Thump. Thump.

My senses are heightened. I feel my heart jumping into my throat as it pumps adrenaline through my veins. Excitement takes precedence over fear.

My vision is clouded by a familiar, thick purple fog, obscuring the ochre rocks forming the underground cavern around us.

My ears are deafened by a cacophony of echolocating screeches and reptilian hisses.

My right hand tightens around the reassuring hilt of my sword, while my left reaches into my pack habitually. I place a life elixir capsule between my teeth, my jaw slacked and ready to bite down at any moment.

I turn to you.

"Remember their attack pattern. Ready?"

Your blue eyes narrow in focus and dance with ferocity, and you grin at me, baring your teeth.

"Don't underestimate me. Ready as ever."

A blur of green suddenly emerges in front of us, and a split second later a vicious set of venomous fangs follow. However, our swords flash out simultaneously without missing a beat. The winged serpent drops to the floor, lifeless, but countless shadows begin to darken the fog in front of us…

My name is Ash, but most just call me "Farmer" now. I had slaved away at Joja Corp, a massive company the definition of late-stage capitalism, for about two years since graduating college. One day, I just snapped, walked out of my job, and uprooted my almost non-existent life. I moved to a small town in Stardew Valley, where my grandfather left me a small plot of land that valuators told me was worth "less than the petrol you'll spend driving there".

You see, my grandfather was a farmer at Stardew Valley, and his message to me on his deathbed was very poetic: "There will come a day when you feel crushed by the burden of modern life, and your bright spirit will fade before a growing emptiness". I guess he intended for the farming lifestyle to fill this growing emptiness. Well, I took the plunge, but perhaps not exactly in the way that my grandfather intended. Don't get me wrong, I love gramps to bits, but he simply did not know me well enough since he passed when I was so young.

No, farming did not reignite my "bright spirit"; rather, it was fierce combat. Stardew Valley, as it turned out, was teeming with magic and monsters, and I finally felt at home in its deadly dungeons, discovering all its secrets. The scariest thing in Stardew Valley may not be a monster though... My opinion? It is Abigail, a local girl in her early twenties, wielding her sword with passion that surpassed my own. I am just glad that she points that sword at our enemies and not me.

Here begins our story of adventure: the story of the ones destined to unlock the mysteries behind the magic of Stardew Valley.
