Virtue and Venom: Chapter 23
Anko's apartment: With Mamushi, Anko, Ino and Kurenai
"Ok Mamushi" Kurenai said looking at the pale girl sitting on the couch across from her "in 4 hours you have a date with Sasuke; so, me Anko and Ino are going to help you prepare" she said and Mamushi tilted her head to the side.
"I get why Ino and Anko want to help but why are you here" Mamushi asked and Kurenai crossed her arms.
"I know Anko better than anyone" Kurenai said "so I know that her bad manners and habits probably rubbed off on you; so I'm responsible for making you more lady like" she said as she looked over to Anko. Kurenai then grew a tic mark as Anko wasn't paying attention and was eating dango.
Anko finished eating her dango and let out a loud burp before looking at Kurenai and Ino who were looking at her in disgust "sorry did you say something" Anko said and Kurenai slapped her forehead.
"And it looks like Kakashi sensei rubbed off on Anko" Ino said before looking at Mamushi "well my job here is to spruce up your looks" Ino said and Mamushi smiled at this. "I'm going to make you look cute and proper for this date" she said and Mamushi cheered.
"Awesome; I'm glad it's you Ino you are like the prettiest girl I know" Mamushi said and Ino rubbed the back of her head bashfully.
"And I'm here to help you charm the Uchiha's pants off" Anko said gaining Mamushi's attention "you need to know how to talk to him, how to find his ticks and habits and how to read his personality" she said and Mamushi nodded.
"Ok so manners, looks and conversation" Mamushi said before taking a deep breath "let's do this" Mamushi said with vigor.
With Naruto, Sasuke, Jiraya and Kakashi: Naruto's apartment
"Ok we got 4 hours to help your emo ass for this date; so, we need to get started ASAP" Naruto said to Sasuke who was sitting at the table.
"How hard can it be" Sasuke said confused "It's just a date; I just needed advice" he said; Sasuke then saw all the disapproving head shakes from all 3.
"You really are a dumbass in all but fighting" Naruto said making Sasuke gain a tick mark "women are complicated as shit; hell, I've been dating Ino for damn near a year already and I still can't figure her out" Naruto said. "But you haven't shown any interest in anything other than killing your brother up until 3 weeks ago; so, you're basically starting late" Naruto said.
"So how are you going to help me" Sasuke said.
"I got a lot of experience from dating Ino" Naruto said "So I'm going to give you tips and tricks in order to not screw up" he said and Sasuke nodded.
"I'm known for being an expert on ladies and their mental working" Jiraya said without an ounce of restraint "so with my knowledge of the female mind I can help you catch her attention and catch her heart" he said.
"And I'm here to teach you how to be 'cool' as they say" Kakashi said and Sasuke looked at him confused.
"Huh; cool" Sasuke said "up until I graduated from the academy, I had to deal with those damn fan girls; hell, Naruto Ino used to be one" Sasuke said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, but she saw I was a lot better than you and she dropped you like a bad habit" Naruto said with a smirk and Sasuke proceeded to flip him off.
"That whole 'brooding loner' thing may have worked on those brainless fan girls" Kakashi said gaining Sasuke's attention "but that won't work on Mamushi; up until you asked her out, she probably only saw you as a friend, now you need to break through that barrier or you're going to lose her" Kakashi said and Sasuke sighed.
"Alright I get it" Sasuke said defeated by all their points "when do we start" Sasuke said and all 3 smiled.
Konoha park: 4 Hours later
Sasuke was standing in the middle in of the park where he said he was going to meet Mamushi; he was wearing a black collared dress shirt, dark blue jeans and newer looking sandals. Naruto, Jiraya and Kakashi knew Sasuke would look weird in brighter colors so they stuck with shades of black and blue.
'Ok now I just got to wait for Mamushi' Sasuke thought as he clenched his fists 'there's no need to worry; it's only Mamushi' he thought. 'I fought 2 S-class ninja and killed Itachi; I think I can handle- 'he began until he heard a voice.
"Hey Sasuke; you're here" Mamushi called out; Sasuke turned around and felt his heart skip a beat. Mamushi was wearing a light purple sundress courtesy of Ino and had on white dress shoes; her hair appeared to be straighter, softer and more taken care of than usual and she had on very light make-up consisting of light purple eye shadow and a little blush "wow I like your shirt; I never seen you in a collared shirt before" Mamushi said.
Mamushi looked at Sasuke who was wide eyed 'oh crap how did I not realize how cute she was' Sasuke thought internally.
"Umm Sasuke are you ok" Mamushi said tilting her head snapping Sasuke out of his thoughts.
'Oh, shit I was staring' Sasuke thought as he composed himself "you look nice Mamushi" Sasuke said cooly with a small smile and Mamushi brightened up.
"Thanks Sasuke" Mamushi said as she went next to him and grabbed his hand "you ready to go" she said and Sasuke nodded; Sasuke and Mamushi began to walk out of the park towards their first destination.
BBQ restaurant
Sasuke and Mamushi both entered the BBQ restaurant and got a table for themselves; as they sat down unknown to either of them Naruto and Ino both were sitting in another booth a few tables down.
"Ok so far so good" Naruto said as he looked at them "at least he's no longer acting like an ass" he said and Ino giggled.
"Oh, be nice" Ino said as she looked at Mamushi "I've never seen her this happy; I remember when she practically burst into the flower shop screaming about how Sasuke asked her out; me and my mom had a total girl freak out" she said and Naruto chuckled. "Remember when we came here on our first date" Ino said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, I ate ordered the party plater by accident and finished the whole thing" Naruto said "man the next day was awful; had to take the day off for indigestion" he said.
"And I came over and gave you an herbal tea my mom made" Ino said "good times" she said.
Mamushi and Sasuke both ordered their drinks and began to read the menu "so Sasuke how're you doing since your eye surgery; are your eyes still sensitive to light" Mamushi asked. Mamushi was doing what Anko told her to do; ask about his general welfare to show that she cared.
"My eyes are doing fine" Sasuke said "my eyes are no longer sensitive to light; I'm thankful I don't have to wear those damn sunglasses no more" he said and Mamushi giggled. "How're you doing; how's your work at the Anbu Disposal Division" Sasuke asked doing what Jiraya said to do; show interest in her work.
"It's going great" Mamushi said with a smile "the people are nice, I have good hours, medical is amazing; oh, and I just won employee of the month" Mamushi said with a little bit of pride and Sasuke looked surprised.
"Employee of the month eh" Sasuke said with a small smile "looks like you're moving up in the world" he said; Sasuke and Mamushi both chatted up until they got their food. When they were finished eating Sasuke paid the bill and both got up and went off.
In the streets
Sasuke and Mamushi were both walking hand in hand onto the second part of the date with Naruto and Ino following behind them; as Sasuke and Mamushi walked they arrived at the movies.
"I pre-ordered the tickets last month and luckily they still had an open seat so I got one for you too" Mamushi said and Sasuke smiled; Mamushi went up to the ticket box and spoke to the lady. "2 tickets for Mamushi" she said and the ticket lady nodded.
"Got it; 2 tickets reserved for 'Momoiro Magical Girls: The movie'" the ticket lady said and both Ino and Naruto face faulted.
"Oh, shit she got tickets to that magical girl anime she likes" Ino said "there's no way Sasuke be into that" she said.
"Oh, damn we did not think this through" Naruto said.
Sasuke looked at the poster for the movie and saw a bunch of girls in glittery magical girl costumes 'man that movie looks boring as hell' Sasuke thought; he then turned to Mamushi and saw how happy she was 'damn I can't say no… man this is going to be girlie and boring as shit' he thought.
30 minutes later
Sasuke and Mamushi were looking at the movie on the screen.
"Azul how could you betray the glitter force like that; we were your family" a Yellow magical girl said to her blue comrade standing on the other side of a river.
"I have no choice Amarillo" Azul said "Oro killed my father; all these years with the glitter force has been holding me back, I will have my revenge against Oro no matter the cost" she said. The yellow magical girl clenched her fist and then took out a magical wand and spoke.
"I will bring you back to the glitter kingdom Azul" the yellow magical girl said "even if I have to break every bone in your body" she shouted. "Yellow glitter stream" she shouted as she shot a beam of yellow light at her comrade.
Mamushi was looking at the movie in awe as she was nearly bouncing in her seat "oh my god she busted out the magical wand of friendship; that hasn't been seen since season 2" she said.
'Holy shit this movie is actually pretty good' Sasuke said surprised 'I really connect with that Azul character; but I don't think I'd ever betray someone for power' he thought.
Naruto and Ino were sitting a few rows back; Ino was looking at the movie surprised 'holy crap this movie is a lot better than I thought; I always thought it was a kids manga but definitely a lot more mature than I thought' she thought. Ino then felt Naruto grab her hand 'huh what does Naruto- 'she began until she looked at Naruto.
Naruto had stars in his eyes as he looked at the movie "oh man how have I not seen this series before; I gotta ask Mamushi if I can read her series she has back home" he said quietly. Ino looking at him and began to giggle.
'Oh my god he's such a goof' Ino thought as she leaned her head on Naruto's shoulder.
45 Minutes later Konoha park
"Oh man that was totally worth the wait" Mamushi said drinking out of her souvenir cup "I can't wait until the next movie comes out; there's a time skip" she said looking over to Sasuke.
"I'm not going to lie I wasn't expecting I was going to like the movie" Sasuke said "but I have to say it was pretty good; I'm not into manga or anime but I enjoyed it" he said as he genuinely liked the movie.
"Yeah, we can go see the next one when it come out one day" Mamushi said as they continued walking through the park; Mamushi felt a little sting on the side of her head but ignored it. Both Mamushi and Sasuke stopped and sat down on a park bench "I had a lot of fun Sasuke" Mamushi said blushing slightly.
"Y-Yeah I had a lot of fun too" Sasuke said bashfully and looking down "listen Mamushi" Sasuke said gaining her full attention. "I… I like you ok" Sasuke said "you're nice, pretty, fun and always look for the good in life; and well… I was wondering if you wanted… to be my girlfriend" he said. Sasuke waited for a response but didn't hear one "Mamushi" he said looking over to her; Mamushi was staring off into space and Sasuke tapped her shoulder "hey Mamushi are you ok" he said touching her.
The next moment Mamushi fell over and began to shake violently "Mamushi" Sasuke shouted as he laid her flat on the bench as she continued to shake; just then Naruto and Ino came out of hiding and ran up "what the hell what are you 2 doing here" Sasuke shouted.
"Doesn't matter; what's happening" Naruto shouted in a panic.
"I don't know she won't stop shaking" Sasuke said and Ino went over and looked at Mamushi.
"I think she's having a seizure" Ino said worried "Naruto grab her and take her to the hospital you run the fastest" she said and Naruto nodded; Naruto picked up Mamushi and began to rush towards the hospital. "Sasuke goes and get Kakashi sensei and Anko; I'll go and get my daddy" Ino said and Sasuke nodded.
Sasuke began to run off to find Kakashi and Anko 'damn it what happened; she was just fine a minute ago' Sasuke thought as he ran towards Kakashi's apartment.
Konoha Hospital: 3 days later
Naruto, Sasuke, Ino, Anko, and Kakashi were all in the waiting room waiting in silence for news of Mamushi who's been in the ICU for 3 days.
'Damn it; when are they going to say something' Naruto thought; just then the doors to the ICU opened up and Tsunade, Jiraya, Inoichi and Hiruzen walked out. "Well, what is it" Naruto said impatiently.
Tsunade looked over to Hiruzen who nodded 'damn it sensei; making me lie like this' she thought as she opened up the file "Mamushi has suffered a seizure and is currently in critical condition" Tsunade said making them all look at her in worry. "Unknown to us Mamushi had a brain tumor which triggered the seizure" Tsunade said shocking them all "this explains why she's been suffering from headaches over the past month" she said and Naruto stepped forward.
"Ok well can you remove it" Naruto asked and Tsunade nodded.
"Yes, we can but it comes with a risk" Tsunade said "the operation has only a 20 percent success rate; if we were to do it right now, we could kill her" she said making Naruto and Sasuke feel a wave of dread. "I'm going to do more research on the tumor so I can increase her chance of survival; but the best thing for you all is to go home and keep her in your prayers" she said.
Everyone began to walk out until Sasuke stopped and turned around "please save her" he said with sorrow in his voice "I don't want to lose her too" he said and Tsunade nodded.
"I'll try" Tsunade said.
Ino grabbed Sasuke by the hand and began to walk him out with Naruto reassuring Sasuke everything will be fine.
"Thank you, Tsunade," Hiruzen said "I know- "he began but Tsunade turned and looked at him with a look of anger and betrayal.
"Fuck you, Sensei; I just lied to them for you" Tsunade said "they have a right to know what we found" she said and Hiruzen looked down.
"I know and I'm sorry" Hiruzen said "but until we are sure we cannot operate; who knows what this thing is and what'll happen if we remove it" Hiruzen said.
"The fuinjutsu on it is pretty intricate sensei" Jiraya said "I'll need to head to Uzu to see what I can find to break it; and then see if I could break it" he said and Hiruzen nodded.
"Tsunade, Jiraya; we have no time to lose on this" Hiruzen said "get started and get ready in 2 weeks I want a answer and a solution" he said and both walked off. "Inoichi was it a success" Hiruzen said and Inoichi nodded.
"Yes, sir I've downloaded her or it's memory" Inoichi said holding up a blue vial "I should be able to go through the memories and tell you what I see" he said and Hiruzen nodded.
"Good get started and tell me what we're dealing with" Hiruzen said as Inoichi walked off 'damn it Orochimaru; I should've known you'd have a fail-safe' he thought.
Later that night: Uchiha compound
Sasuke was laying down on his roof looking up at the night sky as he wondered about Mamushi 'damn it; I feel so useless' Sasuke thought; Sasuke sat up and reached into his pocket and pulled out a picture. The picture was of Sasuke and Mamushi at the movies the day of her seizure; they took a picture in front of the poster of the movie as to remember their first date 'Mamushi; please recover, I don't want to lose you' he thought as he looked at the picture.
Sasuke was so lost in his thoughts that he almost didn't hear the sound of feet landing behind him; Sasuke jumped up and pulled out a kunai "who the hell are you" Sasuke shouted.
Sakon, Ukon, Kidomaru, Jirobo and Kimmimaru were all standing there looking down at Sasuke.
"Lord Orochimaru has sent us to fetch you" Kimmimaru said dully "Please come with us and do not resist" he said and Sasuke scoffed as he got into his taijutsu stance.
"Fuck you" Sasuke said and Kimmimaru sighed; Kimmimaru proceeded to take out a bone sword out of his shoulder to Sasuke's disgust and got into a stance himself.
"So be it" Kimmimaru said.
Konoha hospital: Mamushi's room
Mamushi was unconscious as the machines in her room continued to beep and buzz; out of the darkness Kabuto walked out with a sealing tag in his hand. Kabuto walked forward and placed it on Mamushi's chest; it glowed for a moment and stopped.
Kabuto began to unhook Mamushi from her machines and picked her up bridal style 'that seal should keep you stable' he thought with a smirk 'Lord Orochimaru is going to be pleased; he'll get his vessel and his weapon back' he thought as he vanished in a swirl of leaves.
