Guardians Unite!
CJ jolted away from the drawing she was working on, at the sudden voice inside her head. She looked around the detention room to see if anyone else heard the voice but everyone was still doing what they've been doing the past hour. Images started to flood her mind. Images of what looked like magical beings and places that look so familiar to her. One image caught her attention more than the rest. It was of a being fighting alongside four others but the beings weren't using any kind of weapons. They were using the four elements as their weapons.
Rubbing her eyes to refocus after the image ceased, she reluctantly went back to her drawing. But once she finally got a good look at the picture on the paper it was one of the images she just witnessed. And this time instead of not knowing the being's face, CJ could see it as clear as day. It was her but the other four's faces weren't finished yet.
Guardians Unite!
Izzy grabbed her head at the sudden pain. It was like someone had set her head on fire. She bent over placing her hands on her knees as images flashed through her brain. She was surrounded by fire but it wasn't hurting her, it was helping. Helping to defend off the creatures in front of her and the four others that stood next to her.
The hand on her shoulder made her sit up straight. Roxy was looking at her with concern eyes. "I'm okay just exhausted." Luckily Roxy believed her and went back to talking with their other teammates in the locker room. Izzy rubbed her fingers in circles on her temples to try and rid herself of the headache that formed from the fiery images. Something must be stressing her out, since unexplainable occurrences have been happening the last couple weeks. But she didn't think much of still her teammates demanded her attention.
Guardians Unite!
Right as Khloe struck the final pose of the routine, she nearly lost her footing from the sudden images playing through her mind like a movie. An image of her in the air, watching as a fight was in progress down below. Four other beings quickly flew up to aid her in the fight that was going on in the sky at the same time.
Once she was down from the top of the pyramid, Hannah brought her out of her trance by pulling her off the mat that was used for cheer performances and practices. Khloe was asked if she was okay since she shook a bit more than usual while on top. "Yeah, I'm sorry, it won't happen again, I just got a sudden headache." Her coach easily brushed it off because she knew Khloe would stick to her word.
"Guardians?" The three whispered simultaneously even though they were in three separate locations in the school.
-Meridian-
"Wynter! Look out for theā¦" Wynter smacked right into the pillar before Hay-Lin could finish. "Pillar."
Hugging the pillar tightly, Wynter slid down until her butt met the marbled floor. "Ouch." She ended up falling back, sprawling out like a starfish.
"Are you okay?" Chance stood over her while holding his hand out. She took it before being pulled to her feet with ease.
"I'm okay," Wynter quickly let go of his hand when she noticed she was holding it longer than necessary, blushing. "How do you steer when you are up in the sky?"
"By shifting your weight," Hay-Lin informed the newly appointed leader.
"Got it," Wynter gave them a thumbs up before rubbing her forehead. "That's definitely gonna be bruised tomorrow."
Dakota landed rather roughly on her feet before making her way over to Wynter's side. "Are you okay?"
"Other than my face hurting, I'm fine." For what seemed like the hundredth time since transforming Wynter, pulled at the blue ankle long skirt, unwrapping it from her legs so now the fabric was now on her right side, the place it should be in the first place, letting the shorts she also wore be shown on the left side. "Why does Dakota have those blue and green tights but I have these sock things?" She snapped the fabric of the socks at her thigh to emphasis her question even more.
Dakota looked down at her legs. Like Wynter said, under her pink mid-thigh skirt were said tights and they, somehow, ended up going with the blue and pink color scheme.
"Like the Guardians personalities, all their outfit are different," Elyon stated.
"Well, I don't like mine," Wynter covered her stomach with her arms. "I feel too exposed."
Wynter's top was a pink, off the shoulder long sleeve, that had stopped just above her belly button, the end of the top having a fitted hold. The only two things she liked about the outfit were the thumb holes and the knee-high boots. But she had to admit, to herself of course, that the outfit did make her feel strong and look good, even if it didn't seem all that practical to fight in.
"Well, I like how I look," Dakota smiled as she spun cutely in a circle then struck the superhero pose where her fists are planted on her hips and her chest is puffed out. "It's like I'm some kind of warrior." Unlike Wynter's, Dakota's top was a blue cold shoulder shirt that had the ends of the sleeves attached to her middle fingers; with her feet covered in wedge desert boots.
"You'll get used to it; I promise." Hay-Lin said, smiling at the two. "Now let's try flying in a circle again. Then we'll work on the elemental part of being a Guardian."
The two agreed, separating themselves once more, and started how the Hay-Lin told them to, by first floating off the ground next to a pillar before flying higher. After they got a good distance from the ground, they tipped forward so their stomachs were facing the floor. Dakota went first, losing altitude a little before completing a full circle around the pillar.
Wynter watched on in awe as her turned came around fast. She took in a deep breath, calming her nerves a bit. I can do this. She encouraged herself. She flew forward, shifting her weight to the left. As a result, she went around the pillar, this time without hitting it.
"Amazing job you two!" Hay-Lin called up to them.
Wynter and Dakota flew closer to one another to high five. However, it didn't go as plan; once their hands touched the two friends lost concentration and dropped a few feet, before catching themselves. For safety Wynter and Dakota agreed to high five once their feet were back on the ground.
While the two new Guardians, continued practice flying, Hay-Lin, Cornelia, and Elyon were talking off to the side with Chance watching over Wynter and Dakota.
"I probably should have brought the other three here too," Hay-Lin stated to the two Queens as they watched Wynter and Dakota continued to test out their Guardian elemental powers. "Now I'm gonna have to explain everything all over."
Though, before either could reply a guard had rushed in, apologizing for the intrusion before informing the Queen of Meridian, they were under attacked. Sensing something wrong, Wynter and Dakota flew down to the women just as the ground shook.
"What's going on?" Wynter asked, catching herself before she could fall over.
The three adults led the two Guardians out to a balcony. What they saw below was a sight they hoped they wouldn't have to see for at least a little while longer. The castle was under attack by mind-controlled creatures and shadow beings; undoubtedly sent by her. The guards had insisted that the Queens should not go down to fight, Hay-Lin agreeing, so the Queens reluctantly stayed in the throne room with Chance by their sides.
"No better way to learn then hopping right into action. Right?" Hay-Lin said looking at Wynter and Dakota, a bit of uncertainty detected in her voice. "Stick close to me and I'll help Wynter bring the other three Guardians here. Got it?"
The two nodded and they ran through the castle to get to the fight. Although, neither, Wynter nor Dakota has ever been in a fight, physical or verbal, they were determined to help in any way they could, even if they were absolutely terrified.
2/5 of the Guardians start testing out their abilities. How do you think the remaining three are gonna react to the whole Guardian thing?
I hope you are liking the story so far! Is there anything that I need to fix or add? Let me know!
Thank you for reading!
