Questions

SombraZorro70: I hope to put John Constantine in my story, but I want to get to know his character better. So, I need to find some John Constantine stories that I can read.

Pride of the Quincy: Yeah that was what I was going for, so I hope you liked it.

Strongest Sage: I'll say that it's marginally better than being counter guardian EMIYA, only because Shirou could still die and pass on.

John: Nabu's present has definitely changed Shirou's future. But that doesn't mean Emiya archer won't show up in this story because he's technically a Shirou from a timeline different from the three routes from Fate Stay Night. So, he'll still show up in the 5th grail war.

TigerWarrior1998: Thanks for coming over to read this story and I'm glad you like the first chapter, now onto the questions. First, this story is like Fate Grand Marvel where the heroes just appear in the Nasuverse, it's just that the DC characters have been there much longer and were given the time to make themselves a home in the Nasuverse. So overall, the Nasuverse lore is largely the same from the canon. But that will change once I get close to the end of the story, where I have something big planned that will change everything. Second, Shirou doesn't know magecraft because in this story his family kept that a secret from him. But he does know magic taught to him by Nabu. Lastly, Shirou does have Avalon because Kiritsugu still used it to heal him, he just doesn't know about it.

Anything that is written in italics means that someone is speaking telepathically. Now let's get to the story.

Within the tower of fate, Shirou can be found inside of a library, as he reads through a book. For almost ten years now, Shirou has been doing this in order to increase his knowledge of the mystic arts along with the training he receives from Nabu. However, today was different because he wasn't reading a book about magic. Instead, he was reading a book that contained some history of the world that Nabu came from.

Not too long ago, Shirou had stubble on a section of the library that had detailed records of another world. Ever since this discovery Shirou has been fascinated with it or to be more specific, he's been fascinated with the people recorded in these books. So far Shirou has read about men of steel, dark knights, and scarlet speedsters. But there was so many more to learn about. So, whenever Shirou found the time, he would always find himself drawn here and reading about legends that he may never meet.

But as he was reading, the helmet of fate suddenly appeared in front of him. "So, this is what you have chosen to do in your free time."

"Sorry Nabu. I've been here a lot lately." Shirou said as he closed the book he was reading. "I just can't help it. There are just so many different people from your world that chose to do good with the abilities that they have, and I can't help but want to learn about them."

"Do not apologize, there is nothing wrong with wanting to learn about those that have fought for order." Nabu assured the young man. "But there is something to be said when you have been here longer than you intended to. If you wish for your family to not suspect anything, then you should leave."

Without needing to say anything else, Shirou quickly put the book back on the shelf before opening a gate and returning to his room. He then soon left his room and made his way downstairs to the kitchen. In the kitchen Shirou would see Sella already getting things ready.

"Good morning, Sella." Shirou greeted her.

"Good morning, Shirou." Sella replied. "Are you here to help?"

"Yeah, I came to help." Shirou said to Sella before moving into the kitchen.

As the two of them worked to prepare breakfast, other members of the family would slowly wake up and come downstairs. Kiritsugu was the first to come down and sat in the living room, not long later Irisviel and Liz would join him. Illya would be the last to get up and by the time she did, breakfast was ready.

Soon the entire family would all come to the dining room and enjoy breakfast together. As they ate, the family would talk about their plans for the day.

"Don't forget everyone, today we're meeting Sakura and Mr. Matou at the riverside park." Irisviel said to everyone at the table.

"I have work today." Shirou reminded his family. "So don't wait for me at home. I'll meet all of you at the park."

"Okay Shirou, but don't be late." Irisviel replied to her son.

So, with that said everyone would finish their breakfast before heading off to do what they had planned. Shirou himself would soon leave the house and head to his part time job. He traveled through the city of Fuyuki until he arrived at a shop called Copenhagen.

As Shirou entered the shop, he would soon be greeted by a brown-haired woman dressed in the shop uniform. "Hey Emiyan."

This is Otoko Hotaruzuka or as she likes to be called Neko. Shirou met her when he was younger. Back then his family were living in a bigger house and Taiga Fujimura the girl next door, who is now one of his teachers, would always come over to watch Shirou when his parents went out for a couple of days. It was through Taiga that Shirou eventually met Neko because they were close friends with each other. Ever since they first met Neko has been looking out for Shirou and She made it a habit to call him Emiyan. When he was old enough, she offered him a job but only for part time since he was still in school.

"Hi, Neko. I'm here to work." Shirou responded to her.

"Good. But before you do anything in the shop, can you help me deliver some stuff to the temple." Neko ask Shirou before heading into the back.

"Sure." Shirou said as he followed her.

Neko would thank Shirou before the two of them walked into a room that had a couple crates of drinks. Shirou would then help Neko put the crates into a van before they drove off to the temple. When they arrived at the bottom of the temple, both Shirou and Neko would both let out sigh of frustration at the sight of the stairway to the temple before they eventually grabbed the crates and made their way up.

But as they got closer to the temple, Shirou would suddenly stop. Something was different with the area. He didn't know what it was, but Shirou felt something. He has felt something similar to this feeling a couple times before. For the two months that he has been Dr. Fate, Shirou has encountered people called magus. Many times, these magi would try to do something that disrupt the order of the world, so Shirou would be forced to step in. Sometimes a magi would have a familiar and they felt similar to what he was feeling now. But whatever Shirou was feeling around the temple is much more powerful. Nabu has said on multiple occasions that the magus did not use magic but instead used some type of variant of it, which seemed weaker than what Shirou was used to. So, he didn't think that it was a magus.

While Shirou was thinking of a possible answer, he didn't notice that he stopped climbing the steps. Neko would pick up on this and snap him out of his thoughts. "Emiyan, are you okay?" Neko said as she nudged him with her elbow.

When Shirou was snapped back to reality, he would remember what he was doing and quickly come up with an excuse. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Guess I just didn't expect how long the stairs would be."

His excuse seemed to work as Neko didn't question him anymore and tried to encourage him to keep going. "Well try holding on for a little longer. We're almost at the temple."

For now, Shirou decided to leave this problem for later and focus on the job he had to do now. As he and Neko climb the stairs and finally made it to the temple gates, Neko would forget to watch her foot and trip on the last step. Soon Neko would fall with the crates in her hands, and they would most likely break when hitting the ground. Luckily before that happened someone stepped in the catch the crates.

Both Shirou and Neko were obviously shocked at everything that happened and took a moment to calm down, before looking at the person who helped them. They saw a man dressed in a dark green suit and he was staring at the two with a stoic expression through a pair of glasses. While Neko had no idea who he was, Shirou would recognize this man as Souichirou Kuzuki, one of his high school teachers.

"Emiya what are you doing here?" Souichirou asks the young man in an almost emotionless tone.

"Oh, I'm just doing my job and came to the temple to deliver these drinks." Shirou answers the teacher. "How about you Mr. Kuzuki, did you come to visit the temple and talk to the monks?"

"No, I live in the temple and if you excuse me, I have some business I need to take care of." Souichirou said before putting down the crate of drinks and going down the stairs.

As he left, Shirou couldn't help but strangely stare at him before he saw Issei come up to him.

"Emiya, Hotaruzuka, are those the drinks that we order?" Issei questions the two of them.

"Yeah, sorry it took so long but it's kind of hard to carry these crates when we have to go up so many stairs." Neko replied.

"I'm sure it was and everyone in the temple appreciates your hard work. So please follow me and I'll show you where to put them." Issei told the two before leading them into the temple.

As they walk into the temple grounds, Issei would bring Shirou and Neko into a storage building, where they could place the crates. As soon as the crates were down Neko left saying that she was going to say hi to a friend, before leaving the two boys alone.

Shirou would use this chance to ask Issei a question. "Hey, Issei, how long has Mr. Kuzuki lived in the temple?"

"For about as long as he's been teaching at our school." Issei answered him. "But not too long ago, he brought a woman to the temple. I think he said she was his fiancée."

Shirou was a little stunned to hear this. "A fiancée!? I didn't think Mr. Kuzuki was the type to settle down."

"So did I. But that just goes to show you to not judge a book by its cover." Issei replied as they both made their way out of the storage building.

Both Shirou and Issei continued to talk with each other as they made their way to the front gate. But unbeknownst to either of them, someone from within one of the temple buildings was watching them and they seem to take a particular interest in Shirou. It wouldn't be long until Shirou noticed this presence and looked around himself. However, by the time he did this, the mysterious presence was gone.

"Is something wrong Emiya?" Issei questioned as he saw Shirou looking around.

"No nothing's wrong." Shirou said to his friend.

Issei seemed skeptical of Shirou but wouldn't get a chance to say anything when Neko suddenly came up to them. "Alright Shirou, let's get going!"

When Shirou heard this, he would say bye to his friend before he followed Neko out of the temple and down the stairs. However, as they were about to get into the van and head back to the shop, Neko's phone suddenly started ringing. When she answered her phone, Shirou couldn't exactly hear what the person on the phone was saying. But from what Neko was saying, it sounded like she was talking to her dad, and it did not sound good.

"Hello dad, yeah, we just finished delivering the things to the temple."

"What! Wait what happened!?"

"Okay, okay, I'll come back and see what I can do."

After Neko was done talking on the phone she turned it off and turn to Shirou. "Sorry Shirou. It looks like there's some trouble at home, so the shop won't be open today. So, you don't have to work today."

"But I can run the shop while you and your dad are out." Shirou offers.

"No, its fine Emiya. You've already done plenty for us and plus it wouldn't be good to always rely on you. So, you just go home for the day." Neko said to Shirou after shaking her head at his offer. "Do you need a ride?"

"No, I'll be fine." Shirou said.

So, with this, they both said their goodbyes to each other, before Neko got into the van and drove back home. Shirou on the other hand was left wondering what he should do. He still had a couple hours before he needed to go to the park, and he didn't need to do anything at home. So that left him with only one option. He looked around himself to make sure that no one was around before walking to a place that no one could see him. Then Shirou opens a gate and returns to the tower of fate.

As soon as he was in, the helmet of fate would again appear before Shirou. "I did not expect you to return so soon. Did you not say that you had work to do?"

"Sorry, Nabu. Something happened with the owners, and they decided to close the shop for the day." Shirou apologizes. "I didn't have anything else that I needed to do, so I was hoping that you would have something you need me to do."

The helmet just floated in front of Shirou, as if Nabu was thinking before he spoke again. "Although this is unexpected, it is not unwelcomed. Come, there is work to do."

This was all Shirou needed to hear before walking towards the helmet and putting it on. As the outfit of Dr. Fate formed, Shirou felt a great power flow through him. Back when he first put on the helmet, the power was almost overwhelming for him, but now his body has gotten a little more used to it.

Soon, Shirou was gone, and Dr. Fate stood in his place. Then within a few minutes after his transformation Dr. Fate opened a portal and left the tower.

After stepping through the portal, Shirou would find that he was no longer in Fuyuki. In fact, Shirou didn't think that he was anywhere in Japan because right now he found himself high above a city and the last time he checked, there weren't any clock towers in Japan.

Despite the huge change of scenery, Nabu would quickly get Shirou to work. "What are you waiting for? Hurry and follow the disturbance that we sense here."

With those orders, Shirou would fly down towards the city. As Shirou flew towards the location of the disturbance, he was given the chance to take a better look at the city and its people. Just as Shirou thought, this is London. If he were here on vacation, then he would be enjoying the city. But seeing that he has a duty to do, he stays focused and ignores everything around him.

Dr. Fate would soon find that he was close to the disturbance and landed. You would expect people to freak out at seeing a man land on the ground after flying in the sky, but no one seemed to even notice Dr. Fate as he walked around them. In fact, it was as if they couldn't even see him, and Dr. Fate was hoping to keep it that way. Soon Dr. Fate found himself in front of a tea shop and made his way inside. Inside the shop he could sense something in the back, so he went towards it and found a power breaker, but the cables looked like something had chewed through them.

A normal person would expect this to be caused by rodents, but Dr. Fate wouldn't be so easily fooled. From the power breaker he could see a magical trail absorbing the electric energy leaking from the exposed cables. So, Dr. Fate followed the trail and would soon find himself walking in a sewer. As Dr. Fate was following the trail, he suddenly heard footsteps, alongside a screech from an unknown creature.

Immediately when hearing this, Dr. Fate stopped following the trail and went in the direction he heard the sounds come from. It wouldn't be long until Dr. Fate saw the sources of the two sounds. There was a long-haired man that seemed to be in his late twenties, dressed in all black and he was being chased by some sort of giant electrical rodent.

When seeing this, Dr. Fate wouldn't waste any time and quickly stepped in to save the man. "Be gone, repulsive beast, unless you wish to be destroyed."

Despite the warning the electrical monster wouldn't back down and attempted to pounce the doctor. But it wouldn't get to do much else as Dr. Fate simply raised his hand and completely destroyed the monster with a golden light.

Once the monster was dealt with, Dr. Fate turned his attention to the man he had just saved. The man seemed injured, but it wasn't anything that couldn't be healed with magic. However, Dr. Fate can tell that this man was not an ordinary person because he felt just like one of those magi. So, Dr. Fate approached him with caution.

"Are you okay?" Dr. Fate asks while he offers a hand to the man.

"I'm fine, just let me catch my breath." The man replied as he accepted the help, until he saw who had saved him. "Wait, who are you?"

When he heard this Dr. Fate would blatantly answer him before once again following the trail. "I am Dr. Fate."

However, the magi was left even more confused and tried to gather more information as he followed Fate. "Were you sent here by the clock tower?"

But Dr. Fate did not answer and simply kept walking, and this annoyed the magi. So, to grab Dr. Fate's attention, he decided to get in front of him and introduce himself. "I am Lord El-Melloi 2, the head of the department of modern magecraft theories of the clock tower. So, I ask you again, did the clock tower send you here?"

"I don't know who you are, nor do I care." Dr. Fate said to the now named Lord El-Melloi 2 before pushing him out of his way. "Now move, I have work to do."

Lord El-Melloi 2 seemed taken aback by Dr. Fate and made no further attempts to question him. But that did not stop him from continuing to follow the doctor through the sewers. As the two of them walked, they soon found something that caused them to stop. They saw a corpse lying in front of them and all its flesh was stripped off, leaving nothing but the skeleton behind. A foul scent was also coming from somewhere close. When Dr. Fate turned to look, he would see a pile of corpses, identical to the one in front of him, all within the sewage water. Dr. Fate couldn't help but balled up his fist at the sight of so many deaths.

When Lord El-Melloi 2 saw the corpses, it seemed to confirm something for him. "So, that monster really was feeding. But it looks like it wasn't just feeding on the electrical energy."

However, Dr. Fate could not hear him as Shirou himself was caught up in his own anger at the sight of the corpses. Something that Nabu tried to snap him out from. "Shirou Emiya, remember what I taught you. Do not let your mind become clouded with emotion. It is only with a clear mind that you can complete your duty and deliver the proper punishment."

After hearing Nabu's words, Shirou would take a moment to calm himself before moving forward again. This was something that Lord El-Melloi 2 took note of before he also moved forward. While the two were walking the space around them suddenly started to shift and change.

Lord El-Melloi 2 seemed to know the cause of this phenomenon. "So, a bounded field really was set up here. That means that a mage's workshop is down here."

"If someone really is responsible for this then they will pay for the lives that were lost." Dr. Fate said before performing a few simple hand gestures and destroying the bounded field.

Once the bounded field was down, both Dr. Fate and Lord El-Melloi 2 could see a pathway leading into a pillar hallway. The both of them would go to the hallway and as they made their way through, they would find themselves in a dark room with a statue sitting before them. It wouldn't be long until someone came to confront them.

"How dare you trouble me? Do you two know that you're barging into Gueldoa Davenant's workshop." An old man said as the room suddenly started lighting up with electrical energy. "Who are you nobodies?"

"I am Lord El-Melloi 2." Lord El-Melloi 2 introduce himself.

"Oh so, you're the so-called up start from the modern magecraft theories." Gueldoa said with a bit of surprise. "Why did you destroy a product of my workshop?"

"Isn't it obvious, you are causing problems for the area. People are going missing and all the energy that you've gathered up, is starting to cause a problem. It's gone to the point that you threaten to break the Clock Tower's biggest taboo, Concealment of the mystics!" Lord El-Melloi 2 explain to Gueldoe.

"Do you take me for a fool Lord El-Melloi 2? There is no way the mystics will be revealed by such little things! I know why you're really here; you came to steal my research and I won't let you have it!" Gueldoe suddenly blurted out as a dozen of the giant electrical rodents jumped down and surrounded Lord El-Melloi 2 and Dr. Fate.

As one of the rodents tried to attack them, it was suddenly obliterated by a gold light. Dr. Fate has had enough but before he makes his move, he decides to question Gueldoa. "Gueldoa Davenant was it? Tell me, why did you take the lives of innocent people?"

Well, would you look at this? You're dressed in quite the outfit but don't think that it will save you when I rip you to pieces." Gueldao answers Dr. Fate in a mocking tone. "But to think that you two have infiltrated my workshop because of such a petty affair. My objective is not to kill, it is to reach the Root and to that I need tens of thousands of ordinary lives to become my fuel. So, it is only part of the process and soon you two will become part of it."

As soon as Gueldao said this, his monsters all jumped towards Dr. Fate to kill him. When seeing this Dr. Fate simply raised his hand and all the energy in the electrical rodents was forcefully ripped out of them, leaving them as lifeless husk.

"Gueldoa Davenant not only has your experiment threatened the order of the world, but you have taken the lives of the innocents and thus you shall answer for your crimes." Dr. Fate stated as he absorbed the energy that he took from the creatures.

"WAIT!?" Lord El-Melloi 2 suddenly shouted, catching Dr. Fate's attention. "Dr. Fate don't kill him. He is a high-ranking member of the clock tower. So let me take him in so that he can be properly punished."

Shirou stopped to think on this and seemed like he was going to listen to Lord El-Melloi 2, when he started pulling back. Until Nabu spoke up. "What are you doing? Shirou Emiya, did you forget what those magi are capable of when left to do as they please or did what happened to you all those years ago mean nothing."

After hearing this, Shirou could think of nothing but the fire and all the people who were burned in it. Then he remembers what Gueldoa did to those people in his pursuit of the Root. "Lord El-Melloi 2 let me make one thing clear. I am not part of your organization; I am an agent of order, and I will fulfill my duties."

With that said, Dr. Fate would go up to Gueldao and place his hands on him. Using the energy he took from the rodents; Dr. Fate channeled it all into Gueldeo and completely incinerated him in the process.

Once he was done with Gueldao, Dr. Fate would turn to Lord El-Melloi 2. But his eyes were glowing, and he spoke in a different voice. "Lord El-Melloi 2, tell your organization this. If any of you try to disturb the order of this world, then they will answer to Dr. Fate."

With that final message, Dr. Fate would open a portal and leave Lord El-Melloi 2 to wonder what had just happened. But unbeknownst to any of them, a figure stood in the shadow watching everything that happened before he disappeared into the shadows.

When Dr. Fate returned to his tower, he would remove his helmet and Shirou would again stand in front of the helmet.

"Nabu, was that message really necessary?" Shirou said, questioning his mentor on his action.

"Yes, it is time the magus learn that they no longer have the right to disturb the order of this world." Nabu explains. "Do you have doubts?"

"No, it is just that this is the first time that we met a member of the Clock Tower. I feel like things are moving too fast." Shirou replied to Nabu

"Do not fear Shirou Emiya. Although there are many magi, know that you will always have the support of the lords of order, and we will see to it that you come out victorious." Nabu assures the young man.

Shirou would quietly nod his head to this, before remembering something and checking the time. When he saw what the time was, Shirou would panic and turn to Nabu. "Sorry Nabu, I have something important to get to, so bye."

Before Nabu could even respond, Shirou opened a gate back to his house and left the tower of Fate. He then ran out of the house and headed to the riverside park. It would take a while for Shirou to get through the busy streets of Fuyuki, but he eventually made it. At the park he would be greeted by both Sakura and Illya.

"Onii-chan you finally made it."

"Hello senpai."

Shirou would apologize to his family and friends, before joining them. Together they would enjoy their time at the park and go off to different shops. Of course, to make up for his tardiness, Shirou was forced to carry everything that the girls bought, and it left him with no time to look for anything for himself.

But as Shirou was out with the girls, both Kiritsugu and Kariya would stay in the park and talk with each other, as they stare out to the lake.

"Hello Kiritsugu" Kariya greeted.

"Kariya." Kiritsugu simply said back.

The two of them went silent for a bit after that exchange. Until Kariya decided to start some small talk. "How have you been?"

"Good and how about you." Kiritsugu replied.

"I'm doing better." Kariya said.

But Kiritsugu soon got tired of the small talk and went straight to business. "Kariya, is there something you want to ask?"

"Kiritsugu, have you contacted him?" Kariya asks.

"No. You and I both know that he's the one who contacts us." Kiritsugu reminded him as he knew who Kariya was talking about. "Why are you suddenly asking about him?"

Kariya seemed to hesitate when trying to tell Kiritsugu what he had to say. "The holy grail war… It's going to begin again."

When hearing this Kiritsugu finally took his eyes off the lake and turned to face Kariya "What! How is that possible? It's too soon for another grail war."

"I don't know but my contact from the mage associate says that it's going to start soon." Kariya answered. "Kiritsugu if that thing were to be unleashed again and he's not here to stop it then the fire from ten years ago will be nothing, but a small firecracker compared to what will happen this time if someone were to win the grail."

"Then we can only hope that the Phantom Stranger will come back." Kiritsugu said as he prayed that the events from the fourth holy grail war won't ever repeat again.

A/N: Thank you for reading this chapter and feel free to leave a review or ask a question. Quick little update, I decided to change both my stories ratings to M because of some content that I'll be writing in the future.
