I hope you like the last chapter and got your blood pumping.
Now in this one Pidgeot and Kingler will try to soften Articuno up before Charizard goes up and there will be some surprises in store in this chapter.
Now then I will do something in the climax of Charizard vs Articuno something that will ring a bell during Ash's match with Clair back in Johto.
Also there will be a budding moment between Ash and May in this story.
Another thing UlitmateCCC said if Ash and Silver are half-brothers? I wish but the answer is no.
Now then speaking of Silver he will be mentioned in chapter 22.
Now if anyone wants to know who Silver has on his team PM me and I will tell you, but FYI his Pokémon are very strong.
Now then when Ash wins the tactics symbol, that's when the black fog an ancient giant Haunter that will be raising hell and Giovanni will be there to oversee its capture before being forced to retreat but not before getting a glance at Ash.
It will be a tough battle where Ash and Dante will have to make the ultimate choice of how to deal with the giant Haunter.
Now with that said on with the chapter.

(Chapter 18 Ash vs Noland: Battle for Knowledge part 2)
'When we last left off, Ash and Brandon began their 4 on 4 match. Ash called Professor Oak and send him some of his Pokémon and Ash had team composing of Charizard, Pidgeot, Kingler and Butterfree. Ash's Kingler, Butterfree and Pidgeot were able to defeat Noland's Rhyhorn, Machamp and Venasaur even though the 3rd battle ended in a double KO, Butterfree was able to beat Venasaur thanks to Charizard's 'pep talk' now that Articuno has come to battle, Ash sends out Pidgeot to battle Articuno. What is Ash's strategy to beat it?'
"Okay Pidgeot listen up, Articuno may be a flying type but it's an ice type as well so watch out for ice beam." Said Ash.
Pidgeot chirped in agreement and faced Articuno.
"So Ash is going try to wear out Articuno." Said Scott.
"That's right Scott but it won't be easy." Added Brock.
"I know that both Pokémon are flying types but Articuno is a ice type and it has a advantage." Said Max.
"I hope Ash knows what he is doing." Said May.
"Ok Articuno lets go!" said Noland.
Articuno took to the skies.
"Follow it Pidgeot!" said Ash.
Pidgeot followed Articuno.
"Ok Pidgeot use quick attack!" shouted Ash.
"DGEOTU!" it said as it moved fast with a white trail behind it and heading towards to Articuno.
'Typical move.' Noland thought. "Ok Articuno dodge that and use Ice Beam!" he said.
Articuno dodged Pidgeot's attack and got behind readying its Ice beam attack.
"Pidgeot use Agility and get behind Articuno now!" said Ash.
Pidgeot disappears and reappears behind Articuno.
"Now use Aerial Ace!" shouted Ash.
Pidgeot took off with great speed while surrounded in streaks of white lights and score a direct hit on Articuno.
"AH!" shouted Noland.
"Wow!" said Max, May and Brock.
"Impressive." Said Dante.
"Not bad Ash that was good, but now lets see you handle this." Said Noland. "Articuno shake it off and strike back with Aerial Ace!" he said.
"WHAT!?" shouted everyone.
Articuno flew high above Pidgeot and dove straight down covered in white streaks and struck Pidgeot hard.
"Pidgeot!" said Ash. "Are you all right?"
"PIDGEOTU!" it said regaining control.
"Good now use Gust!" said Ash.
Pidgeot flapped its wings 4 times and white energy is released.
"Articuno dodge that and get above Pidgeot and then use Blizzard!" said Noland.
Articuno swooped down to avoid Gust and then flew up all the way to the sky and then flaps its wings and a strong blizzard comes out of them and it was heading towards Pidgeot.
"Pidgeot Look out!" said Ash.
But it was too late and Pidgeot got slammed by Blizzard taking a lot of damage sending it to the ground hard.
"Pidgeot no!" shouted Ash.
Pidgeot was the ground in pain and struggled to stand back up while Articuno soared above it.
"Pidgeot I know it hurts getting hit by Blizzard but you got to hang on!" said Ash.
"Pika!" shouted Pikachu.
Pidgeot groaned as it struggled to get back up until it was on its two feet.
"Articuno Ice beam!" said Noland.
Articuno fired a light blue beam of cold energy heading towards Pidgeot.
"Pidgeot you can do it!" shouted Ash.
Pidgeot's eye widen as it use agility to avoid Ice beam and then got behind Articuno, then let out a loud battle cry as it sped towards Articuno with both wings glowing white and hit Articuno hard.
"What the?" said Noland.
"What move was that it isn't wing attack." Said Ash.
But Brock and Dante knew which one it was "Ash Pidgeot learned Steel wing!" said Brock.
"Right beside fire, ice types are weak to steel. Pidgeot use steel wing again!" said Ash.
Pidgeot moved fast with its wings glowing white and then slammed Articuno with them dealing a lot of damage.
"Articuno how are you holding up?" said Noland.
Articuno nodded its head.
"Well Ash your Pidgeot is truly great but it's time to end this, Articuno fly to the top of the factory." Noland said.
Articuno squawked in agreement and flew up to the roof's opening with great speed.
"Oh yeah? Pidgeot follow Articuno and use Steel wing!" said Ash.
Pidgeot took off after Articuno and its wings glowed white ready to strike.
Pidgeot got closer and closer until Noland got a smirk on his face.
"Now use mist!" he said.
Articuno opens its mouth and a thick white cloud sprays out of it and it vanished.
"Huh?" said Ash.
Articuno was nowhere to be seen and Pidgeot flew into the mist and stopped cancelling its attack and looked around looking for Articuno.
"Now use Ice beam!" shouted Noland.
Just then a ice beam came out behind Pidgeot through the mist and struck it in the back dealing mega damage.
"Pidgeot no!" said Ash.
Coming from the mist was Articuno.
"Now Articuno Steel Wing!" said Noland.
Articuno's wings glowed white and then it slammed into Pidgeot hard making it fall from the sky.
"Pidgeot no!" said Ash watching in shock.
"Now finish it off with Aerial Ace!" shouted Noland.
Articuno flew up and then came down covered in white streaks and slammed into Pidgeot hard sending it into the arena below landing hard on impact and creating a bit of a dust storm and Articuno landed on the ground.
Everyone waited in anticipation to see if Pidgeot can continue the battle, when the dust cleared up it was shown that Pidgeot was on the ground with swirly eyes on its face.
"AH!" Ash said in shock.
"Damn!' said Dante.
"Pidgeot is unable to battle, Articuno wins!" said Sergio raising his right hand.
"Well Done Articuno." Said Noland.
Articuno chirped in agreement.
"Oh man that had to hurt." Said Max.
"Pidgeot fought hard and did its best." Said Brock.
"But Articuno was very fast and strong." Added May.
"True but it managed to score some hits and learned Steel wing and that's a win in my book." Said Dante.
"Pidgeot are you ok?" said Ash in concern.
Pidgeot slowly got up and looked at Ash and nodded.
"You fought very hard and you learn Steel wing I'm proud of you." Said Ash.
Pikachu and Charizard agreed with that statement.
Pidgeot gave a small smile.
"Now return Pidgeot." Said Ash and Pidgeot was return to its Pokéball. "You fought really hard old friend, now get a good long rest."
"Ash has only 2 Pokemon left what will he do now?" said Scott.
Ash looked at Articuno and saw that even though Pidgeot landed some hits on it, it doesn't look that beat up, but even legendary Pokémon have limits and he'll find a way to push them.
'I'm considering sending Charizard to battle, but Kingler has got some rest in and maybe it can do a bit more of wearing it out.' Ash thought.
"Ok Kingler I choose you!" said Ash throwing his Pokéball.
"KookiE, KooKie!" said Kingler.
"Ok Kingler I know that you got hit by Rhyhorn but I need you now ready?" said Ash.
"Kookie!" said Kingler.
"Ok Kingler use Icy wind!" said Ash.
Kingler opened its mouth and released a wind of ice blue sparkles and aimed it towards Articuno.
Articuno dodge it and use Blizzard!" said Noland.
Articuno flaps its wings again and unleashed a strong blizzard.
"Quick Kingler Dig!" said Ash.
Kingler quickly dig underground to escape Blizzard just in time.
Articuno flew close to the arena looked around to find Kingler but couldn't find it.
Just then Kingler bust through the ground behind Articuno with its left claw open.
"Ok Kingler Hyper beam!" said Ash.
Kingler's eyes glow blue and fired a orange beam from its left claw.
"Articuno counter with Ice beam!" said Noland.
Articuno fired a light blue beam from its mouth.
The two attacks clashed resulting an explosion.
"Now Articuno Aerial Ace!" Noland shouted.
Articuno flew through the smoke covered in white streaks and hit Kingler dealing a lot of damage.
"Kingler!" shouted Ash.
"Articuno use Steel Wing!" said Noland following up with the attack.
Articuno's wings glow white and flew towards and hit Kingler with a direct hit.
"Kingler dig deep and use Crabhammer!" shouted Ash.
Kingler regaining it's strength, its left claw glow white and hits Articuno with Crabhammer dealing some damage.
"Nice one Kingler!" said Ash.
"Ok Articuno Steel wing Again!" said Noland.
"Quick Kingler Harden!" said Ash.
Kingler's body flashes white and shines, making it able to take Steel wing.
Kingler got a bit of damage but thanks to harden it was lessened a bit.
"Now Hyper Beam!" said Ash.
Kingler got ready to fire when Noland said "Articuno Mist let's go!"
Articuno let out a think white cloud to cover itself and Kingler fired the hyper beam into the mist dispelling it but Articuno wasn't there.
"Where did it go?" said Ash.
Kingler moved around looking for it until a shadow was on it and looked up, Articuno was there.
"It use Mist as a decoy so it can avoid hyper beam and got above Kingler." Ash said surprised and a little shocked.
"Ok Articuno use Ice beam!" said Noland.
Articuno fired another ice beam from its mouth.
"Quick Kingler harden!" said Ash.
But Kingler got hit by the ice beam before it can use harden and got frozen solid.
"Oh no!" shouted Ash.
"Now Steel Wing!" shouted Noland.
Articuno moved fast with its wings glowing white and hit the frozen Kingler not only breaking the ice but doing a lot of damage.
"Kingler hang in there!" said Ash.
Kingler tried to stand its ground but it was still recovering from being frozen and couldn't move well making it a sitting crab.
"Now Articuno let's wrap this up with Aerial Ace!" said Noland.
Articuno let out a big battle cry as it went up and then swooped down covered in white streaks and then slammed into Kingler making it skate across the arena until it stopped and then fell on its back with swirly eyes beaten and was out.
"Kingler is unable to battle, Articuno is the winner!" said Sergio raising his right hand.
"Dante can you have Crobat lower me to the arena?" said Ash.
"Sure Ash, Crobat go give Ash a lift down." Said Dante.
Crobat flew over and landed on Ash's back and lifted him up and down to the arena and when his feet touch the ground Crobat let go and Ash ran over to Kingler.
"Kingler are you alright?" asked Ash.
"Kookie…" it said weakly.
"You fought very hard today and wanted to help me win even up against Articuno, I am very proud of you Kingler." Said Ash.
Kingler couldn't help but move its small claw up and down and tears of joy were forming from its eyes.
"Now take it easy old friend, you have earn a good long rest." Said Ash and returned Kingler back to its ball.
Ash then walked back to Crobat who then lift him back on to the platform and then returned to Dante.
"That's Ash for ya." Said Brock.
"He knows what to say to his Pokémon." Added May.
"He treats them as friends and family and there's nothing stronger than that." Said Dante.
"Well Ash I must say you raised your Pokémon well, I am impressed but victory will be mine." Said Noland.
"Not on this day I'll come out as the winner." Said Ash.
He then turn to Charizard.
"Are you ready Charizard?" said Ash.
Charizard nodded in agreement.
"Then I choose you!" said Ash.
Charizard roared as he flew down to the arena and then locked his eyes at Articuno.
"This is going to be tough." Said Ash.
Over at the stands the others were thinking the same thing.
"Now it's Charizard vs Articuno." Said Max.
"I hope Ash can beat Articuno." Said May.
"Fire vs ice a classic battle." Said Brock.
"Now then let's see if Ash can defeat even a legendary Pokémon." said Dante.
"Begin!" said Sergio.
"Go Charizard!" said Ash.
Charizard roared and took off.
"Go Articuno!" said Noland.
Articuno squawked and took off as well.
(cue the Kanto trainer battle remix)
"Charizard use flamethrower!" said Ash.
Charizard let out a roar as he releases a red-orange stream of fire from his mouth.
"Articuno counter with Ice Beam!" said Noland.
Articuno fired a blue beam of cold energy to intercept flamethrower, but Charizard's flamethrower push through ice beam and hit Articuno knocking it to the ground.
"Yes! Way to go Charizard!" said Ash.
Charizard growled in agreement.
"Charizard pushed back Articuno's ice beam like it was nothing awesome!" said Max.
"A fire type should always the advantage over an ice type so Ash will be okay." Said May.
"Just as I expected Charizard's a match even for a Articuno." Said Ash.
"Careful don't count your victory just yet." Said Noland. "Articuno back into the air!"
Articuno then did so and flew up and towards Charizard.
"Charizard hit it with Flamethrower again!" said Ash.
Charizard bellowed before letting out another Flamethrower which Articuno dodged gracefully.
"It dodged!" said Ash.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
Articuno avoided the flamethrower and pass by Charizard whose eye turned towards Articuno's.
"I don't think that flamethrower affected it at all." Said May.
"Yeah that's cause it didn't even hit." Added Max.
"Well it's a fast and elegant Pokémon, possibility more in battle, and why we should expect less it is Legendary, so how will Ash deal with it." Said Scott.
Ash looked in frustration when Articuno avoided his attack and need to counter its attacks fast.
"Let's go spin into a steep dive now." Said Noland.
Articuno squawked as it did and heading to Charizard.
"Go! Charge right through it!" said Ash.
Charizard roared as he headed for Articuno.
"Articuno Mist Attack!" said Noland.
Articuno opens its mouth and sprays out a thick white cloud enveloping it and Charizard and no one can see them and Charizard stopped.
"Hey where did it go?" said Ash.
Charizard looked for it in the mist until Articuno came in and knocking its opponent to the ground. Charizard stands up, shaking its head. It looks up just in time to see Articuno fly straight for it out of the Mist cloud.
"CHARIZARD!" shouted Ash.
"PIKA!" shouted Pikachu.
"Mist is used to defend or escape I've never seen it use like that before." Said Brock.
"Charizard Dragon breath!" said Ash.
"Dodge it!" said Noland.
Charizard fired a beam of green-yellow from his mouth and Articuno dodged it twice before getting hit on the 3rd try.
Charizard rushes in to grab Articuno but escaped with ease.
"Not again." Said Ash.
"Right after a direct hit from dragon breath." Said Max.
"How does it recover like that?" said May.
Noland then said "Never under estimate the supreme power of a legendary Pokémon." Said Noland. "Go use another ice beam!"
Articuno fired another ice beam and it struck Charizard in the back and he groaned in pain.
"A direct hit!" said May.
"Yeah Charizard may be a fire type but it's also a flying type so that ice beam is causing trouble." Max said.
Charizard growled in pain but managed to break free from ice beam and charged towards Articuno.
"Now another flamethrower!" said Ash.
"Dodge and then use steel wing!" shouted Noland.
Charizard use flamethrower but Articuno dodged it gracefully.
"Watch out Ash." Said Brock.
Articuno came in with its wings glowing and hits Charizard, sending him from a huge height and crashes into the earth again.
"Oh no! Charizard!" Ash shouted in shock.
"Pika-Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Charizard can you get up?" said Ash worried.
When the dust cloud settled Charizard stands up, growling. It looks battered, but Articuno is still not tired and was right above him.
"Articuno hit it with water pulse!" said Noland.
Ash said "Huh?"
Articuno releases a blue ball of energy from its mouth at Charizard.
"Get up quick dodge it!" said Ash.
But Charizard couldn't dodge it and was sent into the wall and the ball turns into water.
"AHH! Charizard!" said Ash.
"PIKA PIKA!" Pikachu shouted.
Everyone ran up to the railing to see Charizard getting hit by water pulse.
"Oh wow that was a direct hit from water pulse…" said Max.
"And super effective." Finished May.
"So this Articuno can use water type attacks too huh?" said Brock.
"A good way to deal with fire and rock types." Said Dante.
"And that's not all." Said Scott.
Everyone turned to see Scott.
"Not only is Articuno great, but I've think Noland got Ash's number." He continued.
"What do you mean by that?" asked May.
"His number?" said Max.
"You have to have practically a direct hit from Water pulse to be effective, so Noland patiently waited for his chance." Said Scott. "in the meantime using Articuno's speed and agility to dodge everyone of Charizard's attacks." He continued getting up and walked up to the railings. "It's true that Articuno battled against Pidgeot and Kingler but still manage to have plenty of energy and then when he had a clear shot, he really let Charizard have it, that's what I mean. He's always a couple of steps ahead." He finished.
"Come on Ash." Said Max.
"You're still in this battle." Added May.
"Let's go get up Charizard." Said Ash.
Charizard got up but hunches his neck in pain, Ash is getting really nervous, and thinks he may have only one chance left. However his focus quickly returns to the match.
(Flash back)
Ash and Pikachu were on Charizard's back flying through the clouds after some training.
"Well that's it for attacks." Said Ash.
Then Charizard started glowing red which Ash and Pikachu noticed.
Charizard grunted as he told Ash he learned a new move.
"Charizard did you.. did you learn to do that attack all by yourself?" said Ash.
Charizard's answer was a loud roar as a red light engulfed the area around him.
(End flashback)
'No not yet it's too soon to use that.' Ash said in his mind.
"Articuno Ice beam!" said Noland.
Articuno then fired another ice beam from its mouth.
"Dodge it!" shouted Ash.
Charizard flew away but couldn't fully evade ice beam and got one of his wingtips frozen.
"Now water pulse go!" said Noland.
Articuno then fired a water pulse at the ice destroying it turning the ice into projectile shards. Charizard shields with his wings but it was not enough.
"He created a combo attack of ice beam and water pulse." Said Brock.
"Climb Charizard!" shouted Ash.
Charizard took off with a roar but his speed was greatly reduced.
"Go Articuno!" said Noland.
Articuno flew up as well.
Charizard groaned as he couldn't reach his normal speed.
"Something's wrong with Charizard now it look likes he's in slow motion." Said May.
Brock noticed it as well.
"Now I see why." He said. "his wingtips are frozen from that ice beam attack."
"Now I get it." Said Max realizing what happened.
"Now I get it, Noland knew that ice beam wouldn't be that effective, but he kept at it and before long he knew that Articuno would froze Charizard's wingtips." Said Scott.
"Articuno use ice beam and then water pulse." Said Noland.
Articuno fired a ice beam that became a big block of ice and then launched water pulse that shattered it sending ice shards to Charizard.
"Hit it with flamethrower now!" said Ash.
Charizard used flamethrower to stop the first wave but the rest hit him dealing a lot of damage.
"Hit by another combo attack." Said Max.
"Damn it Charizard it getting pummeled." Said Dante.
Ash groaned in frustration.
"Ok let finish this now once and for all, climb quickly and get above Charizard." Said Noland.
Articuno flew fast out of the arena and flew past Charizard.
Ash knew it was time to use that attack.
"Charizard get above Articuno and use Overheat!" he said.
Charizard roared as he glows bright red, and the ice on his wing melts and he gotten faster.

Everyone was surprised that Charizard can use overheat.
May was surprised that Charizard can use overheat, but Max said he couldn't back in the Johto league, Brock added that Charizard learned it during training and Ash kept it hidden until he needed it.
"But overheat attacks lose their power after each use, so Ash better have a back up plan." Said Scott.
Both Pokémon zoom higher and higher into the air.
"Now Charizard overheat!" said Ash.
Charizard roared as he releases a white fire with a red-orange flame spiraling around it at Articuno.
"Water pulse!" said Noland.
Articuno fired a water pulse at overheat which collides in an explosion and intense flood of light.
Everyone waited to see if overheat landed but Noland smirked.
"Now steel wing!" he said.
so Articuno bursts from the smoke and scores a direct hit. Charizard looks tired and very battered, while Articuno is still as strong as ever. But it was starting to get a bit tired.
"Another direct hit!" said May.
"Looks bad it looks Charizard can't take another direct attack." Said Brock.
Charizard saw Articuno coming towards him.
Ash knew he can't use overheat again because it won't be as effective as the first one and so he's going to use the plan he had in store.
"Ash you battle bravely, but it's time for me to end this, Articuno let's finish this off now with Steel Wing!" said Noland.
Charizard stays unmoving in midair, as May, Brock, Scott, Dante and Max watch in anxiety as Charizard stays unmoving in midair as Articuno came closer, right before Articuno can strike Ash made his move.
"Grab it now!" said Ash.
Charizard caught Articuno by the wings stopping its attack surprising Noland and Articuno.
"What no way!" said Noland.
"Now Charizard point blank dragon breath!" said Ash.
"Articuno get out of there!" shouted Noland.
But it was no use, Charizard fired dragon breath and managed to hit Articuno dead on, it got free try to get away but it felt parts of its body becoming paralyzed from the effect of Dragon breath slowing it down.
"Nice one Ash!" said Dante.
"Articuno use Ice beam!" said Noland.
"Dodge and then grab Articuno!" said Ash.
Charizard dodged the ice beam and got behind Articuno and grabbed its wings so it can't get away.
"Now Charizard start winding up!" said Ash.
Charizard roared as he spins around with Articuno in his claws.
"Now time the spin with Fire spin!" said Ash.
Charizard then used Fire spin and surround himself and Articuno in a ring of fire dealing damage to it in the process.
"Whoa look at that." Said Max.
"It's like something out of a contest." Said May.
"I know this one, so Ash is using a variation of it." Said Brock.
"Nice one Ash." Said Dante.
"Interesting finisher." Said Scott.
"Go Charizard Flaming Seismic toss!" said Ash.
Charizard roared as he brings Articuno in close, and spins downward directly into the battlefield while cover in flames crashing into it making a big dust cloud with a fiery explosion, everyone watching in anxiety for the result of the attack, after the dust cloud settles, Charizard was on the ground not moving and Articuno was struggling to stand on its feet.

Ash closed his eyes at the thought he lost but then opened them up.
Sergio was about to declared Noland the winner when Noland told him to wait until the battle is done beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Sergio did and saw that Articuno falls down while Charizard manages to stand up and then let out a big roar as Articuno try to move but couldn't and then its eyes became swirly.
"Articuno is unable to battle! Charizard is the winner!" Sergio said raising his left hand. "Therefore the winner of this battle is Ash of Pallet town."
"Alright Charizard!" said Ash.
"Pikachu!" said Pikachu happily.
Charizard flew up and let out some fire for victory.
"Wow that was amazing!" said May.
"Charizard was awesome." Added Max.
"Yeah and they beat Articuno." Said Brock.
'I'm impressed, the kid might have what it takes to conquer the battle frontier.' Scott thought.
"Not bad Ash you continue to surprise everyone." Said Dante.
A little bit later everyone was on the arena where Ash and Noland compliment Articuno and Charizard for the battle along with their Pokémon.
"Thank you Charizard, Kingler, Pidgeot and Butterfree all of you gave it your all out there." Said Ash.
Ash's Pokémon all cheered.
Noland told his Pokémon that they fought hard and told them there was no shame in losing in the battles and they cheered as well.
Noland then compliments Ash, saying that he is one of the finest trainers ever to challenge him. Ash thanks Noland for that.
Noland then told Sergio to come over as he was holding a box in his hands.
Ash looked in the box and saw a gold medal with 3 diamonds on it.
"This is a frontier symbol, it's something that can be earned here in the battle frontier." Said Sergio.
"So that's what they look like." Said Ash.
Noland then took the symbol out of the box.
"This is knowledge symbol Ash, it is proof of your victory at the battle factory." Said Noland handing it to Ash.
Ash thanks him and then does his usual victory pose.
"I got a Knowledge symbol!" said Ash.
"Pi-Pikachu!" said Pikachu.
"ROAR!" said Charizard.
"KooKie!" added Kingler.
"Free! Free!" said Butterfree.
"Pidgeotu!" finished Pidgeot.
Noland then handed Ash a portfolio called a Frontierfolio to store his symbols as a result of an amazing battle.
Ash thanked Noland again.
"Now I think it's time to visit the Pokémon center." Said Max.
Max was right about that.
Soon everyone arrived there and Ash and Noland handed their Pokémon to Nurse Joy to be treated, as she does that Ash then went off to call Professor Oak and told him about his win at the battle factory.
"That's good news Ash, I'm sure you fought hard against Noland." Said Oak.
"I did Professor and check this out." Ash said showing him the knowledge symbol.
"So that's what a frontier symbol looks like, clever so Ash how's Butterfree doing?" Oak asked changing the subject.
Ash then lowered his head as his mood changed and then lifted his head back up and told him about Butterfree is doing and how he learned Psychic thanks to Charizard's pep talk.
"I see then." Said Oak.
"What do I do Professor?" asked Ash worried for his Butterfree.
"Pikachu." Said Pikachu worrying for his friend as well.
Just then Dante and May came up to Ash.
"Ash what's going on?" asked May.
"I'm talking to Professor Oak." Ash answered.
"Something to do with Butterfree?" said Dante.
Ash nodded his head.
Ash told them about Butterfree trying to get some closure and well even though Butterfree has learned some new moves he still having a bit of a problem getting some closure and Ash didn't know what to do.
"Well if I can make a suggestion how about Butterfree stays with another butterfly Pokémon." Dante said.
"Huh?" Ash said surprised.
May then remembered something.
"That's right my Beautifly is a butterfly Pokémon and maybe being around her can help Butterfree." Said May.
Ash wasn't too sure of making that choice, he knew it was a trainer's job to try help his Pokémon in times of emotional turmoil but being around Pokémon of its kind does help as well, but beside Pikachu, Butterfree was the first pokémon he caught and didn't know what to do.
"I don't know what to do." Said Ash.
"Hold on Ash I'll call you right back I need to make some calls." Said Oak ending the call.
Ash let out a big sigh as Pikachu jumped on his shoulder and May sat next to him while Dante stood there.
"Talk about a big choice." Whispered Dante.
Just then Nurse Joy came out with Ash's Pokéballs and Chansey came out with Noland's Pokémon with Articuno following her.
Noland collected his Pokémon from Nurse Joy and told Ash to meet him back at the battle factory and left with Sergio and Scott.
Brock saw the look on Ash's face and told Max to come with him as well as to give him some time to think.
Nurse Joy asked what was wrong and Dante explained everything and Nurse Joy broke down in tears after hearing the story and she went to hug Ash, May experience a bit of jealousy but put them away for Ash's sake.
After explaining to Nurse Joy about Butterfree's situation, Nurse Joy thought about what Ash should do and then told Ash that Butterfree should hang out with Beautifly and being around one can help give it some closure.
Ash wasn't fully sure until May placed her hand on his shoulder and he looked at her.
"Ash my parents will take good care of Butterfree until you need him." Said May.
Ash then look into May's eyes and realized she and Dante and Nurse Joy were right.
"Thanks guys." Said Ash cheering up a bit.
Just then Professor Oak came back on the screen and he had Norman and Caroline on the 2nd screen above his head.
"Sorry for the wait Ash my boy, but I called Norman and Caroline and explained everything and they agreed to look after Butterfree for a while and make sure he feels comfortable." Said Professor Oak.
"Don't worry Ash we'll make sure Butterfree is safe and comfortable and we'll let you know how's he doing." Said Norman.
"OK then thanks Norman." Said Ash.
Ash then went to the transporter and placed Butterfree's Pokéball on it.
"Ok I'm ready." Said Ash.
Soon the transporter started and the Pokéball was transported from the Pokémon center to the center over at Petalburg in Hoenn which Norman got the PokéBall.
"Ok Ash we got it here, good luck on your journey." Said Norman.
"And May good luck in the contests and look after Max." said Caroline.
"I will mom." Said May.
Norman and Caroline ended their call.
Ash then send Kingler and Pidgeot back and then got his other team back.
"Good luck Ash." Said Professor Oak.
Then the call ended.
Ash then stood up from his seat with his head down and his eyes covered in shadow.
May then stood up as well.
Dante sensed something going through Ash.
"Ash are you ok…" May said before getting cut off by Ash kissing her on the lips.
That surprised May, Pikachu, Nurse Joy and Dante when Ash did that.
When Ash pulled back May was speechless and blushing.
"Thanks May." Said Ash.
"Wow, damn Ash I did not see that coming." Said Dante giving him an eye smile.
"Let's keep it between us." Said Ash and Dante nodded and so did the others.
Dante snapped his fingers and May snapped out of her daze and was still blushing.
"Come on May." Said Ash.
They headed back to the factory while May was still thinking about that kiss Ash gave her.
At the factory Articuno then flew up and flew away and Noland said goodbye and they'll meet up again soon.
Ash goes to do the same to Charizard, though he is burned by Charizard's Flamethrower, which everyone got a good chuckle.
Scott then suggested that for Ash's next battle he should try for the battle arena.
Max looked it up in his PokéNav and said it was not far from here.
"What city is near it?" asked Dante.
"It's near Saffron City." Said Max.
May then got excited as that where the Pokémon contest is and since the battle arena is near it Ash got excited too.
Noland told Ash he can't lose if he keeps doing what he does in battle.
Charizard then flew back to the Charicific Valley and Ash and the others left the battle factory.
"Not bad there Ash." Said Dante.
"Yeah that was awesome!" said Max.
"Pretty amazing for beating Articuno." Added Brock.
"Thanks guys." Said Ash.
May then kissed Ash on the cheek which made Ash blushed, Pikachu giggling, Max groaning and covering his eyes and Brock doing his jealous mode and Dante chuckled as well.
"Well then how about a ride guys?" asked Dante.
"Sure." Said everyone and Ash knew what came next.
"Come on out Onix!" said Dante.
Onix roared as it came out.
"Hop on everyone." Said Dante.
Everyone got on Onix.
"Ok Onix let's go next stop Saffron city." Said Dante.
Onix roared as it moved and headed towards Saffron for May's contest and the battle arena for Ash's next battle.
What no-one noticed except Pikachu and Dante was that May put her hand on Ash's and he took it which made her blushed.
'Smooth move there Ash, I have a feeling that a lot of girls will be falling under your spell soon.' Dante thought.
"After a long hard fought battle Ash is awarded the Knowledge Symbol along with a Frontier Folio to hold his Battle Frontier Symbols and he also earn a bit more May's heart as well, he send Butterfree to be looked after by Norman and Caroline and hopes he gets closure soon, now they're heading for the battle arena and Saffron city for Ash's next battle and May's contest, whatever happens next we'll be there to witness it happen as the journey continues."

OK that ends this long chapter.
Sorry for the wait had a lot on my mind but I got the chapter done.
And before you say anything, yes it's uploaded on April 1st and it's not a joke.
I hoped you liked it.
Now then to explain some things.
In the chapter I did my own take of the flaming seismic toss minus the dragon rage I hoped you like it.
Now when I get to chapter 19, everyone arrives in Saffron city, but Ash's Phanpy learns hidden power and May's Squirtle learns Bubble, Water gun, Tackle and then Ice beam. So in case you're wondering yes I am skipping a few episodes to get to the main focus.
Now then Pokémon contests are a little tricky so I ask anyone who knows how to do contests like in the anime and put it fan-fics, I need your help.
In either ch20 or 21 Ash and the others will be heading for the real fighting dojo and that'll be explained later in ch19.
Also I am bringing back a trio that tried to cheat Misty to be a gym leader. Take a guess who.
Also in ch22 I will have a bit Giovanni talking to his grunts about a special mission.
Also Jessie and James pokémon will learn some new moves and yes even Meowth but I am giving him slash and that's it for now.
I hope you like that kiss Ash gave May.
Speaking of which when is May's birthday I was thinking of using 9/20 like her manga counterpart Sapphire. What do you think?
Now when I get to the part where May gets an Eevee egg. The story will stop for now and I'll be working on my take of mastermind of Mirage Pokémon.
