When they first managed to sail the stars, the Futians where delighted.

It took them a long time and many failures but in the end, their spirit and advancement made the dream possible.

They advanced slowly but surely. First, they landed on their first moon. This simple act unified their planet. The clans convened and decided to be one to be more, do more. Then they reached the nearest planet and created an outpost.

It took them one hundred years but after all this time the first Futian born out of the planet was delivered on Futian II. Because of their slow aging and rare birth rate, this event was seen as a sign to keep up and expend even more.

Yet, for all their hopes and dreams, reality was back with vengeance. None of them clearly understood why they were attacked but from the darkness, monsters came out. Strange beings armed with better weapons and lust for blood.

The Futians tried to fight back, to defend themselves, but the aliens were merciless and in just a week worth of time, they had to flee back to their home planet.

Even there, the aliens chased them, harassed them. Their main cities were pillaged, their spaceports destroyed and their fertile lands burned.

After some time, the space ships left. Leaving behind destruction and grief.

The futians tried to rebuild, to start anew but the alien did not let them do so. They placed satellites around the planet that targeted anything too developed, keeping the Futians from being a spacefaring race ever again.

Sometime, aliens would come back to hunt them, like a sport. Most Futians not dare to leave their underground bunker but those who did often fell prey to those hunters.

The elders were desperate and the Futians future looked bleak. But darkness cannot exist without light.

One of their own, charged in finding help in this vast unforgiving galaxy finally accessed a new alien system and in doing so discovered what they latter named the codex.

A "game", if the translation was correct, that gave the devotes gifts. It sounded so mystical, so strange, yet one of the elder tried it, and much to their surprise, he did receive a blessing.

Mh'ithrha blessed him with the blood of the beast, allowing him to transform in a monster as strong a fifty Futians and faster than a hovercar. Others followed his example and after a while most of the Futian left alive were blessed.

They prepared and when one of the hunters, came down to have "fun", he became the prey. Using his space craft, after killing every sentient being inside it, they tracked down every satellite around their planet and destroyed them.

Victory was sweet.

After this, no more aliens came down to hunt them and while they did not dare to hope for them to be left alone for long, they prepared as much as they could.
