Chapter 16
Four Years Later...
Tails, now ten-years-old, sighed as he looked up at the clouds. Despite how things had been going the past four years, he no longer felt like he fit in with the others no matter what they said. Despite nobody treating him any differently, he felt like the enemy and it made him begin to keep away from the Freedom Fighters more and more.
Tails transformed his right arm into a three-barreled Plasma Cannon and smiled a bit before reverting it to his regular arm. Being a robot did have some advantages and he was somewhat thankful to both Robotnik (and later Eggman) for making him with the ability to grow, feel, eat, drink, sleep because otherwise...he wouldn't be who he was and overall, the whole concept confused him to no end despite his IQ and he was wondering how Robotnik managed to do it in the first place.
A shadow loomed over him and he looked up into the eyes of Tails Doll, also called TD for short.
"Are you gonna respond to Sally's calls or are you just going to ignore her?" asked TD, tilting his head as his gem turned yellow.
"Why are you so nosy?" said Tails sitting up.
"I'm one of your best friends besides, I'm not nosy, I'm curious. You hardly hang out with Sonic, you hardly even talk to anyone aside from me and Eggman. You're becoming distant from others, why?" said TD hovering around Tails with a questioning look on his face.
"Well...I feel like I no longer fit in." said Tails, scratching his neck nervously.
"That's why? You're becoming distant because you feel different now? Tails, we've gone over this a thousand times within the past four years, you're not different. Look at me, I'm an animated doll that terrorizes Robotnik and his robots for fun. Shade is the 'Ultimate Life Form'. Sonic is able to break the sound barrier without trying. And then there's our inter-dimensional friends. Quit letting the concept that you're a machine get to you. You won't betray your friends, Miles made sure of that when we first came here, remember?"
"Barely. I was four-years-old, remember?"
"Yeah, I remember. Come on, Sally said something about Rotor making some kind of invention to turn Robians back into Mobians." said TD pulling on Tails' hand.
"Alright, alright. I'm coming." said Tails getting up completely before he started spinning his tails and flew towards Rotor's lab with TD following.
Rotor's Lab; Thirty Minutes Later...
TD sighed in boredom as Rotor yammered on and on about something about the machine and the doll hovered over to one of the components of the machine and reached out for it with a claw because of the bright color. (Now, let me explain something here; TD despite his age is more like a little kid with his curiosity)
"TD, stop!" said Rotor after noticing the doll reaching for one of the important pieces of the machine but...
*EXPLOSION!*
...too little, too late.
*Sounds of coughing*
Tails threw a large chunk of debris off of himself and those around him and found the entire lab demolished along with the machine yet his sensors couldn't find any sign of TD. The sound of rubble falling alerts everyone as a fox-like figure emerges from some rubble, clutching his head.
"Ugh...guys? I feel funny..." said the fox and their eyes widened upon seeing the gem he had atop his head, the red eyes, and stitched up arms, shoulders, legs, and knees. The fox's claws were sharp and extending from the ruined remains of gloves. The fox then noticed their shocked stares.
"What are you guys looking at?" said the fox, as he raised an eyebrow.
"Um...TD?" said Sonic nervously.
"Yeah?"
"Just look in ze mirror." said Antoine walking over with a somewhat shattered mirror and TD looked into it and saw his face and body...
Ten seconds Later...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" screamed TD causing nearby birds in the trees to take flight and his scream was also heard in Robotropolis causing Robotnik to jump, messing up the scientist's experiment, causing it to explode violently in his face.
