Prologue

In the night on the outskirts of New York City, a SWAT van passes by driving up the road to an unknown destination. Inside the van were agents wearing suits and none of them were saying a word. Then their commanding leader, given the codename 'Spider' sat up straight with a serious look on his face. "Listen up! We're going after Baxter Stockman," He then showed them a picture of the fugitive, "He was TCRI's head scientist, but then he went rogue, stole billions of dollars worth of research including one of our successful experiments Subject 8917, and created an actual mutant. He's holed up in a makeshift lab of an abandoned building. Each of you has been issued a high power antimutant neutralizer." He then showed them the weapon in his hands, "Whatever Stockman's made, this can unmake it. Cynthia Utrom herself will be quartering herself from HQ. Anything to add Cynthia?"

He then turned to the glowing screen next to him, showing the silhouette of the female scientist framed in the shadows for the men to listen to.

"This mission is of the utmost importance. Failure will be frowned upon." Cynthia spoke ominously, making the soldiers look at each other in confusion and concern. "Bring me Stockman's creation, and whatever he used to make it."

"You heard her boys, lock and load." Spider stated as he pumped his neutralizer.

"Yes sir!" All the men replied and did the same thing with their guns as well. "Oh, and Spider? Make sure not to harm 8917, bring it back to me unharmed." Cynthia reminded him.

"Don't worry Cynthia, will retrieve 8917 in one piece." Spider nodded his head.

The sound of the ceiling light flickered from within the basement of the building. Baxter Stockman, the mutant-obsessed scientist was preparing his new experiment as he grabbed many chemicals from off a high shelf, all of them clinking together. Red, hexagonal eyes were looking at him in amazement. Stockman dropped, poured, mixed, and sent some purple stuff through a swirling tube turning the vial a neon green color.

"I've done it, little one. I perfected the ooze. Are you excited for daddy?" Stockman asked a small mutated fly in his crib. The little fly chitters in response to his creator's voice.

"My friends at TCRI want to you as a weapon, I couldn't allow that...But, we're safe now. Soon-I'll make you brothers and sisters." He looked at test tubes with different animals in the process. "A real family for both of us."

But then a small cooing noise caught Baxter's attention as he turned around to see a little baby lizard peeking her head up from her crib right next to the fly's crib. She had a bit of red hair on top of her head and innocent blue eyes, Baxter then walked over and stroked the lizard's cheek, "And as for you my little friend, you do not need to worry anymore. You are no longer a test subject to my former friends. You are a part of our family now." Baxter smiled softly before getting up.

"I never had a family, little ones. Nobody liked me. I always felt a greater connection to the animals I experimented on than people. So with you and your siblings..." He looked towards his son and new daughter and then the plans he had for the other mutants, sounding excited at the thought of a real family. "I'm creating a family. I think we can finally be happy." He smiled to himself.

Everything seemed peaceful until it was interrupted by the sounds of banging and crashing. Knowing the agents had found him, Baxter turned to the lizard quickly picked her up, and set her on the ground. "Hurry, hide little one!" The lizard looked up at him confused but when there was another banging sound she shrieked in fear and quickly ran to hide. Baxter then quickly grabbed an empty box shoving various items he needed to leave. But then the agents come bursting in through the door. The agents then surround the scientist as he drops the box he had in his hands.

"Don't move!" Spider commanded, he and his men's neutralizer lights shined in Stockman's face.

"Where is the specimen?" Spider demanded as held his fugitive by the collar.

"I-I-I-uh-!" Baxter stammered when everyone heard glass tinkling as they looked to find the fly baby's empty crib. More movement could be heard as they shined their lights on a rolling can.

"Wait, wait, be careful." Baxter pleaded with them not to hurt his son.

"Stay quiet." Spider covered his mouth. As the agents were looking around their surroundings, the baby lizard who was hiding under a shelf was shivering in fear with her pupils straight, not wanting to get caught and taken away. But then out of the blue, the baby fly started attacking the soldiers, throwing them down, and hitting them. One of the soldiers tried shooting at the little fly as he zoomed by.

"Cease fire! We need them alive!" Spider ordered. The men started screaming as one of them was dangled by his feet and tossed away with ease.

"Don't move!" Spider threw down Stockman as he went to deal with the abomination. He pointed his neutralizer all over the room before the light shined on the baby lizard. She squeaked in fear and backed away as much as she could as Spider bent down to grab it. "There you are." He spoke with a deep voice as he was about to grab the baby mutant. The little fly sees what Spider is about to do and chitters in anger as he lands on the commander's face scratching it up in an attempt to save his sister. Spider screeched in pain, unleashing all his neutralizer ammo around the room. The baby fly landed on a barrel of chemicals.

"No! No, don't shoot! Stockman panicked as he got up to stop the hulking man, "The chemicals are highly volatile! No!"

But it was too late as Spider shot at the barrel of explosive chemicals, Baxter acted quickly as he grabbed his son shielding him as there was an explosion. The waves were powerful as they blew the little lizard back as she fell out of a window. The smoke cleared as Spider got up to his feet holding half of his face as he looked around at the now-destroyed basement with various items and papers scattered, and saw Baxter's body lying on the ground lifeless from the explosion.

"Cynthia, I'm sorry. We lost everything, including 8917." Cynthia was not pleased with the information given as shown on the camera feed as she replied to Spider.

"Bring me anything you can find."

But outside as the smoke settled, a box started shaking a little as a small head popped up revealing to be the little lizard, or Subject 8917. She had survived the explosion since she landed safely in a box. She shook her head a little dazed from the explosion as she climbed out of the box slowly. Then there was a tiny bit of blood on her face revealing a straight cut on her chin, confused, she touched it only to whimper in pain since it hurt. As she walked out of the alleyway, she could hear voices from the agents heading inside the building. It wasn't safe here anymore, she had to go somewhere else, and with that, the little lizard started to run the opposite direction towards the glowing towers of New York City, and this is where her journey begins...
