MoY: Chapter 3

Eddy's mind and heart were filled with anger and hatred from what he learned from Double D's last journal entry. All he could think about was screaming and yelling at his older brother for what he did to one of his best friends. Evan tried to kill Double D, trying to end his life by poisoning him! It almost made him livid enough to kill his older brother with his own two hands, but that would not solve anything; it would only cause more problems, and he knew that.

Eddy had finally returned home. He could hear that Evan was currently upstairs in the guest room, this was around the time he started to get ready for bed. Eddy ran up the stairs to the guest room and slammed open the door to the room, he could see his brother looking out the window before turning his attention over to him.

"Oh, hey there, Pipsqueak!" Evan greeted him with a smile, but it was not a friendly smile in the slightest. It looked more like a taunting smirk plastered on his face. "What's goin' on?"

"Evan, you bastard…" Eddy started to growl at his brother as he came over to him, restraining himself from punching his brother in the face, "YOU were the one who tried to kill my friend, weren't you?!"

"Hmm? Do you mean your friend with the sockhat?" Evan started to question him with a bigger smirk, "I have no idea what—"

"STOP FUCKING PLAYING WITH ME, ASSHOLE!" Eddy shouted to Evan, grabbing him by his shirt and jacket collar in anger, "I read Double D's journal! The last entry he made was about YOU threatening him!"

That was when Evan broke his façade, laughing at how his younger brother was acting to him, "Wow! I didn't think you'd be that upset about this!"

That comment made Eddy snap.

"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THIS TO HIM?!" Eddy finally screamed to him, "He was TRYING to find a college to go to! He had dreams he wanted to accomplish! And now he's in a fucking COMA! YOU TOOK HIS FUTURE AWAY FROM HIM, YOU PRICK! I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!"

Evan suddenly grabbed Eddy by his neck, slamming and pinning him up against the wall beside them, making Eddy stop holding onto his shirt and jacket, "So, what if I did? What are you gonna do about it?" Evan asked with a sinister smirk on his face before he started squeezing both of his hands into Eddy's throat, "You know, I can let you see him where he's going. It won't take that long to do."

Eddy could feel himself getting weaker as he desperately struggled to get out of his brother's grasp, scratching him on his wrists and hands while flailing his feet to try and set himself free. The grip Evan had on his throat was slowly crushing his windpipe, he was beginning to strangle him. Eddy's vision was starting to become blurry as he gritted his teeth in pain, a few tears started to form and fall from his eyes; he could not breathe anymore or focus on what was going on around him. He eventually stopped struggling altogether; his arms fell to the side in defeat and his legs and feet stopped flailing. His whole body had become limp.

Eddy could hear Evan starting to laugh at him, but it was cut short. He could feel Evan forcefully throw or drop him to the floor like a rag doll, making him stop his actions, but it was by that point that the damage was already done. Eddy could hear some muffled noises of a struggle near him but could not see what was going on. He could only assume the police finally came from Double D's house to question his brother, only for them to see what was going on before stopping and arresting his brother. Eddy could feel a hand on his shoulder and a voice talking to him, trying to see if he was okay and responsive, but he could not say anything back. His eyes rolled to the back of his head; he finally blacked out.

Eddy could see nothing around him as he tried to come back to his senses, it was almost like he was in a dark void.

"Uh… Hello?" Eddy called out, he started to walk forward to wherever he needed to go, "Is anyone here?"

Eddy continued to walk forward in the darkness before realizing he had no idea where he was or where he was walking. It was then he could hear someone crying very loudly, widening his eyes as he did; it was Double D's voice! He was somewhere in here!

"Double D?!" Eddy yelled out as he looked once more to see if his friend was around. He was nowhere to be seen, but he could hear him close by.

Eddy started to run to where he thought his friend could be, he could hear his cries becoming louder and louder until he could finally see him in the distance. Double D was sitting on the ground in a fetal position, his head was lowered to his knees, crying his eyes out.

"Double D!" Eddy cried as he came over to his side.

"H-Huh…?!" Double D muttered before realizing he was not alone, "Eddy?!"

Eddy bent down to where Double D was sitting as he tried to reach out to him, but his hand went through his friend's shoulder as if he were a ghost. They both widened their eyes at this.

"Double D, what's going on?!" Eddy started to ask in a panic, "Are we both dead?!"

"I-I certainly hope not!" Double D replied with panic in his voice. He reached to see if the same thing would happen if he tried to interact with Eddy, which proved to be the case. His hand went through Eddy's arm, "Oh dear…"

Eddy made an irritated sigh, "Well, I guess that answers my question."

He sat down next to his friend in the dark void around them. They sat there for a few seconds before one of them started to talk, "It feels like I've been sitting here for a very long time…" Double D stated, he could start to feel himself tear up again, "Eddy, please. You must tell me… What happened to me after I died?"

Eddy was silent to him for a second, not even turning to look at him, "You're not dead, Sockhead, you're in a coma, but… They said you probably won't ever wake up."

Double D looked at Eddy with shock for a second before making a sad sigh, turning away from him, "I see… So, I'm as good as dead either way. I'm not surprised."

"… Double D, why did you not tell anyone that my brother was threatening you?"

Double D visibly flinched at his question, "B-Because I could see both of you were trying to fix what was broken between you two. I didn't want to get in your way… But I guess that was all an elaborate act by your brother."

Eddy made an angry glare at that, "Yeah, it was. Once I found out he was the one who did this to you, I ran home to confront him, and…" he paused at what he was going to say next, rubbing his hands around his neck and throat, remembering what happened, "Evan started to strangle me…" he lowered his head, "I-I know I'm dead now, or probably in limbo; us talking like this right now proves it."

"E-Eddy!" Double D yelped in disbelief, looking at his friend in sadness. He wished there was a way to help Eddy, but he knew it was too late for them both, "I-I'm so sorry…"

Double D could feel himself tearing up again before starting to cry for him. Eddy looked towards his friend beside him, remembering what he read in Double D's journals a moment ago.

"… Hey, Double D."

"Y-Yes, Eddy?"

Eddy paused for a second before telling him, "I had to read your journals to know that it was Evan that was threatening you, and… I saw the other things you wrote. Sorry about that."

Double D froze in fright at what he said, widening his eyes as he did, "You did WHAT…?!" He turned to Eddy with a small bit of anger on his face before it quickly went away, making a sad sigh, "I guess it doesn't matter anymore if you read it or not. We're both in limbo, and I don't think we're going to recover."

The two teens sat there for a little longer, "So… How many of my journal entries did you read?" Double D asked, "I assume you didn't only read the last entry of the third one. I know you probably read more than that because you're nosey."

"H-Hey! No need to call me out like that! I didn't want to read it at first, you know?!" Eddy retorted before making a sigh, "But you're right, I did read all of them. I wanted to know for sure why this happened to you, so I started from the first journal until I finished the third one."

"… I see," Double D muttered in sadness, "Then that means you've read the entries about, umm, how I feel… about you."

"… Yeah, I did."

There was an awkward silence between the two. They did not know what to say or do now to make each other feel better. They were both ghosts in limbo now, so they could not attempt to hug or hold their hand in support.

"Listen to me for a second, okay?" Eddy started to say to his friend, "We should try to find a way to leave this place."

"Huh?!" Double D gasped, "But Eddy, this is—"

"Yeah, I know! It's limbo!" Eddy interrupted him, "But because it's limbo, there's a chance we can make it back to the world of the living, right?"

Double D paused at what he was trying to say, "You're right, but the chances are extremely slim! We could die for real if we try!"

"Well, we won't know for sure until we actually give it a try!" Eddy said with a smile as he began to stand up from where he sat on the ground. He looked back to Double D, who was still sitting down beside him, "Come on, I'm not leaving this place without you, Sockhead!"

Double D widened his eyes to him, he could tell how serious he was, "… A-Alright."

He soon started to get up to stand next to Eddy, "Let's try to go home."
