Chapter 7: Lightfern & Brandybuck
Elsewhere, on the hospital roof of Bart's, Ferdy was leaning and looking over the edge, 00BB keeping him from losing his balance. Ferdy had seen Hobbit-shaped movement behind the hospital. 00BB looked at him as he approached the S.H.I.R.E vehicle. He gestured with a nod towards it that he wanted 00BB to join him again. The Hobbits mounted. Then, Ferdy turned the vehicle around and drove downwards at 180 degrees (a straight angle, that is). He dismounted inches from the ground, before he was running to towards where he saw a third Hobbit; while 00BB went to park and hide the quadbike/ATV.
The Hobbit was both hiding and resting. Somehow, Ferdy knew who it was.
"It's not safe, not even down here." he (Ferdy) remarked, calmly.
"Where do you suggest I go?" asked the Hobbit "I don't even know the fates of my cousins."
"I've met them" commented Ferdy.
"How?" the other Hobbit asked.
"Correction, we've both met them" broke in 00BB.
"You have? How?" asked the Hobbit.
"Which makes you Merry Brandybuck" Ferdy added on.
"How do you know?" asked Merry.
"Like my friend, 00BB" he gestured to said Hobbit "said, we have met your cousins" he put emphasis on 'we'.
"And... who are you?" Merry wanted to know.
"I'm Ferdinand Lightfern. You can call me 'Ferdy' if you want to" Ferdy said.
Something made Ferdy look up.
"00BB" he said to said Hobbit "you, Merry & I for some reason have get get on top of that roof"
"The one we just left?" asked 00BB "And by 'we' I mean just you and I"
"I knew that." answered Ferdy "Also: Oh, yes. All three of us are going up there."
...
Not long after Ferdy uttered those words, he, Merry & 00BB were on the roof of the hospital of Barts.
"Got a plan?" 00BB asked.
"I have" Ferdy answered, slowly "but you might not like it"
"You right" agreed the other Hobbit "I might not like it. But, I'll do it anyway"
...
Ferdy's plan was this: 00BB & Merry take the Quadbike/ATV/4x4 to a safe-place. While they did, he would remain on the roof. He walked towards the edge again. Looking down he said aloud:
"I don't deny this is a beginning. Of what, I do not know for certain. All I know is the Multiverse is like that. That is enough for now, I think. Now. NOW! Now there is work to be done. On both sides."
