Abigail meets Shadow

*Abigail rode her horse into the forest until she came to the lake. She smiled when she saw Snowy & his friends on the water. Then they started heading off towards the river that connects to the lake. She steered her horse after them as they swam up river. Soon, the path ended, as the swans made a turn. Determined, she started going up a steep mountain path. It was difficult, but they soon made it to the top. Down below, Abigail could see the swans, still swimming upstream. She steered her horse down a narrow mountain path. At one point, they had to jump over an opening in the path. Her horse soon started to get scared as the path crumbled a bit under his hoofs*

Abigail: Come on, boy. There's nothing to be afraid of. *eventually, they came to a cave at the end of the path. The swans swam past it* How far are they going to go? *she steered her horse into the cave, but they were attacked by a swarm of bats, which really scared her horse* Steady, boy! Steady! *she made her horse run through the cave* Whoa! *when she got to the end of the cave, she looked around at the scene in front of her & saw it was full of thorns* What a terrible place. Why would Snowy and his friends want to come here?

*She pulled out her dagger & started slashing the thorns as they rode past them. She could still see Snowy & his friends swimming past them. Soon, Abigail & her horse came to the end of the path. Her eyes went wide when she saw a tall dark castle on a ledge over the lake (look up "Gothic Castle 3" by "auctionpiccker" on "DeviantArt"). She got off her horse & went for a closer look. The swans stopped at a small cove with a flight of stone stairs on the shore. Suddenly, as the sun disappeared over the horizon, one-by-one, each of the swans transformed as they stepped out of the water. The first swan turned into a black male armadillo with a red shell, blue eyes, tan skin, & wearing a blue tunic over a yellow long sleeved shirt, a brown string belt, yellow tights, & brown boots (look up "The Princess and the Squire" by "anla" on "DeviantArt*). The second one turned into a cobalt blue male hedgehog with green eyes, peach skin, & wearing a green tunic & brown boots (look up "Squire" by "aamakuruu" on "DeviantArt"). The third & final one turned into a white male hedgehog with gold eyes, peach skin, a tuft of white fur on his chest, & wearing a blue tunic over a gray long sleeved shirt, dark gray tights, & black shoes (look up "Squire 112217" by "PaulGQ" on "DeviantArt"). They all got got on shore & got down one knee as Snowy approached them. Then he turned into a black male hedgehog with red stripes, red eyes, tan skin, a tuft of white fur on his chest, & wearing a white shirt with black cuffs over a black, red, & yellow vest, white gloves, & white, red, yellow, & black shoes (look up "Prince Shadow-Cosium Outfits (Causal)" by "LiyuConberma" on "DeviantArt"). Abigail felt her cheeks heart up & her heart skip a beat when she saw his face. Then he started to walk towards the stairs. The armadillo stopped him*

Mighty: Shadow, must you go there again?

Shadow: You know as well as I do that I have no choice, Mighty. If I don't, there's no telling what she'll do it you three. *he started going up the stairs. Abigail decided to follow him. she stayed close behind him as they climbed the stairs. soon, they came to the top of the stairs, which led to an entrance into the castle. the hedgehog, called Shadow, started to step into the castle. Abigail started to follow him further, but suddenly, she stepped on a twig & it broke, stopping Shadow in his tracks. he turned around* Who's there? *seeing no point in hiding, Abigail stepped out. his eyes went wide when he saw her* Princess Abigail? What are you doing here?

Abigail: Huh? How do you know my name?

Shadow: You should know who I am. We've known each other for two years now.

*Abigail thought for a moment. Then it clicked*

Abigail: Snowy!?

Shadow: You may know me by that name. But my real name is Shadow.

Abigail: Okay . . . Shadow. But that doesn't explain what made you turn into a hedgehog. Or which is your real form.

*His face turned grim*

Shadow: This is my true form. An evil witch put me, and my most loyal servants, under a magic spell that turned us into swans.

Abigail: And evil witch?

Shadow: Yes. We can only turn back into our true forms when the sun goes down.

Abigail: Then the spell that turned Bartleby into a statue . . .?

Shadow: Yes. That was Breezie's doing.

Abigail: Breezie?

Shadow: Did you see that strange owl in the forest by the lake?

Abigail: Yes. I did see an owl.

Shadow: That was Breezie in one of her many disguises.

Abigail: That was her?

Shadow: You should leave now, Abigail. If I know Breezie, she's probably listening to every word we say.

*Abigail gasped & stepped back a bit*

Abigail: So this place is Breezie's castle!?

Shadow: Yes.

*Abigail grew determined & pulled out her dagger*

Abigail: I'll show that witch!

*She started to head into the castle, but Shadow stopped her*

Shadow: Do you honestly think your little dagger could hurt Breezie?

Abigail: I'll never know until I try! I'm not afraid!

Shadow: You should be. Because my Father's army tried to fight against her, but she destroyed my entire country.

Abigail: She . . . Destroyed it?

Shadow: I was once the Prince of a beautiful land far across the sea. Two years ago, Breezie came and demanded that I marry her. But I refused. She kept asking. And when I kept saying no, she threatened to destroy my country and everyone in it. We tried to fight her, but it was useless. She destroyed my land. Then kidnapped me and brought me here. The only survivors of the destruction were my three squires, and best friends. Sonic, Mighty, and Silver. They tried to save me, but were caught by Breezie. Now all four of us share the same fate.

Abigail: But why does this Breezie make you turn into swans every morning?

Shadow: Because she never wants me to meet another woman for the rest of my life.

Abigail: Why not?

*Shadow paused for a minute*

Shadow: That's not important right now. The point is, Breezie cast this spell on me to prove that I am under her power. And that there is no way for me to escape. Especially, with his medallion on. It prevents me from ever leaving the lake during the day.

Abigail: That's terrible. *suddenly, they heard bells in the distance* Oh no! The evening church bells! Father will be furious if he finds me not in my room! I have to go! *she ran back to her horse, got on, & started to ride away* I'll come back tomorrow night! Goodbye!

*Shadow stood at the entrance as he watched her ride away*

Shadow:*in his mind* You absolute fool. *a tear started to form in his eyes* But . . . You're still the fool I fell in love with.

*He wiped away his tear as he continued up the steps & into the castle*

*Inside the castle, in a dark bedroom (look up "Witch Bedroom night" by "danght2209" on "DeviantArt"), an aqua green female hedgehog with indigo tips on the ends of her quills, peach skin, & wearing a purple nightgown (look up "Rosalina - Elsa (Purple Nightgown)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt") was sleeping in the bed. Just then a raven (look up "Raven or Crow or some other kind of black bird" by "GreenBearArthurArt" on "DeviantArt") flew into the room & turned into a green male hedgehog with blue eyes, peach skin, wearing a black jacket that exposed the scars on his chest, black fingerless gloves, & black boots (look up "pirate Captain Scourge" by "4sonicfan" on "DeviantArt"). He looked at the sleeping female hedgehog & clicked his tongue*

Scourge: Tch! All she ever wants to do is sleep. Wakey-wakey, Mom! It's dark outside! *the female hedgehog woke up, revealing her purple eyes, sat up, & yawned* Yeesh! You look worse than usual, Mom. *he sat down in one of the chairs* What's eating you?

Breezie: Every single time I turn someone into a statue, it always takes it out of me. Especially in broad daylight.

*She got out of bed, snapped her fingers, & her nightgown changed into a black dress & long black gloves (look up "Rosalina - Princess Pluto" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt"). Then she went over to her vanity to put on makeup*

Scourge: I still don't know what you see in that boring Shadow.

Breezie: Of course you wouldn't. *she finished & stood up* Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm going to propose again. I'm feeling lucky tonight.

*Scourge rolled his eyes as she sashayed out of the room*

*Shadow stepped into a black ballroom (look up "Goth Ballroom" by "AnjuMaakaVampire" on "DeviantArt"). Suddenly, the ballroom became gold (look up "Grand Ballroom" by "lighthousesociety" on "DeviantArt"). Mobians, dressed in fancy clothes, appeared. Dancing around him in a waltz. Soon, they all stopped & bowed to a certain hedgehog as she stepped into the room. It was Breezie. Shadow glared at her*

Breezie: Ah, Shadow. How nice of you to join me this evening.

Shadow: Did I have a choice?

Breezie: Of course not. What do you think? Does this not remind you of your home, so long ago? *Shadow didn't say anything & kept his glare* Oh, come now. Don't scowl. You'll ruin that handsome face. Now then, *she held out a hand to his* why don't we dance and forget all this negativity.

*Shadow just stared at her hand & backed away*

Shadow: Breezie. I wouldn't dance with you, or marry you, even if you were the last woman on earth!

Breezie: Oh, don't worry. I promise I won't step on your feet. Especially during our wedding dance.

Shadow: Breezie, for the 10,000th time, my answer is no!

*Her face twisted into a scowl. Then it turned into a smirk*

Breezie: Well then, how about this?

*She snapped her fingers & the ball turned into a wedding. She was now wearing a wedding dress (look up "Peach - Minako (Wedding Dress #2)" by "Katlime" on "DeviantArt") & Shadow was wearing a red sash over a white, yellow, & black royal uniform (look up "Prince Shadow-Cosium Outfits (Formal)" by "LiyuConberma" on "DeviantArt"). A priest was standing in front of them, behind an alter with an open bible on it. On his right there was a gray male hedgehog with red eyes, peach skin, & wearing a gold crown & a red royal uniform & a blonde female hedgehog with blue eyes peach skin, wearing a gold tiara & a blue dress (look up "Sleeping Beauty! Strix (blue)" by "HeroProject39" on "DeviantArt"), smiling & clapping for this joyous moment. Shadow's eyes went wide as he immediately recognized his late parents. He turned to Breezie with a furious glare*

Shadow: How dare you -

Breezie: Don't you think your darling parents would want you to be happy? If you marry be, then I'll rebuild your Kingdom, where we'll rule together as King and Queen.

*He looked at his parents & saw them nodding at each other & then smiling at him. Suddenly, a diamond ring appeared in his hand. He paused for a moment to think, but then he thought of Abigail, shook his head, & threw the ring away*

Shadow: Breezie, it doesn't matter what you do or say, I'll never marry you!

*Breezie's face also turned into a furious. Then everything around them started to crack. Then it all disappeared & the ballroom was back to it's original form*

Breezie: This isn't over, Prince Shadow. Sooner or later, you will be mine.

*Shadow just turned away from her. She growled, turned, & stomped out of the ballroom. Shadow just stood in the middle of the room & looked out at the moon from a window*
