Origins Chapter 4: Futaba x Yuuki

One chilly Thursday in early March at Shujin Academy, Yuuki Mishima and Ann Takamaki are seen walking down the halls to their next class. As they walk, they pass by a poster that's advertising the Academy's annual White Day Dance. They stop and take a quick look.

"The Big White Day Dance is coming up," Ann says to the blue haired individual.

"Yeah," Yuuki says, "I take it Ren will be coming from his hometown to take you?"

"Of course," Ann said happily, "He'll be coming down this weekend so we can pick out our outfits together. On top of that Sumire is bringing Ichiro, and Makoto and Haru are going to be lending a helping hand in chaperoning the event."

"Is Haru going to bring Yusuke?" Yuuki asked.

"You bet," Ann replied, "I just wish Makoto would hurry up and find someone. Not for nothing but I think she and Ryuji would make a great couple? Wouldn't you agree?"

"I suppose," Yuuki shrugged.

"But what about you?" Ann asked, "Are you thinking of asking someone?"

"You know what," Yuuki said after a moment of thinking, "I think this year might actually be the year I man up and look for something serious. I'm tired of always going 'stag' to these things and end up becoming a wallflower! I'm ready to grab life by the horns, Ann."

"That's great," Ann said with a smile, "So, who's the lucky girl? That Hana Chiba from Mr. Ushimaru's class is a cutie. Or what about Etsuko Nomura from Mr. Inui's class?"

"Actually, the person I was looking to ask out…is Futaba," Yuuki admitted.

Hearing that surprised Ann. Sure Yuuki had geeky tendencies like Futaba, but he never thought that someone like her orange haired friend would be right up his alley. 'Birds of a feather flock together, I guess,' Ann thought to herself.

"Really?" Ann asked quizzically, "Can I ask why? I mean, nothing against your choice in women, but I'm just curious."

"I don't know," Yuuki said, "There's something about her. I just want to get to know her a little bit more."

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you think she was a camgirl?" Ann asked, "And doesn't she view you as an 'NPC'?"

"Yeah, I know we didn't get off on the right foot," Yuuki said as he rubbed his arm in embarrassment, "But that doesn't mean we can't make things right. I'm confident that if we give each other a chance, it could be the start of a beautiful relationship."

"I can see you're dead set on asking Futaba out, Mishima," Ann said, "So, Ren and I will do everything we can to help you two."

"Great!" Yuuki cheered.

"First thing's first, though," Ann said, "You need to ask her out and go on a date with her tomorrow night. Think of it as a trial run of sorts."

"Okay," Yuuki nodded, "Do you know where she'll be after school?"

"Leblanc is the most likely option," Ann said.

"Alright," Yuuki said confidently, "After school, I'll go to Cafe Leblanc so I can ask Futaba out for our 'trial run' date. When do I ask her if she wants to go to the White Day Dance, though?"

"If this trial run is a success, I say you should ask her afterwards," Ann said.

"Great," Yuuki smiled as he and Ann continued to walk to their next class before they're classified as late.

After school, Yuuki left Shujin Academy and went straight for Cafe Leblanc. Sure enough, she found Futaba eating a small plate of curry while playing on her Funtendo 4DS. With a deep breath, Yuuki walked up and took a seat next to Futaba.

"Hey, Futaba," Yuuki greeted.

The gamer girl looked next to her to find the blue haired teen smiling at her, with a tinge of nervousness in his eyes.

"Hey," Futaba greeted back, "Mishima, right?"

"Yeah," Yuuki said, "Surprised you didn't call me 'Nishima'."

"I'm learning," Futaba smiled, "So, what's up?"

"Listen," Yuuki said as he nervously began to twiddle his thumbs, "I know we didn't get off to a rocking start when we first met. You know, me thinking you were a camgirl and you judging me by generic appearance and speech style."

"Yeah, sorry about that," Futaba said, remorsefully, "I was in the process of getting out of my shell at the time and I wasn't really good with people then."

"Have you gotten better?" Yuuki asked.

"I'd like to think so," Futaba responded, "But, I didn't mean to cut you off. Please continue."

"Well, I didn't know if you had anything planned for this Saturday," Yuuki said.

"I was probably going to hang out at home and game," Futaba said, "Why?"

"I just…wanted to know if…you know…if you want to go out for lunch with me?" Yuuki said.

"Are you asking me out on a date?" Futaba asked with a smirk.

"Of sorts," Yuuki said with a small blush coming to his cheeks, "I mean, you don't have to, I just thought I'd ask."

Futaba gave it some thought, and she remembered how her friends told her to keep breaking out of her comfort zone and try new things in order to live a happy and fulfilling life. Going out on this lunch date with Yuuki sounds like a good way to achieve such a life.

"Where are we going?" Futaba asked.

"Bikkuri Boy," Yuuki answered, "They make amazing Frui-Tea over there. And their Nostalgic Steaks are cooked to perfection."

"I know," Futaba said, "I've been there before."

"Oh, great!" Yuuki smiled, "So, do we have a date or…"

After thinking for a few more seconds, Futaba smiles and holds her hand out.

"It's a date," Futaba said.

"Really?!" Yuuki said excitedly as he graciously shook Futaba's hand, "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Alright, Mishima, settle down before I change my mind," Futaba said as Yuuki stopped shaking Futaba's hand.

"So, it's settled," Yuuki said, "I'll come pick you up at your place at noon. Then we can go to lunch."

"Sounds like a plan," Futaba said.

"See you then," Yuuki said as he waved goodbye and left Cafe Leblanc.

As Yuuki walked home, he had the biggest smile on his face and he was so happy that he took out his phone and blasted 'Happy' by Feral Williams (Pharrell Williams).

After school on Friday, Ren showed up at the front of Shujin Academy in time to see Yuuki, Ann, and Futaba leaving out the front door. Ann told him the previous night about Yuuki's plans to ask Futaba out to the White Day Dance and she told him to give him some date advice while she takes Futaba to the mall to pick out a nice outfit for her lunch date with Yuuki the following day.

We see Ren and Yuuki as they walk through the shopping district to get some presents for Futaba for her's and Yuuki's lunch date tomorrow.

"So tell me, Ren," Yuuki said, "You and Ann seem happy enough. What are the keys to having a successful and happy relationship?"

"There's a lot of things, actually," Ren said, "But the most important things are honest communication, trust, respect, support, and spontaneity."

"So support is basically support Futaba and I supporting each other's dreams and decisions," Yuuki began, "Respect is to respect each other's boundaries and keep secrets between us. Trust and honesty sound self explanatory. But what about spontaneity?"

"You'll find that being spontaneous in a relationship can work wonders in keeping the sparks alive," Ren explained, "Getting gifts for your loved one no matter what day it is. Go to different places on your dates. Do different activities together. And, when the time comes, random make out sessions. All of these fall under the category of spontaneity."

"I think I get it," Yuuki said, "What other advice do you recommend?"

"Don't make promises you can't keep," Ren said, "Always be a man of your word."

"That should be easy," Yuuki said, "I was raised with the sole belief that I may not have much, but I always have my word. I told Futaba I'd pick her up at noon, and that's what I'm going to do. Not 12:01, noon on the dot."

"That's good," Ren smiled, "We need more men like you and me in this world. It seems like one's word means nothing nowadays."

"I know," Yuuki said, "It's kind of a disgrace when you think about it."

"Anyway, we should probably work on getting Futaba some gifts," Ren said.

"Right," Yuuki said, "I was thinking of getting her chocolate and flowers; Oldies but goodies."

"Sounds good," Ren said.

"What flower do you think I should get her?" Yuuki asked.

"I hear roses are a great pick for first dates," Ren said.

"Alright," Yuuki said, "But what about chocolates? Do you know what she likes?"

"Well, Futaba's sweet tooth isn't as strong as, say for example, Ann's," Ren said, "But we should get her something with a slight savouriness to it. Some truffles should do the trick. We'll get her a variety pack of them so we can cast a wide net."

"Perfect," Yuuki smiled, "Well, let's get to shopping."

"Maybe we should also get you a nice shirt," Ren said, "First impressions mean everything, especially in romantic relationships."

"Good call," Yuuki said, giving a thumbs up.

With that, the two men start shopping for Futaba's gifts as well as a spiffy shirt for Yuuki.

Meanwhile, Ann and Futaba were visiting the local boutique trying to find a presentable get-up for the orange haired gamer girl.

"So what outfit were you thinking of getting, Futaba?" Ann asked.

"Actually, since it's our first date, I was thinking…" Futaba began before she got cut off by Ann.

"We should really prioritize the color," Ann said, "I remember Mishima saying yellow was his favorite color once."

"While that's not a bad idea," Futaba said, "I actually want to…"

"Oh," Ann went as she found a frilly yellow dress, "Look at this dress, it's perfect! It has Mishima's favorite color, it's nice and frilly to make you seem more elegant, and it's strapless so he can get a look at your shoulders."

"If you'd let me finish, Ann, I was going to say that since it's our first date, I was thinking of going a bit more casual," Futaba said.

"Right, right," Ann said as she put the dress back, "Don't want to pull out all the stops on a first date. That's usually saved for date number three where…you know."

"I don't know," Futaba said, "I've never been on a date before."

"Eh, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Ann said with the shrug of her shoulders, "Anyway, if you're going more casual, what do you think of jeans and a t-shirt?"

"I'll take the jeans, Ann," Futaba said, "And maybe I'll get some new shoes to go with them."

"Sounds good," Ann smiled as the blonde and the orange haired duo started to look for some shoes and a fresh pair of pants.

Eventually, the big day came; Saturday! Yuuki was seen wearing some light brown dress pants with dark brown loafers and a long sleeve blue and white pinstripe shirt. On hand, he had a box of chocolate truffles in a heart shaped box and two roses. He heard from Ren that one rose is synonymous with a declaration of love, and he thought that a bouquet was too much. But, he also heard that two roses sends a clear but restrained message; something that says 'I care about you, but I want to go slow for right now'.

At long last, the blue haired young man was approaching the Sakura Residence. He knocks on the front door expecting Futaba to answer…only to get Sojiro instead.

"Oh, uh, hello, sir," Yuuki said nervously.

"I heard Futaba was going out on a date today," Sojiro said, "She just didn't tell me with whom."

"Don't worry, Mr. Sojiro, you can trust me," Yuuki said, "Futaba is in good hands today."

"For your sake I hope she is," Sojiro said, looking at Yuuki right in his eyes, putting the blue haired teen on edge.

"Sojiro, is that Mishima?" Futbaba asked from inside.

"Yes, he's at the front door," Sojiro answered.

Sojiro moved out of the way so Futaba could leave out the front door and go with Yuuki to Bikkuri Boy. She was seen wearing her usual get up with the only difference being that she's now wearing some gray pants with white and yellow sneakers. She also doesn't have her trusty AKG K845BT headphones with her.

"Hey, Mishima," Futaba greeted.

"Hi, Futaba," Yuuki smiled, "Ready to go?"

"You bet," Futaba said before turning to Sojiro, "We'll be back soon, Sojiro."

"Alright, Futaba, take care," Sojiro said before looking at Yuuki, "And as for you…take good care of her."

"You can count on me, sir," Yuuki said as the two of them left the scene and started to make their way towards the bus stop that'll take them to Bikkuri Boy.

"Boy, Sojiro can be kind of scary when he wants to be," Yuuki said.

"Ah, don't worry about him," Futaba said, "He may put on a tough front, but he's really a big softy deep down. He's just worried about me, that's all."

"Yeah, I get it," Yuuki said, "A father just looking out for his daughter. That's understandable."

"I don't know if you know, but Sojiro's not really my father," Futaba admitted, "I'll elaborate more when we get to Bikkuri Boy if you want."

"Alright," Yuuki said as the two of them made it to the bus stop and sat down on the bench that was there, "Oh, before I forget, I bought these roses and these chocolate truffles for you."

Futaba took the roses from Yuuki and took a nice long sniff from them.

"They look and smell great, Mishima," Futaba said, "Thank you. That is quite the big box of truffles though. I don't think I can eat them all by myself. Want to share them with me while we wait for the bus?"

"I'd like that," Yuuki smiled as he opened the box revealing milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate truffles, "I wasn't sure what type of chocolate you preferred so I figured I'd get a variety pack."

"That's fine," Futaba said as she took a milk chocolate truffle while Yuuki grabs a dark chocolate one.

They ate their treats and sighed blissfully when the flavor hit their taste buds.

"These are so good," Futaba said happily.

"I'm glad you liked them," Yuuki said, "I was originally going to get you some caramel chocolate or coffee flavored ones, but Ren insisted I get you these."

"I'm glad you did," Futaba said before looking at Yuuki in his new clothes. Even she couldn't deny that the blue haired individual looked handsome when put in the right wardrobe, "You look nice."

"Thanks," Yuuki said, "You like nice yourself."

"It's just my usual wardrobe with some new pants and sneakers thrown into the mix," Futaba said.

"Well, those are some pretty nice sneakers," Yuuki said as he admired the orange haired girls 'kicks', "I especially like the bits of yellow on them."

"Yeah, Ann told me you liked the color yellow," Futaba said just as the bus pulled in to pick the two of them up, "Hey, our ride is here!"

"Ladies first," Yuuki said as he let Futaba board the bus first before he himself stepped on. Yuuki paid their fare before taking their seats, allowing the bus to drive off.

When the duo got to Bikkuri Boy, a waitress showed them to their table. Yuuki continued his gentlemanly streak by pulling the chair out for Futaba to sit down before he took a seat himself. The two of them ordered two Frui-Teas and Two Nostalgic Steaks, and the waitress left to place their orders in, allowing the two of them to talk while they waited for their food and beverages to come.

"I'm glad you decided to go out with me," Yuuki smiled, "Other than school, I don't really see you that much."

"Yeah, I'm kind of a hermit," Futaba ashamedly admitted.

"You're going to miss out on a lot of cool things if you remain a shut-in," Yuuki said in a warning tone, "While I like binging movies and being a homebody as much as the next guy, life is too short to stay in the confines of your home."

"I know," Futaba said, "But I'm trying to get better. I like to think that joining the Phantom Thieves helped in getting me out of my comfort zone. Speaking of which, you do work on the Phan-site, right?"

"I try to keep up with it every now and again," Yuuki said, "But most of my attention has gone towards this new passion of mine; writing."

"You like to write?" Futaba asked.

"I dabble," Yuuki said, "I'll see how this first book idea pans out, then I'll decide where to go from there."

"What's your book going to be about?" Futaba asked.

"Just a little documentary about the Phantom Thieves," Yuuki said, "It's going to be best selling material, I can tell."

"And what do you plan on writing after that?" Futaba asked.

"Well, I don't know," Yuuki said, "I haven't really thought about it."

"Writing is more than just a book you know," Futaba said, "Since you have a penchant for writing and internet stuff, why don't you follow in my footsteps and be an influencer."

"And influencer?" Yuuki said.

"Yeah," Futaba said, "And before you ask, no I don't want to be a camgirl."

"I wasn't even thinking that," Yuuki said.

"There's this new streaming site called 'Glitch'," Futaba explained, "I figured I'd take my passion for playing video games and make myself a channel on that site. I hear a lot of people become millionaires that way."

"Nice," Yuuki said, "But what should I do if I want to be an influencer?"

"Well, like you said, you like to write and you've made the Phan-Site," Futaba said, "You, my friend, have 'professional blogger' written all over you!"

"You think so?" Yuuki asked, flattered.

"Only one way to find out," Futaba said.

"I guess I can give it the old college try," Yuuki said, "Hey, maybe I can make a blog about you if your streaming thing takes off."

"I'd like that," Futaba smiled.

"I'm still probably going to go to college though and get a degree of some kind so that I have something resembling a back-up plan," Yuuki said.

"If you want to accumulate massive amounts of debt, be my guest," Futaba teased.

"You're not going to college?" Yuuki asked.

"If this streaming thing takes off, who needs college?" Futaba said.

"You're awfully confident in this little venture," Yuuki said.

"If there's one thing I've learned from hanging out with the Phantom Thieves, confidence is the key to getting anything and everything you want," Futaba said, "So not only am I breaking out of my shell more, but I'm also looking to try new things and learn something from these new experiences."

"That's great," Yuuki smiled as the waitress came back with their Frui-Teas.

"Two Frui-Teas?" The waitress asked.

"Yes, please," Yuuki said as the waitress handed the duo their drinks before leaving elsewhere so the two of them could continue talking, "So, you said that Sojiro isn't really your father. Does that mean you're adopted?"

"Yes," Futaba answered, "Sojiro took me in after he learned about my 'living situation' with my relatives, particularly my uncle, Youji. Let me explain, sometime ago my mother, Wakaba, was killed. When my uncle found out, he was quick to take me in, but because they initially believe my mother committed suicide, combined with her overall success in life, he treated me like garbage. He made me sleep on the floor, and he wouldn't feed me or bathe me for days at a time."

"That's horrible!" Yuuki cried.

"When Sojiro, who was a close friend to my mother found out about my abuse, he took me in and adopted me, and I've been living with him ever since," Futaba continued, "The whole ordeal combined with my mother's death is what caused me to be a shut-in. But, thankfully, I met Ren, Ann, and all of their friends and they put me back on the right path."

"I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that, Futaba," Yuuki frowned.

"Don't worry about it, Mishima," Futaba said, "It's all over now, and I like to think I've become a better and stronger person because of these hardships. But enough about me, what can you tell me about your family? Surely, they can't be any worse than my biological one."

"Well, they're not abusive like your uncle," Yuuki said, "But sometimes I do feel neglected by them."

"What do you mean?" Futaba said.

"For as long as I can remember, my mom and dad always prioritized work over everything," Yuuki said, "My dad is a lawyer and my mom is a surgeon, so it's rare when I get to see them. On a good day I see them for at least an hour or two and we'd talk about this and that, but they usually just pawn me off on one of my grandparents, and they'd usually take care of me. I guess mom and dad feel guilty about neglecting me because they try to buy my love with all of these things. And while I do appreciate the gesture, a nice toy or nice clothes isn't the same as a hug from a mother or a pat on the back from a father. The only time I ever get to spend with my parents is when we go on vacation. But good parents are there 24/7, not when they get a break from work."

Futaba frowned upon hearing Yuuki's sad and lonesome homelife. At least she had a few years with her mother and is currently living a happy life with Sojiro. Yuuki on the other hand had been living this lifestyle since the day he was born.

"I'll tell you, Futaba," Yuuki continued, "If the day comes when I have kids of my own, I'm going to spend every minute of every hour with them when I'm not working. I'm going to show them the exact love that my parents never showed me. I'm going to show them that love can't be bought. I'll take them out for ice cream, play catch, help them with their homework, and do what a good father does!"

Futaba could sense that Yuuki was becoming emotional so she went over to his chair and hugged him, butting him at ease.

"It's okay, Yuuki," Futaba said, "Everything will be fine. And I know you'll be a great father one day."

The hug combined with Futaba calling him by his first name rather than his last name made Yuuki calm down as a smile returned to his face.

"Thanks, Futaba," Yuuki said, wiping a tear from his eye, "I needed that."

"Sounds like you've been holding onto those feelings for a while and it took until now for you to properly let them out," Futaba said.

"I guess so," Yuuki said, "I'm sorry for getting a little emotional though."

"It's alright," Futaba smiled, "We all have our moments. But you know what really cheers me up whenever I feel down?"

"What?" Yuuki asked curiously.

"I play a good video game," Futaba said, "You do play, right?"

"Occasionally," Yuuki answered, "I've always been more of a tabletop games kind of person."

"Well, after this, we should head back to my place so I can show you exactly what you're missing," Futaba said as the waitress returned with their Nostalgic Steaks.

"Bon appetit," The waitress said as she left the two teens to eat their steaks.

After their lunch, Yuuki paid for the meal before he and Futaba headed back to the Sakura Residence. When they got back, they noticed that Sojiro wasn't home.

"Where's Sojiro?" Yuuki asked.

"He probably went to Leblanc," Futaba explained, "Come on, follow me to my room."

Yuuki followed the orange haired girl upstairs to her room where she presented him with her video game collection.

"So, Yuuki," Futaba said, "What game do you fancy?"

Yuuki skimmed through Futaba's collection when he found a game that looked familiar to him; Knock-Out (Punch-Out).

"No way," Yuuki exclaimed, "You have Knock-Out?!"

"You know about this game?" Futaba asked.

"Of course," Yuuki said, "My grandparents own this game and they let me play it whenever I was over at their house. Apparently this game was my dad's favorite when he was younger. It's been a while since I last played. I wonder if I'm still any good at it?"

"Let's find out, shall we?" Futaba said as she took the game from Yuuki and put it into the console. The two of them sat down on Futaba's bed, controllers in hand, and selected 1-on-1 multiplayer mode.

Futaba and Yuuki played Knock-Out for about 30 minutes. As Yuuki predicted, he was a little rusty, but the more he played the better he got. He even managed to beat Futaba in a few rounds. Even better, Futaba taught him a few combos and gave him some helpful tips. After playing a few more rounds of Knock-Out, they played a few rounds in Marco Cart, where Yuuki did much better, winning more races than Futaba. After that, they decided to cap off their afternoon by playing through a few levels of Rapid Journey 2 (Sonic Adventure 2).

A good time was had by Futaba and Yuuki both.

Eventually, it was time for Yuuki to head home, and he and Futaba were seen by the front door, the latter wanting to see the former off.

"I had a lot of fun today, Yuuki," Futaba said, "Thanks for taking me out. And thanks again for the roses and chocolates"

"You're so welcome, Futaba," Yuuki said.

Futaba then noticed that Yuuki had a nervous look on his face.

"Everything alright?" Futaba asked.

"Yeah," Yuuki said, "I just want to know something."

"Anything," Futaba said.

"Since we had so much fun today, I was wondering if you wanted to…maybe…go to the White Day Dance with me next week?" Yuuki asked, a blush coming to his cheeks.

Unlike when Yuuki invited her for today's lunch date the other day, Futaba quickly answered.

"I had such a good time with you today that I'd be delighted to go with you to the dance," Futaba responded happily.

"You mean it?" Yuuki said excitedly.

"Sure," Futaba said, "It'll be fun."

"Great!" Yuuki smiled, "I'll pick you up at around six."

"It's a date!" Futaba said, "Goodbye, Yuuki. Have a safe trip home."

"Thanks," Yuuki said as the two of them engaged in their first ever hug. It felt a little weird, but they were sure that they'd get used to it the more dates they go on.

After the hug, Yuuki made his leave as Futaba closed the door behind him. The whole walk home, Yuuki had an even bigger smile on his face than he did when he asked her out the first time. He was so happy that he took out his phone once again and walked home to the beat of 'We Are the Champions'.

Eventually, the night of the White Day Dance arrived! Yuuki, wearing a nice dark blue suit that's almost the same shade of blue as his hair, returns to the Sakura Residence to pick Futaba up. When Futaba appeared, she was wearing the same yellow dress that Ann showed her at the boutique the previous week. On top of that, her long orange hair was tied up in a bun. Yuuki had never seen a more beautiful woman, and staring at the lovely Futaba made him blush hard.

Sojiro was kind enough to drive the two of them to Shujin Academy for the dance, and he dropped them off in front of the school. Hand-in-hand, Yuuki and Futaba entered the school gymnasium where the festivities were being held.

It seemed like the whole school showed up and then some. Ryuji was hanging out by the snack table. Sumire was having a chat with Ichiro. Makoto and Haru were helping out by being chaperones, the latter bringing Yusuke along for the ride. And, of course, Ren and Ann were there dancing and being a loving couple. Both Yuuki and Futaba felt better knowing that their friends were there.

The blue and orange haired duo spent their time chatting, eating delicious sweets, dancing to whatever songs they had playing, and conversing with their classmates in an attempt to socialize and break out of their respective comfort zones. Eventually, we see the two of them sitting at a table, eating some cookies and drinking some punch.

"I'm having a great time tonight, Yuuki," Futaba said.

"I'm glad to hear that, Futaba," Yuuki said as he picked up his punch glass while his better half did the same, "Cheers."

The two of them 'clink' their cups and take a sip.

"I hear that Eiko Takao is having an after party at her place while her folks are out of town," Futaba said, "Do you want to go with me?"

"Are you kidding? That sounds awesome!" Yuuki said, "I've never been to an after party before."

"Me neither," Futaba said, "This'll be a new experience for the both of us."

(BGM: 'Careless Whisper' by George Michael)

Suddenly, a slow song was heard playing as all of the couples went out on the dance floor to partake in some slow dancing. Yuuki saw this, so he got up from his chair and held out his hand for Futaba to take.

"May I have this dance?" Yuuki asked.

"You may," Futaba said as the blue haired male guided his orange haired date to the dance floor

In preparation for the dance, the two of them looked up a video together on how to properly slow dance. So, when they got to the dance floor, Yuuki put his hands around Futaba's waist, while Futaba put her arms around Yuuki's shoulders, and they sway back and forth to the beat of the music.

"This is nice," Futaba smiled.

"Yeah, it really is," Yuuki said.

As Futaba and Yuuki continued to slow dance, they stared into each other's eyes, focusing wholly on each other. The only time they took their eyes off of each other was when they saw Ryuji go out on the dance floor with Makoto so they could partake in the dance.

"Ryuji and Makoto," Futaba said, "Who'd have thought."

"Yeah," Yuuki concurred, "Although Ann was right, they do make a cute couple."

"I guess so," Futaba said as she continued dancing with her blue haired date.

They continued dancing, enjoying each other's embrace until the song was about to end, at which point Yuuki and Futaba stared at each other lovingly before going in for a kiss. They both closed their eyes as they enjoyed the feeling of their lips connected. The kiss lasted for about ten seconds before they disconnected, at which point they both had a stupified look on their faces.

"Wow, Yuuki," Futaba said amazed, "That was amazing!"

"I've had a lot of practice with my pillow," Yuuki joked.

"I can see," Futaba giggled, "But you know what that kiss felt like?"

"More," Futaba continued.

"My thoughts exactly," Yuuki said as the two of them kissed again, a blush coming to both of their cheeks.

This would be a night that neither of them will forget anytime soon.
