Our chapter begins with a Science class with Mrs Mendeleiv.
"Today, you'll be performing an experiment on how fire can be able to heat up objects, even without having it be on contact with a particular object," Ms. Mendeleiv explained while presenting a tray with a tower of stainless steel together, with some ash surrounding it.
"Well, metal itself is flammable, so can't it catch fire," Mylene asked curiously.
"While yes, that is true, in some cases, like with this stainless steel here, it isn't flammable and can't catch fire," Ms. Mendeleiv answered before adding, "But it doesn't mean it can't still be affected.
To demonstrate, she then pulled out a match and lit it before putting the female on the ash, the fire immediately lighting p and following the ash trail, circling the tower of stainless steel with fire.
"Ooh," the class said, surprised to see this.
Ms. Mendeleiv then asked, "So, aside from being able to melt through a myriad of different objects, what else can we see fire do"?
"It's able to heat things up," Adrien answered while raising his hand, adding in his response, "Because of its high temperatures."
"Exactly," Ms. Mendeleiv replied while saying, "Even if fire can't be able to pass onto something that isn't flammable, it can still be able to heat things up, especially with objects that are susceptible to heat, like metal."
Then, she used a spray bottle to douse the flames and then pulled out a thermometer, saying, "Look at this," before placing the temperature on the tower.
The class watched the temperature rise, as Sam said, "Because of the fire, it made the temperature of the tower of steel rise, heating it up"?
"Very good, Sam," Ms. Mendeleiv replied, adding, "And sometimes, when fire heats up an objects, it can make it even dangerously hotter than the fire itself, so you always have to be careful with what is around you when you're in close proximity with fire, though you should never be close to fire itself unless for a very good reason."
Then it's Lunch break, and for afternoon class, it's History Class where our heroes learns about the myth of Perseus and his fight against the Gorgon : Medusa.
Princess Malty was playing the piano gracefully when all of a sudden..
"Princess Malty !" Kamek and Barrel said, bursting through the door.
"GAH!" Malty yelped in shock before recomposing herself. "Jasper and Horace…! How many times do I have to tell you to knock on the door before entering…!?"
At first glance, everyone should always knock on the door before entering so as not to cause a heart attack for the one who is on the other side of the door.
"Sorry, your highness but we have something to tell you." The Dalmatian apologized before saying.
"Umm… Majesty, since when do you play the piano?" The shorter man asked with a bit of confusion.
"Huh…!?" Malty exclaimed as she watched her piano room before turning to see his two lackeys. "Bah, that's not your business, now what do you want here? I hope it's good news."
"Good news…!" Jasper and Horace spoke in shock.
"It's kinda funny you're telling it because sadly it is not something that you're waiting for…!" Jasper said with a bit of nervous laughter.
"It's something that we saw with the human alter-egos of Ladybug, Bunnyx alongside Raphtalia." Horace added.
"What did you two see?" The princess asked them both.
"What did we see?" Jasper and Horace repeated their questions to themselves.
"You know, Hawk Moth has been asking to spy any enemy and as it turns out, there's two new heroes with Ladybug and that cursed boy : Samuel "Sam" Noctis." Malty said before asking them again. "What did you two see?"
"Oh… well, we..." Jasper and horace stuttered out before being interrupted.
"Jasper… Horace…" Malty said with a slightly stern voice.
"Hmmm?" Horace said, smiling nervously.
Malty smirked before waving her finger in a 'come here' gesture, making both villains approach the lying and deceitful princess.
"I know you've been hiding something from me..." Malty said with a knowing tone, making Kamek and Barrel gulp loudly.
"Hiding... something?" Horace asks nervously.
"About those new heroes who joined Ladybug and her pathetic allies." She continued, still smirking, making horace's legs begin to shake in fear, before he hid behind Jasper who smiled sheepishly.
"The new heroes of Paris with Ladybug ?" Jasper repeated, squeaking out.
"Yeah, is that right?" Malty asks, leaning her head close to both, big smile and half-lidded eyes, pointing the tips of her fingers at Jasper and Horace, making the poor fella yelp in fear not wanting to inform about Naofumi's return and to avoid punishments just like the ones from Hawk Moth and Tsurugi.
"Should we wait until Hawk Moth arrives?" Horace asked, trying to change the subject.
"Yeah, after all he's the one who leads the Akuma attacks in the troops and…" Jasper tried to speak more.
"Oh for crying out loud, just SPIT IT OUT!" Malty shouted while waiting for their information about the heroes' team, then just Horace spit a drop of saliva to the ground, at the answer of that it made the evil princess facepalm herself. "No, I meant it figuratively, not literally."
Horace couldn't hold the truth any longer and he yelled in meltdown.
"We tried everything, princess Malty! But those heroes are unstoppable!" Jasper explained. "Even when the shield hero is part of the team! We still lose, and now he is back and he saved Raphtalia against an accident in a construction site and…!"
"The Shield hero?" Malty asks confused before gasping and realizing, and also preparing her flame magic as she asked angrily after hearing the return of Naofumi aka "The Shield hero". "WHEN DID HE RETURN?!"
Now both of them made a big mistake as they were witnessing Malty's fury.
"The Shield hero…?" Horace asked before slightly pushing Bowser away, trying to slip away while trying to appease the angry princess. "Who... who... who... who... Who said anything about that shield hero? It was Jasper the one who requested me…"
Just as Jasper was trying to sneak away and Horace was playing the fool, Malty snatched him quickly by grabbing him by the shirt's collar with the right hand and grabbing Horace by the head by using his left hand.
"You two…!" Malty spoke sinisterly as Jasper and Horace gulped nervously knowing what was coming for them.
"What are you gonna do with us?" Horace asked, terrified.
"You, Jasper!" Malty called him.
"Yes, your highness…!" Jasper nervously said.
"Put your finger close to that piano !" Instructed Malty and Jasper did exactly as Malty said then the princess slammed the piano box on Jasper's fingers.
"FIND OUT WHERE'S NAFUMI AND WHAT HE'S PLANNING WITH LADYBUG AND THAT CURSED BOY : SAMUEL "SAM" NOCTIS !" Ordered Malty furious.
"On it, Princess Malty, your words is the command !" Said Horace afraid.
"Ow! Your highness can I remove my finger from the piano box please ?" Asked Jasper in pain.
"No! As Bowser would said: Pain is the best teacher !" Replied Malty."
As Malty angrily sat back down while drowning out the sound of Jasper's painful whimpers through the keys of the piano, she then heard a new voice comment, "Isn't it always a shame when someone from your past just seems to turn up out of the blue"?
At the sound of the voice, Malty turned her head and spotted Lila, who was leaning up against the doorway, as she bitterly replied, "You don't say, Lila. It's completely unfair! It's all Naofumi's fault that I'm now who I am today! The king my father, and I had everything all simply planned; convince the kingdom that Naofumi was a traitor, a rat, a no-good scum, get him killed and rid the world of the devil of the shield, and then I could continue on with my plan of killing my youngest sister so I could be the sole heir to the throne! But no! He had to manipulate everyone into seeing that We were in the wrong, expose us, and took down everything we had ever worked for! I had it all: royalty, status, fame, glory, and it's because of him that it all got taken away from me"!
Lila simply smiled in response, saying, "what if there was a way to get back at him for it"?
"What are you talking about," Malty asked as she saw Lila walk up to her.
Lila explained, "The people here in Paris are so easy to manipulate; perhaps we could...try your plan on them"?
Malty raised an eyebrow, saying, "I..don't get it."
Lila chuckled and elaborated, saying, "It's simple. We convince the townsfolk of Paris that this Naofumi, whom you call the "Shield Hero" is a danger to society; we tell them that he is a villain working for us. That will get everyone to turn on him, including the Miraculous Heroes."
Malty grinned sinisterly, saying, "Yes, that could work," while she imagined all the pain and humiliation Naofumi would suffer if the idea worked.
Just as the girls were concluding talking about their plan, Porky came in, saying, "Pardon me, ladies, may i enter"?
"Proceed, Porky," Malty replied.
As Porky entered the room, he bit his lower lip, saying, "so, I brought some good news, but also some bad new as well."
Malty was confused, asking, "What's the good news"?
Porky explained, "Well, I heard that Naofumi, whom you appear to have much resentment for, has arrived in Paris, and as i was walking in the park, I noticed the hero alter-egos of Ladybug, Bunnix, and Banditita there as well. i figured a good way to try and make him appear as a villain was to make an explosion near a construction site that was by the park and trigger a cement ball to come loose and trap them, making him look like he was working with us."
Malty grinned, cackling as she said, "Oh my, that's such an evil scheme! How did it turn out"?
Porky let out a small hiss, saying, "That's...where the bad news is. Apparently, my plan did not work out as well as I hoped because someone had stopped the cemrnt ball before it could trap one of them. Take a look," before offering her a telescope.
Malty walked over to the window and looked through the telescope, eyeing the park and where the accident had occurred. While looking there, she saw Raphtalia, whose tail was wagging happily as she hugged Naofumi, who hugged her back, while Marinette and Alix approached Naofumi, saying something to him, most likely in gratitude for saving their friend.
This sight made Malty's blood boil angrily, causing her to let out an angry shout of rage as Porky and Lila cover their ears, exclaiming bitterly, "You devil of the shield! I'll end you and that pesky demi-human of yours! I'll end the Miraculous Heroes, and that cursed boy who's been a thorn to Hawk's Moth for how long : Samuel "Sam" Noctis ! I'll end you all"!
Malty looked on the verge of becoming engrossed by anger, and this was a sight that Hawk Moth loved.
Meanwhile...
In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth sensed Malty's boiling anger, grinning evilly.
"Aww, the princess scorned by the past of the one who brought her nothing but pain and strife? What bitter emotions that can bring? Isn't that right, my little akuma," Hawk Moth said to himself before he summoned an akuma.
He then let it loose, saying, "Fly away, and evillize her"!
The akuma flew over to where Malty was, absorbing itself into the gem in her armor.
"Magmaleficent, I am Hawk Moth," Hawk Moth communicated to her through the connection of akumatization, telling her, "I'm giving your fire powers more strength and power, allowing yourself the infinite use of lava, fire, magma, and all things that burn as hot as your anger for the Shield Hero does."
Malty smiled evilly, answering back, "And in return, I will make sure to get you the miraculouses of those pathetic heroes, Hawk Moth! They are all gonna burn in hell"!
The akumatization magic overwhelmed Malty, turning her into a villain that only seemed fitting for her personality.
Raphtalia soon broke the hug, saying to Naofumi, "Master Naofumi, I-I can't believe you're really here! How? When did-!? How's Filo and Rishia!? Are the waves still happening in Melomarc?! Wha-,"
However, before Raphtalia could ask any more questions, Naofumi, who had a sincere smile on his face (a sight that was often rare), interrupted her by saying, "Calm down, Raphtalia."
Raphtalia took a minute to catch her breath and recompose herself before saying, "Apologies, but I'm just really happy to see you, but I'm also confused too. What are you doing in Paris"?
"So that's where I am," Naofumi asked himself while looking around a bit before he answered, "Well, Filo had brought over this stone she dug up, and it opened up this really strange hole. So, I walked through it, and the next thing I knew, I wound up here and then saw that cement ball coming towards you."
Naofumi then noticed Marinette and Alix standing there, asking them, "Who are they"?
Raphtalia introduced them to Naofumi, saying, "Oh, they're some friends of mine. That's Alix and Marinette."
"Nice to meet you, Naofumi, dude," Alix commented.
"It's an honor to meet you," Marinette stated while shaking hands with Naofumi.
Raphtlia mentioned, "Marientte and Alix are members of the Miraculous Heroes Team; Alix is Bunnix, and Marinette is one of the leaders: Ladybug"
This surprised Naofumi, who asked, "Really"?
Marinette and Alix both nodded in reply.
Raphtalia then remembered something, saying, "Oh! and look," before showing Naofumi her braelet, where her Miraculous was, as it glowed, and Randy emerged, saying, "Hey, hey! What's shaking"?
Naofumi was a little startled at first, stepping back when he saw Randy, commenting in disbelief, "Ah! What the heck is that"?
Randy noticed Naofumi, saying to the Shield Hero, "Hey there! You must be that Naofumi fella Raphtalia's told me about. Nice to meet ya in person. The name's Randy, and I'm Raphtalia's kwami."
"Kwa-huh? Is that like some sort of isekai creature," Naofumi questioned the little racoon kwami.
Randy chuckled, saying to Raphtalia, "I like this guy," before explaining to Naofumi, "I'm a kwami. It's sort of like a magical creature that grants you superpowers, like that metal shield of yours," before using its tiny tail to point at Naofumi's shield.
Naofumi looked at his shield, then back at Randy, and said, "That makes sense. So, how did you meet your kwami, Raphtalia"?
Raphtalia then got a great idea, saying, "We could show you"!
At Master Fu's house...
Marinette had texted the rest of the Miraculous Heroes to come meet at Master Fu's house because she, alix, and Raphtalia had someone special that they wanted the entire team to meet.
"I wonder when they're gonna get here," Killua asked curiously.
"Note: I'm wondering who they had met that they want us to meet," Laguna pondered.
"Someone that Raphtalia knows, some guy called Naofumi Iwutami," Kim replied while scratching his head.
"That name sounds familiar, but why," Sam question himself,
Korra gasped, seemingly recognizing the name, saying, "Naofumi?! Guys, he's the Shield Hero"!
"Shield...Hero," Max asked Korra.
Korra explained, "I've read all the stories about him; he's one of the legendary 4 Cardinal Heroes! His shield is a really powerful tool that's helped him defeat countless enemies"!
"And yet you comment on me being obsessed with my Sailor Moon book collection," Kagami replied with a joking smile while Lucario snickered in response.
Soon, Marinette, Alix, and Raphtalia had made it, and the moment that Naofumi had entered the room, the team was left very surprised within his presence.
Master Fu approached him, saying, "You must be the Shield Hero; it is nice to meet you."
Naofumi shook Master Fu's hand, saying, "Feeling's mutual, old man."
"Master Naofumi," Raphtalia slightly scolded him, worried Master Fu might take offense, which caused the team to snicker.
"Uh, if I may ask, why do you call him that, Raphs," Alix asked Raphtalia.
Raphtalia replied while scratching the back of her head, "It's...complicated to explain."
Master Fu then explained to Naofumi, "Mr. Naofumi-,"
"just Naofumi, sir. The Mr. makes it sound formal," Naofumi interrupted briefly, before Master Fu continued to explain, "Understood. Naofumi, since you are here in Paris, perhaps you'd like to join the Miraculous Heroes and aid in keeping Paris safe."
Naofumi felt a little skeptical at first, saying, "Uh, I don't know. The last time someone gave me something with powers to help protect others, it didn't exactly go well with certain "people" in the kingdom I'm from."
"Give it a try, Naofumi. I was a little nervous at first, but helping to protect Paris as a superhero has taught me a lot of valuable fighting skills and it's helped me grow as a hero, and a person. I've made a lot of friends whom help me keep others safe, and treat me as equal and not like I'm different."
Naofumi gave it some thought before deciding to give it a try, saying, "Well...alright, but I don't have to do some crazy spirit ritual, will I"?
Master Fu shook his head, saying, "No rituals needed. A miraculous of choice will be provided with you; you will use it for the greater good, and hold onto it with responsibility, respect, and good integrity in protecting the Paris community. Do you accept"?
Naofumi nodded in response as Master Fu reached into the container and took out a miraculous box, giving it to Naofumi. Naofumi opened it, and inside was a silver shield-shaped pin with a copper heart in the middle, and gold lighting streaks that peaked form the heart into the edges of the shield.
He placed the pin on the edge of his cloak, as it glowed and a light emerged from it, circling around Naofumi, before it revealed to be a small kwami that looked like a miniature knight in shining armor, and it had a green feather on top of its helmet, a red-and-yellow shield on its left side, and a shield in its scabbard on its right side.
The kwami spoke, saying, "Hark! Who mayeth be the new holder of my miraculous"?
"Uh...me," Naofumi responded, asking, "Are you some sort of kwami"?
"Yes. you haveth the mind of a sharp sword of dual wits, sir Naofumi. My name be Shieldus; I shall grant you my powers and abilities so long as you utter these sacred words: Shieldus, be my shield"!
Naofumi still felt a little confused about all of this, but the encouraging smile he got from Raphtalia helped him relax a bit as he declared, "Shieldus, be my shield"!
Shieldus got absorbed into the pin, and Naofumi's appearance began to change. He gained a metallic spiky mask around his eyes covered in green emeralds, his barbarian armor turned into a metallic bodysuit that resembled armor, his shield transformed into a wider, more regal version of his shield, complete with an embroidery of a gold star, and brown hiking boots on his feet.
"Woah," the Miraculous Team said in surprise/shock.
Naofumi looked down at his new appearance, saying, "Hmmm, has a nice fit."
He noticed the sword that he now possessed as his weapon, and grinned, saying, "At least now I can also fight back and not only provide protection."
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion outside, followed by the sound of people screaming in terror.
"Looks like the transformation happened just in time. Come on, everyone," Sam ordered as the rest of the team quickly transformed into their hero personas and ran out to fight against the kwami.
Outside, Magmaleficent was causing havoc, unleashing a string of fireballs that obliterated windows and melted lampposts and other items out on the streets.
"Hahahaha," Magmaleficent cackled maniacally, declaring, "All will burn under my feet"!
"Hey, hothead," Bunnix's voice shouted in determination.
Magmaleficent turned her head and saw the Miraculous Heroes staring down at her, which made her declare, "Oh, perfect timing! You pathetic heroes really want to mess with me right now? no one can withstand my heat"!
"Well, consider your flames about to be extinguished," Cat Noir rebutted as the heroes launched into battle.
"Flames ignite," Flare-ence shouted while conjuring some flames to fight back some of the flames Magmaleficent had fired.
Magmaleficent shot a wave of lava headed towards Rena Rouge, or what appeared to be Rena Rouge, but when she "Vanished" it revealed to had been an illusion, one that Rena had conjured, and was currently hiding behind the lamppost, set to make more illusions.
A flaming fireball headed towards Purple Tigress, who dispelled it back with clout.
Magmaleficent was ready to attack again, but Illumina got upclose to her face, and activated Light Shine, blinding the villain monentarily.
Her becoming blinded also threw her aim off, which made a stray wave of lava head towards Banditita, who leaped up to didge it before landing by the now hero persona of Naofumi, saying to him, "Quick, activate your ability"!
Naofumi nodded in response before he held his shield up, saying, "Wide protection"!
A light symbol of a shield appeared in front of each hero, which indicated that they all were now gonna be temporarily protected for a period of time before it wore off.
Magmaleficient noticed the new hero and recognized him, glaring intensely at him while shouting, "YOU"!
Naofumi glared at Magmaleficent, declaring, "Yes, me! I am Squire Shield, the new holder of the shield miraculous! Prepare to fall under the grasp of our teamwork and the deflection of my shield"!
Magmaleficient tried to launch a fireball at Naofumi, but thanks to his ability, it got deflected away, protecting him from taking any damage at all.
Ladybug then summoned her lucky charm, shouting, "Lucky charm," and the item she got was a fire extinguisher.
"a fire extinguisher? Great idea! We can create smoke," Silver Claw suggested.
"Or, perhaps we could use this to douse her completely," Ryuko added on.
Banditita looked at the fire extinguisher and got an idea, declaring, "Or...we can use this to make her lower her guard"!
She whispered the plan to Ladybug, who nodded in agreement and said, "Good idea"!
She then looked up at Silver Claw and Squire Shield, saying, "Squire Shield, Silver Claw, you guys make a smoke cloud, and I'll add in the fire extinguisher! Everyone, in position"!
On cue, Squire Shield slammed his sword into the ground, and Silver Claw used Howl of the Moon to create a massive dust cloud that blinded their vision from Magmaleficent. Then, Ladybug activated the fire extinguisher and used it to make even more blinding smoke from the eye of the villain.
Then, in the smoke, Magmaleficent heard voices shout, "Oh no! The shield hero got enveloped in flames"!
"He's burning bright"!
"No one can douse the fmales and save him"!
Magmaleficient grinned, saying, "Yes! I finally got him! I finally destroyed the Shield Hero! Prepare to get his miraculous and the others, Hawk Moth"!
But in her moment of celebration, she didn't see Banditita sneak up behind her, and whispered, "Not today, B***h."
A slash from her sword destroyed the gem that the akuma was in, freeing it.
"No more evil-doing for you, little akuma," Ladybug declared as she used her yoyo to catch the akuma, saying, "Time to de-evilize"!
The yo-yo caught the butterfly and purified it, making Ladybug declare, "gotcha"!
She released it, saying, "Bye-bye little butterfly."
Magmaleficent changed back into Malty, who gasped when she realized she had been beaten.
"No! No, no, no," she exclaimed in anger, adding, "I was so close"!
"Tough luck, B***h," Squire Shield commented bluntly before he and Banditita fist-bumped together.
"You all haven't seen the last of me! I'll destroy you all," Malty screamed before running off.
"Pound it !" Said the heroes while fist-bumping, Naofumi included.
Before we finish this chapter we have 4 post-chapter scenes and without further ado here they are :
Post-chapter scene 1 :
At Sam's house, Raphtalia and Naofumi were chatting with Sam.
"So, Naofumi, how are you feeling about all of this," Sam asked.
"Not gonna lie; it's a lot to take in, but it's also thrilling in a way. It's definitely different from what I'm used to doing back in Melomarc," Naofumi replied.
Raphtalia responded to Naofumi's statement, saying to him, "It is, but it's also similar to what we've been doing in Melomarc too. We're helping to protect innocent people, we're battling, and we're saving lives. But most importantly, we're doing it together as team. I am your sword, and I'll remain by your side forever and more."
"Thanks, Raphtalia," Naofumi responded with a smile.
Naofumi then mentioned to Sam, "By the way, your Silver Claw appearance is pretty cool. that's some Howl of the Moon you got."
Sam was surprised that Naofumi had recognized his hero persona, asking, "Wait, you know about Silver Claw"?
"Yeah, there's a manga series about the hero that i like to read back where I'm from," Naofumi responded.
Sam was surprised, but happy nonetheless to hear that the legacy of Silver Claw extended in a lot of other places.
Post-chapter scene 2 :
Marinette was setting up the living room for a movie night she had her friends were planning. Everyone was already on their way to her house, and Marinette was currently double-checking to m ake sure everything was ready.
"All right, I think we have everything. Popcorn, DVD player, seats," Marinette told herself.
The minute she heard the doorbell ring, she smiled and went to open the door and let her friends in to see the movie.
Post-chapter scene 3 :
"It appears that the heroes now have another ally on them! This is outrageous," Hawk Moth bitterly declared, saying, "We need allies of our own in order to finally end their reign"!
"Perhaps you look like you could use some assistance from the "Dark" side, ol' man," a creepy voice responded.
Hawk Moth turned his head and saw Oogie Boogie standing at the doorway of his lair, whom the latter said, "I heard all about ya, and I want to help you end those heroes! There's nothing I love moe than to make people scream in terror and fright"!
Hawk Moth grinned evilly, saying, "If causing chaos is what you are after, then you are definitely in the right place. Welcome. Be warned, Miraculous Heroes; you aren't prepared for what we have next"!
Post-chapter scene 4 :
Chloe was approaching Felix, saying, "Felix, outstanding news! I found us three new recruits"!
"Oh? you have," Felix asked in interest.
Chloe nodded, saying, "Yeah! they want to help us cause trouble for those utterly ridiculous heroes! They work for that new creepy guy who's joined Hawk Moth's team: Oogie Boogie."
At the mention of his name, the three figures came forward, saying, "Hello there. We wish to join Les Enfants Terrible."
"Lock," Lock came forward first in the introduction.
"Shock," Shock went next.
"Barrel," Barrel went last, licking a lollipop in response.
Felix grinned maniacally, saying, "Brilliant. Welcome."
There we go, another chapter finished. I guess we need some more episodes chilling out, since if you saw Collusion, Chloe (the spoiled brat daughter of the Mayor) is now the Mayor of Paris, and she will turn Paris into a dictatorship without Ladybug and Cat Noir to give the Paris civilians hope.
