Chapter 2: Saving a princess.

Amity's little rebellion definitely turned the Blight Manor upside down. For the last few days the atmosphere was extra tense and Odalia especially was impossible to talk to (which was saying something). She constantly had that dark look on her face, and with the slightest opportunity, she would go off about how unacceptable, disrespectful, and so on and so forth, Amity's behaviour was.

And from the next morning... Oh boy...

The twins would probably have to book tickets for the next ship leaving the Isles. But for now...

Emira was making tea. The least a good daughter could do in those trying times was to try and help her Mother alleviate from the pain their youngest caused her. And it was almost ready. All it was missing was a little surprise ingredient. For an extra relaxing tea.

One and a half petals for each cup.

There. Perfect.

"She's still at it! I can't believe it! I prepared her for success, I raised her to be everything a Blight should be! And now she has the audacity to throw it all away just because of-of... UGH!" Odalia's monologue was still going strong in the living room, as Emira came with the tray.

"Yes, Mother. We all know. Here. I made some tea. It should help ease your nerves." She said, as her parents took their teacups.

"Oh, thank you, Emira. You're such a dear. If only your sister was more like you...!"

Oh, if only indeed... Emira sat on the couch and smiled slyly behind the pages of a book as they drank (or chugged in her Mother's case).

It was midnight.

And a storm was raging.

The wind and the raindrops were violently whipping her face, but she didn't even falter. She couldn't. Not when her princess needed her.

Riding atop her mighty demon-steed, she stormed through the Manor's gates. And with her powerful magic, she smited the creatures blocking her path without sparing a glance.

Until she was finally in the heart of the Manor. Face to face with the captors of her beloved.

"Luz? Luz!"

Willow's voice brought Luz abruptly back to reality. "Are you listening?"

"Hehe... Sorry, I just got a little sidetracked. Preparing some glyphs. Checking my notes..." Luz said, keeping her notebook closer.

"Uh-huh. Your notes." Gus added playfully, stealing a look at the notebook, right before a red-faced Luz could shove it in her bag. "They are pretty cool 'notes' by the way."

"Okay, so... Still no signal." Luz immediately changed the subject to the disappointing obvious, staring sadly at the Blight Manor after removing a part from the bush where they were hiding.

"Maybe the tea hasn't taken effect yet." Willow said quickly, in an attempt to keep her friend's spirits up.

But truth be told, they were waiting for quite a while now. And Luz was getting nervous.

Amity was already on thin ice with her parents, to say the least, there wasn't any room for mistakes here. Otherwise they'd do something even more drastic to ensure she'd stay away from them (from her...).

But if they wouldn't get a signal in the next three minutes, she'd storm her way to Amity herself!

"Hey, look over there! That's the signal" Willow suddenly pointed to the window of Amity's bedroom, from which three spheres of light appeared and then popped.

Yeah, that was the signal.

Finally! "That's your cue, Gus." Luz said, bringing out three invisibility glyphs.

"All right, let's do this!" Gus cracked his knuckles, before he and the girls activated the glyphs.

And while an illusion of Amity and a few others of abominations were having a fight, the trio ran through the garden and made it to the front door, out of breath but undetected.

Not even a minute passed when Emira came and let Luz in, while Gus and Willow stayed out. The first to keep the illusions going, the second to start getting rid of the cameras (Odalia's newest addition to the manor's security.).

"What took you so long?" She asked, forgetting her quiet voice for a moment, before Emira shushed her.

"Well..."

"Mother, are you feeling okay?"

"I... I think I'm... I need to check on Amity..." Odalia was speaking woozily, barely controling her body as she tried to stand up, which of course meant- "Ow! Who put... the table here...?"

"All right. Come on. Let's get you to bed." Emira was quick to help her up, but unfortunately-

"No! I must... see her now..." She was still trying...

Of course... Even with a soporific tea, she wouldn't stop until she got her way.

"Maybe, you should leave this for tommorow? She's probably aslee-" Before Emira could finish her sentence a tumbling noice was heard towards the basement. "Uh... Mom?"

Thank Titan she knew a levitation spell.

"And, they're asleep good now?" Luz whispered, as she and Em passed through the living room.

"Don't worry. They won't be waking up 'til morning." In perfect timing to Em's words, a noise was heard from upstairs. Someone was moving! "Hide!"

Luz, thinking fast, slid under the couch, while Em rushed upstairs to see what was happening.

Luckily, it seemed her parents were still both asleep, but if that noice kept going on, they wouldn't be for long. And it appeared it was coming...

From Amity's room.

"Ed, will you keep it down? Mom and Dad are in their bedroom, you'll wake them up!" She half-whispered as she entered the room to see a goop-covered Edric, trying to handle an abomination.

"Tell that to that thing! It's an old project, shouldn't it be... I don't know, melted, or mushed or something?" Edric said, while his sister helped him to put it in a sack that he had left on the side.

"Was it at least the last one?"

"Yep. The ones in the security, Dad's leftovers, Amity's old homework. They're all in here." He smacked proudly the sack as he finished, which caused the abominations to act up a little.

Mittens, you owe me big time after this... "Come on. Let's go get Luz."

The twins begun making their way downstairs. But unfortunately, they weren't the only ones.

Amity was nervously pacing around non-stop like a wind-up toy.

Luz was coming for her. She was going to get her out of there! And then-

Then...

Amity found herself in a crossroad whenever she thought of that. On the one hand she wanted to just be excited about seeing Luz again and let things move on their own, without having to think about what would come next. Like when-... when she kissed her...

And on the other hand, there was that... Seeing her again after that, what would it mean? Would it get awkward? Would Luz not want to talk about it? Would she... would she reciprocate?

"Amity? Amity, it's me." Upon hearing Luz's voice from the other side, Amity immediately rushed to the door, smiling wider than she ever did.

No words came out of her mouth, other than a quiet yet overjoyed 'Luz!'. And for a moment that was all that mattered. She wasn't out yet, she didn't even see her and just that, just hearing her voice made her feel like she was already free. It made her happy, and that was all she could think of.

And maybe... maybe that was enough. Maybe a little awkwardness was worth it, if it meant that she could have this warmth, this smile (And besides it wasn't like the awkwardness would last forever, hopefully.).

But for now, she had to focus on gettin out of the Manor.

"All right. Everyone stay back." She said, ready to blast the door with a fire spell, but before she could complete the circle-

"Mom!" Ed and Em called out and rushed upstairs, as they saw Odalia making her way back to the basement. While Luz used her last invisibility glyph and Amity felt like screaming.

The fact that this woman could still stay awake after a tea with sleeping petals and a rolling down the stairs made them both want to scream.

What did they have to do for her to stay out of their way? Tie her up? Lock her up? Both?

So far those were the only things they hadn't try. Those and...

"You know, we actually checked on Amity for you. And we were just leaving. So you should leave too." Em said quickly, trying to get her to leave.

"I appreciate that. But... I have to talk to her." But unfortunately she remained unyielding. "Edric? What happened to you?"

"Oh, Amity wanted some help with a project. And-" Edric didn't have the time to finish his answer and Odalia fell unconsious on the floor.

"Sorry, but we need to get Amity out some time this century." Luz said exasperatedly, holding Eda's staff. "Amity, coast is clear. Fire away!"

Not missing a beat, Amity did just that and when she came out her gaze fell directly on Luz.

And there it was again. That wide smile, that warmth in her chest. And of course the blush on her face. And before she knew it she was wrapped into a tight hug.

That was it. Amity was about to faint. Faint or die. But before she did... She'd live in that moment.

"Hey, girls. While this is really sweet and all, shouldn't you get going? Before the warden wakes up again?" Emira said, bringing the two back to reality.

"Right..." Amity, broke away from the hug, turning to her siblings for a moment. "Will you guys be okay?"

"Don't worry about us. As far as they'll know, the escape will be all yours. Now get out of here, you crazy kids."

Amity followed Luz, but before they left, she turned to her siblings one last time. Before she was finally out of the house. Finally free. "Thank you."

Em and Ed gave no response other than a smile and a wink, as Amity closed the door behind her.

"All right Ed. We have a lot of goop to spread. Let's get going."

"And Mom?" Ed asked, already levitating her.

Em sighed. "We'll lock the door this time."

And there it is! Hope you enjoyed! See you soon everyone! Please leave a review. :)
