So, chapter 3 was temporarily removed. Why? In the name of character development and continuity, of course!

A very smart person pointed out; that having me jump from one major event to another is not smart. I tend to agree.

So in the name of decent writing: I will right my wrong. This story is kind of a passion project. Also, I desperately want to make clear that I HATE leaving things unfinished. I would feel bummed out too if a good story were to abruptly end.

Chapters are also going to be a bit longer and in depth. Having said all that.

Adios!

Louis loudly slammed the door behind him. He has never been this angry before. He threw the chair standing beside the door over in fury.

"Damn it all! Those morons!" He nearly sobbed those words. He caught himself. "Can't they see that they're throwing away everything!"

He contemplated on how he was going to fix the mess they have found themselves in. Segregation basically being a death sentence to any and all club activities.

"Maybe I can plead my case with the principal, I doubt that will work. The school is going into damage control, seeing if they can salvage the situation. We're far past salvation." The deer got out his phone to see if any news outlets have already reported on yet another killing.

Looks like they haven't found out about it yet. It will get out eventually though, all the effort will be in vain.

Louis was walking around the room in a panic of his own. Not only was one dead animal bad enough, now there were two.

How was he going to become Beastar if he didn't have anyone to appeal to? Everyone would just be too afraid to even give him the time of day.

Not only that: there were two killers instead of one. The claw and bite marks confirmed that both animals were killed by a large breed carnivore. However, there was one slight discrepancy between the two: the size of the teeth.

If it hadn't been for that; the police would've never figured it out. It seems like they're not that incompetent after all, except for letting another student get killed, of course.

Louis slammed his fists on the table in frustration. He was totally out of breath. Plunging into his office chair, he caught his breath.

Is it all a game to them? Killing innocents? No, those bastards are too weak to keep those claws and fangs to themselves. It's hardly a game anymore, they've already lost.

Louis sat back in his chair, unmoving. He was trying to make sense of it all. Alas, there is no sense to instinct. No method to the madness.

Mindless slaughter was part of the recipe: a price with a cost. Short term indulgence causing long term harm.

What would Oguma do? What would a Beastar do?

The answer was obvious, but also unattainable. Even if he caught them; what would he do? He doesn't have claws to scratch with and sharp teeth to bite with.

Louis groans were growing into a straight up lament. Constantly pondering the implications.

I am weak! Powerless! I don't even stand a chance.

The deer wallowed in self-pity for a while until he remembered something important. He had a gun hidden in his office. He could level the playing field, even if it was just a little bit.

He got up and went over to his little hiding spot. Louis grabbed the gun and put it in between his pants.

"Haru, I know you wanted to be remembered as a person and not a victim. I will grant you that wish by finding the ones responsible. I, at least, owe you that.", Louis said with newfound conviction.

I hate that it had to be you of all people, Haru. If only I were there to protect you. I already miss that smile of yours. You telling me to be true to myself, was the most validated I have ever felt.

The deer was shaking, emotions dwelling just under his skin. Despite how straining it was he tried keeping it all down.

Unfortunately, that did not last him very long. The deer fell to his knees in shaking, awful sobs of misery. He tried to steady himself and stand on his still hurt leg.

With his newfound passion and conviction he made an oath. One he would fulfill even if it cost him his life.

"I will find who did this to you and make them pay. I promise."

Police lights swirled in all directions, the sounds of anguish and confusion polluting the air. Animals of all kinds were swarming around the scene.

Jack could smell the strong scent coming from the crime scene. He held his hand in front of his snout. From all the panic, he could see it was an absolute mess.

Even now I can still smell it. Disgusting! How could somebody do this to another animal?!

Everyone in room 701 looked in horror at the sight. Durham looking as if he was about to throw up.

"There is no way. Two in three days? W-what kind of monster are we dealing with here?", Voss asked incredulously. His face squirmed in revulsion.

Collot shook his head. "We're dealing with a dangerous predator: I can tell you that." He tried looking fearless, but his tail gave him away; tucked between his legs.

A group of herbivores hurriedly walked by apprehensively staring at the canines. Durham gave them a questioning look.

"Hurry l-let's get out of here!", a rabbit squeaked. His ears tucked tightly to his head. "Y-yes, good i-idea.", a porcupine agreed.

"Jack, can you believe this? We're already getting blamed by class association!", Durham complained. "Just because we're carnivores, doesn't mean they can put us in the same box as that killer." The coyote looked exasperated and indignant.

Jack looked at Durham worriedly. "I think that will be the least of our problems in the coming weeks. Given what happened in the span of three days: we will probably be segregated." Jack's tone was empty and matter of fact.

Everyone exchanged worried glances. Miguno seemed especially out of it. "Where is Legosi? I hope he is alright." The hyena's voice was higher than usual. This only happened when he was anxious, which given his nature, wasn't often.

"I think he's still having rehearsals for drama club. That play he was talking about will definitely get cancelled.", Collot answered woefully. "Should we go and get him?"

Everyone collectively nodded and quickly made their ways to the drama club only to be sometimes stopped by walls of students.

Given the situation room 701 was in; they decided it was for the best that only one of them went inside. Taking into consideration that Jack is Legosi's best friend, he went inside to get the gray wolf.

The Lab walked around the hallways of the building pretty sure he was lost. He sniffed so that he could maybe follow Legosi by his scent.

His face changed into a smile, he has hit the jackpot.

Ah, flowers! That has to be him! That means I just have to go left.

Jack was so focused on his scent that he totally ignored his surroundings. He bumped into someone else. A female cheetah staggered back a bit.

"Hey, watch where you're walking! Who are you and what are you doing here?", she rightfully inquired.

Jack stammered a bit. "Uh, uh!" The cheetah gazed sharply at him. "'Uh, Uh!' Speak up!", she said in a more aggressive tone than she intended.

Oh, shoot! I messed up! She seems pissed.

"I-I am Jack. Legosi's roommate, I am here to pick him up." The cheetah looked surprised. "Oh? Sorry!" She realized what a big mistake she just made. "I didn't realize you were his friend. I might've come off a bit too strong there."

Oh, thank goodness. By Rex, I was afraid that she was going to hit me!

Jack shook his paws in negation. "Oh, n-no! I get why you reacted that way. Given all that's happened. I-" The cheetah stopped him there. "Stop trying to justify my actions. Let's start over. My name is Shiira."

She held out her hand. Jack looked at it hesitantly, his tail wagging just a bit. He took it firmly. "I am Jack. Legosi's best friend."

She snickered slightly, there being a slight hint of melancholy. "That's bold, but cute. It's admirable that you came to pick him up. Keep walking till the end of this hallway, red doors, he'll probably be there."

The Lab blushed slightly in response to her calling him cute, but quickly regained his composure. "Alright, thank you. I am sorry for bumping into you." Shira shook her head. "Don't worry about it. I'll be going now, my parents are flatlining my phone. Maybe I'll see you around. Bye."

With that she walked off. Her stride being stiff but elegant. "U-uh, bye!", Jack said. He tried to regain his footing. His tail wagging excitedly, but for what reason he could not discern. Quickly he made his way to pick up his wolf.

Legosi was still up in the ceiling watching as all the people left the room.

Shiira was basically the last one to leave. Everyone looked rather panicked. It's probably a good idea to lay low for a while.

Unexpected footsteps were making their ways towards the room. The wolf wondered who could be coming back now.

"Did they forget something?", The wolf mused. He just sat there slowly anticipating their arrival. The doors swung open revealing an all too recognizable face.

"Legosi! Are you here?", Jack yelled. "I've come to pick you up." Legosi stared at him contently.

He's so sweet.

The wolf jumped down next to the dog and startled him. "Aah! Legosi! Don't scare me like that! Where did you even jump from?" The wolf gave him an amused chuckle. "Don't you smile at me! It's not funny!"

"Sorry, Jack. It's nice of you to come pick me up, but I can take care of myself, you know?" The office door softly opened revealing Louis in the doorway. "Who's there? Oh, Legosi, are you still here? And who's that?", the deer asked accusingly.

The wolf answered rather quickly. "Ehm, this is my friend: Jack. He's, uh, come to pick me up." The deer gave the wolf a sideways glance. "Oh, I remember now he sat with you at the table earlier today. I thought I heard someone yelling. What was that about?"

Legosi stammered Jack answering for him instead. "He startled me by jumping down from up there. Don't ask me how he landed so safely." The deer gave him a frown. "I think we told you not to do that anymore. You've really taken my advice to heart. Fighting authority now, are we?"

The wolf shook his head and hands aggressively. "N-no! It was just the quickest way down, that's all!" Louis gave the wolf a smile. "Your body language is so assertive. You're even standing up straight. You can't fool me, Legosi."

Jack was completely dumbfounded during that entire conversation, it wasn't really his place to mingle any ways. The deer made his way towards the exit with a casual stride.

"Oh, and, Legosi?" The wolf gulped. "Yeah?" Louis pointed upwards. "Turn off those lights." Legosi nodded quickly. "Good doggy."

The deer left and now only the canines remained. "What was that all about?", Jack asked. Legosi gave him a shrug. "I-I have no idea. He's the l-lead actor, so y-yeah."

Jack gave Legosi a questioning glance. The Lab let out a sigh. "Let's just leave, alright? This day has been bad enough."

With all that being said and done: Room 701 made a silent and awkward walk back to their dormitory. Praying for better days ahead of them.

Nobody in Room 701 exchanged a lot of words. They all silently accepted that it was better to just go to sleep early.

Everyone was sick of this day. Peace finally settled into the room as everyone eventually fell asleep.

"You know this peace won't last, Legosi. You don't want it to last."

Legosi's hairs stood up straight. His vision narrowing. Drool forming at the back of his cheeks.

Do we have to do this now? I am not in the mood.

"When are you ever, Legosi? I am just warning you about the inevitable."

Deep down the wolf knew it was right.

"Just rest for now. You will be needing it."
