Chapter 35

My Hero

Kitsune sat on a tower as he looked at the gray clouded sky. He smiled under his mask as he brought his hand out as dark particles came out of it, "Now, will the Hero fall in the rain or will the assassins carry the Hero's burden,"

Kitsune got up as he looked at the plaza, "Assassins now trying to save someone instead of killing,"

"Izuku Midoriya, the anomaly of this world that will truly save this corrupt world," Kitsune said.

"Who'll also save me from this darkness that the Empire cast upon me," he said as he vanished into thin air again, merging with the shadows.

In the Kyoroch Plaza

The rain poured in the plaza as the only thing that could be heard was the pouring rain. Izuku stood in the rain, slouched as he looked at Night Raid. Izuku then jumped up as he was about to fly away.

"Lubba!" Leone shouted at him.

"On it!" He launched strings at Izuku as Izuku saw them as he brought out Black Whip. The strings and Blackwhip both clashed as the strings tangled up the black tendrils. Lubbock was then brought up in the air as Izuku pulled him away from the other.

Lubbock's face turned into a panic mode, "Guys!"

Izuku made Black Whip vanish as he was about to leave but Lubbock then wrapped him in the strings. "You're not going anyway Izuku, you may not trust us but that doesn't mean we're going to stop trying to help you!"

Izuku stayed silent as he used Black Whip once more but from his back as he pushed the strings out as he then burst out of it by using the tendrils. Izuku then flew off but there was a string still attached to him

Lubbock was still holding on until Leone jumped up to him and grabbed the string with him.

"Oh no you don't!" She pulled as hard as she can as Izuku was pulled back and thrown to the ground. Izuku skidded on the floor as he looked up to see Susanoo was in front of him. Susanoo wrapped him in a bear hug as Izuku struggled to get out of his grip.

Leone started to run up on him, "We aren't going to lose you Greenie! You're a friend that we can't lose!"

Izuku gritted his teeth as he struggled against Susanoo's strength. He was exhausted and starving but he couldn't stay with them, if he was near them and they were in danger, he didn't know if he could save them. He wanted to protect them, he didn't want to risk losing his friends again.

"Stop struggling, you're malnourished and your clothes are all ripped and dirty, allow me to clean them Izuku," Susanoo said to him.

Izuku stopped for a moment as he concentrated, channeling One for All throughout his body with an even greater output than he had.

"Thank you… Susanoo but… I'm fine!"

Izuku released 50% Full Cowling throughout his body as he then burst out of Susanoo's grip as Leone was shocked. Izuku looked at her as he dashed right by her. Leone however was quick as she grabbed his arm as she was about to wrap him in a hold but Izuku reeled his arm in as she was caught off guard. He then lower the percentage to 10% as he formed a fist on his left.

"I'm sorry…" Izuku said as he jabbed her in the stomach. She coughed up spit as she was sent back. Susanoo caught her just in time as she looked at Izuku while she was smiling.

"Oh you've done it now!" Leone then got off of Susanoo as she dashed towards him again. Leone brought her hand out as she tried to grab him but Izuku deflected her hand away as he tried to get away from her. But she kept pushing as she was on the offensive.

Izuku kept deflecting her hands away. She then brought her left hand out as she did another grab but Izuku side stepped out of it as he pushed her hand down. Izuku then jumped over her as he wrapped her with Black Whip as he then brought her up and swung her away from him.

Izuku pushed her lightly as Leone was rolling on the floor as she stopped herself.

"Izuku!" She called out but he ignored her as he tried to fly up in the sky but a beam was shot above him. Izuku was forced to land back down. He turned to who shot the beam as Mein was aiming above him.

"Where are you going Izuku, we still haven't repaid you for saving us," Mein said as Sheele dashed towards him. Izuku tried to launch Black Whip at her but she used Extase to blind him. Izuku closed his eyes as he covered his face.

He then felt a blunt object slam into his abdomen as he opened his eyes to see Sheele using the bluntness of Extase as Izuku was launched back. He then looked behind him to see a net of strings behind as Lubbock had set up a trap for him.

"Got you now!"

Izuku then pointed his left hand towards the ground and flicked as he soared upward in the air as he dodged the net. Lubbock cursed under his breath.

Mein switched her ammo as she then shot another at Izuku. Hitting him but it wasn't a beam it as a rubber bullet hitting the side of him.

Izuku coughed as he flew back down. He used Black Whip to keep him up as he looked to see Sheele running at him again.

"Izuku, you saved us and now it's our turn to return the favor. We will save you, we'll walk by your side again!" Sheele said.

Izuku then put his hand on the ground as he was in a low stance, "I can't allow that… not when I failed to save them…"

Izuku said, holding back the pain in his voice.

"6th! Smokescreen!" Underneath Izuku, purple smoke burst out, spreading across the plaza.

Everyone covered their faces but then Tatsumi swung his spear with all his might, directing the smoke away from their vision. Izuku was already in the air by then. Mein was about to fire but Tatsumi jumped at incredible speed to reach him. He made Neuntote vanish as he then tackled Izuku.

"Damn it Izuku, stop running!"

Izuku then reeled his fist back as air surrounded his fist. Tatsumi then reeled back as well as they threw a punch at each other. Causing the rain to disperse in their area. They then separated as they both landed distances away from each other. The rain continued to pour down on them. Tatsumi rushed at him as Izuku jumped back but it wasn't enough as Tatsumi was already upon him.

"Remember what I said Izuku!"

Izuku stayed silent as he looked at Tatsumi, Tatsumi' Incursio eyes staring right at him.

"I said that you're not alone and that we're here for you!" Tatsumk shouted at him.

Izuku said nothing as Tatsumi got in a low stance, "We're going to help you… all the way, whatever it takes!"

Tatsumi launched at him as Izukj got ready to use Smokescreen again. The smoke started to spread but then rubber bullets started to rain down on him as he looked at the corner of his eyes to see Mein being carried by Susanoo.

Izuku was about to clash with Tatsumi but then he was then wrapped in strings again. Then felt something weighing him down as he looked behind him to see Leone and Lubbock trying to hold him down.

"Didn't I tell you!" Mein shouted.

Izuku looked at her, "I'll shoot you a hundred times over if you die, so don't make me shoot that many bullets at you"

"Stop trying to burden everything by yourself Izuku!" Leone shouted at him.

"We are here too! So let us help!" Lubbock shouted right after her.

Sheele then rushed to back up Tatsumi, "You're important to us, you're irreplaceable to us! To Eri! So please stop!" She shouted.

"Izuku!" Tatsumi shouted.

Izuku gritted his teeth as he looked at him, "STOP IT!"

Izuku forced his way out of the hold as he caused a massive shockwave and a massive dust cloud was made when he burst out of the strings. They all covered their faces as he was now in the air, trying to get away from them.

'I know…'

Izuku's mask was off as you could see his dirty face and tired eyes. The strain in them, his pain, his sorrow, his guilt. It was all written on his face.

'I know you guys are worried about me but please…! I… don't want to… risk losing you all!'

Izuku then was hit with a mechanical arm as he plummeted down to the ground as he struggled to get up as he slowly looked up at the one who hit him.

Najenda looked at him, "Izuku…I know you can't forgive me… but this isn't helping anyone, it isn't helping you."

She walked towards as Izuku got up slowly as he swayed back and forth, trying to stay standing.

"Eri is worried, we are worried, we can't afford to lose you," Najenda said to him as she locked eyes with him.

Izuku got low as he looked at her, "Get out of my way!"

Izuku launched at her but he was planning to go past her but then he saw a silhouette behind her.

"Go, Akame,"

Akame was then right in front of him as she held her hand on a sword. She then swiped, barely grazing Izuku as he then flipped back as he landed. Izuku touched above his nose but he didn't see any blood. He looked at Akame as he noticed, she wasn't holding Murasame nor was she holding a regular katana. This blade was forged weirdly.

The sharp side of the blade was on the back as the blunt side was now on the sharp side.

"Izuku please stop, you're hurting yourself,"

"I have to Akame… in order for everyone to smile again in order for everyone to be happy-"

"What about your happiness! What about your smile!" Akame shouted at him.

She brought her blade up and pointed at Izuku, "This blade was requested by me, this blade is forged for a reason Izuku,"

Izuku looked at her. Her resolve is ever growing, more determined than she ever was.

"This blade isn't drowned by the countless souls that I've slain… no, it's a blade to cut down the darkness that's drowning you, it's a blade that will save you!

Izuku shook a bit but he then got into a squatting position as if he was about to jump forward. Izuku latched his tendrils to the ground as he looked at Akame.

Akame got into a low stance, "Izuku… we won't let you go…" she said.

"Akame…I…"

Izuku got low as red energy was flowing through his legs. As he then looked at her, "I can't stay anymore…"

Akame widened her eyes as he then launched forward, like a speeding bullet, he flew right past them in an instant as he was in the air. Akame gritted her teeth as she looked back at Izuku, "Now!"

Susanoo appeared in front of him as Izuku was shocked as the Teigu swung his mace. Colliding with Izuku, sending him back as it stopped him from running.

Izuku flipped over as he slammed his hand on the ground to stop him from going further away. Izuku looked up only to see Susanoo was already upon him as he swung his mace down, Izuku dodged it as he gave Susanoo a roundhouse kick but he blocked it with his arm as Susanoo was pushed away from Izuku.

Izuku looked at the nearest tallest building as he tried to shoot out Black Whip to get away but Mein shot through the Black Tendril as Izuku couldn't get a chance to escape. He heard footsteps approaching, one behind him and one in front as he looked to see Sheele running at him with Extase as she was about to swing. Izuku looked behind as Leone was pouncing towards him.

Izuku jumped in the air as the both came to a halting stop as they looked at Izuku floating in the air. The hero tried again to escape but was tackled by Tatsumi as they flew straight down. Colliding to the ground as they rolled but Izuku separated both of them as he got on his feet and looked at Tatsumi as they stood feet away.

Tatsumi looked at him as he got in his fighting stance.

"Izuku, we're going to save you! Even if it means we have to drag you back to HQ!"

Izuku didn't say anything as he got into his fighting stance as well as he then charged at Tatsumi. The Incursio user then intercepted him with a right punch. Izuku responded as well when their attacks collided, sending a shockwave through the area.

They then started to trade blows, blocking and catching their attacks, not one leaving marks on each other. Trading each blow at incredible speed.

"We are not leaving without you!"

Izuku gritted his teeth, "I can't go with you all!"

"I don't-!"

"We're not liabilities Izuku! We're more than that!"

Tatsumi then got the upper hand as he shoved Izuku back as they both collided into a wall with Tatsumi holding Izuku against it with his arm against his neck.

"We're teammates! So snap out of it and quit running from us!" Tatsumi shouted.

Izuku was slowly pushing his arm away from his neck as he looked at Tatsumi, "That's exactly why! You all are more than just teammates! I don't want to lose the people I care about again!""

Izuku then amped up his strength as he started to push back Tatsumi while the latter tried to keep the pressure but to no avail.

"Which is why! I have to go!"

Izuku successfully pushed him back as he launched a Delaware Smash at him, sending him flying back. Izuku stumbled a bit as the fatigue started to take effect on his body. Izuku shook it off as he tried to fly away but Leone pounced on him, holding his arms up.

"Not a chance Greenie!" Leone smirked.

Izuku was about to break out of her hold until strings started to wrap around his leg, keeping him stuck to the ground.

Lubbock had strings attached to the ground as Tatsumi and Susanoo helped keep it in place so Izuku wouldn't break free from the strings.

"Come on Izuku! Stop this! We just want to help!" Lubbock shouted at him.

"I…" Izuku looked at him as he tried to find a way out of their grasp.

"This time Greenie, we're not letting you go alone this time. That was our mistake, so let us atone for that,"

"We'll carry the burden with you Izuku! You're not the only one that wants to help the Empire, remember why we stayed with Night Raid all these days, so we can make a change!" Tatsumi shouted at him.

Lubbock went up to him as he grabbed his shoulder, "Come on man! Stop trying to do things alone!"

Izuku gritted his teeth, he knew they wanted to help, he knew that they only wanted the best for him…but…

"I…can't!" He shouted.

"Why!" Lubbock shouted back.

"The thought…of losing you all…it hurts…" Izuku looked him straight in the eye as the devoid gaze stared back at Lubbock's.

Akame widened her eyes as she saw the desperation in the Hero's eyes. The pain, the sorrow, all the emotions were being bottled up, in order to do what he can to help everyone. Ignoring his own personal feelings and gains for the sake of others.

Izuku started to move as Leone started to lose her grip on him, the ground shook as the strings started to snap apart. "That's why…!"

Izuku's eyes lit up as One for All coursed through his body. Sending out a surge of energy throughout the area.

"I CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE YOU ALL!" he spoke with desperation.

A massive dust explosion erupted from where he was at as Leone was sent to the wall behind them. Izuku was in the air charging up Fajin as he was preparing to launch.

Akame looked at Lubbock, "Lubba! Now!"

Lubbock got to work as he used every ounce of his strings to conjure up a makeshift slingshot. Leone got out of the wall as she then pulled back the sling as Susanoo went to help as well. They pulled it back as far as they could, covering the streets. Tatsumi got into a running stance as he then closed his eyes, feeling the armor on him.

The beast inside of the armor.

"I know you can hear me, so please give me the strength to save my friend!"

His eyes glowed as he pounced, causing the ground to crack. Racing towards the slingshot, Susanoo and Leone prepared for the impact as Tatsumi jumped and landed on the sling as Leone and Susanoo then let go of the sling, launching Tatsumi into the air at breakneck speed.

Izuku was finished charging up as he burst through the air, leaving green electricity and red particles behind. As he was about to fly away Tatsumi was right on his tail. Tatsumi was closing in as he reached his hand out.

'Izuku! There's so much I want to talk about with you! We've endured a lot together!'

As Tatsumi was closing in Izuku then flicked his fingers as he pushed further away from Tatsumi.

Tatsumk widened his eyes as he looked at Izuku's back.

"Dammit…"

Tatsumi watched as he flew further away, watching Izuku go further away from them. Tatsumi was always watching Izuku, seeing him become stronger these past months made him frustrated. All he wanted to do was stand side by side with him. He then felt something press against his back as he turned to see Susanoo with his mace.

"Grab on,"

Tatsumi nodded as he grabbed his hand, Susanoo twirled Tatsumi around as he was a complete blur swinging him. Susanoo then launched Tatsumi further towards Izuku. Causing Susanoo to fall to the floor, the Teigu looked at Tatsumi as he flew towards Izuku.

Tatsumi was closing behind him as he was frustrated that all this time, he still wasn't close enough to catch him, "IZUKU!"

Izuku tried to ignore him; he had to keep them away, in order for them to live. He was afraid that if they were in danger, he wouldn't be able to reach them, just like Kensei, Mura, and…Bulat.

He then felt Danger as he flicked his fingers in front of him as a beam of light shot in front of him. He looked at who shot it as he saw Mein with Pumpkin with her.

Izuku widened his eyes in realization, "Shit-!"

He then felt someone grab his hand as he flew past Izuku pulling him along with him.

"We're not leaving you Izuku!" Tatsumi shouted as he held his hand.

Izuku widened his eyes and he needed to get Tatsumi to let him go but he felt weak. Too tired to even do anything, he exhausted all of his energy.

"I'm right here by your side Izuku, as your friend!" Izuku gritted his teeth as he was about to say something.

Tatsumi smiled under his masked armor, "Just like you promised Ieyasu that you would be there for me, I'll be here for you partner!"

Izuku widened his eyes as he remembered his words with Ieyasu before he died. To watch over him and stay with him.

Izuku lost his strength to struggle against Tatsumi as he couldn't fight anymore.

Izuku then stopped trying to get out of his grasp as Tatsumi held onto him as he looked down, "Now…how the hell do I land!"

He then saw Susanoo speed towards them as he was right below them. Outpaced them as he opened his arms, ready to catch the two.

Susanoo then caught them without any struggle as he skidded back a bit.

"You two alright," he asked.

"Yeah thanks Susanoo, we're good," he smiled at him.

Tatsumi undid Incursio as he was in his ordinary clothes. Izuku then heard footsteps approaching as he looked to see the rest of Night Raid approaching them.

"You guys…"

"Izuku please come back, you're badly hurt and exhausted. Anymore and you'll die," Sheele said solemnly as she had her hand clasped together.

"And we're not taking no for an answer," Mein stated.

"Greenie, you can't keep holding this burden by yourself, let us carry the weight for you," Leone looked at him with a serious tone in her voice.

Izuku slowly got up as he struggled to keep himself standing straight.

"Izuku hold on!" Tatsumi said.

Tatsumi tried to help him. Izuku walked forward, "Even so… even if I come back with you guys, I'm afraid… that I'll lose you guys…I'm afraid I won't be able…to save you all,"

Izuku's tired eyes looked at the rest of Night Raid.

"I…don't want to lose you all…"

Akame frowned as she walked forward, she didn't like how Izuku was right now. So broken to the point where he can't even smile. He lost two friends right in front of him, the pain of losing loved ones and the fear of losing them as well. These two things drove Izuku to the corner.

Akame was now in front of Izuku as her ruby eyes stared at his emerald eyes. Izuku looked at her but he imagined her all bloodied and hurt. The fear struck into him as he shook, he didn't like that. Not her, gods no not her. That's what all he was thinking about.

"Izuku…"

Akmes voice was filled with worry as Izuku slouched a bit.

"I…can't…lose you all…I can't…lose you…" Izuku said as his emotions were spiraling out of control.

"And I can't lose you as well Izuku,"

Akame looked at Izuku, his battered hero suit, his sunken eyes. The dirt and blood on his face. She couldn't bear to look at him like this. She remembered what Kitsune asked her, when Izuku was hurting and alone, when a hero is the one in pain.

Who will be there for them? Akame didn't know the answer at first but she now knew.

She took a step forwards towards him, "I'll be your hero,"

Izuku looked at her in shock as she said those words. The words that he promised to her.

"Izuku, those words meant the world to me. You were the first person to ever day that to me, and when I see you fight against the world, I admire you for it," Akame said as she brought out the broken necklaces.

"Akame…" Izuku was stunned.

"But when the world tries to change you for the worst I can't stand by and watch you drown in the world's darkness," Akame clenched her fist as she had determination in her eyes.

Najenda widened her eyes as she looked at Akame; she then smiled softly at her.

"I won't let this world take you away, even for a second, I won't allow it," Akame didn't want him to go off on his own again, the pain in his eyes, the burden he was feeling, being everyone's hero. If that was the case then. She looked at him with drive and determination.

"If that burden is too much then I'll carry it for you, side by side. If that darkness is too much then I'll eliminate it for you, whatever it takes," Akame said as she brought her fist out.

"I'll do whatever it takes to protect you, just like you did for everyone else,"

Izuku was in awe at her words, Izuku knew she was fighting her own darkness, when he first saw her smile, all he wanted to do was to protect it no matter what. To Smash the darkness surrounding her.

"Akame…" Izuku couldn't muster any words. He felt his heart beat even more as the feeling was eating at him. After his mission at the mountains, he wanted to say the words to her so bad but everything happened so fast and he couldn't get the chance.

"Izuku, your smile is just as important, you are Night Raid's Hero after all," Akame said as she softly smiled.

"But you are also My Hero, Izuku,"

Izuku felt his heart flutter as she said that as he looked at Akame. She placed her hand on her chest as she blushed a bit. The rain stopped as the sun was piercing the clouds, shining on the two.

"The Hero I fell in Love with,"

Izuku widened his eyes as she said those words. He felt his whole world stop but the only thing moving was his heart as he felt so many emotions rush through him. He took a step forward but he didn't have enough strength as he started to fall. Akame was quick as she grabbed him before he could hit the ground. She held him close as Izuku slowly closed his eyes.

Akame embraced her Hero, never letting him go this time. From now on…she will be by his side from now on. Finally conveying the feeling she had for him.

The hero who was her shining light in her darkest hour. Now Akame was the light in Izuku's darkest hour.
