Chapter 60

Pokémon race

As Lincoln and the group ride their bikes, they stumble a huge field.

"Wow, this field is like the one around Liam's farmhouse," Lincoln said.

"Yeah," Clyde said.

Bobby suddenly sees a herd of Pokémon run by." hey guys what's that?" he asked.

The group sees the herd resembling bulls but with three tails." whoa what are they?" Lincoln asked pulling out dexter.

"Tauros, the wild bull Pokémon, a normal type, its hot temper makes it a challenge to control, even for advance trainers," Dexter explained.

"Wow, so they're stubborn like Lori, Lynn, and Lola," Lincoln said.

everyone snickered," well, I'm gonna catch one," Bobby said pulling out a pokeball.

"HOLD IT!" a girl appeared riding a Pokémon horse with a Firey main and a growlith. her sudden appearance made Bobby trip and fall.

"Hey what gives?" Bobby asked.

"You little sidewinder those Tauros belong to a friend of mine," the girl replied.

"Sorry miss, we didn't know," Ronnie Anne said." hey, our friend jenny has a growlith too."

"Well, seeing that your nice people, so I'll let it go," the girl replied." names Lara." and this my growlith helps protect the Pokémon from poachers."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Lincoln and this is Pikachu," Lincoln said.

"I'm Ronnie Anne, this is Eevee and my big brother Bobby," Ronnie and said as Bobby gets up.

"I'm Clyde," Clyde said.

"Names brock miss," brock said.

"And I'm misty," misty said.

"Nice to meet you all," Lara said.

Lincoln sees the horse Pokémon, suddenly a vision of it appears in his head but it had blue flames on it." Ponyta," he said."

"You know my Pokémon?" Lara asked.

"Kind of, it's hard to explain," Lincoln replied as he pets Ponyta."

"Somehow, I believe you," Lara said." usually Ponyta's flame lights up and burn someone it doesn't know, but with you she's comfortable."

"Maybe he has a way with Pokémon from a past life," Ronnie Anne said.

"you're probably right sis," Bobby said.

Suddenly another herd of Pokémon comes running by fast resembling ostrich but with three heads, until one stops Infront of them with a boy riding on it.

"Howdy Lara," the boy said as Lincoln points Dexter to the three headed Pokémon.

"dodrio, the triple bird Pokémon, a flying type, Dodrio's head contains joy, sorrow, and anger thus having three brains. its super smart and invents complicated plans to win battles," Dexter replied.

'I can tell that Lisa would want to examine it, that's what scares me. but coming up with plans like me, maybe I'll catch one,' Lincoln thought."

"we're gonna win the Pokémon race tomorrow," the boy said."

"Takes more than speed to win a race," Lara said."

"Just get ready to lose Lara," the boy said as his Dodrio runs off."

"Who was that jerk?" misty asked.

"he's Dario, a real jerk around here," Lara said."

"what's talk about a race?" Bobby asked."

"Every year, our town has a race to represent our farms," Lara replied." and I've won every year."

"Wow, Ponyta must have been trained well," Lincoln said."

"Yup, why not join me, we're having a festival tonight," Lara said.

"Sounds good to us," Bobby said.

Festival (nighttime)

The group were enjoying the festival playing games, earning prizes and eating delicious food.

"This food is delicious," Clyde said."

"I'll say," Lincoln said."

"Maybe we'll invite our family here," Bobby said.

Suddenly the Tauros went on a stampede, the group help Lara calm them down and sends them back to their pins.

"Thanks for the help, guys," Lara said." I wondered how this happened?"

Then a mysterious shadow spooks Ponyta making Lara fall and hurt her arm.

"LARA!" Clyde yelled."

The others try to help her up, but her arm was to injured to move. Lincoln was calming down Ponyta succeeding.

"Man, what could have caused this?" Lincoln asked.

Unkown to them Dario was talking to a punk kid," good work, now that Lara is out of the race it'll be an easy victory," he said as he paid the kid."

What Dario didn't know that Ronnie Anne's Eevee was watching the whole thing.

At Lara's house,

"With my arm like this, I won't be able to race tomorrow," Lara said depressed.

"There has to be another way for you to race," Clyde said."

"Wait, maybe Lincoln should," Ronnie Anne said."

"Wait what?!" Lincoln asked."

"Hey, yeah, little loud really knew how to handle Ponyta," Bobby said.

"that's true," Lara said." well Lincoln, will you, do it?"

"Sure thing," Lincoln said as Ponyta rubs her cheek on his cheek."

"Ronnie Anne," Eevee said."

"Yeah," Ronnie Anne replied.

"I saw Dario talking to a kid about the incident," Eevee said."

"So, Dario is planning to cheat to win," Ronnie Anne said."

"But we can't prove it," Bobby said."

"Unless we catch the kid in the act," Clyde said."

"Yeah, while I'm in the race, you guys find the kid and "persuay" him to confess," Lincoln said.

"Good idea," Lara said."

The next day, at the race starting field. Lincoln (on Ponyta's back), Brock (on Onix's Back), and Misty (on Starmie's back) were ready to race, as Dario shows up.

"Well, well, looks like Lara couldn't make it," Dario said taunting."

"that's why, I'm filling in for her and kick your worthless butt," Lincoln said.

"we'll see about that," Dario said as the kid from last night was sneaking off."

"Alright racers, I want a clean race, no cheating," the announcer said." on your marks, get set, go!"

The racers Pokémon start running from the starting line. during the race a racer's Taurus suddenly get hit by something causing it to hit a Nidorina in the butt. Nodorina gets mad and fights Tauros. the punk kid is seen with a slingshot snickering.

"Heh, too easy," the kid said."

"See, I was right," Eevee said."

"Good thing we're recording this," Bobby said."

"let's follow him," Ronnie Anne said as the she and the others follow the kid.

The racers make it up a hill and start heading down, then a racer with an electrode started picking up speed. as the racer takes the lead, he and his electrode fall in a hole, while Dario takes the lead. as the other racers run by, electrode suddenly explodes causing some of the racers to get knocked out. Lincoln on the other hand managed to get Ponyta to jump high enough to dodge the explosion.

"Darn it!" the kid said as he runs off."

"There he goes!" Clyde said."

The group continue to follow the kid and record his misdeeds. The rest of the racers come across a lake with large circle panels to help them cross, a racer with his Ryhorn stepped on the one of the panels then suddenly sinks because of its weight making Brock's Onix to quit."

"that's ok we tried," Brock said patting Onix on the head."

Misty on the other hand was riding Starmie through the lake," we'll go one ahead," she said.

Lincoln and Ponyta run through the panels easily," we got this," Lincoln said.

Lincoln, Misty, and Dario make it a rest stop to get some food, Dario's Dodrio's heads start fighting over food." alright Ponyta time for a break," Lincoln said.

"Alright Starmie lets go," Misty said."

Starmie suddenly get hits with sludge," Starmie!" Misty yelled.

"See ya," Dario said as he takes the lead again."

"Ha," the kid said until Ronnie Anne grabbed him."

"Hi there," Ronnie Anne said.

"Nice work guys, Ponyta let's go!" Lincoln said as Ponyta runs fast catching up to Dario."

"No problem and as for you," Bobby said looking at the kid."

Dario continues to take the lead to the finish line until Lincoln catches up," huh, how'd you get close?" he asked.

"we're catching up!" Lincoln said.

As they catch up Dario made his Dodrio peck Ponyta making her fall behind a bit," cheap shot Dario," Lincoln said.

"I do what I have to do win," Dario said as Dodrio runs faster."

"That lousy cheat," Lincoln said."

Ponyta got really fired up then started evolving, growing bigger and grew a horn resembling a Firey unicorn.

"Whoa Ponyta just-," Lincoln said.

"Evolved into rapidash!" Lara said from the stands."

"I can't believe it!" Dario said."

Rapidash catches up to Dodrio being neck and neck, as they reach the finish line Rapidash's horn reaches the goal making her and Lincoln the winners as everyone cheers.

"They won!" Lara cheered."

"Nice work Rapidash," Lincoln said."

"You cheater!" Dario said."

"Look who's talking," Bobby said as he brings the kid out along with the kid's angry mother."

"We know you made Lara hurt her arm," Clyde said." we have footage of this kid's confessions and the stuff he did during the race."

Clyde shows the footage of Dario telling the kid to cause a stampede, hurting Lara, and sabotaging the other racers to the announcer." Dario, you are banned from every race!" the announcer said."

"And my son is going to be disciplined when we get home," the mother said pulling the kid's ear."

"You ruined everything! go get them!" Dario said as he and Dodrio charged at Lincoln."

Rapidash kicks them both and their sent flying.

"don't worry, he'll get worse punishment," Lara said."

(getting off Rapidash)" there's nothing worse than a sore loser," Lincoln said.' I'm just glad Lynn changed.'

"I agree," Lara said." right Rapidash?"

Rapidash started licking Lincoln's face making everyone laugh.
