Hiccup sat in the cove drawing Toothless in the dirt with a stick while Toothless took a nap hanging from a tree.
Toothless woke up and got down off the tree and sat beside Hiccup to watch him draw.
Afterwards, he broke a tree branch off and drew circles around Hiccup until he finished the picture.
Hiccup stood up to see lines and step on a line to earn a growl from Toothless.
He lift his foot off the line to earn a purr and step on the spaces till he stood next to Toothless to see his version of a smiley face.
He tells Toothless "bud I'm going to be alone for the rest of my life. I mean who needs love from a mate."
Toothless shakes his head and croons wondering what happen.
Hiccup sighs "my crush said she could do better as choosing a boyfriend better than me and I destroyed her prize axe that I made her for ten birthday."
Toothless croons in sadness.
Hiccup holds out his hand to trust Toothless not to hurt him.
Sunset when Hiccup return to the village to go to the forge and begin making a fake tail fin.
While he was in the forge working, Ingrid stop by and says "I heard what happen in the arena this morning, Hiccup."
Hiccup sighs "I'm resigning from being heir to Berk and when dad comes home, I'm leaving to go find my mother and see if she's alive."
Ingrid ask "why would you resign from being heir?"
Hiccup answers "I have to produce a heir when chief and since your daughter threw any chance of me wanting her out the window after she publicly made me undesirable, I no longer want to be your future chief. Between us, I'm training a Night Fury in secret. When I'm done, I'm leaving for a year. I'll be back to see Astrid's sixteen birthday and her suitors. Don't ask me to be one."
Ingrid hugs him "oh, Hiccup. I don't know what happen to my daughter after she lost her uncle Finn."
Hiccup sighs "I can't help with that."
Ingrid ask "can you make my daughter a new axe for me before you leave?"
Hiccup sighs "yes, for you. It will be a goodbye gift."
Ingrid leaves the forge to go to bed.
Hiccup turns back to building a fake tail fin.
He cuts fabric, makes rods and sew them together.
By ten o'clock, he finished the fake tail fin and shut down the forge.
In the morning, he grabbed a basket of fish and walked to the forest.
When he got to the cove he dumps the basket of fish and says "I got different types of fish and a smoked eel."
Toothless backs away screeching in panic.
Hiccup grabs the eel and toss it away.
Toothless goes back to eating the fish.
Hiccup lays the fake tail fin down next to Toothless' tail.
Toothless moved his tail away.
Hiccup sits on the tail and buckle the fake tail fin together.
Toothless wiggle his tail and lift off with Hiccup riding.
Hiccup exclaims "it works!"
Toothless flings him off into the lake and crash into the lake because the fake tail fin closes up.
Hiccup jumps out and says "woohoo!"
He returns to the village and goes by the arena to see the teens standing around with Fishlegs alone.
Gobber sees Hiccup standing by the gate and ask "Hiccup, could you help out by being Fishleg's partner. I know you said you quit, but this dragon their facing is the Hideous Zippleback."
Hiccup sighs "for you Gobber, but I hate them and they don't deserve my help. When my father returns, I'm resigning from being heir and leaving for a year."
Snotlout grins "good. That means I get to be the heir to Berk and I can marry Astrid."
Astrid turns to Hiccup and ask "your not going let him be heir?"
Hiccup turns to her and says "you made your bed. Now I hope you like the many suitors who want your hand in marriage."
Astrid comments "I know you want to marry me too."
Hiccup scowls "I don't want nothing to do with you after yesterday when you said you could find a boyfriend better than me you brat!"
Astrid gape "I don't believe that."
Hiccup turns to Gobber and says "open the cell door so I can get this over with and don't have to be around people who hate me!"
Gobber sighs and unlock the Zippleback cage.
He tells the teens "the Zippleback is extra tricky. One head breathes gas. The other lites it. It's your job to know which is which."
Snotlout and Tuffnut circle each other looking for the dragon until Snotlout pointed at a shadow and said "there" throwing their bucket of water the figures to see Astrid and Ruffnut.
Ruffnut complains "it's us you idiot."
Tuffnut comments "your butt is getting bigger. We thought you were the dragon."
Ruffnut throws her bucket of water at her brother knocking him over.
Snotlout flirts "there's nothing wrong with having a dragon figure for a girl."
Astrid throws her bucket at Snotlout hitting him in the head and scowls "I may have destroyed my chances with Hiccup even though he doesn't flirt with me."
The Zippleback chases them away.
Fishlegs comments "chances of success are going to single digits."
Hiccup scoffs "will you shut up?"
The Zippleback reveal one head and Fishlegs throws his bucket of water at the head.
The other head comes out and sparks it's mouth.
Fishlegs comments "oops. Wrong head."
The gas head shoots gas at him. Fishlegs runs away scared.
Hiccup stood there facing both heads.
Gobber nervous about Hiccup.
Hiccup sets his bucket of water down on the ground and reveals an eel to the Zippleback to make it back away.
He backs it into its cage and shuts the door after tossing the eel inside.
Gobber ask "uh, Hiccup? Would you mind telling me how you made that Zippleback back away from you in fear?"
Hiccup turns to him and says "that's a secret and no because I don't want to be in their company or give away my information on my secret friend. They cast me out along with that village. I'm not part of the tribe."
Gobber comments "that's not true."
Hiccup argued "it is true. This village has made comments about I should have been thrown in the sea as a baby. Tuffnut commented that I didn't get eaten by a dragon. When I leave, this village is going to suffer and I'll be grinning for revenge against everyone of you!"
