Izumi was sitting on the couch watching All Might save some people on tv, she was giggling with joy as she played with her All Might doll. Hisashi was in his personal office doing some work on his computer and getting annoyed at the irritating sound the child in the other room was making. He was annoyed that he had to work at home and it was because of the thing laughing like a hyena and every time she laughed, he lost his train of thought and since Inko wasn't here, he couldn't tell to shut the brat up.

"Go All Might!" cheered Izumi.

"Oh my god will you shut up" yelled Hisashi.

Before Hisashi realized what he was doing, he had stormed out the office and grabbed Izumi by the wrist. Izumi looked at her father then her wrist, he did the same as well and realized 2 things, 1: He was not in pain, 2: she was wearing a long sleeve shirt and he was holding that. He let go immediately.

"Go to your room" demanded.

Izumi ran to her room and listened to her father on the phone. From the way he spoke it was clear he was talking to Inko.

"I need you to grab some long sleeve shirts, pants and some gloves...yes for her...she wouldn't shut up...that's not the damn point...have you set up the appointment with the quirk doctor yet...get a paternity test to...because I know damn well it aint mine" said Hisashi before hanging up.

Izumi didn't know what a paternity test was, but she knew the it he was talking about. Hisashi walked into her room and stared at her with cold eyes.

"Don't leave your room until your mother gets back" stated Hisashi.

Hisashi turned off her lights then slammed her door before slamming the apartment door as he left. Izumi cried not understanding why her dad was so mad. It would have been normal to get either her mothers or fathers quirk or even both, random quirks were also a possibility. Mr. Quirk on tv talked about it and her teacher even talked about it when Kaachan got his quirk, so why her father was mad was simply to much to understand for the 5 year old.

Izumi woke up from her nap and left her room, she found her mom in the kitchen making dinner, there were also several bags on the table.

"Oh hi Izumi, go try on your new clothes and make sure you wear the gloves" said Inko.

"OK" said Izumi.

Izumi picked up the bags and went back into her room. She tried on all her clothes, most of them fit while the others were baggy, she had several pairs of gloves and put a pair on before heading back out. She didn't want to wear them but knew if she didn't, she would be yelled at again. She sat down at the table and watched her mom for a few minutes.

"What are you making?" asked Izumi.

"Katsudon" said Inko smiling at her daughter.

Izumi smiled cheerfully as it was favorite. Inko felt bad as everyone had been treating Izumi like a monster the last several days, so she figured making her daughters favorite meal would make up for that, she also told Izumi she loved her more since hugging her daughter might hurt her.

"I love you baby" said Inko.

"I love you to mommy" said Izumi.

Inko went over to the fridge and poured Izumi a cup of juice. Izumi took a sip and made face.

"Mommy the juice taste weird" said Izumi.

Inko looked at the date on the bottle then poured herself some and took a sip.

"It tastes fine to me, it's grape juice sweetie" said Inko.

"It is?" asked Izumi.

Inko was confused but took the cup and replaced it with water. As Izumi took a drink of the water, Hisashi entered the kitchen and sat down at the table as he took a drink of his coffee.

"Can you try the juice, it tastes fine to me but Izumi thinks it tastes weird" said Inko pushing her glass towards him.

Hisashi looked at his wife and daughter before trying the juice.

"It tastes fine to me, here try this" said Hisashi pushing his coffee towards Izumi. Inko gave him a look and h just smiled at her. Izumi picked up the coffee and took a drink.

"Well?" asked Hisashi.

"It's warm?" said Izumi.

Hisashi's eye twitched, he then grabbed the coffee and pushed it towards Inko who took a drink and instantly regretted it.

"Why is it so salty?" asked Inko.

"I got it made with triple extra sea salt foam, they weren't happy about that until I told them I wanted it to take the place of milk" explained Hisashi.

Izumi was confused as she didn't taste salt. Hisashi grabbed a jar of wasabi sauce and gave Izumi a spoon of it. She didn't like was wasabi, but she ate it anyway and didn't taste or feel it.

"What kind of fucked up quirk is this?" demanded Hisashi.

"We see the quirk doctor tomorrow" said Inko.

Inko served the katsudon but Izumi couldn't taste it and not wanting to upset her mom, said nothing. Hisashi watched his so-called daughter eat and knew she couldn't taste it and wasn't surprised when she went to bed without dessert.

"Good night sweetie" said Inko as she blew her daughter a kiss.

"Night mommy, can I have a hug?" asked Izumi.

"No not tonight, my back hurts, I'll leave the hall light on" lied Inko.

Inko turned out the main lights as she left the room. Izumi laid in bed listening for her parents to go to their room. She could hear them talking but not the actual words and eventually they went to bed. Izumi got up and looked out her window to watch as cars and people passed her window, the occasional hero making their patrol lap around their area. she told time by the sound of the passing train which came by every 30 minutes. After she counted 10 she got board and turned on the lights and started reading the books she knew how to read, she then moved on to drawing until she heard her fathers alarm clock. She turned off her lights and got back into bed. She listened to her father get ready and then leave for the office since Inko was home today. She watched as the sunlight went from light purple to pink then orange and finally yellow which meant her mom was about to enter her room and wake her up for the day. Izumi got dressed and went out to eat breakfast.

"Put on your gloves" said Inko.

"Yes momma" sighed Izumi.

Izumi put on her gloves then ate breakfast. They left soon after to run errands before going to the quirk doctor. While waiting in the doctor's office Izumi kept fidgeting with her gloves.

"Stop it Izumi" said Inko.

The door opened and the doctor entered and smiled at them. He was an older bald man.

"So how are we doing today?" asked the doctor.

"As well as we can be, we've had to make changes" said Inko.

The doctor put on his glasses and looked at Izumi's chest.

"Tell me what you have noticed so far" said the man.

"At school, she touched 3 people and they all felt pain, they were sweaty, pale and tired, she doesn't seem to have a sense of taste anymore" explained Inko.

The doctor removed his glasses and began taking notes.

"If you don't mind, I would like to try something" said the doctor.

"Ok" said Inko.

"Please remove your glove and take my hand" said the doctor.

Izumi looked at the doctor who held his hand out and then at her mom who looked pale but gave her the go ahead. Izumi removed one of her gloves and placed her hand in the doctors. A light sheen of sweat pooled on his head, and he began to look pale. The doctor then let go and left the room before returning to the room with 2 nurses, the first one had a sheep head and the second one was normal looking. The doctor had them both take her hand. The sheep headed nurse said they felt tired and like someone had pinched their hand, the second just shrugged as they only felt a warm hand. The doctor dismissed them.

"What's wrong with that guy?" asked Izumi.

Inko was about to scold her daughter when she noticed the man was smiling.

"Tell me why you think that?" asked the doctor.

"I don't know, he felt different from you and the sheep lady" said Izumi.

"Like there was nothing there?" asked the doctor.

Izumi was thinking about it when she responded.

"No there was something there but like it didn't have enough flavor" said Izumi.

Both the doctor and Inko were confused.

"Um it felt like oatmeal" said Izumi trying to explain herself in a way a 5 year old could.

"Oh you mean it was bland, there was something there but not enough of it" said the doctor.

"Yes" said Izumi.

Inko was confused but the doctor seemed really happy.

"First of all. your quirk is energy vampire, more specifically Quirk energy vampire, second you just helped me prove a theory that's been floating around for a while" said the doctor.

"What theory?" asked Inko.

"The inactive quirk gene theory, you see it's believed that quirk's give off energy, Active energy when it's being used by a transformer quirk or an emitter, neutral energy pretty much is all mutant type quirks, and the final one inactive energy, however that one is or was harder to prove as the probability of a energy vampire and a quirkless person being in the same room is impossibly low, the only known quirk vampire is the American hero Smokewall and it's more of a secondary ability that evolved over time in his family line" explained the doctor.

"Oh hell" thought Inko.

"That's a weird name" laughed Izumi.

"He controls smoke, so the reason your daughter can't taste might be that she is indirectly pulling in radiant quirk energy and when she touches someone, she's actively pulling it out of them so the gloves may need to stay on in case it's a constantly active ability, if you notice anything else quirk related, please do not hesitate to reach out, I might do so myself to inquire about some future studies" said the doctor cheerfully.

Inko was in her head trying her best to edit things to not include the words smoke.
