Hey Yo! Here is the 8th chapter of The Last Loud!
Last chapter Lisa proposed going outside to test the radiation levels of the wasteland, and in the future arc, we learned more about the Slavers, the lowest scums on the wasteland!
let's see the question I received this week!
Dimitri Gomez: Do you plan to show more factions in the wasteland?
Yes I plan to at least one other faction to appear, although it'll take some time to reach them.
The Last Loud stopped the bike. They found tire trails on the old cracked road. They were close. The Last Loud drove for about more five minutes when they saw in the distance. It was a black beaten up SUV. The Last Loud accelerated. They needed to catch that SUV.
As they approached, he saw a man put his upper body out the window holding a shotgun. The Last Loud strafed left just in time to avoid the shot.
The Last Loud used the time the man needed to reload to pull his own revolver and shoot the man.
"Gah!" They missed, the shot hit his chest, they were aiming for the head. The SUV suddenly tried to ram into their bike, The Last Loud tossed their body entirely to the left, to avoid being hit. The Loud looked back to the man at the window had reloaded the shotgun and was aiming. They had to make a sudden break to avoid having their brains splattered on the decrepit pavement.
They used the fact they were right behind the SUV to pull the revolver once again and shoot, not the man, but the lock for the trunk, which swung open.
There she was, tied on the trunk, it was a very young latina girl with brunette hair. She looked at The Last Loud in shock and surprise. They lifted the revolver again, and the girl, to protect herself, lifted her tied hands. The bullet passed right between her hands, cutting the ropes, without even hitting her.
She looked at her now free hands and then to The Last Loud, who just nodded and accelerated.
The bike meet up with the driver door of the SUV, it's driver again tried to ram it onto the bike, the man with the shotgun reappeared on the window and again aimed at the Loud.
But before it could shot, the girl sprung from the trunk, tackling the man, making him shot into the sky. A second man that was inside the SUV tackled her back, she tried to push him back but the man, with his size, overpowered her. Until my she used all her strength on her legs and pushed the man forwards, making a judo throw, and the man flew out the open trunk, hitting hard the ground and rolling over, being left behind.
"You little shit!" The man with the shotgun said, pointing his weapon to her, just to receive a bullet right in the ear. The Last Loud shot him through the window. The man fell sideways, dropping the shotgun.
The driver of the SUV looked back, and saw the corpse of his colleague and reached for the shotgun. The girl jumped on it, and both grabbed the gun. The girl tried to pull the gun away from him, while he, with just one hand, as the other was on the wheel, pull the shotgun.
In the confusion, the girl accidentally pulled the trigger, blasting the door of the SUV, destroying it and fall, The Last Loud had to dodge the door while driving in high speed to keep with the SUV.
The man roared and shoved the girl on the passenger seat, and grabbed from his holster a semi auto pistol and pointed to her.
Before he could pull the trigger, he heard a whistle, calling for him, he looked to the other side, and saw The Last Loud pointing their own shotgun on his direction.
Blood showered as the face and entire frontal side of the head was blown off. The girl screamed, as the body fell on the wheel, his feet still on the accelerator. The SUV started to bob left and right as it was without control, one bump in the road and the SUV would roll over.
The Last Loud drove the bike as close as they could to the SUV, and extended their hand.
The girl closed her eyes and jumped. Just in time, as the SUV hit a rock and toppled over, rolling several meters, destroying the already beaten up car.
The girl had closed her eyes, but when she opened them, she noticed she was being held by the Last Loud, with one hand on the handlebar of the bike and the other wrapped securely around her.
The Last Loud slowed the bike to a holt and released the girl. They looked at each other for a few seconds, in silence.
"I…" She said, twisting her feet on the dirt and twirling her thumbs. "Thank you for rescuing me…"
The Last Loud said nothing, just stood in silence, then made a single slow nod. She smiled.
"I'm Cassie!" She said with a little jump and extended her hand, offering a shake. The Loud said nothing. Cassie withdraw the hand. "So… What's your name?" The Last Loud stood in silence. "You know that's rude to ignore people, right?" The Loud stood in silence for some seconds before answering.
"Loud. Call me Loud." The biker said, the voice modulator distorting the voice to the point that it was indistinguishable between a male or a female voice.
"Loud, Got it!" Cassie said. "You know Loud I was SO scared my mom told me about the Slavers and what they did I thought that it would be the end for me but then you appeared with your bike like vroom vroom and they started shooting but you shot back bang bang! You opened the trunk with a shot! That was so awesome! And you freed me with another shot! I was so worried that you would just shoot me but no you had the precision to shoot the hopes on my hand while driving a bike pursuing another vehicle! That was the coolest thing! When I saw the guy grabbing the gun I had to help! So I jumped on him and the other tried to help him but I managed to throw him out of the car! And when I was going to die you again had the precision to shoot the man on the head through a car window in a vehicle pursuit! And then I saw the driver trying to grab the gun and I was like Nuh Uh and tried to pull it away from him but we blasted the door and you exploded his brains out! That was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!!!" She spoke in a single breath.
The Loud remained silent, observing the kid speak more and more, until they found a window so they could speak, when she really needed to breathe.
"Try to save that to your mom." They said grabbing the handlebars.
"My mom? You're taking me back to her?" She asked.
"Hop on." The Last Loud said, and the girl did as ordered, sitting holding them from behind.
"Hey, what's your gender?" She asked. The Last Loud started the bike.
"Does it matter?" They sped up the bike.
I stepped out of my room, wearing the armor Lisa made. It was surprisingly light weighted and very comfortable. It wasn't bulky but form fitting, it had metal plates covering the shoulders, chest, arms and ankles, along with smaller plates covering the rest of the body, leaving room for articulation.
The inside it was padded with a soft fabric that I couldn't identify, the chest had a plug for the tube that I would have to connect to the mouth piece of the helmet and press a red button on the side of the belt, to activate the life support system.
By I couldn't do that now, as I didn't had the helmet yet, I walked back to Lisa's lab, Lynn was already there, wearing her suit.
"Looking good." She said as I walked in.
"Thanks, you too." I responded, as we both turned to Lisa.
"Good, good, the armors fit well. What's your notes on them?" Lisa asked.
"Is lighter than I expected." I said. "And not bulky at all, I have all range of motion." I concluded, stretch my arms.
"I think it's a little tight on the chest." Lynn said.
"Good." Lisa noted on her notepad, seemingly without acknowledge Lynn's remark. "We are ready."
N/A: So yeah, this chapter it was almost entirely on the future, and originally it wouldn't have a past section at all, but I put the beginning of next chapter here to not make you upset for not having anything on the past.
And we met and rescued Cassie! She'll be a big player on the future arc, along with her mother.
I wanted Cassie's personality to contrast with The Last Loud's, so I based her personality in some characters that are lively and upbeat, like Star Butterfly, from Star vs the Forces of Evil, and Mabel Pines, from Gravity Falls.
This chapter was almost entirely a action sequence, originally it was going to be way shorter, and wouldn't be a car chase, but just the Loud meeting the Slavers while they camped, but when I started writing, I had the idea of making a car battle like Mad Max, and personally, I quite enjoyed the result.
If you have a question, or have anything you want to share, please, feel free to comment, if you want to speak with me personally, you can DM me, I'll try to respond everyone next week! If you really liked the story, you can follow or favorite the story, and you'll receive notification when I post the next chapter!
I think this is all, I deeply thank you for reading, 'till next chapter.
Bye.
