Close to Midnight – Rooftop
Kagome overlooked the surrounding area, the cool night breeze fluttering raven-black tresses. Her gaze was on a specific location, sharp amethyst orbs gleaming with distaste at what her senses were telling her. That high school… There was something really wrong with that high school.
"Lady Kagome?" Archer questioned, materializing right behind the raven haired beauty. His own eyes sought and locked onto the set of buildings that held her attention.
"Do you feel that, Archer?" she replied, voice soft. Lethal.
Thanks to their connection, he did. His lips twisted in disapproval. "I do."
"Is it common?" Kagome then asked. "For a mage to set such a spell, they must be quite merciless… Or is it desperation?" It would definitely take a certain type of person to weave a spell that took human souls. One who had given up their own in order to win the Holy Grail War.
Archer's expression was neutral. "Consuming souls would amplify a Servant's power." His gaze moved to stare at his Master. "However, that is not so for you and I. Your mana is more than enough to sustain me. I have no need of… extra."
"That's good to know." Humming thoughtfully, Kagome turned until their eyes connected. "Let's go to the school, Archer."
He smirked, amused. "I thought you were waiting until they brought the fight to us."
Amethyst eyes sparked with pink lightning. "Yes, but that was before someone decided to use such an underhanded method to gain leverage." Lips thinned. "I'm going to purify that spell into nothing but ash." And possibly the mage that created it.
The way Archer's lips curved was a bit more bloodthirsty. He bowed at the waist, a sense of satisfaction making his blood hum. It was absolutely thrilling to see his normally peaceful Master gear up for battle.
"As you wish, Lady Kagome."

The moment Kagome lifted her hand, the crude spell purified, she knew she wasn't alone. Archer wasn't currently in his physical body, but his presence never left her senses. No, the being she picked up on was one she hadn't come across before. It was another Servant, if she had to guess by the level of magic.
Cautiously, she turned to face the new threat. Amethyst clashed with crimson, an electric spark coursing between the two. Although her expression stayed neutral, the newcomer's shifted into something resembling amused lust.
"Well, well, well," Lancer hummed, lazily trailing his eyes over the raven haired beauty. "You're definitely not what I expected." He smirked. "Lady Kagome." His head tilted the slightest bit in a bow of greeting.
Kagome narrowed her eyes. "Is your Master the one who placed this spell?" Her tone held authority, demanding an answer without having to raise her voice. Her hackles rose in preparation of a fight.
Lady Kagome. Archer's voice sounded within her head, but she ignored it in favor of keeping her attention on the enemy. In any case, she could handle herself.
Lancer gave a careless shrug. He easily flowed to his feet from his crouched position, his spear moving expertly within his hands. "What can I say? My Master is a coward," was all he said in response.
"A coward, indeed." Distaste colored her voice. She had nothing against the Servant. As Archer liked to frequently tell her, he was merely the tool assisting in any way his Master chose.
With a swiftness that was supernatural, the blue clad Servant jumped and landed in front of the raven haired beauty, standing a little too close to be considered polite. The way Kagome didn't flinch nor step back had Lancer smirking, clearly excited and amused.
"I would much rather have you as my Master, Lady Kagome." Slowly, to show he wasn't being threatening, Lancer lifted one hand to gently caress her cheek. "Just give the command and I would be faithfully yours in a heartbeat."
"You're a rather charming Servant," she commented. Inwardly, she felt Archer's hackles bristling, not liking the close proximity of the other male. She casually pushed Lancer's hand away. "But then again, so is Archer."
Suddenly, Archer materialized between the two, putting more distance between Kagome and Lancer. He scowled at the other male, a curved blade appearing in one hand as an obvious threat to do bodily harm.
In response, Lancer's smirk widened though he didn't lift his spear in defense. "I can be more than just charming," he said, still speaking to Kagome despite the other Servant's appearance. "I would happily sacrifice myself to protect you and to ensure you win the Holy Grail War."
Archer scoffed. "M'Lady is not interested in victory. Your intentions are misplaced. You should go back to your Master." And stay there, he mentally added. His body stiffened, muscles clenching, ready to drive off the other Servant. Or kill him. Whichever came first.
Kagome placed a hand on Archer's arm, halting his actions. She stepped far enough to the side to get a clear view of the spear-wielder. Her expression was contemplative, and Archer knew he wouldn't like what was coming.
"Sacrificing yourself for me is unnecessary. But… how would you feel about forming an alliance?"
In response, a charming smile formed on Lancer's face even as Archer's scowl deepened.
Sometimes, he really hated being right.
