously tried to recall things. And it did.
"Ah! My eye!"
It didn't necessarily have to be covered, as Kazuma saw that people merely looked at him strangely when he wasn't aware of this change. But to avoid any weird conclusions from the mass, like that child who called him a devil, Kazuma, for caution, decided to not let others know about it. Besides, Aqua was quite terrified of it, for some reason.
Thankfully, when he went to touch his right eye, a leather-based eye patch was what he sense.
Letting out a relieved sigh, Kazuma stood up from the bed. He was unconsciously curious about what materials were used for the bed to be so soft in this world. Maybe it used magic...?
Kazuma shook his head at the superfluous thought. He then strides to the only light source in the room, which was the window, intending to spectate the scenery outside.
For some reason, a sense of excitement arises as he looks at the spectacle below. He could see a mage, with her robe and witch hat. A thief, conspicuous with his thief-like outfit. A tank, with heavy armour on his body and a shield strapped onto his back. A warrior, equipping light armour and shoulder pads, with a sword sheathed on his belt.
"Ah, Kazuma! You're awake!"
A sudden voice disrupts his sight-viewing. Kazuma turned around and found Aqua, who was in front of the door, her noticeably bright complexion makes him quite confused. He raised his inconspicuous eyebrow.
"What has gotten you into such a good mood?"
"Your awakening of course!"
Aqua placed a pouch on the table beside the bed as she walks up to him, showing a bright expression. Kazuma take a look at the pouch but he was more focused on Aqua. Who, for the first time since he met her, finally showed a positive attitude towards him.
"Kazuma, do you have any idea how cool you looked when you tumbled down that Adventurer in seconds?! I didn't know you could do such a brave thing!"
Hearing her admiring words, Kazuma recalls the culprit.
The Sin of Greed.
While those thoughts were quite unnerving, they pushed him, no, precisely, they forced him to move. Move according to what he desired. But looking at the situation back then, Kazuma felt really thankful for it. Maybe he could pull it off without it, but it surely wouldn't cause as much effect as when he was forced by it. After all, back then, he was actually very fearful, facing a full-fledged warrior whose strength far surpassed his.
So without the forceful nature of those thoughts, he would probably be unsuccessful.
'The Sin of Greed...'
Kazuma couldn't decide whether it was a marvel or a disaster. That light, and probably many people, would say it was the latter, as it was a sin. By his punishment, nonetheless. But he can't really define it that way, since it was capable of coercing his body to move with such force by its will. Objectively, it would be a life saver in case Kazuma was in danger. Objectively, too, it would force him into doing something he would rather not do, causing circumstances resulting in trouble.
'...Let's hope such an assumption wouldn't occur.'
'...It will, probably.'
As much as he hates to jinx himself, that's what always happens!
"And do you know how much Eris that pouch contained? It was over 100,000 Eris! Kazuma! We're saved!"
"Huh?"
Kazuma snaps his head to the pouch that innocently lay on the table. That much?!
He doesn't know precisely how much that was, but if the registry alone cost over 1,000 Eris each person, then 100,000 Eris must be a lot of money, right?!
"If we compared Eris to the currency that was used in your environment you used to live in, it would be the same! Yen, was it? Whatever it was, they have the same value!"
"Huh, you knew that?"
"Hmph! Of course!"
Still excited by the ordeal, Aqua then showed Kazuma a big, genuine smile, stunning him momentarily. Although flawless physically, Aqua always showed him adverse attitudes this entire time. So when she showed him such an attitude for the first time, Kazuma couldn't help but feel a little flutter in his stomach.
"Kazuma, I, Aqua, the Goddess of Water, thank you very much for your support back then. I-I cannot imagine what would happen to me if you didn't."
At the end of her sentence, Aqua didn't hide her fear, looking down in pure terror.
She discovered. That the Mortal World is so horrifying. It was filled with many evildoers, sinners, and fiends. They were like devils in human skins, uncared about others and corrupted beyond help.
Unfortunately for her, she merely witnessed one of the insurmountable evil deeds filled in what she called "A Mortal World". A world where orders were established to cover its truest part. The part that truly describes this forsaken, hopeless world.
Without realizing it, she started to tremble, with tears threatening to burst out, trying to accept the fact that from now on, she will live in such a horrid place. But when Aqua almost breaks down, she feels a pair of warm hands cupping her shoulders, with a shadow cast over her face. She looks up and saw Kazuma, who showed his scepticism in his sole eye.
With a slight smile, he said a simple statement.
"You're welcome."
Looking at his solacing demeanour, A qua feels it again. That sense of dependence towards this person before her. But different from before, she wholeheartedly accepts it. Keeping it within the deep of her heart. Not an ounce of rejection she edges towards this feeling. Especially since she saw how much extent he had done just to get her out of that trouble.
Even if they were all excluded, in the first place, Kazuma is the only person Aqua could call an acquaintance in this world.
"Oh, by the way, since we have enough money, let's register."
"U-Umm... w-well..."
Looking at the nervous Aqua, a foreboding feeling arise within his heart.
"Y-You see, I... used all the money."
A slight pang in his heart. Kazuma inwardly grimaces.
"...So that pouch is empty?"
Asking her a rhetorical question, Kazuma blankly look at Aqua, who refused to meet his gaze. She then stiffly walked to the table and picked up the pouch. She apprehensively turned it upside down, wanting to see if there are any leftovers, in a futile attempt to redeem herself.
Surprisingly, a gold coin came out.
"Huh, a gold coin?"
Is this the current form of currency of this world?
"Well! A gold coin in this world is worth 10,000 Eris. Huh, thankfully, there's a gold coin I forgot when I drink..."
"...You what?"
Despite her attempt to remain unapparent by altering her tone to a mumble in her second sentence, she miscalculated her voice volume. After all, she wasn't really good at this. So Aqua could only turn around to face her impending doom.
"Hoh, so, Aqua, you used the only money that we had, that I stole from an Intermediate Adventurer by almost killing him off, and probably already die by now, to drink? Good, very good! I am so instilled by this!"
The whole time, he was holding back his annoyance toward this woman because they were in public. Kazuma won't deny that her perfection and flawlessness in physicality were a factor too in his attitude towards her. A factor strong enough to overlook her irritating attitudes.
But she crossed the line!
"W-Wait-"
"Do you have any idea, that this thing, this pouch, that I stole from that son of a b*tch, contains my whole net worth? Do you have any idea, how nerve-wracking it was for me, a frail little sh*t, to receive our first stepping stone towards our goal of beating a literal Demon King? It was by staining my hand with blood to fight someone else! Because of you, who was so damn clueless!"
He tried so hard to be calm, he truly did. But as a hot-blooded teenager, it was already impressive enough for him to hold on to this point.
"And you know what makes it more unbelievable?! It's the fact that I actually underestimated you in this aspect! Holy sh*t Aqua! F*ck! What the f*ck?! How could you be so damn clueless to spend the only thing that we possess, that we could use for so many other things, to drink?! Are you stupid?! Are you dumb?! Aqua! Please! Why are you so f*cking mindless?!"
"B-But as a Goddess-"
"Goddess this! Goddess that! Goddess my damned a*s! Aqua, let me tell you something that clueless, empty head of yours hasn't realized yet. We are nothing! Zero, valueless! We are trash, who possessed absolutely nothing in this world! You and I are equal to that of beggars in terms of net worth, you hear me?!"
"B-Beggars?!"
By now, Aqua is already crying, curling up on the bed. But Kazuma is so fed up with her cluelessness. It's not innocence, it's mindlessness!
"Yes, beggars! Without this pouch that your dumb a*s used for damned drinks, we possessed nothing. Other than the clothes on our bodies, we are nothing! Trash!"
It hurts Kazuma too, but he has to acknowledge that fact. Right now, he is pretty much a drifter. Who has no home, money or valuables. It was already bad enough, but then someone decided to actually use the only thing he could call money in his possession, for drinks.
Drinks!
"Please! Why can't you use the brain those damned Divinities provided you?! I don't ask much! Just use your functional organs, specifically in the head, according to what they are used for! Why it is so difficult for you to comply with such a simple task?!"
"I-I'm sworry! Waah!"
At last, she stuffed her face with the mattress, muttering "sorry" continuously with sobs coming out in between. She can't handle the harsh scoldings he gave her, as a Goddess who always stood above all, so a mental breakdown occurred.
Looking at this pathetic Goddess, Kazuma can't really be mad any longer, so he just snatched the gold coin and plugged it into his pocket. He stabilised his breaths and tried to rationalize himself, which proved to be quite difficult, as a mere teenager at sixteen.
Fortunately, he managed to calm himself down.
"...Hey Aqua?"
"W-W-What?"
Still sobbing, she lifted her head and showed him her snotty face.
Staring at her grievance state, Kazuma did feel a little bit sympathetic, yet, the irritation hasn't dissipated yet. He could only sigh inwardly.
'No matter what, she's the only colleague I have in this world.'
His conscience couldn't really let this girl, Goddess title put aside, go on her own. With the previous incident, he could imagine what sort of things would happen to her. Clueless, stupid, dumb and obnoxious, stuffed into a physically flawless body. Many bastards out there would hound her and she could do nothing about it. Based on what she's done, which is screeching, in the previous incident.
And it's not like he could either.
His instinct told him that this Sin of Greed would act up if he did. After all, it forced him to move after its numerous warning through thoughts when Aqua was held up.
Kazuma sighed once again.
"Let's just go and register ourselves."
"...A-Alright."
He took in a heavy breath, it was like a habit now. It makes him calm, and good and it was a way to vent his irritation too!
What a great activity.
"And I'm sorry!"
"Yes, yes, you're forgiven."
Aqua lets out a sigh of relief, still sobbing from her previous mental breakdown. He took a look at her before opening the door.
"Oh yeah, where are we now?"
"An inn."
"...Wait, how long it has been since I passed out?"
"Hmm... the sun went down once."
Kazuma blankly looked at Aqua before discerning the content of her statement.
"A day? Huh, that's quick."
"Ah, yes! A day, I meant!"
After they went out of the room, Kazuma locked the door and picked up the key, tossing it to Aqua, who stumbled slightly to catch it. She whines about it but he went down the stairs anyway, intending to leave as soon as possible. As he arrived on the base floor, he could see a counter table beside the exit. There was a black-haired staff member in a uniform behind it.
"Ah, Sir, what may I help you with?"
"We wanted to check out."
"Guh! Hah, Kazuma, wait for me, would ya?!"
Aqua arrived beside him, placing her hands on her knees while panting in weariness. The staff member stared at her for a moment before reverting her gaze to Kazuma, who glanced at Aqua in annoyance.
"Have you ever exercised?"
"L-Like you did!"
"Anyway, Sir, it would be 5,000 Eris."
He has an urge to complain but thinking about it, it was quite reasonable. At last, he just nodded at the staff member and bring out the gold coin. The staff member nodded formally, grabbing the gold coin and giving him five silver coins as changes
"This...?"
"5,000 Eris, Sir."
"Ah..."
Kazuma exclaimed in surprise, staring at five silver coins in interest. The staff member just looked at him strangely. Nonetheless, she formally bowed.
"Thank you for occupying our beloved inn!"
"Y-Yeah, you're welcome."
"Hah! Did you just stutter-"
Before Aqua could utter a silly remark, Kazuma snatched the key in her hand and placed it on the table. He dragged her with him, coming out to the busy street of Axel. It seems like the sun was on its way to the peak, with many villagers and adventurers shown by the bustling crowd, walking and minding their own business respectively. He looks around, vigour filling his soul.
"Aqua! Tell me where the Guild Hall is!"
"Hmph! Just follow me!"
"Huh, you're surprisingly accurate."
"Stop doubting me, damn it!"
"Impossible."
Like yesterday, Aqua energetically opened up the gate of the hall, revealing the content of the Guild Hall, with its usual cosy and lively atmosphere. But this time, they immediately went to the receptionist's table, where Luna was treating her customers.
Of course, by the sudden sound of the opened gates, the guild members subconsciously turned their heads. And when they saw the main attractor of yesterday's event, they went wild.
"It's them! The Silent Newbie and his Goddess-like companion!"
"Imagine being capable of defeating an Intermediate as a non-Adventurer with a shard of glass!"
"No, it's more like "Imagine being defeated by a non-Adventurer in two seconds as a veteran Adventurer"!"
"Hahah! Good one mate!"
"Good job for yesterday's event Kid! Damn! If only I could see that dumba*s's face while getting beaten up by a newbie! That Leonfart!"
"F*ck! I'm so unlucky to miss out on such a god-like scene!"
"Oi, Kid! Come on, tell us the epic chronology of the Extermination of the Son of a B*tch! I'm dying from excitement and curiosity, ya know!"
"Wait, that's how it was called?! Wow, it's like the subject wasn't even a human, but a pig!"
"Pretty much..."
"Meticulous!"
"I know right?!"
Well, Kazuma intended to go straight up to Luna. But hearing the guild members' bickerings and giggles, he was left stunned.
'This...?'
"Shush! We wanted to register first!"
Surprisingly, Aqua took charge and exclaimed out loud in a pompous tone, putting her hands on her hips, looking upon the guild members with grace. The guild members look at her in reverence and complied.
"Alright! Alright, if you say so, "Goddess"!"
"Don't forget to tell us though!"
Nodding in appreciation at their understanding manner, Aqua dragged the stunned Kazuma with her to the receptionist's table, where Luna was waiting for them, her anticipation glistening in her eyes.
"Welcome Aqua and Kazuma, you wanted to register, right?"
"Huh, you knew our name?"
Aqua blinked, staring at Luna strangely. Luna vigorously nodded, showing them a soft smile.
"From an acquaintance. And mind if I ask Kazuma-san, but why is your eye covered by an eye patch?"
"He has a curse. By being an annoying guy, his eye was cursed. It took a form he thought was weird, and from there, he covered it."
Aqua took advantage of his current state and answered for him, mischievously grinning at Luna while rubbing her hands suspiciously. Luna looked at her strangely.
"Anyway, it seems like we caused quite a ruckus by yesterday's event. May I ask why?"
In a second, Aqua changed her attitudes. Again, Luna looked at her strangely. Regardless, she answered her.
"You both might not know this, but Leonhart always "visited" our Guild Hall. He was a tyrant, son of a b*tch of a mongrel who assert his superiority over the beginners, despite being an Intermediate. Always ruining the comfortable atmosphere of this place, yet we can't do anything about it, because he was an Intermediate. So I wanted to thank you, on behalf of the whole members of Axel's Guild Hall."
"Hm, of course, you are welcome!"
"Why didn't you just gang up on him?"
Kazuma, who was stunned, suddenly woke up and looked at Luna in confusion. Aqua too, stared at her in a questioning manner, from her previous graceful demeanour. Finally deciding to ignore the two's weird tendencies, Luna smoothly continued.
"As an Intermediate who had advanced his class once, Leonhart evolved his Warrior class to a Berserker. Berserker is a class famous for its ferocity in group fights. People who choose this class tend to advance at a rapid pace because, for every opponent that appeared on their radar, their power would increase by half! Of course, it could only be activated once they met at least two opponents and had immense backlashes. Unfortunately for that son of a b*tch, he foolishly picked a fight in one-on-one while being completely defenceless. Hah, f*cking dumba*s!"
"Also, Guild Members, no matter where, are not allowed to murder each other. Of course, as long as no one found out, it wouldn't be a problem... But that f*cktard always visited us openly."
When she mentioned that guy, Luna has so much hatred in her tone. In this Guild Hall, she was revered as the Guild Lady, who newcomers would meet for the first time. She was second only to the owner himself, who truthfully was a Governor from the capital. Nonetheless, every member respects her and with her easy-going attitude, they regard her even more.
And seeing a mongrel ruining this place she took care of, how could she not despise him? Coming in and out as if owning the place, treating the people with no respect!
"Yeah, f*ck that guy!"
Aqua, who became the direct victim, cussed him out from the depth of her heart. Kazuma, the main contributor to the "Son of a B*tch"s extermination could only watch from the sideline as they cursed. Tilting his head in understanding. Not completely, but he tried to empathize.
"Yeah, anyway, can you register us?"
"O-Oh, ehem, sorry for my imprudence. Of course, Kazuma-san."
As expected of a seasoned receptionist, Luna could change her attitude in seconds.
After replying to him, Luna bent over and bring out two sheets of paper, filled with what seemed like forms. Above the sheets were two cards, similar to a driver's licence in size, filled with foreign characters. Though Kazuma was surprisingly capable of comprehending them all, his experience and knowledge were mismatched, so it creates a quite confusing state of mind within his head.
'Damned Aqua, she didn't tell me this!'
"Here, fill up these forms. If you're done, all you have to do is to touch these cards with your hands."
"Which part?" Aqua cluelessly asked.
"Any part."
Nodding, both of them went to fill up the forms-
"Hey, Kazuma. I wonder what would happen if I touch the card without filling up the forms?"
"Your intelligence would decrease very significantly."
"Eek! How did you know?!"
"Fortunately for you, it wouldn't cause any effect at all."
"Hmph! Of course, as I expected!"
He merely gives her a blank glance before focusing on the form. Using the "pen" provided by Luna.

"Are you stupid? Your hair is auburn and your eyes are green, you fool! Height: 5'5? Height: 5'5 my a*s! I just reached your ears! I'm not that short!"
"Hey, don't look at others' forms! And you don't know that- Wait..."
Kazuma was simultaneously checking his body and memory as she chattered but he paused.
...Huh.
"Since when?" He murmured, looking quite lost.
It is possible to completely not realise one's changes?
Kazuma blamed that sh*tty divinity.
"Come on! Fill your form, stupid!"
"Just gives it to her and receive yours, why wait for me?"
"I can't wait to compare your insignificant existence with my superior one."
"...B*tch."
"As*hole."
"Aren't you so "Goddess"ly?"
"Aren't you so smart?"
"Since when did I say that?"
"Ehem, not to interrupt your "conversations" but did you fill them up already?"
Luna suddenly interfered with a cough, looking upon the forms which Kazuma covered with his arm and Aqua placed on her chest. They glanced at her and shook their heads in sync.
"I need to change a couple of things. Can I get a tip-x?"
"The hell's a tip-x?"
"Your empty head couldn't comprehend it, I promise."
"You're so annoying!"
"Thank you very much."
Kazuma looks at her in irritation, giving his form to Luna, who blankly grabbed it. Aqua, seeing his action immediately followed the suit, forcibly placing her form in the same hand Luna grabbed Kazuma's with.

Luna could only accept these forms, specifically Aqua's, in wholeheartedness. She shoot a look at Aqua who was glancing at Kazuma like a kid who wants revenge. Then she glanced at Kazuma, who gives her a shaking head. He knew what sort of things Aqua filled in her forms, as he took a peek, so he could only give Luna a gesture full of "don't" when she gave him that look.
"...O-Okay, then, please place your hands upon these cards."
Immediately after Luna said that, Aqua shoot her hand towards the card like a bullet, clearly looking forward to the result, from her glimmering eyes. Kazuma too, is excited, placing his hand with a bit of expectancy filled in his action.
Though expectations are often disappointing, it's not like he could completely prevent a subconscious phenomenon.
The cards shine. And without their realization, the guild members leaned over, curious about the results. Luna, seeing their tendency preferred to dismiss them but she can't deny that she too was curious. So for now, she let them go. She too, was looking upon their cards in curiosity.
As the light gradually dimmed down in slow motion, Luna began to explain.
"See the "Level" at the top left? Perhaps you already heard the gist of it from the locals but allow me to explain the functions of this card. You see, the level is a term used by this card corresponding to the number of experience points, which you can increase by adventuring and doing quests. You could receive it by absorbing too, by taking a fraction of souls from any form by eating forms, which the number of experience points you receive according to how powerful the forms were when they were alive. Or you could get it just by killing forms, though the experience points would decrease. But be careful! A certain amount of regulations have to be fulfilled if you want to kill a human! And it is forbidden to eat one!"
Luna shoot a glance at Kazuma, who blinked.
"Hey, I won't eat one-"
"You probably will-"
"And you might ask, what is this "Level" for? Well, level brings many benefits if you increase them. It could drastically increase your proficiencies in many aspects! Such as strength, intelligence, agility and stamina. There are skill points too! Which you could use to learn a certain set of skills from classes. Depending on which class you choose. And from there, for every 20 levels you accumulated, you will be recommended to advance your class. Of course, there were special cases where they could advance their class even when they were level 1! By the amount of stats that they naturally possessed."
By the end of her explanation, the process of engraving their information upon the cards was almost finished, as they could distinguish the words behind the glimmering, dimming light.
Kazuma slightly gaped while Aqua stared in enthusiasm.
"This card will show how many forms you've killed on its top right. It will absorb a fraction of the forms' souls and engrave them in this section. We, staff members of the Guild Hall, will look upon this thoroughly to confirm your quests in case it was a combat-related one. Depending on the quests, too! So now-Adventurers, please work hard and contribute!"
Finally, the shining light was extinguished, showing Kazuma and Aqua the stats on their cards respectively. Of course, the first ones to see them were the owners.
Aqua/Lvl 1/-[Options]

"Hahaahh! I could tell that this is amazing! Kazuma, accept your defeat and your insignificance!"
"...Are you sure, Aqua?" Kazuma replied back, glancing at her casually.
Although he was blank outside, inside, it was a completely different story. He was hectic, looking at his stats. It feels like a dream, where positive expectations were on point. Finally, for the first time in who knows how long, positive expectations were fulfilled!

...
...Yeah, he was hectic, except for this one thing, written incomprehensibly. Yet he could clearly read it.
Kazuma's sole eye turned solemn.
"U-Um... C-can I see your stats? I can give you guidance to select classes that were perfect for your stats!"
Provoked by her intense curiosity, Luna stammered, looking at Kazuma and Aqua who were checking out their cards. One filled with enthusiasm, while the other one intently focused on observing his card.
"Hmph, of course! Here! Let me show you what this Goddess capable of!"
"O-Oh my Eris!"
"What it is, Luna-san?!"
The guild members too, cannot contain their curiosity any longer. They grouped behind Luna and looked at Aqua's card in excitement. And when they saw it, they lost it.
"A miracle!!"
"A candidate to be the Demon King's equal!"
"Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah-Ahmazing! God's gracious, we've been blessed by Eris!"
"A natural Arch-priest! Possibly the Saintess that appeared only in legends!!!"
"Luna-san, shall we prepare for the party tonight!?"
"...Bring out the neroid barrels!"
"Wohoooo!!!"
"Haahahahah! Hmph, hmph, it's normal by my standard, of course!"
Amidst the commotion, a lone figure emerged. It's Kazuma.
His sole eye revealed bleakness.
'...A sinner, huh?'
'A sinner, indeed.'
