Last chapter Blight fought and defeated almost everyone, but one man still stands on his way!

But first let's answer today's question!
Dimitri Gomez: When Blight absorbs part of person's life force, does that person lose years of life?
Well, I think I didn't explained deeply how Blight's piwers works, so, I'll try to explain it and maybe clear out any misconceptions okay? Blight can absorb the energy that a person creates on their body, but not in a literal, life force way, more like, sucking all the nutrients and energy that your body created with your alimentation. He does not rob someone's life.
Now, let's go to the chapter!

It's something that since Day Zero people didn't thought about. With the destruction of the society as we know, people lost hope about a bright future. People didn't had dreams anymore. Someone that wanted to become a famous athlete couldn't be it anymore, someone that wanted to go to college and get a degree to get a good job and earn their own money, couldn't do it anymore.
The only thing that people wanted, was survive. Or die if your surviving isn't going too well.
But some few people still thought about the future. Some still think that they could have a bright future, despite the conditions we find ourselves in.
Lincoln Tesla is one of those people. He saw the sun dawn everyday and is excited to what he could do that day to bright the future not only of his, but for everyone who still live.
For a long time he thought his dream to advance society was just that. A dream. For a long time he was stuck. But since he made friends with Loud and their crew... He could finally blast off.
"That armor." Lana spoke. It was a lot like her own. Could it be?
"Yet another one?" Blight spoke with annoyance on his voice.
"Yes my dear monstrosity, yet another one to challenge you!" Link spoke theatrically. "But before a mindless demonstration of violence, let me illuminate you and my dear friends a little more!" Link asked, still keeping his theatrical gestures. Blight shifted his weight between his legs. Something on his body language made Link smirk behind his helmet. He felt that Blight was curious. Otherwise, he would have already attacked him. Yeah.
That curiosity that Blight demonstrated, even if only for a instant, made Link deduce a lot about his adversary. He also shared the intrinsic curiosity that every living being had. And this also meant that he also had other intrinsic values and motivators that living beings have. He may call himself as a god. But he wasn't more than a human.
Or at least was one day.
This doesn't mean Blight can be regenerated or reasoned with. That was a man that had enslaved hundreds if not thousands of people, killed them, and created a cult and put himself at the top as their god.
That man suffered from a case of megalomania, sociopathy, psychopathy, a god complex and maybe narcissism.
Poor man.
Link couldn't do anything for him. Blight was way too far down the hole he had dug himself. After reflecting about Blight, Link concluded, The only thing he could do was stopping him.
"Well, my friends, first of all, I have to thank you Loud, thanks to your suggestion, I was able to realize everything you see here! With the generator you helped me create, I was able to confirm my theory and revolutionize all the technology that humanity ever created!" Link spoke, theatrically branding his arms up, signaling to his drones.
"Theory?" Himiko asked. "You never told us anything about that." Link put one hand on his hip and pointed up his other hand.
"Oh dear Himiko, that's where you are wrong! I actually tried to tell all of you about my research and theory but you never listened or paid attention! What I don't really blame, if I didn't had confirmed, I also would think it was ludicrous!"
"What are you talking about?" Cassie asked, confused. She turned to Himiko. "What is he talking about?"
"Dear Cassie, let me shine a little of knowledge on you! About 2 years ago, while I was building one of my first prototypes of a ray gun, I made a mistake and exploded the prototype." He explained.
"Like usual." Himiko spoke.
"But, for a second, I got a reading on my sensors that was different, something new! After months of researching, and making mostly controlled explosions, I identified what was that unusual reading! It was a new, unknown molecule!"
Lana lifted her head, she probably was the only one that had the remote idea of what he was talking about. She looked at Blight. The mutant was looking at Link, without even moving. Link had grabbed not only his attention, but his interest. She thought in attacking Blight on the back, but this would not only be dishonorable, but it also very dangerous. Blight might be paying attention on Link, but he also could have an eye on them.
"I tried to recreate the molecule manually, for years, I tried to create a energy core that could generate enough energy to stably create said molecule. But when Loud gave me the idea of a circular shaped crystal core, and I put the idea to work… it worked! The energy core could supply sufficient energy for the generator, and I was able safely create the molecule!"
Blight said nothing. He just continued to look Link, studying him and what he was saying.
"I had in the theory that this molecule could make the impossible, possible! But I never had the means to prove it, and finally, discover the true properties of the molecule, but I did! In just some days, was was able to implement the properties of the molecule into so many things that would revolution the human society if it was still intact. And now is the time to show all the progress I made, in just some days!"
Link pressed his knuckle into his palm, making some blue light activate around the armor.
"Let's start easy… with my 1st gear!" He put himself into a position of combat. "Shall we?"
"It was a great speech kid." Blight spoke finally. "I have to be honest. I am impressed. You would be a great asset on my ranks." Link laughed.
"I'm flattered, but no thanks, I rather defeat you so you won't hurt anyone anymore!" Link spoke.
"Then…" Blight made a sudden charge, quickly approaching Link and punched the small boy, lifting a curtain of mist from the dirt of the ground.
When the mist came down, Link was a feet away from where Blight had punched the ground. The mutant tried to backhand Link, who summersaulted above the arm and struck a punch on the side Blight's head, the same that Lana had blown.
Blight shouted in pain and rage and looked at Link, who was in fighting position again. Blight delivered punch after punch, and Link dodged each one by stepping back. It was like he had a precognition, or had his reflexes enhanced.
But one last unexpected straight punch from Blight caught Link off guard, hitting him on the chest, and making him slide back several feet.
Link held his chest. That punch had hurt. "That one was a good one." Link compliments. "Hum… the 1st gear had quite a response time for your speed… but not enough to create the desired response. And the strength, although being strong enough to make you feel… also isn't strong enough to really create lomg lasting damage..."
"What are you rambling about?" Blight asked annoyed.
"I, am rambling, about shifting into 2nd gear!" Link shouted, as steam came off several places of the armor. The boy grunted.
"Link? What's happening to you?" Cassie asked concerned.
"I still didn't tested the 2nd gear onwards… It appears that it may overheat the armor…" Link explained.
"Than don't use it!" Cassie suggested. Link laughed and looked at her, and made a loud laugh, before pointing up.
"As my duty as a man of science, I need to test the limits of my invention!"
N/A: I think that I could finally show exactly how was the characterization I wanted from Future Lincoln on this story here, a crazy scientist that loves progression and the capability of humans to change, evolve, adapt and overcome!
This characterization (and the fight going into the the next chapter) is very inspired by Nicola Tesla's portrail in Shuumatsu no Walkure, that, in my opinion, is the best character from the manga so far!
The armor Linc developed is also inspired by Tesla's armor in the manga, but I also made a addition to the concept to make more interesting, and they're the gear system, that woth each gear, Linc gets stronger, and his horizons spand more!
And about the Molecule? well, more about it on the next chapters!
