Ch3 - He's A Dirty Pirate! Pt1
My breath, caught in my chest; as he disappeared out the window. I watched as he descended, while silently hoping; he wouldn't come back, as he was just a dirty pirate!...
As soon as he was out of sight, I headed back into my room; climbing into the bed, I shifted slightly as I got comfortable. I sighed, when I couldn't settle; why couldn't I sleep?
Was it because Hook, had implied that he would kidnap me; or because he said, he would be back for his treasure? I shivered, as I knew I couldn't let that happen; my parents have already lost so much, they don't need to lose the jewels.
Maybe I could stop him...could I stop him? He's a pirate after all, he could easily overpower me; he could also make good on his promise to ask my parents for ransom, if he were to kidnap me.
I guess the question is, would I let him kidnap me? I suppose if it meant, everything of value would be safe in the treasury room; then I guess, I've no choice but to foil his plans.
I sighed, knowing that it was stupid; I'm aware that pirates like to pillage, I'm also aware that they stop at nothing to get what they want. I knew what I needed to do, I needed to foil his plans; I couldn't let him steal anything from our treasury.
What if, I stop him; would that mean, he would kidnap me and ask my parents to pay the ransom? I shook my head, because I knew that my parents would understand.
Maybe not at first, but eventually they would understand why I traded myself for the safety of everything in our treasury. They would also pay the ransom, whatever outrageous price that Hook demanded.
It's settled, I'm going to stop Captain Hook; and if he insists, I'll just offer myself in place of the jewels. But first things first, I needed to sleep; I got comfortable, as I leaned further into the pillow below my head.
The next morning, I knew what I needed to do; I have to be near the treasury room and wait for Hook to show up, and I don't care how long it takes, I'm not letting that Pirate take anything.
And once I've made it clear, I shall trade myself for the jewels; now there was only one problem, the guard that stands outside the treasury. My parents insisted, that it be guarded; around the clock.
Would the guard stand a chance, against Hook? I shuddered, as I silently hoped that I could convince him to go to the kitchens; or even take the night off, all I need to do was stay calm, and hope the guard won't question me.
He probably won't, as I've always walked past, and no one has ever questioned it before; now I just needed to set my plan in motion, but first I need to get dressed.
I stood up, before dressing quickly; I gave myself the once over, before heading down to the treasury. I stood in the adjoining hallway, watching the guard; as he stood at the door, I breathed a sigh of relief when I noticed he was armed.
Would his sword, be any match for Captain Hook's well...hook? I shuddered again, as I didn't want anyone to get hurt; my gaze drifted from the guard, to the corridor's.
There were three, which gave Hook; three points of entry. I noticed the first corridor had an alcove, which would make a good hiding place; I wanted the element of surprise, when I finally confronted Hook.
I watched the guard, before heading to meet my parents for breakfast; I tried to stay calm, as I didn't want my parents to worry. I found my parents, at the table; my mother spoke.
"Good morning, Emma"
I smiled, as I spoke.
"Good morning, mother..." I smiled at my father, before greeting him. "Father..."
My father smiled, before speaking.
"Good morning, dear"
I sat down, my mother spoke again.
"I trust you slept well?"
I nodded, before answering.
"Yes mother, I did"
She smiled, she gave a slight nod; before the hall was filled with the sounds and smells of the food being brought to the table. It was a generous spread, my mother placed a few items on her plate; my father did the same, I let my gaze drift over the food.
I decided, on a few of the smaller food items; I chewed slowly, as I tried to think of ways to go undetected later on this evening. No one would question me, if I were to be seen near the treasury; I've walked past it before, and there is that alcove.
My parents were talking quietly, as I heard a few words here and there; I stayed quiet, throughout their conversation. We finished breakfast, I took a breath; before I spoke.
"May I, be excused?"
My mother nodded, as did my father; I made my way up to my room, I found myself looking at the window again. What if Hook came through my window again? Would my plan, still work?
If he did climb in my window, I could pretend to be asleep; wait for him to leave, before following him. If I followed him, it meant that I could still surprise him and stop him from stealing anything.
I would do anything, even if that means; I'll be his captive, and be held prisoner on a pirate ship...
