Before you read:

This chapter features a look at the Northuldra people and Queen Iduna's childhood, from the perspective of the Arendelle people. This is what the Arendellians' currently believe is true.

-Chapter Start-

Elsa desperately tried to keep a moan of pleasure from passing her lips. Naruto was standing behind her, gripping her shoulders with his strong, warm, hands. Working his own magic, as he massaged the tension out of her.

It had been several days since Ingrid, Hedda, Sara, and Arn had returned to the orphanage. And with all of that excitement finished, the queen had found herself returning to her duty of ruling the kingdom. Which, as always, left her feeling stressed. Finally, she couldn't bear it anymore, and asked Naruto for a shoulder massage.

Which led to her current situation. Several months ago, she would have had no trouble asking Naruto for a quick massage, but things had changed now. Specifically that they were dating, and everyone knew it.

Ever since her boyfriend had returned from his stay at the ice palace, Elsa felt uncomfortable asking her fellow blond to rub her shoulders. The act sounded more intimate now that they were dating. But with everything going on, she finally relented, and asked him.

It was probably silly of her to worry, Naruto had jumped at the chance to help her in any way he could. A broad smile on his face as he moved behind her, preparing to squeeze the tension from her body. It was lucky that the two of them were alone together.

Although that luck might have been a hidden curse. While Elsa had been more willing to receive a massage while alone, she now had to fight the urge to moan out loud. With the implications of what the servants would think if they passed by her office, while she was secluded with her boyfriend, only to hear the sound of moaning. The rumors would be unending.

Especially since she was a queen. Even being alone in a room with her boyfriend would be scandalous enough, if not for the loyalty of her staff. But it would be catastrophic for her to even whisper a lewd noise.

Thankfully her pleasant suffering came to an end, as Naruto backed away from her. While she wasn't sure how much time had passed, it had evidently been enough to ease her body. She was not only feeling lighter, but felt as though everything was brighter.

"I definitely needed that," Elsa cheered. Stretching her body as she stood up. Unaware of the show she was giving. "Thank you, Naruto-kun."

"You are welcome," the blond replied. Blushing slightly as his girlfriend continued to twist and stretch.

"It's nice to relax a little before we need to go out this afternoon," Elsa said, finishing her stretches. "We still have an hour before we need to head out, so what should we do until then?"

"There is not much we can do before the pageant," was Naruto's answer as he sat on a nearby couch.

The queen joined him soon after. Sitting close enough to her boyfriend that they could have shared one seat.

"Then I guess we'll sit together for a little while," Elsa said, tucking her feet under her and leaning into her fellow blond.

"I like sitting alone with you," Naruto responded. Gently reached out his hand to hold hers.

"I do too."

A smile was shared between the two as they fell into a comfortable silence. Simply enjoying each other's company.

"So much has happened lately," Elsa said after several minutes. "We haven't been able to spend a lot of time together."

"But we get to spend it together now," Naruto stated. A lot has happened, but now we can relax."

"I'm glad that Hedda and Ingrid are safe," the queen added after a few seconds. "Everyone was worried when they disappeared."

"It is a good thing that both of them are always together," Naruto said. "They are a good team, and would never let anything bad happen to the other."

"They're like sisters," Elsa chuckled. "And you've taught them well."

"I am happy that they wanted to listen to me. It made teaching them easy."

The two chuckled together before falling into another easy silence. With the queen enjoying the soothing warmth from her boyfriend. While he tried to ignore her soft form pressed into him.

After some time Naruto nudged Elsa, and the two spread apart. Seconds later, a maid entered the room, informing the couple that it was time for them to head out.

Anna rushed down the road, with Kristoff, Sven, Olaf, Elsa, and Naruto following behind. The redheaded princess excitedly weaved through the town.

"This is going to be so much fun," she exclaimed, spinning in place. While Olaf cheered in agreement.

"Slow down Anne," Kristoff called out. Having difficulty keeping up with his energetic girlfriend.

Naruto would have been able to match, and surpass, the princess's speed, but he was more content to walk beside Elsa.

"But this is the Spring Pageant," Anna called back. "Where the town celebrates, and the school puts on a play to officially announce that winter is over."

"And they do it every year," the ice harvester added.

"Yeah, but Elsa and I didn't get to see it last year. Or the ones before that. Or ever."

The princess stopped in the road. Her face blank as she tried to remember something.

"Elsa, did I ever go to the school pageant?" the princess asked her sister.

"Mom and Dad took us every year before we closed the gates," the queen replied easily. Her eyes filled with joy at the memory. "You used to love watching the other girls in their colorful dresses, and how they would dance. It was magical."

"Magical?" Anna whispered. She didn't remember a lot of magical things from her childhood.

"Come on Anna," Kristoff said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You're not the only one excited. This will be the first pageant in years that's being watched over by the queen and the princess. The whole town is eager to make this play, one of the biggest celebrations ever."

"And I can't wait," the princess replied back, if a bit subdued. Grabbing her boyfriend's hand, she began to drag him to the auditorium where the play would be held. Leaving Naruto and Elsa to follow behind the other couple.

*break*

The auditorium, where the play would be held, was next to the school house. A useful location since the students were putting on the performance. Every seat was taken, as many people gathered to watch the play. Thankfully the queen and her party had a set of reserved seats. Something the townspeople insisted on, since this was the first play that would be performed for Queen Elsa.

Naruto found himself sitting between Elsa and a low dividing wall that was used to separate the royal seats from everyone else. It was nice to have the reserved seats, but the blond ninja would have preferred standing with everyone else. Even though all of the chairs were occupied, and the little bit of standing room was quickly filling up. Sven's sitting bulk was not helping.

Soon the low hum of chatter that had filled the theater disappeared. As the school's music director walked onto the stage.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen," the lanky music instructor greeted. Welcome to the annual Arendelle Spring Pageant. I am Mr. Laerersen, and a special play has been prepared for today."

The teacher gave an overly dramatic bow, as he continued his speech. Before turning to the box reserved for the royal guests.

"Today, we will be celebrating the life and love of King Agnarr and Queen Iduna. Who met as children, and grew together. With their love for each other only matched by their love for their family and kingdom."

With his speech done, the teacher left the stage, and made his way to the conductor's stand. Where a small band was getting ready.

With a flourish, the musicians began to play, and curtains on the stage pulled back. Several rows of children, grouped up by age, were lined up. Waiting for their que.

When the music dipped low, the children began to sing.

Naruto leaned back as much as he could in his chair. Listening to the airy chanting, as the different groups of children passed the song between each other.

Sadly the blond was unable to understand the lyrics. Apparently sung words were a little beyond what he could understand of his girlfriend's language. Meaning there would be more language practice in his future.

But Naruto would endure those lessons if it meant that he could see those precious to him smile. Elsa and Anna were staring at the stage, completely captured by the song. While Hedda and Ingrid stood beside their classmates on a raised platform in the back.

Soon enough the song ended, and the older groups of children, who were standing in front, moved to the side. Allowing several individual students to take center stage.

Naruto didn't pay too much attention to them. Instead keeping his gaze on his two friends. Who, now that they were done singing, had begun looking around, as did many of the other students. The two girls spotted the displaced ninja, and tried to wave at him without raising their hands. Naruto returned the gesture.

"Prince Agnarr," a voice called out in narration, as a boy stepped forward. "A brave and chivalrous young man. Always ready to help the people of Arendelle."

The child playing Agnarr gave a flamboyant bow, before he was joined by another boy. Who was older and larger, with a false mustache taped to his lip.

"King Runeard sought to keep Arendelle safe from harm." The older boy made a sweeping bow. While several more children raced onto the stage, wearing furs. "So the king went to speak with the mysterious Northuldra."

The new group of children danced and chanted in a way that Naruto suspected he wasn't meant to understand. Soon they all stopped, and one of them walked up to the king.

"The Northuldra were a mystical people, who used the power of the spirits," the narrator continued.

"Such as the fire spirit," a picture of a burning tree was pushed into view from offstage.

"The water spirit," a painting of a creature climbing out of a river, came in from the other side.

"And the most fearsome of all, the earth spirit." A giant banner rolled down in the middle of the stage. Showing a rocky gray creature, who might have looked like a troll, if it hadn't been as tall as the room. Many of the audience gasped at the giant.

"With these spirits under their command, the Northuldra were a powerful and dangerous people. So the king hoped to make a peace treaty with them."

Suddenly a transparent blue curtain began to drop on the stage, limiting the view of the students.

"But the Northuldra betrayed King Runeard, and tried to trap him and his soldiers behind a wall of mist," the narrator went silent for a few seconds while the blue curtain began to shake. As several people came out from under the cloth. Among them was the prince, and a young girl.

"No one knows what happened behind the wall of mist, but it was lucky that Prince Agnarr returned safely," the narrator continued. "Along with him was Iduna, daughter of Greta the shield-maiden and Torra the soldier, who had joined the king on his peace mission, but were lost behind the wall of mist. And from then on, Prince Agnarr and the young Iduna were inseparable."

The theater was filled with applause. Giving time for the people on stage to remove the props they had used, and get ready for the next scene.

Naruto sat quietly. Enjoying the parts of the story he could understand, while wondering about certain aspects. Especially those Northuldra people he had never heard about, and the elemental spirits they used.

*break*

The pageant continued for another hour, with many small tales about a young Iduna, who would one day marry a king. And Elsa couldn't look away.

The current queen fondly remembered the stories her mother used to tell her and Anna when they were young. Especially about a dorky young prince, who grew into a strong and confident king.

But these stories were different. They weren't her mother's stories. Instead this was how the townspeople saw her mother and father.

There was no prince stumbling on his feet, while trying to give a bouquet of flowers. Or a young girl who prefered to read her books in the branches of a tree. Only a young couple, who were in love. It was the perfect romance that the town wanted to see.

When the play ended, the auditorium erupted into applause, with Anna being the loudest. Elsa joined in, having thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

But now, the queen was curious. How did the town see her own relationship?

Looking to her side, Elsa looked at her own dorky boyfriend. Who was clapping with everyone else, but his attention was on the two girls near the back of the stage. Both of whom were grinning widely as they looked at him, and by extension her.

The town loved Naruto. With all the times he helped out around the village, to his heroic acts at the old orphanage, and his bright personality, it was easy for anyone to love him.

But the town didn't get to see his other side. How he hated to get up in the morning, and would always try to get out of his language lessons. The townspeople didn't get to see that side of him, but she did.

She had seen the sides of Naruto that most would ignore, but she had already accepted those parts of him. Because they were what made him unique.

-Chapter End-

I don't know why this chapter took so long to write, but here it is. I could honestly hold it back and do more improvements, but I think moving forward is the best option now.

The Spring Pageant was a scrapped concept from Frozen 1, that was meant to introduce a prophecy involving an eternal winter. It was obviously dropped, but the song (Spring Pageant) can still be found. I've wanted to do something with the idea of a spring festival for a while, and I'm glad I finally got to it. The main thing is the introduction of the Northuldra and the spirits, to set up for Frozen 2.

As I said at the beginning of the chapter, the play being shown is from the perspective of the Arendellians, and not what actually happened. This will be something we'll be getting into in the coming chapters, especially as we move closer to Frozen 2.

I kept what the spirits looked like vague, because I doubt many people from Arendelle have gone to the Northuldra territory, and know what the spirits look like. Except for the obvious rock giant. It's easy to guess what they look like.

The play was supposed to be longer, but this chapter was already giving me trouble, and I didn't think we needed to focus on Agnarr and Iduna's relationship. That being said, I will give attention to "Dangerous Secrets: The Story Of Iduna And Agnarr" by Mari Mancusi. A book that I was unable to finish for reasons, but did give some inspiration to how Iduna and Agnarr would have behaved when they were younger.

Greta the shield-maiden and Torra the soldier, come from the above mentioned book. I'm hoping to do something with them once our heroes get behind the wall of mist themselves. One other person, that did not get mentioned, was Regent Peterssen, who ruled Arendelle while Agnarr was still too young to be king.

I'm ending it here, thank you for reading, and being patient. Next chapter should hopefully be quicker, and have our heroes spending more time together.
