Ten months later.
Hiccup showed no interest in Astrid.
He set all the pictures of Astrid in the corner and removed all his inventions ideas and posted pictures of dragons on his drawing board to look at while he works.
Astrid stop by the forge and ask "uh, Hiccup? Could you sharpen my ax and could we hangout?"
Hiccup sighs and grabs the ax from her and sharpen it.
After he was done, he ask "why do you want to hangout with me all of a sudden?"
Astrid grumbles "my parents want me to get married and they figure your the best choice for me."
Hiccup sighs "I'm sorry but I'm not interested in you, Astrid. You broke my heart."
He turns around and walks to his back room.
Astrid sighs and leaves the forge.
She walks home sad.
She walks inside and her house and sits down at the kitchen table with her hands folded.
Ingrid walks inside and ask "what's wrong, daughter?"
Astrid sighs "I broke Hiccup's heart and he won't give me a chance. I ask him to hangout with me and he turned it down."
Ingrid grins "why don't you worry about your marriage trials and I'll convince Hiccup to try and win your hand in marriage."
Astrid scowls "I don't want to get married, mom!"
Ingrid grins "I didn't say get married right away after he wins your hand."
Astrid scoffs "even if he wins my hand. I still won't give him anything from me. He's not my type."
That night, Astrid sat across from Fishlegs and ask "I can setup at least two trials for my hand in marriage?"
Fishlegs gulps "yes. To test them."
Astrid gets up and walks to the head table and says "for my hand in marriage, You have to beat me in a duel and the second trial is you have to defeat the Monstrous Nightmare in three minutes."
Hiccup laughs.
Astrid turns around and ask "what's so funny?"
Hiccup comments "fight a Monstrous Nightmare, the boys here wouldn't last three minutes alone and they only listen to my commands."
Astrid scoffs "then if you think you can win my trials, then try it!"
Hiccup smirks "I would if I was interested in you. Why don't you and everyone quit?"
Astrid sighs "because I find you interesting with training dragons."
Hiccup snorts "I'm just not your type of boyfriend. So I don't want to waste my time and my feelings on a girl who doesn't want me!"
He finished eating and walked out of the Meade Hall.
As he walked toward his home up the hill, Snotlout, Dogsbreath and Thuggory stop him with Tuffnut.
He sighs "what do you four guys want?"
Snotlout answers "we want you to teach us how to fight the Monstrous Nightmare."
Hiccup answers "no."
Dogsbreath scowls "wrong answer" and throws a punch.
Hiccup grabbed his arm and twisted it around and flipped him on the ground.
Snotlout charge him and Hiccup dropped to his feet and trip him.
Thuggory charge to receive a dagger to his neck.
Hiccup deathly says "if you want to continue, I'll slit your throat right now."
Tuffnut punches Hiccup and it didn't phase him.
Hiccup turns around and stab Tuffnut in his side and then slice Thuggory across his face.
He leaves all four there in a heap on the ground.
The four walk back into the Meade Hall to see shock faces.
Spitelout ask "son, what happened to you four?!"
Thuggory answers "Hiccup did this to us. We asked him to teach us how to fight his Monstrous Nightmare and he told us no. So we jumped him and he was liked trained to fight us."
Ingrid smirks "still think Hiccup isn't your type?"
Astrid blushes at her mother's smirk.
She leaves the Meade Hall to walking up the hill to chief's house to talk with Hiccup.
Once inside, she walks upstairs and knocks on the door "uh, Hiccup?"
Hiccup opens the door to see Astrid and ask "what do you want?"
Astrid grabs his shirt and pulls him into a kiss on his cheek and says "that was for standing your ground against Snotlout, Dogsbreath, Thuggory and Tuffnut" and leaves the house.
Hiccup comments "don't think a kiss would make me tryout your trails."
Astrid blushes "maybe I kiss you senseless would change your mind."
Hiccup shakes his head and shuts the door "she is playing me."
Two weeks later.
Astrid walk down to the arena to see Hiccup getting ready to fly Toothless and ask "does your father let you ride your dragon around Berk?"
Hiccup grins "I told him I fly Toothless here around Berk to patrol for visiting tribes and enemy ships."
Astrid ask "can you teach me how to bond with the Nadder?"
Hiccup shakes his head "maybe when you give me chance and not play with my heart and admit that you want to marry and fell in love with me, I'll teach you how to bond with the Nadder."
Astrid scowls "you have more to do before I decide that your my type of choice for a boyfriend."
Hiccup leaves with Toothless and flying around Berk.
Astrid stood in the middle of the arena.
Stoick sat in his chair with Valka beside him.
Gobber stood in the arena next to Astrid.
Stoick announced "we are here see which boy would win Astrid's hand in marriage. The first trial is combat. The second trial is facing Monstrous Nightmare."
Hiccup walked over to his parents.
Stoick ask "you did lock the Monstrous Nightmare in the cage to get it angry for trials?"
Hiccup nods his head "yes and I had to make him a deal for a whole basket of fish to himself if handle being locked up for three days."
Ingrid walked over to the Haddocks and ask "Hiccup? I need you to compete for my daughter's hand because I know you will treat her far better than any of those boys down there."
