W: Wind

It was an average day for the wind. They flew around bringing a cool breeze to the people in the new world. Of course, it wasn't new to them. They were ancient. They have existed since the beginning of time and will till the end. The wind is infinite. But, the wind was doing their job, when they felt something was off.

They flew towards where the disturbance was and they found a lake. The lake was shining brightly. There appeared to be a moonbeam directed on the center of it. The wind watched, and saw the ice crack, and a boy float out of the lake.

Wind knew this had to be the Man in Moon's doing. Wind did not know the Man in the Moon, but they knew of him. They encountered his creations and his influence but did not have any opinions. WInd never did. They were impartial. But the wind watched the boy as he took deep heaving breaths to get his air back, and then landed on the frozen lake where the hole used to be.

Wind watched as he stumbled on the crook, and saw it startle him. Wind thought he might leave it be, but was surprised to see his curiosity, and then excitement as he discovered his new powers. The boy skated around the lake, leaving a frost trail behind him. The boy's excitement caused Wind to be excited as well, and Wind picked the boy up and threw him into the sky. The boy was startled, but he quickly became amazed.

Wind was not used to carrying people, and accidentally dropped the boy. He fell and hit the trees but stopped himself before falling all the way to the ground. Wind went back to watching the boy from a distance and saw that he was looking at the village. Wind knew he wanted to go to the village based on the longing look on his face, and decided to take him there.

The ride was clumsy, for both wind and the boy, but wind managed to not drop him until they were very close to the ground, and saw the boy stumble and nearly fall upon the impromptu landing.. The boy moved further into the village and began greeting people and tried to gain information, but the boy was ignored. Then a child ran through him. Wind could see the shock and hurt on the boy's face and almost felt sorry for him. Wind almost felt sorry because Wind couldn't feel emotion, or so they thought at the time. They would learn that this was wrong.

Wind watched as more people went through the boy and watched as he walked dejectedly back to his lake, without the wind to help, because the wind had other places to be now. But Wind would come back. They found themself unable to stop watching the boy, and eventually, just stayed with the boy, and became his constant companion.

It's been a long time since Wind has met Jack Frost. Or, at least it has in human years. For Wind, it felt like no time at all.

Today, Jack was in the town that he first came to all those years ago. Of course, it has grown a lot since that time, but it still felt like home to Jack.

Jack was slowly wandering around the town when he began to see the golden glow of the Sandman arriving. Jack touched it and watched as the sand created shapes based off of his positive memories. Jack smiled and followed the golden sand creatures for a bit. He stopped on top of the roof of someone's house. He knew there were kids here so he found a window, hooked his legs on the branch of a tree near it, and hung upside down, looking into the window. He saw a parent and a child, getting the child ready for bed. Then the window frosted over and Jack couldn't see in anymore. He frowned and flew back into the town area and began walking.

Wind watched as he walked down the street. Wind thought it was unusual that he would walk instead of fly so they blew past him, his hair ruffling as they went by. Jack smiled at this but then noticed something in the shadows. Wind watched, knowing who Jack was following, and was intrigued as to why they would be here now with it being so close to their holiday. Then, Jack was talking to Bunny, and before Wind knew it, Jack was grabbed and thrown into a sack which was thrown into a portal. The yetis left through the same portal and Bunny used his tunnels. Now Wind was alone.

Wind quickly flew to where they could sense Jack and was soon close to him. Wind found an open window and entered the building. Wind tried not to disturb anything as they flew towards Jack. They soon found him and made a gentle circle around so he would know Wind was there. Upon feeling the breeze, Jack stood up a little straighter and confronted North and the others about becoming a guardian.

Wind was flying Jack back to Burgess so he could put the little girl to bed. Wind watched as he flew into the house and placed the girl on her bed only for her to promptly roll off. He then threw a blanket over and tossed her stuffed animal next to her and he went to the window where Wind picked him back up. They began flying back to the Warren when they heard Jack hear his name being called.

Wind directed him towards it and they found Pitch's lair with all of the tooth fairies. He also found all of the tooth boxes and began frantically searching through them, looking for the source of the voice. Then, Pitch appeared. Jack followed him and Pitch talked and they had a conversation when Pitch offered Jack a tooth box with a picture of a boy that looked identical to Jack in all but color of hair and skin.

Pitch flew away and Wind helped Jack follow him. Eventually, Pitch stopped taunting him, but not till after he threw the tooth box towards Jack and left him in Bunny's tunnels which were full of broken eggs. Wind watched as the winter spirit stared at the egg shells with dejection on his face.

Wind was moving rapidly towards the ground as they tried to catch the falling spirit. Jack was without his staff making it nearly impossible for Wind to catch him. The boy was falling quickly and then hit the dumpster with a bang and the ground with a thud as he rolled with his staff landing beside him.

Wind blew gently around him, trying to wake him up which appeared to have worked. He quickly got back up and quickly went back to fighting Pitch.

Wind was holding Jack up in the air so he could fight Pitch when, suddenly, there was a burst of cold accompanied by bright blue light centered around Jack. As soon as the light was gone, Jack was falling.

Wind noticed he wasn't controlling his fall and tried to slow or stop him, but it was hard for Wind to stop Jack when he wasn't able to cooperate with Wind.

Luckily, North and his sleigh was nearby, and Tooth caught him, and placed him in the sleigh. He woke up once he was laying down on a solid surface and quickly resumed the fight with Pitch.

Wind blew furiously past Pitch in an attempt to knock him off balance and it appeared to work. Wind returned to Jack, and watched as North pulled out the big official guardian book.

Wind gently ruffled the pages in happiness. This meant Jack would have other friends and people who he could actually talk to. He had talked to Wind all the time, but Wind couldn't respond. Not the way they wanted to or the way Jack needed.

Wind watched as Jack took the oath and as he was hugged by the children. Wind felt happy, which they didn't know they could feel.

Night had fallen and Jack was laying in the middle of his frozen lake. He was speaking but there was no one around to be seen. But Wind was there. And they heard everything.

Wind knew the words were meant for them, and they continually circled around and past Jack so he knew they were listening. Jack smiled, knowing Wind was there. He may have other friends now, but Wind has always been there for him.
