Today was the day of the sports festival and Izumi was nervous as this was a big event and could affect her future as a hero.
"Do you even want to be a hero?" asked Slimy.
"I uh I think so" said Izumi.
"You sound so confident" said Slimy.
"Shut up" said Izumi.
The former villain began to laugh then went silent. Izumi somehow knew he was smirking.
"Contenants get ready to go, we are starting soon" announced Present Mic.
Izumi stood up then noticed both Bakugo and Todoroki edging towards the starting area, their hands set to attack. Shinso was eyeing them as he got into position. Idia and Ochako stood next to Izumi with their hands out as they knew the plan. A timer began counting down until it reached go. Izumi grabbed their hands and turned to smoke, quickly passing through a small gap in Todoroki's frozen fire wall. She tossed her friends ahead before firing off some sludge bombs which glued several people in place. Izumi wasn't worried about first place, only making it to the second round.
Bakugo pushed himself to move faster and faster with his explosions. He saw Todoroki catching up but believed he was faster, he was surprised that Endeavor would let his son compete with a mutilated quirk or that he hadn't sued the freak for what she did. He looked back when Todoroki passed him.
"No!" screamed Bakugo.
Idia soon passed him as did Shinso, Bakugo refused to lose these extra's who didn't even have the common sense to avoid the monster. Screaming his rage he focused his explosions pushing himself further. He passed the purple haired freak but he could not pass 4 eyes who was slowly catching up to Todoroki. Both Iida and Shinso were overtaken at the tightrope portion.
Ochako saw the ropes coming up and decided to use her quirk, she pushed off the ground and floated towards the end. She saw Momo on a scooter just ride across with ease, followed by green smoke, Iida, Shinso and Kirishima were slowed down as they crossed but they did pass her as she was still floating. Just as she was beginning to wonder if this had been a bad idea, she felt something grab her feet and push causing her to spin.
"Clean up, Aisle 3" announced Present Mic.
"Nice job Setsuna!" laughed Vlad.
Shoto was still far ahead when he entered the second challenge which Present Mic called a mine field. Todoroki kept moving with his frozen fire and wondered if the fire was so cold it was causing the mines to malfunction. Bakugo entered the mine field and was blown to the side as his explosions caused a chain reaction. He stood up as the mines he caused to go off set off other mines. Izumi in her smoke form passed him and she was overtaken by Iida, Shinso and Momo.
"Fuck!" roared Bakugo.
"He started propelling forward again, quickly passing all but Iida. Iida focused on Todoroki causing his vision to tunnel as he poured more energy into running. He was soon passing Todoroki.
"Iida Tenya wins!" declared Mic.
Following Iida was Todoroki, then Bakugo, Momo beat Shinso by a few seconds. Izumi wasn't upset about being in 6th. A girl with pink hair made it into 7th and immediately ran over and started talking to Iida. There were more Class B then A as they had actively been sabotaging them.
"Ok children it's time for the Calvery battle, you need to make a team of 5, your goal is to steal the headbands of the other teams, to make it interesting, your placement in the race determines your points, 1st gets 1 million, 2nd, 3rd and 4th get 5000, 5th, 6th, and 7th get 500 and everyone else 100" announced Midnight.
Iida felt all eyes on him and knew he was now the biggest target. The pink haired girl quickly declared that she was on his team. He was then accosted by Bakugo who had grabbed Kirishima and Kaminari.
Todoroki and Momo agreed to be on a team and got Shinso to join, they wanted Midoriya but couldn't find her, so they got Mina and Jiro. Izumi had been snagged by Monoma which had surprised her.
"Midoriya right?, ok normally we wouldn't work with class A but you are pretty reasonable and combining your quirk with lizard tail splitter, we could easily win" declared Monoma.
"Lizard tail splitter?" asked Izumi.
"I can split parts of my body, with your quirk I can split my hands and send them out as smoke, grabbing points and keeping them in smoke form so no one can take them" explained Setsuna.
"OK" said Izumi.
The team consisted of Monoma, Izumi, Setsuna, Ibara and Pony who couldn't find a team. Setsuna was on top and they convinced Ibara to cover Izumi with her vines. Todoroki looked around at the other teams and noticed Bakugo staring at him.
Midnight cracked her whip and started the match. Bakugo wanted to take on the big teams but decided it was best to remove the small fries first, Todoroki had the same plan. Ibara and Pony focused on keeping the other teams away. Izumi turned herself to smoke, including the points and Setsuna hands which she returned to flesh to grab the points. Setsuna had her mouth with Midoriya telling her when to do so.
"Wow look at the 1 mill team racking up those points, you would think that they would have lost some by now" said Mic.
"If they had teamed up with different partners, they might have taken a more aggressive stance but both Bakugo and Kirishima are competitive" said Aizawa.
Iida used his superspeed to push Kirishima through the other team, while Kaminari used his electricity to lock up their muscles. Bakugo grabbed their headbands then looked around for his next target and saw Ibara fending off a weaker team.
"Dead ahead!" screamed Bakugo.
Pony noticed them and screamed getting Monama's attention. He quickly copied Izumi's quirk and turned them all to smoke causing the other team to pass through them. He grabbed their headbands while Ibara grabbed their ankles tripping them.
"Wow I wondered where Midoriya ended up, I didn't realize she was working with class B" said Mic.
"Midoriya is full of surprises" said Aizawa.
"Midoriya, Setsuna, Bakugo noticed I snatched his points, what do we do?" asked Monoma.
"Let go, I'll take over" said Izumi.
Izumi took over the smoke form and brought all the pieces back, She watched as Setsuna reformed but since quirks didn't work inside her smoke, there were clear lines on face and arms as her quirk did the bare minimum it could do.
"How many points do we have?" asked Setsuna
Monoma held up the 1 million headband with a smile. Izumi noticed Bakugo leaping at her, so she moved up some more.
"What are they doing!" asked Mic.
"They got the million, no need to risk it when they don't have to" said Aizawa.
"A little boring" said Mic.
"It's not against the rules, and sometimes in the field its better to leave the fight then to risk it cause unnecessary harm" said Aizawa.
Bakugo screamed then turned around to find someone to fight for points, but the teams that remained quickly scattered to the farthest corners. Todoroki put up several frozen fire walls. Bakugo tried to rush a team that was nearby but they hurled dirt at his team slowing them down until the time was up. People laughed as Bakugo was dragged from the arena.
"Well now that's been cleaned up, our next round will be 1v1 battles, lets see who the contestants will be fighting" declared Midnight.
