KH*NG*KH*NG
"Your Psycho-Pass is starting to cloud."
Tell him something he didn't know.
"It's quite concerning, especially with the job you have."
Yeah, he'd seen it all before, too, with others who had fallen from grace. His best friend and former partner. His father. It was a type of betrayal he could never forgive them for.
"Do you have anyone you could speak to? Someone you're close to and can trust."
Wasn't that why he had agreed to this counseling session? So that he could 'talk things out,' thus saving his sanity? His Psycho-Pass? Being able to communicate with another human being and knowing you could trust that one person was supposed to be therapeutic. Being able to share the burden of one's everyday life – the ability to be vulnerable – was supposed to be good for the soul.
Deep down, however, he figured the therapist wanted to save her own Psycho-Pass by passing his troubles onto someone else. He could only imagine what subjects people in his line of work spoke about, what horrors they revealed. It was nightmare-inducing at best. He had his own demons to deal with and work through, after all. How could he expect a complete stranger to understand?
So Nobuchika Ginoza decided to lie.
"No. No, I don't really have anyone to confide in."
It was his business and not anyone else's.
KH*NG*KH*NG
A quiet, feminine giggle escaped the young woman sprawled on dark, silk sheets. Dressed in one of his white dress shirts and not much else, the rest of their clothes lay scattered throughout the apartment. Warmth filled his chest at the sound, and he sat up in bed to get a better look at his lover.
"What's so funny, Kagome?" Ginoza inquired. His glasses were long gone but he had perfect vision when it came to her. It also made it easier to see the tenderness that entered his gaze and softened his expression.
"You only come to visit me when you need comforting," she answered, smiling cheerfully. A certain gleam entered her amethyst eyes, one that bespoke of darkness and… a little insanity. The way her delicate hand caressed his cheek was almost mocking. She purred, "Did someone upset my dear, sweet Nobuchika?"
He sighed and moved away from her touch. Their relationship was complicated. It was one that shouldn't even be possible. And yet, here I am once again. As an Inspector, it was his sole duty to uphold justice and bring criminals down. He took pride being in Division 1. He was determined not to end up like Kogami and his father.
And yet…
Kagome's soft voice, like sweet poison, whispered, "Would you like me to kill someone for you?"
Ginoza jerked, a physical rejection to her offer. Their relationship was complicated, yes, because he'd been the one to keep Kagome out of prison. They had met during a case, and something about the raven haired beauty had ensnared him. Her Psycho-Pass had been the darkest he had ever witnessed, yet he hadn't taken her in.
Instead, he'd kept her as his little secret. His one dark splotch on an otherwise impeccable record.
"No?" Kagome continued, and there a distinctive pout in her tone. It turned bright as sunshine in the next second. "Alright then. Maybe next time. I'm hungry. I think I still have some pocky somewhere around here."
Ginoza watched as Kagome rolled out of bed and, humming, exited the bedroom. He sighed again. He really didn't understand the connection they shared, but it was there. His heart always gave an agonizingly tender pang when he looked at her. Something utterly feral awakened whenever he thought of her possibly being locked up; being somewhere he could not reach.
He knew she had killed before. He'd seen the reports, the evidence. He didn't honestly know if she was still killing – didn't want to know. All he knew was that Kagome had decided he was hers, like how he considered her as his.
His thoughts drifted to his conversation with the counselor from earlier. Maybe she had a point. While he didn't normally confide in Kagome with words, perhaps speaking to her about his troubles would keep his Psycho-Pass from clouding further. His inner-most demons – the ones that wanted cold, hard justice, wanted to spill blood without mercy – would finally have an outlet. If there was anyone who would understand his violent tendencies, it would be Kagome. On a very real, very visceral level, they had always understood each other since the day they had first met. Why wouldn't she understand him now?
Dressed in loose lounging pants, Ginoza exited the bedroom in search of his lover. He didn't have far to go, finding the raven haired beauty happily munching on her treat at the small dining room table.
Kagome smiled, a single pocky stick poking out of her mouth. "Did you change your mind?" Her eyes positively twinkled with hope and bloodlust.
"No," Ginoza answered this time without so much as a flinch. He sat across from her, gaze intent.
"Want to go another round?"
The offer was met with a small smile that twitched the corner of his lips. Whether it was having a conversation about murder or sex, he never could tell what she preferred, though he supposed it depended on what her mood was.
"Maybe later."
She held up the box with the remaining chocolate-covered biscuit treats. The one still in her mouth bobbed up and down as she spoke. "Pocky?"
In response, he leaned forward until he could nip the pocky stick in her mouth in half. The intimate gesture was met with a soft giggle from Kagome, and Ginoza's expression became tender with affection.
"I wanted to speak to you about something," he said.
Curious, she tilted her head to the side. "What is it, Nobuchika?"
He took a deep breath, deciding it was now or never. "My Psycho-Pass is starting to cloud…"
All of you make me so happy~
