V: vegetarian, vocabulary,

Jack comes flying into the Warren, already talking.

"Okay so, I was sitting on my lake thinking about making new snowflakes…"

"Oh. What's your technique for making snowflakes?" asked Bunny from his perch next to the dye river, paintbrush in hand.

"Technique? Jack asked, tilting his head to the side as he came to a stop in front of Bunny, smoothly sliding into a criss cross position.

"Yeah. Technique."

"I don't know what that word means. I've never heard it before."

"Oh. It's a way something is done. For example, the way I blend colors on my eggs is a technique. I do it one way, but others might do it differently." Bunny answers, holding up some paint that he blended.

"Okay. I don't really have one. I just think about the snowflake I want in my head, then I use my magic to make it real." Jack answers, frost spreading out from underneath him.

"Thanks Jack. So anyway, on with your story."

"Oh yeah! So I was thinking of new snowflakes when…." Jack continues, and Bunny listens as Jack rambles on about snowflakes.

Jack is sitting in the library next to the window, drawing designs in the frost. North comes in, gently knocking on the door to alert Jack to his presence.

"Hey Jack. I have a request." North said.

"What's a request?" Jack asks, turning to look at North.

"It's when someone asks someone else to do something for them."

"Okay, what's your request?"

"Can you make me a big block of ice to carve?"

"Of course." Jack turns to a table and uses his magic and seconds later, there is a block of ice where it used to be empty "Here you go."

"Thanks Jack!" North takes his block of ice and exits the room as Jack returns to his window, continuing to draw in the frost.

Tooth sees Jack flying into the tooth palace and greets him.

"Hey Jack. It's nice to see you. Let's have a chat. Let me just find someone to take over for me for a little bit."

"Okay. No problem." Jack answers as he stops and hovers in front of Tooth. Tooth flies away for a moment but quickly returns.

"Baby Tooth volunteered to cover so let's have a chat." Tooth says as she leads him over to the pond present at her palace.

Jack follows, asking, "What does volunteered mean?"

"It means she offered to help with nothing expected of her."
"Okay. So, you'd never guess what I did to Bunny the other day…" Jack begins, and Tooth listens attentively while Baby Tooth covers her duties.

Jack and Sandy are high above the ground, hanging out on Sandy's dream clouds.

"Drink, water, cup, um…, glass? I don't know Sandy. What was the word?"

Written in sand above Sandy's head was the word, "Beverage."

"I've never heard that word before. What does it mean?" Jack asks.

Sandy showed a variety of pictures that featured some form of drinks.

"So, it is just another word for a drink?"

Sandy nodded.

"That's weird. Your turn to guess."

Bunny, North, Tooth, and Sandy are hanging out in the North Pole, although the term hanging out is used loosely.

"Have any of you noticed how often Jack asks about what some words mean?" Bunny asked.

"I have.," Tooth responded. Sandy nodded and North added, "And they seem like words that he should know."
"Yeah. It's odd." Bunny responded.

"Is there anything we should do about it?" Tooth asked.

Sandy shrugged.

"I suppose we can just keep doing what we have been doing. It's worked so far." Bunny suggested.
"Yeah. We can throw in words in our conversations that we think he may not know." North added.

"I like that idea. We can build his vocabulary without him ever knowing it."
"Without who knowing what?" Jack asked as he climbed through the window.

"No one that you know. It is good you are here now Jack. Now we can go eat!" North said as Tooth and Bunny walked ahead of them having their own conversation.

"What are we having?"

"Ham, some turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cookies of course, and a few other things too."
"Okay. I'll eat most of it but not the meat. I don't eat meat."
"I didn't know you were vegetarian Jack. I'll keep that in mind."

"What's a vegetarian?"

"A person who does not eat meat. There are also vegans who don't eat anything that comes from animals which includes milk and eggs."

"Okay. Then, yeah. I am definitely a vegetarian." Jack says as they walk or in Jack's case fly to the dining room, ready to eat what is sure to be a feast that the yetis have prepared.
