Chapter 1: The Dance Begins:
Odette's POV:
A long time ago, in the Oslarawen Kingdom, a baby girl was born. Grand Duchess Odette. Yes, that was me. My father was the Tsar. My mother died during childbirth. One day, my father made a deal with Iolanta, the Tsarina of the Breston Kingdom, to one day have me marry Grand Prince Siegfried. Yeah, that's something you should discuss so early. Anyway, that's not the biggest problem. The Sky Demon, Hsi Wu, tried to take over the kingdom, but my father's forces fought against him. Siegfried's father tried to help in the fight, but it cost him his own life.
"I'm not finished with you yet, Grigori. Someday I will return. And when I do, everything you own, everything you love, will be mine," says Hsi Wu as he flies away.
. . .
Years later, our parents tried to introduce us as kids.
Siegfried: I can't believe I'm stuck with her all summer
I bet she doesn't wrestle, hunt or box
Odette: He looks conceited
Siegfried: What a total bummer
Siegfried/Odette: If I get lucky, I'll get chicken pox
Siegfried: So happy you could come
Odette: So happy to be here
Siegfried/Odette: How I'd like to run
Odette: This is not my idea
Siegfried: This is not my idea
Siegfried/Odette: Of fun
Tsarina Iolanta: The children seem to get along quite nicely
Tsar Grigori: We'll join our lands if this arrangement clicks
Tsarina Iolante: My dear Tsar Grigori, that's my point precisely
Tsar Grigori: It's such good parenting
Tsarina Iolante: And politics
So happy we agree
Tsar Grigori: I think we've got a deal
Tsarina Iolante: Siegfried's quite a catch
Tsar Grigori: This is my idea
Tsarina Iolante: This is my idea
Tsar Grigori/Tsarina Iolante: Of a match
Tsar Grigori: Good heavens, child, don't dawdle!
We can't keep Siegfried waiting!
Odette: I haven't packed or washed my hair
And father, I get seasick
Tsarina Iolante: They soon will be arriving
Is that respect you're showing?
Siegfried: You make me kiss her hand again
I swear I'm gonna be sick
Tsar Grigori: One day Grand Prince Siegfried will be her intended.
Tsarina Iolante: Splendid!
Siegfried: We've tried all summer, but we just can't lose her
Odette: Hey, fellas, wait up!
Bromley: Quick, put on some speed!
Siegfried: When picking teams
Bromley: Or friends
Siegfried: I never choose her
Bromley: You think she'd take a hint and learn to read
Odette: This really isn't fair
Siegfried/Bromley: We really couldn't care
Odette: Boys, it's all or none
This is not my idea
Siegfried/Bromley: This isn't my idea
Siegfried/Bromley/Odette: Of fun
Townfolke: Long before they met
Siegfried and Odette
Were destined to be wedded
Maids: However, anyone could see
Servants: The only point on which they didn't disagree
Maids: Was that the very thought of summertime
Maids/Servants: Was dreaded
Siegfried: She tries to talk me into playing dress-up
She's always flirting with the castle guards
Bromley: I think you really sort of like her, 'fess up
Siegfried: I'd like her better if she'd lose at cards
Four sevens and a ten
Odette: I think I've won again
Siegfried/Bromley: Every time she's won
Odette: This is my idea
Siegfried/Bromley: This isn't my idea
Siegfried/Bromley/Odette: Of fun
Townsfolk: We need a royal wedding
I'd love to be invited
At least we'll get a holiday to rest our ploughs and axes
Someday these two will marry
Two lands will be united
And with some luck their marriage may result in lower taxes
Tsar Grigori: What if Odette doesn't go for the merger?
Tsarina Iolante: Urge her!
Siegfried/Odette: For as long as I remember
We've been told we'd someday wed
Every June until September
Siegfried: All their pushing and annoying hints
Odette: I've got bruises with their fingerprints
Siegfried: I can do much better, I am sure
Odette: He's so immature
I see him smiling and my knees start buckling
I see inside him, and my doubts are gone
Siegfried: She started out as such an ugly duckling
And somehow suddenly became a swan
Odette: So happy to be here
Siegfried: Till now I never knew
Siegfried/Odette: It is you I've been dreaming of
Siegfried: This is my idea
Odette: This is my idea
Tsar Grigori/Tsarina Iolanta: What a good idea, it's such a charming and romantic notion
Maids: This is my idea
Servants: This is my idea
Maids: Such a good idea
Servants: Such a good idea
Maids: What a good idea
Chorus: Such a powerful and magic notion
This is exactly my idea of love
Odette: This is my idea
Siegfried: This is my idea
Siegfried/Odette: This is my idea of love!
"Let the wedding begin," says Siegfried.
I was starting to have second thoughts. "Don't you think we're rushing into things," I said.
"What do you mean," asks Siegfried, "you're all I ever wanted. You're beautiful!"
"And what else," I asked, "is beauty all that matters?"
"Siegfried, what else?" ask Tsarina Iolanta.
Siegfried was having trouble trying to figure out the right question. "What else is there?"
To Be Continued
Siegfried and Odette are the ancestors of the Lebedev Family (Ben Tennyson's Maternal Side of the Family). The Princess of Swan Lake takes place in the Ancient Past of both the Ultimate Ben 10verse and later the Ultimate Advanceverse. The Princess of Swan Lake took place during The Little Mermaid. In the next chapter, Hsi Wu makes his move.
