Chapter 33: Grid Connection Part 2
There was a tense quiet over the two Ranger teams. Jeremy, Ivan and Koda bounced between the two teams, making sure that everyone was doing okay despite the dire circumstances. Everyone was nursing some form of injury, especially those who had lost their Energems, and the Dino Charge Rangers in particular looked worn out.
"How's the head?" Jeremy asked Ravi, who was sitting on a fallen branch as he tried to fight the impulse to pace.
"It's fine," the Blue Ranger smiled thankfully at him, and Jeremy nodded. "When was the last time you guys actually rested?" Ravi realised, and Jeremy shrugged before taking a seat.
"I think it was just before the Greenzillas hatched around the world," he considered, and stretched. "Wow, it really has been a busy day," Jeremy chuckled, and Ravi snorted.
"No kidding," he agreed, before letting out a sigh. "I hope Ryne gets back soon," Ravi muttered, looking around for any sign of their Pink Ranger.
"She's a tough kid, she'll be fine," Jeremy grinned, patting his shoulder before getting to his feet with a groan. "I just want to know what these guys are planning," he murmured. Ravi nodded.
"I hope Devon gets here soon," he muttered under his breath as Jeremy walked over to check on Riley, who was rubbing his shoulder but otherwise looked okay. They needed backup, and Ravi prayed their leader had a plan. They were hopelessly outgunned, and having travelled into the past to a crucial time for the Dino Charge Rangers, he knew there was a lot at stake.
Arms folded as she leaned her shoulder against a tree, Teddie kept watch on their surroundings for any sign of either their friends, or foes. Her mind was whirling with thoughts of everything that was going on. Not only did they have to worry about Sledge, Ryan and the Dark Energem, but robots from the future who had already stolen several of their Energems for purposes that not even the future Rangers knew.
'Future Rangers…' Teddie huffed, rubbing the back of her neck. 'Generation after generation of Ranger. My own…' her ears turned red as she thought about the quiet, sharp girl who led the Beast Morphers team. 'My own daughter. A Ranger too. Guess I'll know what mum went through,' she thought wryly, keeping her eyes on the trees around her. A fog was starting to creep in, bringing a chill with it.
"Are you okay?" she glanced over her shoulder at the question, having heard the heavy footsteps approaching her. Teddie tilted her head up, looking at the half-robot Steel. He quirked his head to the side in a very human expression, and it made her smile.
"I'm fine. Just keeping watch for my brother and the others," she said, turning back to the trees. "So this is just a normal thing for you guys?" Teddie asked, and Steel moved to stand beside her in his attempt to watch as well.
"Which part?" he asked.
"All of it, I guess?" Teddie laughed. "The time travel, fighting enemies that were reanimated, robots doing crazy stuff?" she listed.
"This is our second time travelling through time!" Steel declared, and if he had a human body, Teddie knew he'd be puffing out his chest with pride. The thought made her smile widen. "The first time was-oh," he stopped, realising. "It was the future for you," he remembered, and Teddie cocked her head.
"That's…really confusing," she told him, and Steel nodded.
"It was for us too, especially working with Calvin only the next day," he said. Whoever Calvin was, she had no idea, and it showed on her face. "Right, yes, the future," Steel remembered again. "We're used to fighting enemies from Ranger history, that's been happening for a while now. And Evox and his robos are always doing crazy stuff," he nodded.
"Every time I think I have a grasp on you Rangers, I'm proven wrong," they looked at Heckyl as he leaned against the tree beside Teddie. Her gaze softened, and she smiled at him. "Please tell me that none of that made sense to you," he said.
"None whatsoever," Teddie confessed. Steel groaned. "I figured we were nearing our endgame," she admitted, not looking up as she thought about what he said. "My friend is under the control of the Dark Energem, and we just beat Snide - not that it seemed to stick," she rolled her eyes and her hand went to her neck, where a bruise was healing. Heckyl gave a quiet snort. "But now, with all this? It feels like it's never going to end," she gave a quiet, bitter laugh.
"But it is!" Steel's exclamation made her jump. "You're so close to defeating Sledge and destroying the Dark Energem, I learned all about it in Ranger History," he told her as Teddie blinked rapidly up at him.
"Destroying the Dark Energem?" Heckyl repeated, looking incredulous at the very suggestion. Steel just nodded.
"Steel, be careful," both Heckyl and the Silver Ranger started at Ryne's voice. Teddie just glanced at her, having sensed her approach. "We can't give too many spoilers about the future. We can't risk changing anything," the Pink Ranger warned as Chase and Tyler caught up to them. "Uncle Spence will lecture us again," she pointed out, and Teddie snorted.
"Some things never change," she muttered, and turned her attention to her brother as he smiled at her in reassurance.
"What's happening?" Shelby asked as she jumped to her feet. Tyler reached for her, pulling his girlfriend closer.
"They're making a monster," Chase warned. "From what we can tell, using a similar method to how Shelby made the Tupux Zord," he said as the tense air grew heavier over the two teams.
"If they use your Energems to create a monster…that thing will be near unstoppable," Heckyl considered, all too aware of the power they contained. "Only something like the Dark Energem would be strong enough to take it down," he said, and Teddie reached out to take his hand, squeezing it gently.
"I'm worried about why they're using the DNA from several dinosaurs," Ryne voiced, and Chase nodded.
"That doesn't sound good at all," James muttered, arms folded.
"Depending on their choice of dinosaurs, they could build themselves a truly fearsome monster," Kendall spoke up, and they turned to the Purple Ranger. "The ferocity of a t-rex, the strength of a triceratops, the agility of a pterodactyl…" she shivered at the potential that such a monster would be capable of.
"Really wish I had a carrot right about now," Zoey mumbled miserably, hating how dire their circumstances were becoming.
The clap of thunder behind the group made them whirl around, and their breath caught as they saw a wormhole opening up behind them.
"Devon?" Nate asked hopefully, before two figures leapt out. Devon held Nate and Steel's blasters in his hands as he surveyed his surroundings quickly, spotting his friends, but they were all distracted by the man standing with them.
In a red shirt under a blue flannel, the man was recognisable to everyone there, and they couldn't help but stare at Jason, the original Red Ranger.
"Man, are we glad to see you!" Zoey rushed over and hugged Devon tightly.
"Same here," he said as he hugged her back.
"Better late than never," Ryne told him as Zoey released him. He smiled faintly, hugging her too. "Glad you're here, fearless leader. And you really had to show off with your backup, huh?" she said as she stepped back and lightly punched his arm.
"Aren't you…" Ravi breathed, stunned as he stared at the man with Devon.
"I'm Jason," the Red Ranger grinned, shaking his hand.
"We don't have time for introductions," Tyler warned, despite his own awe. "Evox is creating a monster, using the power of our Energems," he told them. Devon's eyes widened, and Jason frowned.
Devon had explained some of their predicament to the Red Ranger when he had summoned him, using the power of the meteor that contained Jason's Power Coin. It had called Jason from his own time, and he was more than happy to help stop Goldar Maximus.
"You'll need these," Devon handed over the blasters to Nate, who took them gratefully. Jason then handed over three new Morphers to Zoey, Ravi and Ryne. "And here," he pulled out familiar devices that were glowing with faint green energy. "Dino Chargers from our vault, recharged with Morph-X," he explained as he handed them over to Tyler.
"Whoa," Olivia breathed as she took one and held it up. "What the hell is Morph-X?" she wondered, baffled.
"Too long to explain," Ryne shook her head. "It's not as effective as your Energems, but it'll get the job done," she said.
"That's all I need to know," Jeremy grinned, flipping his Charger in his hand.
"Devon, you take your team around the back," Jason suggested.. "I'll lead the rest of us on a frontal attack," he said, and they all nodded.
"Old-school, I like it," Devon grinned, and reached up to bump his fist against his predecessor's.
"I'll go with them," Heckyl gestured, and Teddie cocked her head. "Something tells me I'll be better suited with them," he said, and she nodded.
"Okay. Be careful," Teddie told him, ignoring her brother's long-suffering sigh.
"Let's go," Devon took charge, leading his team away.
"This is just the weirdest day," Teddie complained.
While the Beast Morphers team took a quieter approach, the Dino Charge team followed Jason out of the woods and towards the old quarry. It was eerily quiet, but all of them were on guard for any number of their enemies that might choose to show up.
"We're going to have to scale that cliff," Jason considered as he looked around, just as wary for his old foe to show up.
The multiple flashes of purple took them by surprise, as a massive hoard of footsoldiers appeared from seemingly nowhere, accompanied by some powerful looking monsters.
"At last!" Goldar Maximus snarled as he stood with Tronics, Putties and Vivix, as well as the robo-clones. "The Power Rangers have come to meet their end!" he declared.
"Urgh," Olivia rolled her eyes. "Why do they have to yell?" the Forest Ranger complained.
"So you're Goldar Maximus, huh?" Jason addressed the monster in gold plated armour. He allowed himself the smallest of smirks as Goldar Maximus let out a soft snarl, his eyes on his former foe. "I hope you're a lot tougher than the last one we defeated," he said.
"Oh, I am!" his taunt had the desired effect as Goldar Maximus roared at him. "And I brought an army too!" he declared.
"Army?" Jason scoffed, taking a single step forwards. "That's not an army," he said, holding up the Power Coin he'd been holding onto.
"Huh?! A Power Coin?!" the monster recognised it as Jason flipped it into the air. As it reached its apex, a ripple of power exploded from it, and the others swore they heard the roar of a tyrannosaurus. Jason then caught it, and three more portals opened behind the Rangers. "What is that?!" Goldar Maximus demanded, watching as the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers leapt from the first portal, already Morphed.
"Oh boy," Teddie groaned as from the second portal, four Dino Thunder Rangers leapt through. They ran forwards, standing with the others.
"I have to say, this is highly unusual," the Blue Mighty Morphin' Ranger, Billy, commented as he looked at the different teams.
"I agree," the familiar voice belonging to Ari had most of the Dino Charge Rangers unable to stop themselves from looking at the Gold Dino Thunder Ranger. She had her hands on her hips, tilting her head.
"Uh…if this called Dino Ranger teams, then what's with that third portal?" Jeremy asked, and all of them turned their heads curiously to the final portal. A beat later, five more Rangers leapt through.
"Sorry for the delay," their Red Ranger called as he led them over to their team.
"Yeah, we had a bit of a debate over which of our team would come," the Pink Ranger laughed as the Blue Ranger just sighed a weary sigh.
"Now this?" Jason called as they all turned to the battle at hand. "This is an army!" he declared proudly. Goldar Maximus gave a frustrated, angry snarl.
"It won't be when we're done, Jason!" he promised.
"IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!"
"UNLEASH THE POWER!"
"TYRANNOSAURUS!"
Jason and the Dino Charge Rangers Morphed, all of them ready to fight.
"Rangers forever, defenders together!"
"Destroy them!" Goldar Maximus ordered, flinging an arm forwards. The hoard of footsoldiers charged forwards at his command, and the fighting broke out.
"I still don't entirely understand what's going on here…" Connor admitted as he cut through the Vivix trying to surround him.
"Just here?" Ari giggled.
"Hey…" he complained, and Ethan's laughter could be heard nearby.
"What matters is you heard the call, just like we all did," they looked around as the unfamiliar White Ranger charged past. Forgoing the Sabres that most of the others of his team wielded, he instead had silver gauntlets over his gloves, so when he delivered a powerful punch, the shockwave took out a small group of the monsters.
"Dino Rangers throughout history," Olivia considered as she fought nearby.
"History, and the future," the White Ranger chuckled, and delivered another powerful punch. "Dino Fury White, at your service," he introduced himself with a bow.
"Dino Fury?" it was Robo-Asher who repeated the name, and the White Ranger turned to block her strike.
"That's right," he said cheerfully, easily forcing her backwards. "That means that whatever you're planning here, isn't going to work!" the White Ranger declared, and slammed his fists together. The pulse of power rippled, travelling up his arms, and he charged at Robo-Asher with more powerful attacks.
"That style, I know it," the robot growled as she was forced on the defensive, blocking strike after strike.
"And I'll take you out before you figure out how," the White Ranger promised. He charged forwards, and Robo-Asher gave a yell as she brought up a shimmering shield in front of her.
"What?" Ari gasped as she recognised it as her own, before the White Ranger smashed through both the shield and Robo-Asher, destroying her in a powerful final strike. "Uh…since when do the bad guys have my powers?" she demanded.
"Oh, I know that one!" Jeremy cheered as he bounced past, blasting enemy after enemy. "That was an evil robotic clone of one of your granddaughters!" he told her.
"My what?"
"Her what?!" the rest of the Dino Thunder Rangers demanded.
"Seriously, Jeremy?" Teddie shouted at her friend. "Try not to mess up my history, will you?" she shouted as she stood with him, using her blaster to take out more Vivix. "Wait, her what?" Teddie then realised the full implication, and turned to Jeremy.
"What, you want me to tell you now?" Jeremy was giggling, already running away. Teddie shouted and ran after him, straight towards Snide.
"You know, I suddenly understand so much more," the Pink Dino Fury Ranger said, and the White Ranger shrugged.
The tide was turning in favour of the Rangers, as Robo-Roxy also went down, and with help from the Dino Thunder Rangers, Teddie and Jeremy were able to destroy Snide once again.
"Good riddance, creep," Teddie growled, and Jeremy patted her shoulder in comfort.
"Snide too?!" Robo-Blaze gave an angry shout. "I better go warn Evox…" he took off, leaving the fight to the rest.
Scrozzle was giggling with glee as he clutched the six stolen Energems.
"This is history in the making, master!" he announced as they continued to shimmer brightly in his hands. "No-one has ever used Energems to create a monster!" Scrozzle laughed as he tossed them into the geode. Their glow grew stronger as they were surrounded by extra materials and DNA, along with the natural resonance of the crystal of the geode itself.
"And I'm the genius who did!" Evox bragged.
"I mean…I did some of the work," Scrozzle tried, only to be shoved aside as the geode sealed itself.
"Finally, a monster worthy of me. The Chimera!" as soon as Evox made his declaration, several bolts of energy exploded against the table, almost knocking the geode off.
"Step away from the geode," Devon warned as Scrozzle shrieked and shied away.
"You fools, it's too late to stop me now!" Evox taunted, and threw out his hand. A burst of power exploded out, hitting the group and sending them to the ground.
"Master Evox!" Robo-Blaze shouted as he reached them. "The Rangers have taken out Roxy, Asher and Snide! They're winning!" he warned desperately.
"Not for long," Evox was unaffected by the warning. "Time for this monster's final ingredient. My own warrior's spirit," he turned back to the geode and held up his staff, which began to glow purple. The power passed to the geode, which began to shudder and fell off the table. "Yes, at last, the process is almost complete! Finish these fools while I handle the rest," Evox ordered his remaining servant as he lifted the geode and stalked off.
"It would be my greatest honour," Robo-Blaze told him.
"Oh, really?" Devon called, and the robot turned to them. He inhaled sharply as he found not only Devon on his feet and aiming the Ultra Bow at him, but both Ryne and Heckyl channelling their powers. "Power Bolt!" Devon shouted, letting the arrow loose at the same time that the two blasted Robo-Blaze. He didn't even have the chance to scream, falling forwards and exploding.
"Really, that was who he expected to finish you?" Heckyl turned to Ryne, an eyebrow arched. "I think that other robot might have done a better job," he said, and she snorted.
"If Scrozzle wasn't a massive coward, maybe," she said. "We better follow Evox, before that Chimera hatches and causes a whole heap more problems for everyone," Ryne said, turning to the others.
"Right. Let's go," Devon nodded.
"I'll never surrender to Rangers!" the angry declaration of Goldar Maximus carried through the quarry.
As the Beast Morpher Rangers finished off Robo-Blaze and took off after Evox, the combined forces of four Dino Ranger teams stood strong against Goldar Maximus.
"Alright team!" Jason's shout carried with determination. "Destroy him!"
Each team called on their weapons, and with their full power sent a powerful blast at Goldar Maximus, destroying him in a massive explosion that left nothing behind but glittering dust.
"That was incredible," the Silver Dino Fury Ranger laughed as she looked up at what remained of the diamonds that had powered up Goldar Maximus, which were carried off in the breeze.
"I don't think we get to chill just yet," her Pink teammate warned as they heard footsteps and looked around, just in time to see Evox striding towards where Goldar Maximus had fallen.
"Evox!" Tyler growled.
"That's Evox?" the Blue Dino Fury Ranger hissed.
"Oh, you naive Rangers," Evox taunted, holding the geode in his hands. The shimmering purple glow was growing brighter, and all of them could feel the power within. "The fight hasn't yet begun! Prepare to meet your doom!" with his cackle, he hurled the geode into the air.
"I guess the bad guys always have a lame laugh," Kira commented as she held her Ptera Grips harder, watching the glowing geode.
"Brace yourselves!" Jason shouted, before the geode exploded. A monster grew rapidly from within, landing with a heavy thud on the ground that caused a tremor. It was bulky and snarling, with six different dinosaur heads.
"Oh, gross!" Ari complained.
"Give me Mesogog any day," Ethan shuddered at the sight of the monstrous creature.
"So that's why they used six types of dinosaur DNA," Tyler realised. The Chimera then roared loudly, and energy gathered at the mouths of each head, firing and causing a rapid burst of explosions that knocked them all off their feet.
"Not good," Zack gulped from the ground.
The commotion of explosions could be heard and felt within the forest as the group ran in the direction that Evox had gone in.
"The Chimera, it's hatched," Devon realised in horror.
"We need to get out there and help stop it," Zoey said as the ground shook once again from another blast of power.
"No real plan other than 'stop it'?" they glanced at Heckyl as he ran with them. He looked exasperated. "How I lost to Rangers will haunt me forever," he complained. Ryne barked out a laugh, and he turned his attention to the Pink Ranger. "Something amusing?" he asked, still trying to process the knowledge that she was his future daughter.
"Plenty," she answered simply, before they reached the quarry and slowed to a stop at the sight in front of them. "Right now though…this is just crazy," Ryne said, unable to stop another laugh slipping through as they saw the battle going on before them.
"Mighty Morphin', Dino Thunder and Dino Charge Rangers," Devon laughed in awe at the sight.
"And more. I've never seen that team with them before," Ravi admitted as he saw the Red Dino Fury Ranger use the Hyper Dino Key to force the Chimera back several feet, straight into the path of the attack shot from the Dino Thunder Rangers combined weapons. However, it barely even seemed to leave a scratch on the monster.
"We need to get in there and help," Nate breathed as the monster then threw Ivan aside with ease, knocking him into the Silver Dino Fury Ranger.
"Let's go!" Devon shouted, and they took off.
"Beast-X Cannon!"
"Transport Beast Chakrams!" calling on their weapons, the team joined the fight and knocked the Chimera away before it could fire another round of explosive blasts.
"Good of you to join us," Chase called as Ryne stood beside him, catching her Chakrams as she called them back to her.
"Sorry, we were too late to stop Evox," she apologised, and he patted her head.
"Don't worry about it. We'll stop him here and now," he told her.
"Chase is right," Olivia nodded, firing a blast at the Chimera.
"You're fools!" Evox taunted, knocking Jason away from him. "You stand no chance against the power of my Chimera!" he declared, and swung Keeper's staff. The bolt of energy shot at them, only for the combined powers of two golden balls of light to slam into it, causing it to explode early and create a burst of energy that forced both sides back.
"Uh…what?" Ari glanced at Teddie, who shrugged.
"Don't worry about it?" she tried, and saw her mother huff in annoyance. Teddie grinned a little, enjoying that she could at least cause the same reaction in Ari as her mother did to her far too often.
"You…" Evox turned his glowing eyes on Teddie, who cocked her head. "I see now…this is perfect!" he declared. "Chimera, destroy them!" he ordered, and the Chimera roared once again with such volume it rumbled through them.
The fighting broke out once again, with the chaos of five Ranger teams working together to stop both Evox and his monster. Chimera was proving to be powerful, with the strength of six Energems and Evox's warrior spirit carrying him.
"Whoa!" Ryne gasped as the Velociraptor head bit at her, snapping its jaws dangerously close to her shoulder.
"I've got you!" she was surprised when the blade that stopped the monster belonged to the Blue Dino Fury Ranger, who grunted as he pushed at it. The Pteradactyl and Parasaur heads snapped too, trying to get to him, only for blasts to hit from Kimberly's Power Bow and Chase's blaster.
"Thanks," Ryne told the Blue Ranger as they stepped back. He reached out to touch her shoulder, only to catch himself as she tilted her head.
"Uh, right, yeah, no problem," he stammered, seeming embarrassed before hurrying off to fight the Chimera with his teammates.
"So smooth, brainiac," the Silver Ranger taunted him as she brought her blade down on the Chimera's T-Rex head in the centre. It roared in pain, only to be cut off as a punch from the White Ranger knocked the Chimera backwards.
"Shut up, Princess," the Blue Ranger bit, and a tremor of annoyance ran through his teammate.
"Don't call me that!" she shouted as the Silver Ranger laughed.
"Whoever these guys are, they're weird," Steel commented from beside Ryne, who hummed.
"Yeah, but there's something familiar about them," she admitted, before shaking her head. "Whatever, we need to keep fighting," Ryne said, and Steel joined her as they charged forwards.
"Pathetic attempt, little Ranger!" Evox mocked as Teddie crashed to the ground with a cry. Her body ached, but she refused to give up. Evox knocked aside Connor and Billy, turning back to Teddie again as she pushed herself up. "Stay down!" Keeper's staff began to glow, and her eyes widened. Before he could fire the attack, blue energy arced towards him and blasted Evox off his feet with a furious yell.
"You alright?" Heckyl asked as he helped Teddie to her feet.
"I'm fine, thanks," she nodded, smiling faintly. "This guy gives me the creeps, and he seems real focused on me," Teddie admitted as she glanced over to where her swords had been dropped.
"Making friends I see," Heckyl said, and she shrugged.
"I make friends just fine, you'd know," he rolled his eyes at her words. He let the power in his hand charge up again as Evox snarled and got back up.
"Your attacks are useless!" he shouted, stabbing Keeper's staff forwards to send a bolt of power at them. Heckyl threw out his own power, fighting against it, and grit his teeth as he felt Evox's strength overpowering his own.
Until a hand rested on his arm, and warmth spread from where it touched him. Instantly he felt his strength grow to incredible heights, and he poured it into his attack. Evox screeched as this time he was sent flying, crashing into Chimera so both of them tumbled to the ground.
"How did you do that?" Heckyl asked, looking at Ryne as she let go of his arm.
"You'll find out soon enough," she said, cryptic, before raising her Morpher to her mouth. "Ashe, is it ready yet?" Ryne asked.
'Ready and waiting! Whatever you're doing, it sounds crazy,' Asher warned, the connection crackling. Ryne grinned, and pressed the button on her chest.
"Transport!" she called before holding out her hand. A long handled hammer appeared, allowing her to grab it. It was heavy, almost carrying the small Pink Ranger with it as she swung the white and green hammer. "Here you go. This might do you better," Ryne offered the hammer to Teddie, whose eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Really?" she reached out and took it, before inhaling in surprise. "Why does it feel like I know this thing?" Teddie asked, baffled as she swung the hammer with a lot more ease than Ryne had.
"Like I said, you'll find out soon enough," Ryne told her, and Teddie rolled her eyes.
"Foolish brats!" Evox yelled as he recovered, but his robotic body was smoking. "How can you think that you have any chance of defeating my all-powerful Chimera?" he demanded.
"Because that's what we do!" Jason shouted as the Rangers all stood together. The Chimera snarled.
"That monster might have the power of six Energems," Chase started.
"But we have power of twelve!" Koda declared, clapping a hand to his chest.
"Nothing can take us down!" Shelby shouted.
"I don't know what that monster is made of," Connor started as he stood with them. "But we're not going to back down. We're Rangers, and we'll destroy your monster together," he declared.
"Well said," the Red Dino Fury Ranger nodded. "No matter what time we're from, we don't give up," he said, and his team nodded.
"Certainly not to creepy things like that," the Pink Dino Fury Ranger said.
"I hear that," Kimberly laughed.
"You can't even defeat us when it's just one Ranger team, Evox," Devon pointed out. "Now we have five teams working together," Evox growled at the very idea.
"All this grandstanding…being a Ranger sounds exhausting," Heckyl muttered, only loud enough that Teddie and Jeremy heard him. Teddie elbowed him as Jeremy snorted.
"Let's end this!" Jason shouted, and power began to flow from every Ranger standing there.
"Fire!" they yelled, aiming their powers and weapons at the monster. Feeling the sheer strength behind it, Evox gave a yell of utter fury before vanishing in a flash of purple, leaving the Chimera to be destroyed by the power that shook the ground for miles to come.
When the smoke finally cleared, the monster was gone, leaving nothing but six glimmering Energems behind, and they cheered at their victory.
"Thanks for responding to my call," Devon thanked Jason as the five teams all stood together. All but the Dino Fury Rangers had demorphed, refusing to mess with the timeline any further.
"No problem," Jason nodded, but he had a look of concern on his face. "That Evox…he was tough," he considered.
"I don't think you've seen the last of him," Connor warned.
"We can handle Evox," Zoey said confidently.
"But we couldn't have stopped his army today without all of your help. Thanks," Ryne spoke up, and Jeremy chuckled, ruffling her hair. She swatted him away. "You're as bad as Lewis," she grumbled, missing the quiet laughs from the Dino Fury team.
"We appreciate it too," Tyler spoke up. "Including how you helped us get our Energems back," he said, holding the Red Energem tightly in his hand.
"Not to mention Keeper's staff," Teddie commented, looking at the staff in Keeper's hands. "Or at least, future Keeper's staff," she said, and groaned. "This is too confusing," she complained.
"You're telling me," Ari agreed, hands on her hips as she looked from Teddie, to Chase. She didn't miss the familiarity in both of them.
"Uh…you guys can use another spell, right?" Ryne asked Chase warily. He grinned.
"Not a problem for us, right?" he nudged his sister, who grumbled under her breath but nodded. She eyed the hammer in Ryne's hands, as the Pink Ranger managed to convince her to hand it back over. Using it in battle had been incredible, and Teddie remembered how much she'd enjoyed using a hammer in her training growing up.
"Just don't overdo it," Ravi warned them. "You guys still have a lot on your plate," he reminded the Dino Charge team, and they nodded.
"We appreciate your concern, but we've made it this far," James grinned.
"We won't fail now," Philip agreed.
"This is just too weird," they heard the complaint from the Silver Dino Fury Ranger, who shook her head. Their leader chuckled as the White Ranger patted her shoulder.
"The Ranger legacy is growing stronger, with allies like you all," the Red Dino Fury Ranger told them.
"The Grid Battleforce team is proof of that," Chase agreed, and the team gave embarrassed smiles.
"Rangers forever," Jason called, raising a fist to the air.
"Defending together!"
With that, the teams began to disperse.
"Reefside awaits!" Connor told his team as their portals began to open for them.
"So many questions," Ari shook her head, looking at Chase and Teddie again. They exchanged grins. "But it's been awesome. Later dudes!" she called, following her team through their portal.
"It was an honour to fight with you all," Zayto said as their own portal opened.
"Thanks for all your help," Tyler grinned. Feeling a shiver run down her spine, she turned to the Blue Ranger, who jolted as she caught him watching her.
"We better go, come on!" he practically sprinted for the portal.
"It's nice to see he's as big an idiot when it comes to her as ever," the Zandarian lilt of the Silver Ranger was mixed with giggles, and for a moment, Philip went to question it, but she was already through the portal.
"That'll never change," the White Ranger laughed, and he vanished through their portal too.
"That so many teams from all over the timeline have proven today," Jason started as he turned back to the two remaining teams. "Today, tomorrow, or decades from now, there will always be Rangers like you to stand up for what is right," they grinned, and Jason nodded before turning, vanishing through the portal too.
"We better get moving too. We have a staff to return," Devon said, looking at Keeper's staff.
"Thank you, for coming," Tyler thanked them again.
"We're glad to help, always," Ryne said, smiling softly. "Good luck," she said, meeting Teddie's gaze. The White Ranger grinned back at her, before reaching out and taking Heckyl's hand. He gave a soft sigh, rolling his eyes, but it was ruined by the red crossing his face.
"See you around," Devon waved.
"Not too soon, I hope!" Jeremy called, and several of his team shoved him with groans. Devon and his team laughed, and with another goodbye, they passed through the portal too, leaving the Dino Charge Rangers to finish their battles with their real enemies.
"Five teams of Rangers…" Lewis breathed as they relayed the events of the past to him and the Commander. Asher looked just as awestruck as he was, while the Commander looked as unfazed as ever.
"Thank you, for returning my staff," Keeper nodded at Devon, who grinned.
"And thank you, for teaching me to trust the Morphin' Grid," he replied. Keeper nodded, pleased by his words. "I'll never doubt its power again," Devon vowed, in awe of what he had learned.
"A wise person never stops learning," Keeper reminded him.
"Today, I learned a lot," Devon laughed, and hugged Keeper.
"Too bad you missed your tournament," Ryne nudged the Red Ranger as he stepped backwards. He shrugged.
"That adventure was better than any video game!" he declared, and they couldn't help but laugh at him.
"It's lucky you were hit by that meteor then!" Steel nodded seriously, which only made their laughter grow.
So much happened...it was chaos writing this, but so much fun.
Including the Dino Fury Rangers was something I've had in my head for ages. I hope you liked that surprise! And the addition of White and Silver Rangers too, who could they possibly be? Whoever they are, they'll return in Dino Fury: Shadows of Hope!
I hope you liked it!
