Chapter 088: Hisoka Morow

Prompt: Cherry pie cookies

Casually dressed in a white, long-sleeved dress shirt, black slacks, matching leather boots, and his flaming-red hair loose around his shoulders, Hisoka lightly smirked as he entered a now-familiar bakery he'd come to favor in the last few weeks.

The game he currently played was becoming more and more entertaining. Although he didn't particularly enjoy the costume he had to wear, he saw the practicality behind it. It made blending-in easier among the normal civilians and he wouldn't like it if the other members of the Phantom Troupe interrupted his little game by following him.

It would be a shame to kill them too early.

Hisoka's golden eyes tracked the bakery's occupants, instantly zeroing-in on a certain raven haired beauty working behind the counter. His smirk morphed into bloodlust, the edges of his lips curving with delirious joy.

"Ahh, Kagome-chan," he purred. "So good to run into you again."

Said young woman gave the Magician a deadpanned stare. "I work here, Hisoka," she needlessly pointed out. Her guard was obviously up, amethyst eyes narrowed suspiciously. The expression she wore thrilled Hisoka, causing shivers of pleasure to course up and down his spine. "Since you're here, I'm assuming you want the usual?"

Hisoka chuckled. "Unless you're finally offering yourself to me?"

She scowled – and even that expression was delightful. "Don't make me kick you out – again." Her eyes trailed up and down his body, the look unflattering. "But I think you'd like that."

That had been the start of his attraction. He'd made a comment that had been a little too suggestive, and Kagome had responded by escorting him out of the bakery. The fact that she had been able to catch him off guard and had managed to wound him had instantly piqued his interest. Like a moth to a flame, he hadn't been able to resist staying away.

The aura she exuded had also made him curious. He'd traveled extensively throughout his life, yet he'd never come across one such as hers. He wouldn't mind a more thorough examination of it – and her.

"I'll be at my usual table." Hisoka smiled charmingly, a hint of sadism mixed in. "Please, take your time, Kagome-chan."

In response, the raven haired beauty waved him off dismissively. The Magician couldn't help but chuckle again. The more time he spent with her, the more intrigued he became.

"Here you go. Your cherry pie cookies," Kagome announced. She placed a delicate plate with three perfectly shaped cookies in front of Hisoka. "And your complimentary cup of tea." The fragrant cup was also placed down with an elegant flourish. "Enjoy."

However, when she turned to leave, Hisoka easily caught her wrist. It effectively halted her movements, and Kagome glanced back at the male with a raised brow.

"Did you want to order something else, Hisoka?"

Hisoka smiled, golden eyes watching her carefully. "How about you join me for dinner tonight, Kagome-chan?"

She scoffed. "Every day you ask me the same thing, and I always answer the same way: No, thank you." She tugged on the captured appendage. "Now, let me go."

The way he squeezed was meaningful, catching her undivided attention. Gold and amethyst clashed, the air between them becoming heavy with rising tension. Electricity was practically sparking between the two.

Hisoka, smile widening, finally let Kagome go. But she didn't immediately leave. It was her turn to watch him carefully for any sudden moves. He picked up a cherry pie cookie, bringing the treat up to his mouth.

"For you, I would wait an eternity. And when I do finally get you, Kagome-chan…" His smile was alluring and deadly. "I will never let you go."

And he took his first bite.
