A/N I had an idea for Rowena to have a bad dream, so combined with what James said to her last chapter, I decided to have her relive hitting Eleanor. Rowena also cries with a friend later.
The day after James was so mean to her, Rowena woke up in tears from having a bad dream. Her fitter found her that morning, crying and wailing loudly, her face tear-stained and wet from her weeping as hard as ever she could. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! She gave big sniffles, too.
"There, there, Rowena," he said, pulling out a cloth hanky to dry her tears. "I want you to feel better, so go ahead and cry. I'm here to wipe the tears from your eyes.". He gently rubbed her cheeks and softly wiped her tear-wet eyes.
Rowena cried some more. She sniffled again, hard, coughed as she choked on her tears and hiccupped. She gasped and gulped, shaking with wailing sobs as great tears poured from her eyes, not once stopping as her fitter comforted her.
He said, as he continued to wipe her tears away, "You can rely on me to dry your eyes. It was just a bad dream, given you woke up in tears.". He held his hanky to her eyes, letting her sob into it and wiped all her tears away as best he could.
Rowena's driver came and her fitter said, "I've got a sodden handkerchief, so you comfort her. She woke up like this, so I think she's had a dreadful nightmare."
Her driver climbed on their engine's buffers, pulled out a cloth from his pocket and dried her tears. "There, there, Rowena," he said, gently rubbing her cheeks and softly wiping her wet eyes. "Just cry. Let it all out. I sense you're so upset about that nightmare."
Rowena continued to weep non-stop, huge water droplets pouring from her eyes as her driver comforted her. She was still wailing and sniffling loudly.
He said, as he continued to wipe her tears away, "I just want you to have support and comfort. These great tears are you saying "I hurt in my heart." without the words.". He pressed the cloth to her eyes, for her to sob into and wiped all her tears away as best he could.
Rowena's weeping and wailing went on until she had no more tears to cry. "I-I h-had a-a dr-dream a-about h-hitting E-Eleanor, a-a n-nightmare a-about wh-what h-happened. I-I h-hurt i-in m-my h-heart.", she said, as soon as she could speak through her tears. Her driver dried her last tears away, patting them from her cheeks and dapping them from her eyes until they were dry. He went to the cab with the sodden cloth and refilled her radiator. She smiled, feeling better after crying and went about her first job singing.
Rowena found her friend, Charity, having a severe crying spell as they went about their day. She gave her friend a buffer press, though she saw her friend had her driver to speak comfort as he dried her tears with a cloth. Rowena looked compassionately at her friend, filled with empathy.
Charity's driver said, "She's having a bad time now, bawling her eyes out most of the time. Luke's loss has been very hard for her. He was her best friend.". He held a piece of cotton waffle cloth to her eyes, wiping away her tears.
Rowena began to cry with her friend, sobbing and sniffling loudly as huge tears streamed from her eyes. "Dr-Dry m-my t-tears, Dr-Driver," she said. Every word was another big sob and her face was wet with tears.
Rowena's driver emerged from the cab to comfort her. "There, there, Rowena," he said, pulling out a cloth from his pocket to dry her tears. "I know you feel bad for your friend, so let the tears get out.". He gently rubbed her cheeks and softly wiped her eyes.
"I-I h-hurt i-in m-my h-heart t-to s-see m-my f-friend f-feeling th-this w-way sh-she i-is," Rowena said, crying and sobbing more. "I-I u-understand h-how sh-she f-feels a-and I-I c-care." She sniffled again, hard, coughed as she choked on her tears and hiccupped. She gasped and gulped, shaking with sobs as her driver comforted her.
He said, as he continued to wipe her tears away, "I know you're extremely sensitive, Rowena. I wish I could wipe your hurt, so I shall wipe your eyes. You can rely on my comfort and support until you feel better. I'm here for you, to dry your eyes. I know it pains your loving heart when your friends hurt.". He held the cloth to her eyes, for her to sob into and wiped all her tears away as best he could.
Diesel 10 came and said, "Cry-engines!", from the standard-gauge line.
Rowena sobbed until she could cry no more. Her driver dried her last tears away, wiping her cheeks and eyes dry of tears, then went back to the cab with the sodden cloth and refillled her radiator. Rowena smiled, feeling better, then went on with the rest of her day singing as she rode the rails until her work was done.
A/N In my Thomasverse, engines of the same gauge can buffer press even if one's diesel and one's steam, as long as one or both have buffers. Rowena has a diesel buffer. The Rowena The Soft-Hearted Engine chapters are in a timeline from Rowena's Story. I found something online about cotton waffle cloth, so I decided Charity cries into that at her worst, because of how absorbent it is and how much she can cry due to her anxiety. Cotton knit is the cloth of choice for most drivers for their engines. Because of what I know about anxiety crying, the intensity and frequency of her crying's variable, sometimes once in a while, of and on or most of the time and it's sometimes slight, moderate or severe. The part about Charity's for new readers who may not have read her story. If grief, she cries severely and most of the time, overwhelmed with emotion. She's the type to cry when overwhelmed with emotion and grief emotions are that way for her. Rowena's tears with Charity are TvTropes' Tender Tears. Because of how sensitive, loving and caring she is, seeing her friends in grief just breaks her heart.
