An Order Restorer
"Eh? You're back?"
The idle Megumin who bored around with her staff had her eyes lit up when a familiar auburn hair greets her view. From the look of it, it seems like her Leader did not disappoint her, looking at the slight smirk on his face. The one that exhibits confidence.
Behind him, a red-faced Chris follow after him, grasping something tightly with her right hand, while the other one keep twisting her shorts, as if she was scared they would fall. Megumin could only raise an eyebrow.
"What happened?"
"Well, aren't you curious?"
Kazuma adorned an evil smile on his face, glancing at his victim behind him with a grin, "Heh, if you have more challenges to give, then by all means, do allow me to know, heh."
Hearing his double ridicule laugh, the thief could only huff in anger, walking away like a duckling, trying to keep her legs together. It looks quite comical for the onlookers, who'd known her as the aloof thief. A thief that was known for her immaculate and impeccable expertise in thievery and scouting.
Hell, she's somehow capable of finding dungeons earlier than even the Guild itself! In fact, most information the Guild possessed was sourced from her. That's why other members held her in high regard. Even the Guild Head doesn't dare to treat her wrongly.
"Tell me, what happened?"
Megumin asked Kazuma again, now lacing with curiosity. She was expecting that with Kazuma's incredulous abilities, Chris does not stand a chance in the bet. That's her belief, her utmost confidence in her leader's abilities.
After all, she doubts that someone could kill a High-level Troll as a two-days Adventurer other than him. Even some of her legendary ancestors weren't that exaggerated! And there's no need to mention his intelligence.
It's the main reason she was eager to party up with him, after all.
Kazuma strode closer towards her and started to explain, "Basically, we bet based on a spell and determined the winner by the value of the things that I could get with the said spell when I used it on Chris. If you want, I'll do some demonstration."
"Please!"
After receiving Megumin's permission, Kazuma prepared to present her the demonstration of the thing she wanna know. Palm bloomed, with arm lifted and pointed towards her, who stood before him.
And then, a light manifested itself.
The legendary spell that could only be used by lucky thief-class Adventurers.
'Steal.'
Kazuma closed his eyes, showing utmost solemnity. Not noticing the way his companion widened her eyes.
A sucking feeling could be felt on his hand. Right after, an... oddly familiar feeling of softness and smell appeared. Noticing that, a subconscious conclusion formed itself within his head and with that in mind, Kazuma absurdly lifted his head.
'Oh come on...'
In his hand, is a pair of tender black panties.
Noticing this, he grimaced, 'You can't be serious. How could the valuable with the most mana density in Megumin's possession is this thing?!'
It doesn't make any sense!
Ignoring the certain smell that assaulted his nose, he hesitantly lifted his gaze to look at the Crimson Demon, who had her eyes covered by her huge hat. He tried to clarify, but what comes next stuck his words in his throat, "I-If Kazuma wanted i-it, w-we could go to a room t-together..."
He could see that under that huge hat, a pair of large, glowing, glistening crimson eyes were peeking from there. They are excessively tempting and combined with her meek words, such temptation was testing his patience and willpower whether he would succumb to it or not...
'Gugh...'
Being exposed to such gaze and words, it would undoubtedly flare up.
'Huehuehue, such a tasty and obedient Demon Variant. Yours truly's Sinner, thou shalt possessed her domineeringly-'
Thankfully, with the upgraded skill, he could control it now. At least, he was capable of suppressing it to his will. Still, 'Fuck, can't you at least be more mindful?'
'What's there to be mindful about? Clearly, this Demon Variant feigned obedience for yours truly's Sinner. Yours truly's Sinner doesn't have to be hesitant about possessing this fine specimen completely-'
Kazuma can't handle this blabbering nonsense anymore. Instead, he should be focusing on the current matter.
"Cough, hm, I apologize. Seems like this skill is truly randomised."
It's been a while since Kazuma felt this flustered. The current situation was different from before, when he used it on Chris. Prior, Chris was too insufferable. Cheating in the broad daylight shamelessly. No, it could be said that the result of what he got from the Steal skill makes everything better.
But this? This is... a little bit too much. Megumin didn't really do anything wrong since they met. Really. But then this happened.
Instead of a sense of satisfaction and pleasure, he could only feel shame and embarrassment.
Worse, the Sin of Greed always had its eyes on her. As a 'helpful' and 'commendable' Sin for its Sinner, of course, it would kindly remind him to take advantage of what happened and with utmost sincerity, it was prepared to shove its Sinner into the canyon of depravity and pleasure.
'Keke, copulate with this Demon Variant, as for yours truly's Sinner, it is only right for yours truly's Sinner to possess some ripe, breedable Demon Variant-'
And Kazuma, as a polite young man, would undoubtedly refute in utter politeness-
'Fuck off you-'
"E-Errr... w-what did I just say by now? A-Anyway, hmph... w-what's this? Stealing m-my panties? D-Did that thief teach you perverted skills...?"
Absurdly, the Crimson Demon lowered the tip of her hat, covering her flustered appearance. Her other hand unconsciously grasped the hem of her skirt, feeling uncomfortably cold and transparent. The gaze of her beloved companion seems to make the whole thing even more unbearable and confidentially, exciting.
Not that she would notice it.
Unnoticed by her, a shiver went through her spine.
After the occasion, Kazuma hastily gives what rightfully Megumin's after the latter shyly asked for it. Fortunately, his companion seems to accept his reasons easily, listening to the softness that her tone held.
In the first place, it was to be expected. For a person to witness someone who was almost over the boundary between life and death solely for their well-being, Megumin held a biased opinion when it comes to Kazuma. For a lonely Adventurer like her, the feeling was unavoidably addicting.
What she expected to be a mere fairy tale actually came true. From that accident, Megumin understood why people seem to obsess with these notions. Indeed, the experience is too addicting!
With her experience towards this nonsensical, stupid world, the feeling was intensified exponentially. Like falling into a pit of elation after experiencing insurmountable exhaustion.
The feeling couldn't be imagined.
She stared up at the back of her leader, who was walking towards the receptionist's table. Unnoticeably, an insignificant, strange symbol below her belly button moved.
Megumin noticed a sense of warmth and an inexplicable feeling from her belly, but thought that it was just those moments when her body warmed up randomly, so she just brushed it off. She needs to find a restroom too, to put on her previously stolen panties.
With a flustered appearance, she retreated to the backroom. The guild members who saw it looked at each other in confusion and expectation.
"I wonder what the legendary newbie had done to that infamous Crimson Demon?"
"Heheh, my man, isn't it obvious? He had advanced towards her!"
"Damn! What a brave, admirable young man! I'm rooting for him!"
At the same time, the covered eye of Kazuma shined below the eye patch. Initiating a strange pulse from his eye. The Sinner blinked his sole exposed green eye, but decided not to think too thoroughly.
Probably one of those strange moments where his body randomly pulsed.
He strides over and at the corner of his eyes, he could see Chris at the barstool, taking shot after shot of Crimson Neroid. He was amused to catch a glimpse of her peeved face.
After a short waiting, the previous staff member emerged from the indistinct stairs, with a plain, normal look adorning her pretty face.
"Kazuma-san, Mistress has permitted you to talk with her. You may take the stairs and meet her at the Guild Master room."
Nodding affirmatively, Kazuma briefly thanked the staff member before taking the stairs. It was narrow, unlike the stairs used by the public. Located behind the receptionist's table, making it indistinct by the lack of light that reached it.
After taking the stairs, Kazuma looked around, puzzled. It was somewhat like a hallway, albeit small, with plain cream, wood walls. Interiorly speaking, it was plain and boring. However, there was a door, embedded with numerous strange stones and seemingly sculpted to perfection, with its numerous, insurmountable yet immaculate motives on its woody surface.
"Come in!"
A feminine voice called out from behind the door, and oddly, without hesitation, Kazuma slowly opened the door. His heart held no caution towards the unknown behind the door, making him confused.
"The newly recruited Adventurer Satou Kazuma, I believe?"
It was a medium-sized room, similar to a principal room back at his school in comparison. With shiny embroidered walls as ostensively ornate decorations by its exaggerated amount and over-complexity in its motives.
However, it was somehow made a strange impression because of how the room was only occupied by a seemingly simple pair of desk and chair in its middle, with racks behind them filled to the brim with numerous documents and chests with golden trims as outlines that were lined up at the side of the desk. The massive windows behind them ornamented with red curtains were the only source of light here, illuminating the figure who attracted his attention the most.
"...Heh, I know I look drop-dead gorgeous, but do be considerate of my self-consciousness."
His green eyes faltered a bit, but his overall reaction is mid. Aqua was the embodiment of perfection, putting aside her tendencies. And Megumin was on the verge of giving him sugar-related disease by her excessive looks alone. Still, beauties are created to be appreciated, and Kazuma does enjoy them.
A curvaceous woman was what revealed in the room, wearing a simple pair of grey shorts and a black, tight bandeau that spilt her somewhat excessive chest, proudly exposing much of her unblemished, fair skin. Her feline, yellow eyes were mischievous, with raven hair trickled freely, reaching her middle back while simultaneously framing her mature, grinning face. She seemed to be in casual attire.
"Pretty sure you accepted my request, resulting in acknowledgement of my appearance. No need to feign."
The so-called Mistress reacted rather provocatively, smirking indignantly, showing him her canine teeth, "Oh, seemed like I was spot on in measuring your standard."
"Indeed. Surrounded by excessive girls, while somewhat difficult, does give off some unintended benefits."
Kazuma responded casually, with thoughts surging from his brain to face off this current predicament correctly. A mischievous character with high standing in an organization emits a rather popular trope. It could be that she was a naturally charming person, or a ridiculously powerful being who unintentionally kept powerful enemies and monsters at bay.
His sole green eye got deeper, something that the woman noticed. She wasn't offended in the slightest, however. Instead, her smirk only turned wider.
Kazuma admits, this woman was truly a natural charmer.
"A very impressive attainment for a two-days adventurer, huh?"
Silent descended. He remains unmoved and the woman before him just provocatively raises her legs to the table, showing him her delicate feet. Looking absolutely carefree.
...
"Do you know Satou Kazuma, how suspicious of a being like you, who was supposedly a newbie, to have the capability of killing an Intermediate Adventurer in one-on-one combat before even becoming an Adventurer?"
"...It was achieved by some factors that somehow intertwined with each other, not by pure strength or any other orthodox means."
The playful atmosphere deterred a bit, but it was still noticeable. However, Kazuma noticed a little bit of edge in her tone.
"It counts. Also, an adventurer-class holder who achieved Level 12 on his first quest, killing over 46 Giant Frogs with some borrowed sword. And you were supposed to be a newbie when your name was attached to such an achievement? That you received on your first quest?"
(sorry for interrupting, but yeah I change the reward in chapter 4.)
He was brainstorming himself when exposed to such a question. What to answer, what to decide, what to countermeasures what to solve...
Undoubtedly, his miffed look was noticed by his counterpart.
"The poor girl that attended you last night was hypervilenting, you know? Rushing to my place like a girl possessed. It was quite funny though, but still... How will you answer this confusion of mine, O' Newbie?"
Multiple, countless answers with their results and possibilities, yet when seeing the current predicament, Kazuma felt a surge of confidence when discovering this peculiar answer. A very stupid one, but the one who wouldn't provoke any suspicion from this figure before him.
She was also the Guild Mistress, so it was akin to hitting two birds with one stone.
"Would you believe me if I said I was blessed by the Goddess herself?"
"Chronically, maybe. Logically, however?" The Guild Mistress took a thinking posture and exaggeratedly tilted her head. Her peaceful yellow eyes stared straight at him, conveying, testing, and of course, Kazuma gladly took the message.
"You know that blue-themed woman I took as my companion right?"
"Uh-uh."
"She's a Goddess."
Her motion paused, blankly staring at the person before her.
"...Satou Kazuma, you do know what sort of weight the term 'Goddess' held in this town, right?"
"Obviously."
"And so, do answer this question more appropriately."
"But it's true."
A momentary silence prevailed. The sole green eye steadily stared at those beautiful, eye-catching yellow eyes of the Guild Mistress, who gradually became more and more twitchy. In the first place, he did not tell a single lie, so it was useless even if the Guild Mistress wanted to do some sort of tricks similar to Lie Detector, which he believed would be more advanced than what he knew of.
"...Strange, you did not emit an ambience of perturbation. Ah, this is giving me a headache..."
The main culprit just silently observes the distraught Guild Mistress.
"Damn... is my expertise in extorting information from culprits that formed through extreme measures turned rusty or something...?"
Somehow, his brain connected the words 'extreme measures' and 'extorting information' with torture. A shiver went through his spine and a warning bell rang in his head. It was at this moment that he began to recall a somewhat odd phenomenon when it comes to cheery, bright powerful beings.
The phenomenon where these cheery powerful beings would have hidden severe peculiarities deemed unacceptable by the norm.
'Oh, shi-'
"Now, what to do with a boy like you?"
For the first time, his sole green eye widened. It was initiated by realization, and his brain deemed it was too late to escape. Considering he had pushed it a little bit too far.
It was just an assumption. Kazuma tried to convince himself
The Guild Mistress showed a gorgeous smile, liking what she saw, "Ah, finally, that composure crumbled down. It wasn't a good thing for a handsome face to remain unmoved for a long time, you know?"
That conspicuous wide smile and a certain glint in those big, yellow eyes, combined with those canines. Yes, he knew exactly what this indicates. Kazuma subconsciously took a step back. His heart nearly stopped when the Guild Mistress abruptly raise from her chair and jumped, landing on the desk and sitting on it, her now sultry eyes remained on him the whole time.
"Do explain it to me, boy~"
"...Um, can we just resort to the topic I supposedly wanted to report?"
"Heh, catching the attention of gorgeous women like me has its consequences, you know?" The Guild Mistress shot him a sidelong glance with a smile. Her eyelashes were excessively prominent from this stance, enhancing the sight in his eyes. However, his green eye remained anchored to the ground, trying to come up with yet another countermeasure.
Because if he used the previous method, it wouldn't work. How could she believe the fact that he came from another world and was transmigrated into this world? And the fact that it was the cause of a Goddess becoming his companion?
Even he wouldn't believe it.
'A lie yet not...'
'Tsk, just say thou were entrusted with the responsibility to restore orders by the Goddess of Fortune, Eris. Show her thy demonized eye as proof. If thou were asked why the eerie contour, confess it was the price of shouldering such responsibilities to withstood what was necessary to achieve orders, which was power, as whom desire restoring orders must pay the corresponding price.'
The usually aggravating Sin of Greed suddenly suggested a pretty solid idea. Of course, bits of suspicion arise but at the current moment, Kazuma found this idea to be the best one. But it was quite... different from what he expected
'Would she really believe the fact that such an eerie eye was the indication of withstanding what was 'necessary' to achieve orders? Which sourced from a Goddess, nonetheless? And what does restoring orders even mean?'
'...Thou haven't yet gained the required power nor knowledge to understand.'
Its tone, which is usually annoying and aggravating was uncharacteristically solemn.
'Furthermore, she'll understand. Thou are too inexperienced to understand what kind of being she truly was.'
'Why would she believe it though? Can she just accuse me as some sort of demonic being solely by this eye?'
Even when the idea was plausible, it was still ambiguous whether it would go the way the plan intended or not.
'Thou are forgetting the fact that thou managed to rise from level 1 to 32 in two days. If she didn't believe thee to be an Order Restorer with this unprecedented growth alone, then she must be retarded. Moreover, a being like her who experienced many things understood that some things cannot be decided by assumptions alone and is always meticulously careful, deciding choices based on her experience.'
Although hesitant at first, Kazuma was finally convinced by the reasons the Sin of Greed exemplified. There are many things that he did not understand, but the present was more important.
"So?" The Guild Mistress who became more and more mysterious by the way the Sin of Greed interpreted her glanced at him, initiating motions of her certain parts. Kazuma momentarily closed his eyes, pondering the right way to convey the words. Finally, his sole green eye stared straight at her yellow ones.
"I... am an Order Restorer, entrusted with responsibilities by the Goddess of Fortune, Eris, to achieve order."
However, contrary to what he expected, her reaction seems off. She just tilted her head, narrowing her feline eyes to him, like a curious cat. It went on for about a minute before she inquired quizzically.
"That eye-patch... is it what I think it is, then?"
He inwardly trembled. The Sin of Greed's expectation was spot on!
"...Yes."
He voluntarily removed the eye patch, letting the so-called demonized eye be exposed to the world. It eerily dimmed, emitting a slight ambience sourced from the red dot amid its charcoal-like iris. Any human being would feel a creep slowly climbing up their skin, being stared at by such an eye.
"...The price was somewhat... heavy."
The Guild Mistress silently observed the eerie eye, taking a solemn stance. Her mischievous eyes grimly bored into the embodiment of the Sin of Greed.
"Your unusual improvement, is this the reason? The price you have to pay by accepting what was entrusted to you?"
The boy just nodded.
"Do you have any idea what sort of threat you'll face by harbouring such a thing?"
"I have the gist of it."
Even when there was no apparent pressure from her being, Kazuma instinctively felt it. The drastic changes in the air surrounding her. It felt suffocating.
"You will be hunted by the whole world. Everyone will indiscriminate races, beliefs, ethnicities and differences if it meant extinguishing you from the world."
"Huh?"
He did have the gist of it, like facing marching Holy Guards and Churches if being exposed, or perhaps being chased and hunted by numerous people who were hell-bent on exterminating Demons and Devils. But for every single being of this world to indiscriminate any differences to extinguish him?
The Guild Mistress remained the same even when receiving a stunned look from her guest.
"You were the one who was entrusted to restore orders by the Goddess of Fortune herself, making your stance clear as the enemy of Demons and Devils, yet you harboured a demonized eye, making you an inevitable enemy to any divine-related beings. Now, what would happen?"
The Guild Mistress merely examined the silent boy, who was pondering about the case. He looked pretty young, maybe below twenty if she guessed. For that Goddess to put such a burden on his tender shoulders...
'O' Eris, what are you thinking?'
Order Restorer.
Kazuma may have absolutely zero ideas about it, but The Guild Mistress understand that title. She understood it more than anyone else in this world.
Such a title was given to the people who are willing to be the enemy of everyone to unify the world to extinguish them. It was a cruel fate, a terrible destiny no one deserved to harbour. To be hunted down by the whole world and its inhabitants until they were annihilated.
An existence so exalted yet so condemned. A being of unrequited hero, who was willing to be sacrificed for the sake of the unity of the world and its inhabitants. To be seen under the light of a Sinner and a Heretic, a Pariah and a Devil-kin. Such an exalted position with an even more exalted purpose.
But not one being, not even Gods and Goddesses, would appreciate them.
To live for the sole purpose of peace by being utterly annihilated, for everything that they have and considered dear. Whilst being remembered as an unforgivable sinner throughout history, or perhaps being completely forgotten altogether.
Such a cruel fate. Such an unfair assignment.
"...An Order Restorer is a title bestowed for a being who will be hunted down by everyone for the sake of unifying every being in this world. For people to put aside their differences needed an issue that required their cooperation with each other... An Order Restorer would become that issue. A being strong enough to threaten everyone by their existence alone. A talented and bright star, inundating everyone with its light. And shall be remembered as the vilest creature in the river of history."
He was getting more and more terrified with each passing second. His usual composure was nowhere to be seen, with cold sweats dripping down through his skin at an alarming rate. His breaths quickened, unable to calm himself one bit.
'This... t-this is worse than I thought, no, it-it's the worst of what I thought...'
To be hunted by the whole world.
Even a full-fledged Hero would tremble from such a thought. So how about him? A mere teenager with only two days of experience as an Adventurer under his belt?
'Hey, you son of a b*tch, are you trying to me screw me over with this lie?!'
'...Thou are too weak. Thou need a motivator!'
As expected of Sin of Greed, the embodiment of Greed itself! Even such exponential growth isn't enough to satiate its greed!
'Motivator your mother-'
