The next morning Din woke up to the sound of someone in the house. Din stood up pulling out his blaster he cautiously opened the door, he saw Luke in the kitchen. Din lowered his blaster, he watched Luke who was softly humming to himself Luke suddenly noticed Din.
Oh, Din good morning. Luke said his mask falling into place.
Morning. Din said sitting down and plopping Grogu onto a chair. Luke walked into the room setting a plate infront of din and Grogu. Din noticed Luke winced as he set it down.
Are you alright? Din asked.
hm? Oh yes I'm fine. Luke replied. How did you sleep? Luke asked.
I slept well. Din replied. What about you? Luke glanced down.
Fine. he finally replied.
Did you sleep? Din asked.
A little. Luke replied heading for the door. Luke paused at the door and grimaced. Din was about to say something but Luke spoke first.
I'll be back for Grogu after breakfast.
Alright. Din Said. Luke nodded once then left the house.
An hour later Luke returned. Are you ready for your training Grogu? Luke said entering the house. Grogu made a grumpy noise reaching for Din. Din sighed.
You have to train kid. Din noticed Luke flinch slightly.
Come little one. Luke said before Din could say anything. Grogu grumbled but walked over to Luke, he held his arms up demanding to be picked up. Luke sighed bending down to pick him up, Luke froze grimacing in pain.
Are you alright? Din asked standing up.
Yes fine. Luke replied though his words were strained. Din watched Luke cautiously noticing he seemed stiff when he walked.
You may watch him train if you'd like. Luke said.
Thank you. Din replied nodding.
Luke brought Grogu into a clearing and started training him. Din sat down nearby watching them, Din noticed Luke was sitting rather then standing and interacting with Grogu. As Din continued to watch them he noticed Luke was trembling slightly. Din stood up and walked over to them.
Hello. Luke said his eyes not leaving Grogu. Din lowered himself next to Luke.
Why aren't you out there with him? Din asked bluntly. Luke's eyes flickered to Din for a second an emotion in them he couldn't quite place.
Just a little tired. Luke replied his eyes on Grogu. Din sighed. Grogu. Luke called gesturing for him to come over. We must meditate now. He said. Grogu grumped reaching for Din.
Sorry Grogu, you have to train with Luke. Grogu squeaked in annoyance but went to Luke. Luke bent to pick up Grogu grimacing as he did.
I will bring him to your place for lunch after we meditate. Luke said.
Thank you. Din replied. Luke nodded smiling slightly then walked off with Grogu. Din watched him as he walked away something was wrong with Luke. Din couldn't help but think.
A couple hours later Luke returned with Grogu.
I'll make lunch. Luke said heading into the kitchen.
I can make it. Din replied.
No, it's fine. Luke said pulling plates out.
Alright. Din said turning to Grogu who was begging for his attention. Hey kid, how was training? Din asked sitting down with him. Grogu started babbling at him, Din smiled under his helmet, suddenly a loud crash interrupted them. Din quickly stood up his blaster drawn before he realized it had been Luke. Din glanced at Luke, Lukes hands were on the counter his elbows locked taking deep breaths as his body trembled.
Luke! What happened? Din said
I- I'm fine. Luke replied slowly stepping away from the counter only to sway violently.
Go. Din said walking into the kitchen.
What?
Go sit with Grogu, I'll make lunch.
Din, Luke started to say. Luke go, it's fine. Din interrupted him. Luke looked hesitant but left the kitchen. Din quickly finished the meal bringing it into the living room. He handed a plate to Luke. Luke glanced up at him.
You eat first. Din said handing another plate to Grogu. Din, it's fine honestly. Luke said starting to stand.
No, you should eat here. Din said pressing on his shoulder Luke flinched, Din quickly pulled his hand away. I'm sorry. He said. Luke shook his head.
No, it's fine. Luke replied picking at the food. Din turned away focusing his attention on Grogu, a few minutes passed and Din glanced back to see Luke had eaten half of the food.
Thank you Din. Luke said standing up. Din nodded. Luke started to head for the door but suddenly stopped, he was shaking slightly and grimacing. Luke grabbed the back of a chair to steady himself. Din watched him concerned. Luke sat down in the chair breathing heavily.
Are you alright? Din asked walking over.
I'm fine, its just, Luke paused, Din watched as an internal battle raged inside Luke. I have bad pain days. Luke finally admitted. Din tilted his head.
From what? He asked. Luke glanced away.
Old wounds. Luke replied. Din immediately sprang up.
Are you hurt? Did the reopen? Luke shook his head.
There healed, just hurt sometimes. He said. Luke slowly stood up. Bring Grogu down to the lake after lunch. Luke said his mask falling into place.
Alright. Din replied watching Luke worriedly.
I'm fine. Luke insisted. He then turned and left the house. Din sighed turning to Grogu.
Time to eat kid. He said picking him up. Grogu cooed happily din smiled despite his worry over Luke.
After lunch Din and Grogu walked over to the lake. Din glanced around, he didn't see Luke. Din sighed. He walked a little bit when he noticed Luke, he was asleep on the waters edge. Din paused. Sorry kid, looks like your not training right now. Din said picking Grogu up. Luke suddenly shot up.
Din! He said stumbling to his feet. I'm sorry, I must have drifted off.
It's fine, you need the rest. Din said. Luke shook his head.
I'm fine. He said holding out his hands for Grogu. Din reluctantly handed Grogu over noticing how Luke flinched when he brushed against him. Luke smiled down at Grogu. Thank you for bringing him. Luke said. Din nodded. I will bring him back for dinner. Luke added.
Alright. Din said Be good Grogu. Grogu squeaked. Din shook his head slightly then turned and walked back to the house.
A few hours passed. Din looked up from the map he was studying when Luke walked into the house with Grogu. Grogu immediately ran to Din squeaking happily. Din smiled picking him up.
How was training? He asked Grogu.
Patoo. Grogu said. Din glanced up at Luke.
How are you feeling? He asked.
I'm alright. Luke replied. I'll be going now. He added turning to leave.
Wait, would you like to stay for dinner? Din asked. Luke paused.
No, I'm fine thank you. He replied. Din nodded. I'll see you tomorrow Grogu. Luke said. Grogu squeaked. Luke smiled softly but Din could see pain behind his smile. Din sighed turning to the kitchen.
While Din was making dinner he remembered not seeing any food in Luke's house. Din made a third plate planning to take it to Luke after he and Grogu had eaten.
Time to eat kid. Din said walking into the room. Grogu looked up from the window. What are you looking at? Din asked walking over. Grogu made a noise pointing out the window, a dark cloud was forming in the sky. It's going to rain. Din said picking Grogu up. You can watch the storm after you eat. He said setting him down at the table. Grogu grumped but started eating happily. Din sighed sitting down.
A little while past and Din had put Grogu down to sleep. Din grabbed the extra plate of food and headed towards Luke's place.
